What's not to like, the location is great with a general store / takeaway at the end of the drive and a café just about 100 metres down the road. The 1 bedroom (cosy) unit we stayed in had a nice little outdoor patio / garden to sit in although we were next to the road which, being holiday season, was rather busy. The units were nice and clean too. Right on the lifeguard patrolled beach and just a few minutes from Waipu

We loved staying here. The staff were really professional, friendly and welcoming. The heated swimming pool was loved by my children and it is just a stones throw to the beach with it's own private accessway. The Cove Restaurant is just across the road as is a local dairy. We stayed over New Years and it was really peaceful and quiet. No rowdy guests. We enjoyed meeting other families and our children made several friends. Unit was a decent size and even with a two year old in tow felt very safe with pool being well and truely fenced off. We hope to come back again.

The Resort is in an excellent location being a 5 minute walk to the beautiful beach, also very close to the Dairy and The Cove Restaurant. Our unit was very clean, comfortable and had its own private deck at the back with table and chairs, to enjoy a quiet drink or meal. Dianna made us very welcome and made sure all was ok while we were there. We enjoyed using the heated swimming pool and there was a spa and BBQ by the pool. The Resort is only a couple of hours drive from Auckland, so we will definitely be returning again.

Lady on the front desk was rude. Complained about having to come to desk to answer questions. Room was dirty, edges around walls looked like it'd been a year since cleaned. The private deck out back wasn't private...at all. Fence palings removed, nails sticking out. Could see right through to adjoining decks and rooms. Bed on rollers..as you get in bed moves...a lot. There for 2 nights, they didn't even restock the milk for coffees even tho they restocked the coffee!! Said they didn't restock milk????? I've stayed in many motels and hotels up and down NZ through my job and milk is stocked and restocked minimum!!
To top it off..the rude manager lady entered our room unannounced using a key. Why she was entering was beyond me. I'm glad I wasn't naked. She claimed mistake but a mistake isn't made when you have the exact key for the room. (Key lock, not digital card key)
For the money it was tiny, dirty and didn't feel private. Won't stay again.

The pool was nice.

Laura and the team were awesome. It helped that the weather gods were inside. Clean, friendly and very accommodating of our change in plans.

The location is great, stroll to a lively and very long beach, with no noise and enough options if things to do to cover more than a few days.

What a great little complex! Our 3bed appartment had everything that we needed and was very clean, not easy when you consider the amount of sand that must get carted through it! The rooms were a good size, the beds were comfy and the little deck was a nice place to sit and have a drink at the end of a hot beach day! The pool is an added bonus and a nice temperature and was used daily...….
The resort has a great feel and is nice and secure - Dianna keeps her finger on the button and things under control!
So Waipu Cove Resort, many thanks for having us ....we loved it and will hopefully be back !!

I booked accommodation for a three day break with my adult son and daughter and my grandchildren. On the plus side it is close to the beach and a great little restaurant, and the pool was clean and heated. However, when we arrived there was a muck up with the rooms I had booked (for $1550) and so the room configuration was not ideal and not what I paid for. I was given a $50 refund but that did not compensate at all. We also had to move rooms on third night which was annoying. The units were clean, but tired and dated, and quite expensive for what they are. The manager is intrusive and overbearing and not at all welcoming. On one occasion she entered our unit unannounced and made inappropriate comments which was weird and embarrassing. Had we not made light of her behaviour it would have spoilt our break. I dont think I’ll be back anytime soon.

Response from Dianna van Enckevort, General Manager at Waipu Cove Resort
Responded Oct 3, 2020
Thank you for your review and sorry you felt the way you did. Just to let you know as I tried at the time there was no muck up with the rooms, it would have suited us better without having to shuffle reservations around. Also with an extra clean. When your Son arrived he asked if there was a larger unit for you all which he was shown and he made the decision also stating it would work better and changing units for the last night was not an issue. It also worked in your favour with pricing which was refunded. We entered the room for servicing and knocked numerous times but the door was open so wandered in calling out on entry. It was not nice to overhear criticism re mentioning there was no bombing, jumping and diving into the pool as stated on the rules and regulations and just advised the reasons why the rules are in place. It appeared all had a great time and was our pleasure having you all. Kind Regards.

Very welcoming operators; booked in a while back for a special persons birthday family stay over. On arrival treated well and amenities explained and a guided tour to our apartments. Beach walks and swim in the heated pool were enjoyed by all of us. A casual night, eating, drinking, eating, playing cards, eating and just managed getting to bed before we turned into pumpkins. Nice & quiet would recommend to people as dining facilities are also close by.

Rooms are cute and compact but have everything you could possibly need. Pool and spa hard to find up this way so a bonus that they are here. Short stroll to a very nice beach. Check in a good experience and recommendations of things to do in the area (Piroa falls was one we had not heard of but well worth the visit)

The Cove Cafe across the road for your meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as baked goods and coffee to go)

If you like your bed sandy and If you like authoritarian hosts, then this is the place for you. Full of don’t do this, don’t do that, not welcoming at all. They treat their guests very poorly. Excessive rules and aggressive manner, even the welcome email is anything but. Whatever you do = don't hang clothes on the pool fence, but it is ok for the management to hang much larger pool covers to on the pool fence, hypocrites.
Phone coverge on ONE NZ is pretty much non-existent
