Essentially 2 Sandals resorts as 1 with the benefits of both. There are approx 20 restaurants and snack bars with about the same amount of bars. Our accommodation was a garden room which was clean and spacious with plenty of storage space. The food quality in the main restaurants (some need to be booked) is excellent and the snack bars are good too (some very funny bar staff) but for food you need to avoid peak times around 12:30pm and 6-7pm. The Royal seemed slightly busier certainly around the main pool. The only issue I found was the securing a sun bed in the morning with people seemingly getting up early to put towels out but then not appearing until mid morning. Overall however an excellent resort and highly recommended

What an absolutely lovely trip in May, 2022! We have been to Sandals Barbados in 2015 and to Sandals Royal Barbados in 2018. We ended up coming back as we had four trips cancelled to due to Covid (three by government decree and one by the airline cancelling its service to another island we were booked at). We needed a getaway, we've really enjoyed the combined properties in Barbados before, so decided to come back. We are so glad that we did as the trip was wonderful! - Overall: If you are looking for perfection for every minute of your day or every interaction on resort, you will likely be disappointed. If you are in the mood to relax and go with the flow, you will have a wonderful time! The saying that you attract more bees with honey than vinegar is apt: being polite and courteous to staff almost always gets the same kind of response. - Covid Protocols: We're all sick of Covid, masks, hand sanitizer etc., including the employees at the resort. That said, being from the most Covid locked-down and mandated jurisdiction in North America, none of the protocols in Barbados or at Sandals bothered us (likely because we were used to such things) and we felt really safe both on resort and when we were out and about on the island. The requirement was to wear a mask while being in enclosed spaces (such as the Concierge office and the shops) and while entering a restaurant until you were seated. There were plenty of hand sanitizer dispensers around the resort and signs to encourage using sanitizer. There was no requirement to wear masks while otherwise outside, at a pool bar etc. The employees would gently remind a guest if a mask needed to be worn. While most guests were in compliance, we did see two sets of guests really push back at employees about having to wear a mask. We'd just encourage guests to be respectful and comply: the employees are only following rules set by the Barbados government or their employer. - Our room We stayed in the Beachfront Penthouse Club Level Suite with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub. It had a beautiful view and we were very pleased with the room. I did find the bed a bit hard and requested a mattress topper, which was delivered quickly and made the bed very nice to sleep on. Everything in the room was well stocked: towels, toiletries, the fridge. The room was cleaned every day. - Sunbed and towel availability: Prior to arriving, we read online reviews complaining about the lack of sunbeds. That was not our experience. Every day that we wanted them, we got sunbeds on the beach that we were happy with. I should note that we are not super early risers and would typically put towels and a book on the sunbeds between 730 and 8am and then go to breakfast. There were plenty of sunbeds still open on the beach when we returned from breakfast and even some still around the pools on the Barbados side at that time too. I suspect that if you want specific sunbeds at the Infinity pool on the Royal side, you may want to get up a bit earlier. People wanting specific sunbeds vs. there being no sunbeds available, are two different issues from what we saw. Towels were also plentiful and we had no trouble finding towels at any time of day. - The Grounds The properties are stunning and very well kept. It had been four years since we had been here and the foliage that was newly planted at the time has filled in. It is simply delightful to wander around the properties and take in the beauty of the flora and fauna. - The Beach There was a lot of seaweed in 2018. There was only a bit this year and the grounds crew was constantly raking it to keep the beach as clean as possible for people to enjoy. Its an easy beach to walk and enjoy the waves hitting your feet as get some exercise. - On resort activities The offerings are plentiful and I can't imagine anyone not finding something that they would find fun or interesting to do. We particularly enjoyed the aqua fitness with Ian: he's got an infectious energy and provides a great workout at the Infinity Pool at 11am on weekdays. The daytime DJ around the infinity pool on the Royal side kept things rocking. The hobie cats were available to go out most days. There were beach games, beach and pool volleyball, dance lessons, crafting activities, a piano player and sing along at the Oyster Bar (I think nightly) and nightly entertainment on the main stage on the Royal side. One new offering this time were solo artists playing around the resort: we enjoyed a saxophone player at the Sky Bar one night and a guitar player and a singer on separate nights near Spices/Schooners. And of course, the piano sing-a-long at the Oyster bar was in full swing and was a good time. - Restaurants/Food/Service We had read about atrociously slow service in online reviews before we came. Overall, that was not our experience. Sure, there were a couple nights when service could have been described as slower than we would have wanted, but we took those as anomalies. In both of those examples, the employees were clearly moving as fast as they could, and based on what we overheard, it seemed that someone on the team didn't show up for their scheduled shift, which we tried to bear in mind. Our experience and interactions with employees overall, from servers in restaurants, bartenders, grounds keepers, the front desk, concierge and housekeeping was very positive and that was very much appreciated. We were very pleased with the food offerings on resort. Both Greenhouse and Heart & Sol are excellent new additions! For breakfast, we largely stuck to the buffet at Spices as we each like different things for breakfast, but we tried Schooners for the a-la-carte breakfast as well. We ate lunch most days at either the Mariner or at Neptune's (fish sandwiches at both are really nice!), but wandered back to Heart & Sol one day and should have done so earlier to be able to eat there more often. Favourite dinners (in no particular order) were at La Parisienne, Greenhouse, Bombay and Chi, but we also ate at Portofino's Butch's, Spices, American Tavern and Schooners. After dinner was often spent at the Merry Monkey. Special mention to the following staff for making our time at their restaurant or bar more special due to interesting conversation and lovely service: - Ranisha at Chi. - Harriet at American Tavern, along with hostess, Latoya - Dominique at La Parisienne, along with the host, Adrien - Ramar and Shenique at the Oyster Bar - Sabrina at Schooners at breakfast - The lovely young lady from Greenhouse on May 26, whose name I forgot to write down - Jack the manager at the Merry Monkey - Photography We loved seeing Brian, promoted to Supervisor since we last saw him in 2018, again and catching up. We had fun photo sessions with Jonathan and Ryan and love the photos they took of us. - Spa I had a pedicure with Danica (who was lovely to chat with and did a great job on the pedicure) and we had a couples deep relief massage in the cabanas at the spa on the Royal side, which was excellent, but we forgot to write down the names of the therapists, so we can't extend our thanks (they were a man and a woman and we are certain that both of their names began with "A"). It's too bad that Barbados' Covid restrictions still don't allow for use of the saunas and the full facility, but we understand. Danielle, one of the spa hostesses was lovely as well.

