The Southern Palms Beach Club is often celebrated for its vibrant live music and cozy atmosphere, although a handful of guests suggest bringing earplugs due to occasional noise. Nestled on the beachfront near The Gap, the location offers stunning beaches, despite occasional seaweed. While the clean, albeit dated rooms charm some visitors, others feel a modern update is due. The hotel's cleanliness and friendly staff consistently impress, but opinions on value vary, with some guests questioning the room sizes and outdated amenities in light of the cost.

This hotel is simple yet but amazing, with an open reception looking straight ahead to the pool and beach, and various buildings housing the guest rooms dotted around the estate. We were fortunate enough to be 10 metres from the beach, a ground floor room which came with a large porch (very handy when you want to cool down in some shade). The pool was right in front of our room also, and the restaurant/bar just beyond. Could not have asked for a better spot.
The beach itself is stunning, powdery sand with coconut trees and clear blue water. Saw some turtles and luminescence.
The room was a really good standard, with air con, comfortable bed, everything was clean.
Plenty of restaurants and bars in the area, there is Happy Days Cafe across the road if you are after breakfast and do not have it included at the hotel.
Recommend getting a Gap burger, down the road there is a greenish tent outside Harlequinn restaurant which serves burgers and other meals in the evenings.

Just returned from a 10 night holiday in the beautiful island of Barbados. This was our first time visiting this island but we have holidayed in the Caribbean a fair amount. We stayed at Southern Palm in an ocean facing room on a room only basis. This hotel was simply perfect, very comfortable and spacious room, we stayed on first floor and had amazing view of Dover beach. Large balcony, room cleaned daily. The hotel was very clean throughout and the staff all very helpful and friendly. The bar and restaurant was very good, food and drinks very nice and competitively priced. I normally go all inclusive so had been apprehensive about room only this time, but never regretted it. There were so many lovely restaurants and cafes in St Lawrence Gap and we enjoyed every meal we had. I highly recommend the Happy Days cafe right opposite the hotel for breakfast it was excellent. We also found the Harlequin Restaurant excellent for dinner, although all restaurants we ate at were good. There’s a street food van next to Harlequin restaurant which sells lovely food if you just want a snack.
A trip to Oistins fish fry is a must, loud music and very busy but a good experience.
The hotel and surrounding establishments all dedicated toTurtle conversation. We witness some turtles hatching and we were able to help save some and the turtle rescue come to collect them to release in a safer environment. Also a load of turtle eggs were washed up after a storm and these were re buried with help of turtle rescue guiding guests how to help - what an experience! You swim in the beautiful waters at Dover beach, sand underfoot and Turtle swimming all around you, popping their little heads up every so often. This whole holiday was simply magical. I don’t often return to places as there is simply too many countries to explore but I think I will certainly be returning to Barbados and Southern Palms will be the perfect place to stay. I’ll be back someday .

We stayed at Sapphire Condo this year. First time to stay in a condo and first time to stay in St Lawrence Gap.
It was a lovely surprise to find we could simply walk in a coverup and flip flops to this delightful outdoor restaurant overlooking beautiful Dover Beach . You can also reach it by street .
Varied menu , lovely cocktails, friendly service .
We walked down there for lunch many times during our two week stay with family and friends , including one evening for dinner . Friends arrived late afternoon Saturday. It was their first visit to this lovely island and we thought they might like the the laid back atmosphere. Bonus they had a lovely steel drum band that evening . Was a great welcome to Barbados , plus it was English Pub night so even more menu choices .
Can personally vouch for the flying fish sandwich and they do a surprisingly good spaghetti. Couple that with a passion fruit daiquiri with Mount Gay rum or a lovely glass of wine and I was very happy .

We just returned from a week's stay January 2023 and are very please with our visit. We stayed in room 314 and had a great view of the sea. The stairs were challenging with luggage, but it is worth the view. The room was small but it sufficed. The room did not have a kitchenette as advertised. There was a mini fridge and a kettle with no stove or hot plate. The bed was old and very uncomfortable. The outlet in the bathroom did not work. There was no table to sit and eat or do anything else at. We had a lovely balcony with a table and chairs.

The food and drinks were good, but you pay resort prices. It is best to make a quick stop at a mini mart to pick up water and snacks. We had the breakfast buffet several times and it was good. We went to the BBQ buffet and had a great time and the food was really delicious. We also went to the afternoon tea, happy hour and the rum punch party. Plenty of local restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Good food and drinks at reasonable prices.

The hotel is directly on Dover Beach and it is beautiful. We walked the beach each morning. The waves were rough during our visit which limited to a certain extent our time in the water. From our balcony, we saw turtles bobbing their heads all day. If you make it our past the rough waves you get to some calmer water and can see the turtles. The only negative thing about the beach is that there are no umbrellas available. The next resort over does have lounge chairs and umbrellas to rent for $20 US. From the beach we ordered food and drinks from our hotel as well as the neighboring hotel. All food and drinks were excellet but pricey. Great days at the beach!

