Chaweng Regent Beach Resort has earned admiration for its exceptional service and strategic location, appealing to guests who appreciate proximity to local attractions while enjoying a peaceful retreat. Despite mixed reviews about the rooms—some finding them spacious yet others suggesting they need an update—the hotel's cleanliness and enchanting amenities, including multiple pools, are frequently praised. Travelers value the traditional atmosphere and reasonable pricing, though opinions on value for money occasionally vary. Concerns about nighttime noise and sun lounge management have been noted by some visitors.

Many times to Thailand but first visit to Koh Samui. We could not have chosen a better hotel. We had two weeks there and not one complaint.
We were allocated as per my request, for a private garden view room. It was really big and we were greeted by a beautifully decorated petal garland bed. The benefits of an older hotel are evident, so much wardrobe and storage space. The bathroom was stunning with jacuzzi bath, nice rain shower. All kept in pristine condition.
Breakfast catered for everything anyone could wish for,and was a work of art for presentation. Golf ensured our cooked foods were to our liking and all delicious.
Oil,Kate, Title, Yeo all gave us the best attention and always with the biggest smiles and a kind word.
The sun beds are the best quality and so comfortable. No shortage of towels. They were constantly replenished. We sat by the sea front and couldn’t have wished for a better view and better staff to take care of our needs. Jet, Vee, Ditt, Joe and Mos were excellent guys and we got really fond of them during our stay. They work so hard.
You only have to step out of the hotel and you are right in the heart of the strip, which has some fantastic restaurants and music bars. Most offering Thai meals for as little as 120 baht! We can recommend Olive restaurant.
We found some great music bars. Rich club and Mr Woos were our favourites.
We did the speedboat to the Ang Thong Marine Park , which was organised through the hotel. It was an awesome trip.
So easy to hop on a Baht taxi to Lamai, which is good fun.
Special thanks to Jeen the Bell Porter and fountain of knowledge. Such a kind man too.
I know Thailand is the Land of Smiles, but this our 12th visit and this hotel took that phrase to the end degree. They genuinely went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely holiday.
It goes without saying that we will be back. In fact I can’t think of anywhere else I would rather stay in Thailand. The whole island is so friendly.
Many thanks to every single member of staff for making it such a wonderful, memorable holiday.

I stayed at Chaweng Regent for 4 nights with my fiancé in their Deluxe Room with 1 King Bed, we are in our 30’s.

This is an amazing and beautiful resort with great amenities, in the perfect location!

Private access to the beach with guests-only beach chairs available right on the beach.

2 swimming pools, one has a small kiddie pool and the other has a pool bar. Lots of chairs available around both pools.

The resort is located on the main road so as soon as you walk out from the lobby, you get infinite options for dining and shopping.

There’s lots of mosquitos, bring bug spray!!

My fiancé really enjoyed the pond full of fish where he got to feed the fishes.

Breakfast buffet was just alright with limited options. But their restaurant has ocean view so I can’t complain!

Clean room with a large bed. Rainfall shower head was incredible!!

I appreciate how eco-friendly the hotel is... no plastic bottles of shampoo and body wash/lotion. Q-tips and cotton rounds were packaged in cardboard boxes. And laundry bags were canvas. Refillable glass water bottles were provided each day. I love how they’re doing their part to reduce plastic in and around the room!

There are very few absolute beachfront Villas on the Chewang Beach strip, but this is one of them. We decided at the last minute to revisit Koh Samui for New Years and managed to find the perfect room at this awesome resort
We previously stayed in the Presidential Pool Villa at the Sareeraya Villas & Suites which is also beachfront but maybe 800m further away from Chewang Beach.
I prefer this area as it's right in the middle of all the action with plenty of restaurants, shops and a large market directly across the road.
There are 6 Royal Villas in total, however only 2 of them are absolute beachfont
(Villas 303 and 304) We stayed in 303 which I think is the pick of all the villas at this resort. You also get a great ocean breeze that makes life comfortable as it's noticeably hotter without the breeze once you start walking back towards the Villa behind. Your own private gazebo right on the water is a great for spot for chilling out and relaxing . Although you don't get a private pool, the beach is right in front of you and the main resort pool is literally 10 steps away.
There's a massage place on the beach 10 steps in the other direction that give great massages cheap as chips - 400 Baht /hr. (less than AUD $20) All of us had at least 1 every day.
Breakfast at the seaside restaurant was great and the free mini bar was a nice touch
If you want luxury absolute beachfront at Chewang Beach, you can't go past Villa 303 at this resort