This trip was our 1st Anniversary trip & somewhat of a honeymoon redo as we both contracted Covid after our desitination wedding in FL last year. It was also special to us because this location was our originally planned wedding location that we had to move back to the States because of Covid. It was, without a doubt, one of the best vacations we have ever been on. It was our first time at a Sandals resort and I am not exaggerating when I say that they pampered us to no end. I mean, literally all we had to do was wake up & start enjoying our day. Sandals Barbados & Sandals Royal Barbados are 2 resorts on the same compound literally separated by a walkway so we had access to everything on both properties. While the butlers & beautiful suites on the Royal side were a luxury I'm sure, we were just as pleased with our garden view suite and we were treated no differently and enjoyed our vacation just as much as if we were staying on the Royal side of the resort property. Of the 20 or so restaurants, we were able to eat at about 11 of them (some of them a couple of times) and everything we ate was absolutely amazing. Some restaurants require reservations for dinner so we highly recommend making your reservations for any restaurant you want to try as soon as you arrive at the resort (or earlier if possible) as they get booked very quickly. We wanted to eat at Butch's but both on the property were completely booked. However, once the staff realized we were celebrating our anniversary, they found a way to squeeze us in for an amazing dinner where they had for us a special bottle of wine for the occasion. This was done for us without us asking! The entire resort staff were more than accommodating to us and we wanted to tip several people, but we read that some of them could get in trouble for taking tips beyond the gratuities already included in our payment to the resort. In lieu of those gratuities, I want to thank them here. 1. Special Thanks to the staff at Butch's Restaurant on the SB side of the resort: ***George at the bar who made me the most delicious cocktail that I will forever make for myself; ***Shaquon, our server who made on point recommendations that exceeded our expectations and who catered to our every need. Shaquon was knowledgeable about all of the menu items and every detail of every dish was just as he explained and he kept our drinks refreshed the entire time; ***David, the restaurant manager who came to our table to check on us and who made sure that we had our special anniversary bottle of wine. 2. Dwayne, photographer during our photo shoot. Special thanks to him for choosing the most spectacular views on the resort & at the beach and for posing & positioning us just right for each photo. 3. Crystal & Tiffany at Red Lane Spa for their magic hands & the most relaxing/therapeutic massages. 4. The front desk staff who graciously allowed me to place a call to American Airlines at the front desk to fix an issue with my return flight. 5. The wonderful ladies at the culinary reservations desk who worked their magic to get us a reservation at Butch’s for our anniversary dinner & who always gave us a smile as we rocked behind their desk on our favorite swing. We are forever grateful & thankful to te entire Sandals Barbados staff for making our anniversary vacation one that we will never forget. Vershenia & Jasper Johnson

