The Rostrevor Hotel garners praise for its scrupulous cleanliness and spacious rooms, although some guests suggest the interiors could benefit from modernization. Nestled in a coveted location, it offers easy access to beaches and local hot spots, yet the vibrant nightlife may encroach on a tranquil night's sleep for some.
While the decor may be described as dated, the amenities, including kitchenettes, contribute to the hotel being esteemed as a solid value. The staff's friendliness and diligence in service are frequently commended, despite occasional reports of discourteous encounters.

We booked this hotel mainly for its excellent position in St Lawrence gap, but also because the rooms come with a kitchenette as well as being one of the cheapest hotels on the gap. We found the hotel to be very clean with our maid being very good & the staff being polite & helpful. If you are looking for value for money in an ideal location look no further, yes some of the hotel looks dated, the shower & kitchenette’s do need upgrading (I’ve included photos), but for the price it’s difficult to complain about this issue, all the rooms have a sea view, we had a mid range double superior room on which we were more than happy with. There is a very small beach area but it’s no more than a 5 minute walk to the lovely Dover beach. The pool area is clean with plenty of beds, but not a lot of parasols, the pool is adequate but not big. There’s a convenience store about 50 yds from the hotel which sells most things needed for your holiday & appear to be at Barbados supermarket prices, The much bigger Dover market shop is about a 10 minute walk, also an ATM

Check in was quick and efficient, staff friendly and informative. Superior ocean front room, fabulous view! Room was spacious including generous kitchenette area. Some people comment that the furniture needs updating but I feel it is functional and all is clean .Separate bathroom, small but functional, shower not all singing and dancing, but as I prefer, just turn tap on😄
Pool deck is nice, plenty of sunbeds, maybe a few more parasols called for as sun is VERY hot. There are other areas where you can sunbathe, further from the swimming pool. Access to the sea with a small patch of sand , ok if you just want a swim in the sea. There are other beaches within walking distance. Overall we were very pleased with accommodation and felt it was good value for money

Excellent location. Has a large terrace to the pool and beach area. Plenty of sun beds, and chairs. On arrival you may feel the rooms look tired. (103) which is right on the ground floor to the car park. At first you don’t feel too secure but it is. As there are no mosquito nets, you feel unable to leave the windows open to listen to the sea overnight. Well equipped. Daily maid service, regular towels, even when not requested. Good shower and plenty of hot water. Bar noise finishes by 1130pm. Ceiling fan was great so didn’t need air con running overnight. Mosquito net to the bathroom window would allow for better ventilation. Great value for money. Has its own small beach and you can swim out so far.

Let’s start with the highlights! The apartments are perfectly situated in St. Lawrence Gap, surrounded by a variety of mid-range eateries, lively bars, and tempting street food options. A short 10-minute stroll in either direction takes you to the stunning beaches of Dover and Worthing. The property boasts a small beach area ideal for a refreshing swim, as well as a modest pool where you can relax. The pool deck offers breathtaking views of the sea, complete with umbrellas and loungers for a comfortable day in the sun. With all these great features, we truly had a wonderful time.
Accommodation: ⭐
Unfortunately, the self-catering apartments fell short of expectations. I’d rate them no higher than one star. They are located adjacent to the poolside kitchen and bar, which created several inconveniences. Our bathroom was separated from the kitchen by a slatted window, allowing kitchen grease to seep in, and the kitchen lights were left on continuously, starting their workday around 5:30 AM—every day.
Our companions faced similar issues; their room shared a wall with the bar’s TV, which was left on all night, while they also had to endure constant foot traffic noise from the pool area through their bathroom window. The apartments themselves haven’t seen a refresh in decades, with double beds being two singles pushed together and dated mahogany furniture that felt out of place.
The self-catering kitchen featured an odd assortment of utensils, and while it had a large fridge and freezer, the toaster looked somewhat hazardous, and we didn’t dare inspect the microwave. The overall condition of the kitchen was old and shabby, and the bathrooms were in dire need of improvement. Strip lighting and outdated fixtures did little to enhance the experience.
Regrettably, cleanliness was also a concern. While some areas may have been superficially tidied, by modern standards, the rooms felt unclean. Clean sheets and towels were provided but the rooms themselves were in need of a deep clean at the very least and major revamp to bring them to at least an acceptable basic standard.
Staff Experience: ⭐⭐
While some staff members were friendly and accommodating, others were less so, with a few exhibiting downright rudeness.
Final Thoughts:
In summary, while the location deserves five stars and some staff provided good service, the accommodation was disappointing. Overall, I would rate this experience as a 2-star stay due to the quality of the apartments and the inconsistent service. If you prioritize location over comfort, this could still be a viable option—but be prepared for a mixed experience.

We love Barbados and now we have found our favourite hotel to boot! What is not to love, the wonderful staff, the views, the kitchenette and, yes, the location. It's a lively spot that can get a bit noisy at night if you are in sleeping mode, but it's great with all of the restaurants and people watching you would want all at the Rostrevor. Just about everyone I spoke with was a returning guest, and I mean returning for years and years. Taking a book out of their pages, I already booked for 2025, knowing that this hotel books up very far in advance.
It's a family run hotel and somewhere that I would not hesitate to recommend to family or friends, the true test. The room was great, spacious with fantastic ocean views and a balcony. The kitchenette was wonderful since our modus operandi was to eat "at home" and go out for dinners, and there were lots of restaurants from which to choose in the area! Take your pick!
The beach is quite small but it didn't matter because it was not littered with lots of people so quite a bit of room to catch the waves. Just so you know, it's not a walking beach and when we were there, it was a bit rough so you picked your time in the water -- warm water and lots of wave action!
What can I say about the staff? THE BEST! Yes, you know who you are and we look forward to seeing you next year.