Firstly, I must say that I did like the hotel itself. The pool area and beach are good, and the rooms are spotlessly clean (if a little dated). In addition, the staff were really friendly with my daughter and the playroom was great if you could get in there when it wasn't too busy and wild.

Our experience was soured on checkout when we were presented with our bill. The total was presented for our bar tab and as my husband put in his credit card, I did some quick maths and told him to stop as there was no way the total was correct (we'd only been having a fresh coconut here and there and mainly used cash at the bar). I asked them to add up the receipts in front of me, and within about 30 seconds they presented a new total that was somewhat cheaper. It was as if they had a backup invoice ready to go, as there's no way they added it up that quickly. The new invoice had additional bar charges on that didn't tally with the individual receipts. I queried this again and they looked shifty and continued to collude in Thai. Third time lucky, the invoice was finally correct and I tapped my credit card. I was prompted to put my pin in, so I asked to see the total on the hand held machine the receptionist was hiding under her desk. When I did this, she cancelled the transaction and said "I'll just put it in again," which makes me think they were still trying to overcharge us. They'd also tried to charge my mother in law for a taxi ride she hadn't taken so I'd advise all guests to check their invoive thoroughly when they check out.

Something else that had irked me throughout the holiday was when we had paid cash around the pool, bearing in mind that there is a service charge on the total, many of the staff would say "shall I bring the change?" even if the change was as much as the total cost, (such as giving 100 baht for a 40baht bottle of water). I always tip good service but I just thought this was awkward and unprofessional, so would advise the management to train their staff regarding transaction etiquette.

I don't think we would return to the hotel, based on our checkout experience, which is a shame as it was an otherwise pleasant stay.

Dear RachelD133, Thank you for choosing our resort as your holiday destination and for sharing your detailed experience. Firstly, we appreciate your positive words about our cleanliness and friendly staff. However, I am shocked to hear about your experience at check out and the discomfort it caused you. I would like to apologize about this. I appreciate you bringing this issue to my attention, and I can assure you steps will be taken to investigate this further and to better train our staff. Both behaviors that you reported are incongruent with our high service standards, and we hope you can give us another chance to show you our improvement. This hotel is in a good location in Charweng easy access to everything, but the room we booked was not the room we got, check the fine print of your booking they can do it. We came to veg out and were able to do even if the venue is a little dated. The New Years banquet and entertainment was great a smorgasbord layout easy to get to from seafood to meats vegetables and salads, but the highlight was the deserts Room. Overall fine.

This Ressort has seriously been hit by Thai beach erosion.
Approximately 1m sand height is missing, which makes the beach practically inexistent.

In consequence sun beds at the two pools are overcommitted and there’s a daily race to pre-occupy most of them. At the main pool, with the lack of distance between sun beds, you get quite in touch (physically spoken) with other guests, wanted or not.

Looking at the original facilities (some in beetween taken out of service) the targeted category may have been upper class with a good touch of wellness (there even were saunas at the beginning).

Probably due to the vicious circle of disappearing beach and the consequent “people concentration” the Ressort seems to have changed the targeted customer base towards more economy and partying oriented categories.
Chaweng Road in front is a quite populated Party strip.
Some of the customers even show manners you’d never think possible. The leftovers on some tables at the breakfast buffet tell sad stories.
Maybe this is a reason why we had to make a high deposit (first time ever) for possible consumption on a totally prepaid trip.

The facilities and rooms needing a high level of upkeep (and cleaning which sometimes is a little bit neglected) are probably difficult to maintain with the number of staff present.
Also, the staff does not actually enforce the hotel’s house rules which sometimes leads to very noisy or agitated situations.

The staff itself is very kind and as helpful as possible, but mostly overcommitted too.