This was our second trip to a Sandals (the first being in St Lucia in 2019) and we went solely because the scuba diving here makes it excellent value for money. You can sign up for up to 2 dives in the morning or one in the afternoon, and there’s a specially scheduled deep dive for Wednesday mornings. All kit is included as well as the transfer to the boat (c.15 -20 mins) and the boat ride itself. The diving team are absolutely fantastic; safety is always prioritised but they’re also efficient, plan really nice routes and are genuinely nice to be around. Special mention has to go to Laurent (Charlie) who we spent the week with doing our PADI Advanced Open Water with - he is exceptionally knowledgeable and if you have a particular interest in taking time to look at fish / corals or are a bit nervous, then he’s your man! Zane was also fantastic!! Other things to know about the resort: - the two Sandals resorts in Barbados (Royal Barbados and Barbados) are literally side by side. It’s not like other countries where you may need to get a bus between resorts; you can walk freely between the two resorts so if you’re undecided because of the cost, I’d say definitely stay in here over Royal Barbados) - the breakfast offering is exceptionally annoying; the earliest you can get breakfast is 7am so if you plan to dive (need to be on the bus at 7.45am) or just an early riser then you’re a bit stuffed. Only 2 of the resorts restaurants open at 7. The rest open at 7.30am and many of them at 8am. - if you have a severe allergy then I would think very very carefully before going. There’s a very different approach to dietary requirements across the resort and in near on all restaurants, we have found that servers struggle to know the allergens in any given foods. There are no allergen lists and often the menus are marked incorrectly; for example, many starters and desserts are not marked at all even though vegetarian. The other problem is that most staff were not aware of the difference between vegetarianism and veganism. This meant my vegan partner was regularly offered food with dairy by staff despite us making clear that he was vegan upon arrival, on booking into the reservations and when joining the restaurants. Honestly, you have to be prepared to have little ‘accidents’, else you must go somewhere else. I suspect the only exception to this is if you have a butler (which we didn’t) who do seem to do an insane amount of handholding. You can order vegan cakes in the doughnut shop and patisserie and they can arrange a lime sorbet but you will get no choice so something to be aware of also. They do have Greenhouse which has a huge number of plant based options (although even there staff did get confused over bread baskets and puddings) and Heart & Sol which will give you a good lunch. - resort is always perfectly clean and tidy. - they have a terrible habit of cleaning the seaweed off the beach which is horrendous for the environment and also means that there is a digger like thing on the beach most days. - some staff definitely looked like they wanted a tip and I did have one member of staff ask me outright for one which was a surprise (they then followed me around the resort for most of my last day) - gym is pretty well stocked and you can definitely keep up training here if you don’t mind it being slightly warm (there is air conditioning) - Barbados is very expensive anyway and taxis are particularly bad; they are a flat fee regardless of the time of day and it will cost USD $25 to get to Bridgetown (per way) so something to think about if you plan to go out a lot. I couldn’t seem to convince staff to help me get the bus but there is one!