Fabulous holiday! The Rostrevor is in the middle of the St Lawrence gap so absolutely perfect for bars and eateries, being right on the beach is the icing on the cake. We were B&B and the food was great, slightly limited but very nice (served 7am-2pm!!). The room and Hotel were extremely clean, towel and bedding changes brilliant. Room was a bit “tired” but no problem…the only poor point was the shower, always cold and you had to run around under it to get wet! Not really a worry though as the weather was so hot a cold shower was needed anyway. Overall a superb location and a fantastic place to stay with multiple fabulous beaches either 2 minutes walk away or more choices 15 minutes walk away. “Restaurant” prices vary a lot both in food and drinks, look out for happy hour offers, Banks lager can very from 3 bottles for 12 Barbados dollars to 9 dollars per bottle depending when and where you are. We went exploring and would recommend Harrison’s Cave in the centre, also Rihanna’s house on the beach at Sandy Lane was amazing, as were the Turtles and Frigate birds at the same beach. Enjoy your holiday, it’s a trip of a lifetime and the Rostrevor Appartments are a great place to base yourself. Rob and Lyn..

We stayed at the Rostrevor for 7 nights in early January. Our room was a pool deck room and opened up onto a fairly large terrace next door to the bar and looking straight out to sea.
The room was large and had everything you needed in terms of fridge, TV, kettle, iron and ironing board and even a cooker and microwave. The bed was comfortable and the housekeeping staff kept it very clean. But the bathroom was tiny and in dire need of an update, it also had a window that had no glass into some kind of storage room that the hotel staff used day and night so it was very noisy.
We also had very very noisy neighbours who got up at 0600 everyday and sat on their terrace talking and playing the radio, not the hotels fault at all but spoiled our stay somewhat.
There was never an issue getting a sun bed, the double bed cabanas were rarely used but that was because they were so grubby I don’t think anyone wanted to sit on them, the cushions need a good wash.
Location wise it’s perfect if you want to be in the middle of all of the action as it’s right in the middle of the main drag of bars and restaurants but that does mean it’s noisy at nights, twice we could hear music until gone 3am.
Would we return? Probably not, it wasn’t terrible and we enjoyed our week in St Lawrence but we would probably chose a different hotel if we returned.

Just back from 2 weeks at Rostrevor and have to say what a fantastic experience we had.We were on second floor to right of reception looking from the road and just amazing sea views from our balcony .We could even see the turtles from our room which was amazing..! Plenty of restaurants and bars close by either way,.which all had great food.If you want cheap beers,go straight across the road to Salvinas mini mart-4 beers for 12 bbd. Walk up to main road and get the white reggae buses,3.50 either way and go to Bridgetown or Oistins the other way, great value, and an experience.-We had a day out at the boatyard, brilliant snorkelling trip included and well worth doing as loads of turtles to swim with. Hotel is good for the price, lovely happy maids came every day to clean and change towels etc.Note-take toiletries, although advertised, you don’t get shampoo or shower gel,but you get bars of soap. Overall an awesome holiday on the gorgeous island of Barbados. This was our second time on barbados but won’t be long before were back for a third!

Second time at the rostrevor and find this the perfect location, situated on the gap with bars and restaurants direct outside
Hotel is clean and moderne staff amazing so helpful and friendly, we stay self catering and kitchen has all you need if you want to make meals, we found the hotel breakfast menu reasonable so never bothered making our own.
Lots to do in the gap, best places to eat and not expensive
mimosa next door, amazing postcard views, had breakfast, lunch and dinner here in different occasions, best to book for evenings.
Harlequins next door and I think it’s part of the hotel ? Food lovely !
Happy days 5 min walk to the right, facing southern palms great spot for breakfast, lunch
My friends place for evenings live music best on the island, so friendly !!! Always find you somewhere to sit and happy hour is fab, stock up
Mc naughty Irish bar, again great bar, drinks all reasonable and food nice but can be a little expensive than others
Harbour lights IS A MUST TRIP, transport, drinks and food all included in the price $120bj and worth ever penny, live entertainment on the beach locations and drinks are flowing, steak is amazing ! If you don’t go you’ll be disappointed
Oistins Friday night, $25b taxi using pick up app same as uber in uk and for the z bus back, eat at pats place and arrive for 5:30 perfect time to grab a table as it gets busy
Cheapest option is buy small bottle of Mount gay $18bj get 4 good rums from the bottle if you buy as a single drink you’ll pay $8-$10bj so it’s a no brainer
We were there 10 nights from Manchester ate, drank and never budgeted, included harbour lights and a private car to do an island tour around. All the island and spent £1000 each !
Think of the cost as same as uk and bring enough …. Can’t wait to return no need for all inclusive

We stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks in November 2021. We had an ocean front studio and it served our purposes very well.
The room was large with a very comfy bed and had a small kitchenette which had a microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, 2 ring stove, lots of plates, glasses, cutlery etc - in fact everything we would need to prepare breakfast which we did daily whilst sitting admiring the amazing view of the Caribbean.
There is a large pool area overlooking the sea with a small beach area where you can enter the sea rock free if you fancy a swim.
Location is right in the middle of St Lawrence Gap, however, we heard no noise at all while in our room - however, there was a 12pm curfew at the time and things were definitely quieter than normal due to COVID.
There is a small launderette where you can get tokens for the machines and washing powder and this was very useful as we didn't need to do the usual mound of washing when we got home.
Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and accommodated our request for a late check out.
Highly recommend if you are looking for something comfortable but not expensive or luxurious in a brilliant location.