I’ve put some pictures from the actual beachfront situation (mid tide) to document the beach erosion situation. Check them against the official ones from the homepage.

Dear 719georgb, As the General Manager of the resort I am disappointed to read in your review that you and your family did not had an enjoyable stay at our resort. Your feedback is extremely important to us and I can assure you that we will review all your comments to ensure that the situations you mentioned do not occur in the future to other guests staying with us. If ever you are back in Samui, we would be delighted to welcome you again to Chaweng Regent Beach Resort Resort, all our team would ensure to change your perception and I am confident we could provide a memorable stay with us. In regards to the "beach erosion", it is a yearly recurring phenomenon that for a couple of months the sand washes away, after which it will be re-deposited automatically. I remain at your entire disposal. Best regards, Simon Hoekstra General Manager Chaweng Regent Beach Resort

Chaweng Regent Beach Resort is one of the best on Chaweng Beach.
It was our fifth stay in approximately 10 years. Best location on the whole Chaweng to find many restaurants and shops outside on the road behind the resort. The beach is clean and behind a natural breakwaters.
Staff very friendly as usual in Thailand.
Only the Garden Pool is sometimes crowded with drunken and very loud undisciplined “guests “ without education.

Hotel is both on the main strip(the front entrance) & also on the beach. The rooms are a mixture of refurbished & not refurbished, they are all spacious & spotlessly clean. Most rooms accept UK 3 pin plugs without adapters. There is a safe, hairdryer, drawers, wardrobes & plenty of towels, including beach towels available by the main pool. Beds are huge & comfortable, we had a massive walk in shower as well as a huge round spa bath. The beach is maintained by the hotel who rake it evey morning .The people of Thailand are the friendliest I have ever met, this includes the hotel staff who cannot do enough for you. We were here for a wedding which was both organised & executed flawlessly, nothing was too much trouble. I would like to call out Air & Jet for their excellent service, along with Lin from the bar & restaurant who helped us learn a different Thai word each day. The food in both the hotel & Thailand in general is very good. The mosquitoes are not an issue like some people make out. I would highly recommend this as place to stay. Thoroughly enjoyable stay

The hotel is beautiful. The grounds are tropical with lots of beautiful corners and places to sit and enjoy.
Very close to chaweng beach and lots of restaurants and a 7/11 across the street.
The beach is not too nice but we walked five minutes to chawang garden and had our massage and coconuts while enjoying their beach chairs all day.
Pros:
Location
Beautiful resort
Nice modern rooms
Breakfast ok
Allowed late check out without extra charge
2 nice pools
Cons:
The beachfront is not so nice
Pool towels not always available
Noise from upstairs neighbors
(They moved us to a really nice room after we complained)

We'd stayed at a different hotel on the island before this one, which was priced less, and the difference was night and day.

For the price of Chaweng Regent, it is seriously over-priced for what is a very average resort. Everything about it is 'okay' and not much is 'good'. You have to pay for ice (yes, really).

The wifi is borderline unusable, at different times it can be completely unusable. (4Mbs speed is extremely poor).

The breakfast is really average too. The pools are okay but service slow at the bar.

Our room itself was large, with a big, comfortable bed, but the aircon is extremely noisy (although that at least drowns out any noise from the nearby nightlife).

Overall, this place is over-rated and there are much nice places and areas to stay in Koh Samui. Would not recommend Chaweng area unless you after party nightlife.

For the breakfast buffet, we provided plain and strawberry yogurt with mixed fruit, and there were also muesli and cornflakes available, for the coffee we provided a coffee machine and a boiled black coffee pot to serve at breakfast, the a la carte coffee was also available from the drink list menu.

My husband and brother in law are big fitness enthusiasts, who said they would train everyday but only went once as we were having too much fun to go to gym! But they said the gym was great. The aircon is very effective, we were there when the heat felt like 45 degrees with the humidity levels at times. Thailand is very safe, the Thai nationals are some of the gentlest and most respectful characters I’ve come across around the globe. Koh samui as an island is extremely safe, we basically strolled the streets in a bikini top and shorts as it was so hot in May - as a woman coming from South Africa, I’ve never felt safer.