Day 1 - arrived at resort around 10:10 pm, everyone was gone except for 1 person at the desk. It took about 30 minutes for someone to take us to our room. Entered room and while the representative was showing us how to use the different options on the television for food and other services, none of the options that he was trying to show us were available due to the age of the television. Went to lock the door only to find the top lock was broken. Attempted to order room service and according to the Sandals reservation team informed us that room service was 24 hours a day as well as our mini refrigerator would be stocked with sodas, alcohol, juices and waters along with a variety of snacks mini refrigerator only had 3 items that we enjoy and zero snacks and room service ended at 10:00 so we went to bed hungry plus the bed is rock hard. We were told since everyone was gone for the evening that someone would touch base with us in the morning for a tour of the property and a orientation for the property. Day 2 - Woke up with major back pain due to sleeping on a extremely hard mattress. Called for mini refrigerator to be restocked with only Coke. Sprites, Water and Juices. They showed up with drinks early afternoon and put everything that we didn’t want and nothing that we wanted in the mini refrigerator. Called back and they said they would bring drinks. We were unable to locate any where to get the drinks that we had requested and when we ask about snacks they told us we could purchase snacks at the resort shop. Today is day 3 and because of my food allergies the only thing I have been able to eat is salads. The only drink’s that we haven’t run out of is water. My 5 day birthday trip cost me almost &11,000.00 and I’m hungry, thirsty and exhausted from not having a decent mattress to sleep on. Most of the employees have been nice however it doesn’t make up for the several that have been rude and not pleasant. At this point this is my first and last time I will ever go to another Sandals Resort

We had a good time in Sandals. Points to consider: 1. The sand is nice but the sea is rough and uncomfortable. 2. The noodles in Chi Asian Fusion Restaurant are dried spaghetti (very cheap). 3. Our luxury room was nice and well serviced. 4. The waiting staff at Dino’s Pizza place are lazy, mostly fat and can’t remember anything. 5. The evening entertainment is on the Royal side and average. 6. The Snorkelling trip is 100% 7. The food throughout the resort is 3* 8. The gym is good. 9. The cafe de Paris crepes are nice but they don’t like making them. Far too tired to work!

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to share your review of Sandals Barbados. While we are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay overall, it is disheartening if you felt like there were elements of your stay that did not meet expectations. We always embrace feedback, both positive and negative, as it presents an opportunity for us to review our operations and improve where necessary. Most of the changes we make at the resort level are a direct result of the feedback we receive from our guests. We only regret that it seems the points mentioned in your review were not brought to the attention of Resort Management via the Loop during your stay, as the team would have been more than happy to see that every aspect of your experience agreed with your standards. Nevertheless, we do remain respectful of the opinions you have expressed, and we only hope to be granted the opportunity to host you again in the future for a vacation that we trust will be more in line with your expectations.

My first trip to sandals Barbados left me disappointed! The rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade! The ac unit was the older model on the wall over the bed and we were not able to adjust the vents from blowing directly on our heads, the toilet paper holder was broken and the bathroom corners needed repainting or cleaning, again very disappointed

It was a bad overall experience but a very lovely resort. We arrived on a Friday night for our 8 day stay. They very efficiently delivered our luggage to our room while we went to eat. We decided since it was too late to get a reservation, to go to dine at the English Pub and while the food was decent, it took about 90 minutes from sitting down to getting the main meal for the two couples in our party. That seemed to be a theme at many restaurants in the two connected Sandals resorts. The next night, there was an issue with their water in some buildings, which happened to be the two buildings we stayed in. They provided either the Butlers lounge or the Departure Lounge as a place to take a shower before dinner. My wife and I used the Departure Lounge. I walked into the Mens side and when a shower was available, it was just used with dirty towels and soap from the previous users. It would have been nice if they had cleaned them after each person's use but it was communal and whomever was first, got a clean shower and it went downhill after that. Hot water was spotty at times for the next couple of days and you several times, you'd turn on the shower and both sinks to get hot water after a few minutes wait. Two days in a row, we were locked out of our room. After having the cards changed, they figured out the battery was dead in the lock (same issue with the safe which never got fixed) so they replaced the battery. However, the next day, the same issue so I wonder, did they change the battery or not bother. This after, on both occasions, employees came to the room with "master keys" to get us in and those didn't work. Hard to imagine replacing a battery two days in a row. One highlight was the couples massage which, in all the years we've gone to resorts, this was by far the best. I would highly recommend it should you stay here. In the end, they offered us Sandals points for our troubles BUT, we had to sign a non disclosure agreement to not tell anyone AND, those points expired in a year. We had already booked a trip so there was no value for us and we felt that the non disclosure was hidden in the document. Felt a bit underhanded to us. We love the Sandals concept and have brought other and continue to do so but I think I would avoid this property. It's obviously not been maintained with Covid and may take a couple of years to become a value again.

