Very comfortable luxury suite with a wonderful position just a few steps from the beach. Quality of food was very good but the menu (particularly breakfast) didn’t change and there was no variety. The food served in the bar area, however, was excellent with plenty of choice. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Dover beach was wonderful with plenty of sun loungers and shady places under the palm trees. We did enjoy turtle watching!

We had a wonderful stay at the Southern Palms. Check in and out was super easy. The beachfront is GORGEOUS. It’s literally everything you want. Crystal clear waters at the shore that ombré out in teals and blues. The beach is very clean. They keep it chill and not covered in umbrellas- it’s actually gorgeous compared to the endless sea of umbrellas at the hotels next door. There are some palm trees for shade or you can pay a guy for an umbrella for the day. We did pay for one for our full beach day and it was perfection. There are NO creatures to bother you in the sand or on the beach, practically vendor-free, it was February and not very humid, and no seaweed until our second to last day, but even then, the seaweed didn’t ruin the picturesque serenity. The groundskeeper is amazing- you see how hard he works to keep everything running. The bar knows how to make a really good drink. We didn’t eat at the a la carte, so I can’t speak to that, but did do the dining area for dinner once- it was the day we arrived so we were really hungry after our travels and felt the island time when it came to service :/ We are a family of 4 with two young kids. This hotel was definitely filled mostly with elders, but there were a few other families and kids there as well. To be honest, this is probably how the beach stays relatively clear and picture perfect (many elders are at the restaurant or the pools, which all still somehow remained totally uncrowded). They have some live entertainment, but definitely some oldies kinda stuff. And this is such a small thing, but there were soap dispensers in the shower as opposed to teeny little bottles, which I loved. The rooms are clean and cleaned very well. The ocean view balcony is perfection! The hotel is in a wonderful location- there are great restaurants to either side of the hotel along the strip. Daddy’s was a favorite of ours- a local spot that grills amazing food right in front of you and has folding tables. Loved Happy Days cafe for breakfast. The view at Mimosas cannot be beat and the food was great. We had a truly excellent time and highly recommend Southern Palms!

Southern Palms is simply stunning, absolute Paradise, located centrally on the gap just a couple of yards from the beach, The half board option is a must as the food is Excellent, all you can eat buffet and alternative menu ordering is excellent with plenty of variety , The staff are amazing and so attentive, they work so hard and are happy to help with anything... We had a lovely Garden view with clear views of the beach and ocean, the room was just feet from the one of two pools. This is a very laid back hotel with a great relaxing vibe. Boogie boards are complimentary for kids to use, The pools and hotel beach are looked after by the hotel employee Sandy, he is an absolute credit to the hotel and will help you with anything you need or provide advice about watersports or anything in general...we couldn't thank him enough. Top man ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a very laid back hotel with a great relaxing vibe. Shops are located very nearby for any much need holiday essentials, plenty of local bars and cafes... Plenty of lovely local food on offer. The Boat yard is a must for children with plenty of inflatables and trampoline situated in the Sea to keep them entertained and you can swing off the pier into the sea, there are snorkeling boat trips running all day to stop at the ship wreck to see the turtles and see life... All equipment is provided and you get food credits to spend on food when buying a family pass, a family of four was just 250$ Barbados Dollars... Absolute bargain and a must. Pebble beach is a must visit, the horses are brought down around 6am to be bathed in the see, you can take pictures with the horses and have a short ride along the shallow water along the beach for a small donation. Southern Palms was an amazing relaxing holiday, all entertainment stated was just a short taxi drive away. Big Thank you to, Shirley, Eurita, Carolyn & Sandy and All the staff. Can't want to go back ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just arrived back this morning from southern palms. The beach here is by far the best on the island !! My girls swam with turtles was amazing. The staff make this hotel the hospitality is amazing and they can’t do enough for you Eurita is lovely she served us most days!! Sandy the pool man is a credit to this place he is brilliant and never stops he’s constantly looking after the guests. My daughter had a reaction with her eye and he rang the manager at home as he was worried about her. If we return we’ll ask for another room we paid for an ocean view but was more of a garden view but I’d prefer 2nd floor view. My little girl loved it as the pool was right outside the room. It’s really hard to find good hospitality staff and these guys have nailed it. The only thing that was make it better is a little refurb. Keep up the good work 👌