Overall our stay was fantastic and could not have asked for nicer staff or a better location for our visit. We certainly did all we wanted to do and more! Will definitley return to Southern Palms!

We stayed here for a week in January and it was amazing. It was our first post-covid trip and it could not have been better.
We loved this place - large room, seconds from the sea, a quiet pool right outside our room, great location. The staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable. Rodney was very hard-working and a lovely chap.
The beach was beautiful, clean and quiet, and we loved watching the turtles swim by in the late afternoon. We were also big fans of the two kittens living on site and the hummingbirds flitting around.
We had lunch here a few times and food was nice. We also had the best rum punches here, and we tried a lot across the island.
We still talk about this place a lot and would love to come back some time.

Just back from another superb stay at Southern Palms, our second visit having been once before prior to the covid pandemic. The whole experience was excellent again from start to finish, the staff are so genuinely warm & polite and the hotel & grounds are immaculate. Ok, some of the rooms and buildings aren’t the most modern in appearance but that is all part of the charm and elegance of the place which provides an oasis of calm & tranquility despite being ideally located on The Gap for local bars & restaurants. We experienced no noise or disturbance whatsoever from The Gap, the beds are some of the most comfortable I have ever slept in & the air conditioning in our room was really powerful & effective.
Dover beach is just feet away from the rooms & is simply stunning - never crowded, with free sunbeds provided for hotel guests & your very own palm tree for shade….& at night, you can even stand quietly outside your room & watch the turtles come onto the beach to lay their eggs!
This is a really special place & perfect for those wanting a relaxing, calm holiday with all the local amenities within just a few minutes walk .
People return here year after year and you can see why - a real old fashioned gem & a little piece of paradise!

This hotel is one of the best hotels I have visited. Nothing seemed to much. We ordered breakfast to the room one day and asked for a later check out of 2 hours and was given to us with no extra charge.

The hotel is on the beach and there are lots of loungers. There are 2 pools that are cleaned every morning. Sandy never stopped working.

The staff make you feel welcome and are very friendly. Reception helpful when asked questions, advised us on days out and local information on the area.

Evening entertainment was put on throughout our stay and the steel band was brilliant.

Every day at the beach we saw turtles swimming in the sea. Richard was very helpful and informative when I found a baby turtle nest hatching and allowed us to be part of it which was amazing!!! Thank you.

I have to make a special mention to the catering staff and the waitresses. The food in this hotel is really nice. We had breakfast lunch and dinners throughout our stay. I highly recommend the beachcomber for lunch. My water glass was kept topped up throughout meals and drinks they couldn’t work hard enough. I didn’t have one bad meal.

In fact we didn’t have one bad meal during our time in Barbados.

Beautiful grounds and views.

I will be recommending to all my friends and family and I would 1000% like to revisit this hotel again.

My daughter and I finally made it to beautiful Barbados after a couple of years Covid delay!
Did not disappoint.
When we arrived our allocated room was on the first floor,I was worried about the stairs if it rained, they are marble and might be slippery.
Jenni on reception was so helpful, said they could move us in the morning.
New room was fantastic, ground floor corner room which overlooked the beach and gardens and much bigger, there was also a complimentary bottle of rum to welcome us from management, very nice touch (+2 bottles of Coke)
The hotel is quaintly old fashioned, wasn’t keen on the Sunday buffet! but it did seem popular with a lot of guests.
All the staff were wonderful, too many to name,Ken and Eunice do spring to mind.
Such a lovely experience, would definitely go again.

This holiday was to celebrate my Birthday and to also renew our wedding vows. The first room was a little noisy as opposite a bar and also the tree frogs sounded like alarms going off but the very helpful staff moved us to a quieter room. The staff at this hotel are excellent very considerate towards the customers, remembering your little quirks goes a long way. The rooms are more within the making of "barbados, The hotel is located on the beach, very clean and well looked after. Our vow renewal was just amazing (apart from the rain!) and Jenni could not do enough to help and ensure everything went ahead as planned and changed the location slightly to accommodate the weather. The food was also very good. I would return to this hotel again with out a doubt.Thank you everyone for a very special holiday!

This was our third trip to the Southern Palms, although it has been a few years since our last visit.
It was my wife’s 70th birthday while we were there, and the staff couldn’t do enough to make it special.
I emailed Jenni before arriving and asked her if she could organise a large bouquet of local flowers for my room and to charge them to my room account.
On arrival the flowers were in our room much to the delight of my wife.
On the day of my wife’s birthday the general manager Kelly had arranged a bottle of wine for my wife to be delivered to our room, a fantastic gesture and much appreciated.
We were lucky enough to come across a Hawksbill Turtle laying eggs on the beach at the hotel one evening.
The rooms are tastefully furnished and decorated, the bed was one of the most comfortable we had slept on. The air conditioning was very efficient and quiet.
Excellent location for all restaurants and bars in the Gap.
Would I go again- in a heartbeat, think the hotel will see us again next year.

Yes, No balcony's and limited view . If you can afford to splash out, then I would do an ocean front. They are great.