We stayed 10 nights in the Barbados resort and could not find fault in anything. The room was beautiful and always immaculately clean, the one time we were going to ask for a top up of the minibar which appeared to have been overlooked, we were called before we had to ask as we’d left the “Do not disturb” light on, so entirely our fault. Every meal and drink we ate and drunk was superb, nothing could be complained about. The staff are superb, we were greeted by every (and I mean EVERY) member of staff throughout the resort regardless of where we were. Whether we were round the pool, walking round the immaculate grounds, in the resort shops, at the bars…. Everywhere…. We found everyone so welcoming and friendly. Yes, the pool chairs being reserved early can be a pain but we found on many days there were chairs available even up to 10am. The infinity pool on the Royal resort is a different matter, the chairs are all reserved by 6am but we weren’t too bothered as that pool can be very loud and not particularly relaxing. There are ample chairs on the beach. There was some days where the seaweed came in but the resort staff worked tirelessly to rake this up and move this with their machinery. Otherwise, the, approximately, 1/2 mile stretch of white sandy beach is stunning. The sea isn’t as calm as on the west coast, but there is no perfect resort in terms of wide beaches and calm seas on the island we could find. Maybe our tastes are lower than other travellers, but amongst the many other travellers we spoke with, everyone else was as happy and impressed as us. Absolutely gutted to have left, so much so that we’re trying to work out if we can return in November for our anniversary.

Very disappointed. Stayed in Crystal Lagoon room (4101) with a swim up pool & had butler service. The room smelled moldy, the pool was full of debris. We moved to 4111. The rooms are in desperate need of renovation Butler service was terrible with the 2 out of 3 we had. Janelle was lovely. Service was definitely lacking. The employees had awful attitudes. Before my wedding ceremony I had a toast with friends at the Sky bar & the bartender told us to hurry up so that she could return the glasses to Parisenne French restaurant. We went to Spices for breakfast and the lady cooking omelettes was rude to the guy ahead of us. There were many incidents like this. We had 8 guests to also stay in property that were very unhappy I hate this was their 1st Sandals experience. I will say Ms. Patricia's wedding crew was great. Also Ashley and Adrian in the coffee shop were super sweet. Patricia from the Jerk Chicken shop was wonderful as well. If you decide to visit, definitely stay at Sandals Royal because it's newer even though the people are the same.

Hello, and thank you for sharing your feedback on Sandals Barbados. Congratulations on your recent nuptials! Please accept our sincerest apology for the inconveniences, as this is certainly not the celebration we wished for you. Our grounds-keeping and maintenance teams do their best to ensure that our facilities are always in excellent condition, therefore, we are quite disappointed if your experience was not indicative of the norm. Additionally, we have always sought to recruit socially engaging employees with pleasant personalities, as we are fully aware that our team members are our greatest assets, so it is disheartening if you felt like your experience did not reflect this. Training continues to be a vital part of our improvement plan, and as such, we have shared your feedback regarding our cleanliness standards and general service with our Training and Development Manager for action as required in order to prevent any recurrences of this nature. We do request that guests on resort please notify us of anything that does not meet their standards via the Loop system, which is a direct line to resort management, as we are always willing to work with our guests to make sure you walk away feeling like your stay was money well spent. Nonetheless, should you have any lingering concerns, we invite you to please share them with us at customersupport@sandals.com with details of your reservation, and we would be happy to discuss them with you. Enjoy the remainder of your day.