The hotel is situated in a fantastic location, that is where it ends really. Some of the staff are hard working and attentive others are just plain rude and arrogant. The bar service staff s hit and miss you could be waiting 10 mins to 30 mins for a drink and ignored. One night we ordered food it took 1hr 10 mins to arrive and it wasn’t busy. We booked an ocean view and got given a hedge view, when we asked to move it was frowned upon and we were told it wasn’t going to happen, we had to involve the Virgin representative who got us moved up one floor but still to a room classed as a terrace garden view. We could go on and on about the negatives. One positive Sandy the pool guy, Shirley and June in the restaurant are hard working and a credit to the hotel. We will not be returning very disappointed

Just returned from our first stay at this great hotel. The location is stunning on the beachfront. Our room was large, with a lovely sea view, had effective aircon and was cleaned daily. Great selection of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Enjoyable entertainment in house a few times a week too. As so many reviews say, what makes this hotel special is the staff. Lovely, friendly and efficient staff from reception through restaurant to pool and swim centre. The number of returning guests reflects the quality of this hotel. Thank you all for a fantastic break.

Booked this hotel as highly recommended on Tripadvisor and also via travel agency and so glad we did. Warm welcome from Jenni on reception and every member of staff made our holiday a memorable one, happy, helpful and very hardworking. Our room was perfectly positioned with a sea view and opened out straight to the pool, simply but comfortably furnished and kept very clean. We enjoyed excellent breakfasts, Suzy’s omelettes were always a treat….had a couple of meals in the evening which were good but we tended to go out otherwise. Entertainment by the steel band was superb. David in the sports facilities room was very friendly and helpful with lending out boogie boards. The hotel has a very warm and friendly atmosphere and we enjoyed the company of the other clientele, many of whom had holidayed there for years. We also hope to return.

This was our first time to Barbados, the hotel is situated right on the beach with plenty of sunloungers and spots to pick from, never overcrowded. The rooms are spacious with excellent air con. All the staff working here are super friendly and really helpful, Jenni on reception is great as is Dave - I especially love how he feeds the cats. The hotel is in a fab location for the many bars and restaurants that are nearby, definitely not troubled by any late night noise. Will definitely be returning to visit again after the most relaxing holiday ever

Southern Palms is a lovely clean, wel maintained and beach front hotel in the Gap. The hotel beachfront is long and so we literally pulled a couple of sunbeds under a different palm tree every day with hardly anyone around us. Dover beach is beautiful clean white sand with rolling waves which were great fun and amazing blue colours. Our room had a huge terrace overlooking the pool with a huge bedroom and huge bed. Cleaned every day. Lovely food and drinks in the restaurant. Service is very laid back but it has a certain charm and you get used to waiting - would love to be back for next NY holiday. We loved every day here.

Southern Palms is a gorgeous, immaculately maintained hotel directly on Dover Beach. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff - from Rodney to Richard and Stephen, they were uniformly helpful and kind, and did everything possible to make us feel comfortable and happy. On the first day of our visit, I dislocated my shoulder after being hit by a surprisingly strong wave on Dover Beach, and the hotel staff was an absolute life saver. They called my wife, escorted my young daughter to our room to retrieve my wallet and glasses, and used the in-house taxi driver (the incredible Sunille Broomes) to drive me and my family to the local medical center. The general manager followed up with my wife via phone, and was super helpful as well. In short, we absolutely loved our time at Southern Palms, and the staff make it an incredibly special place. There is simply nowhere else that I would stay when we return to Barbados.
