Really enjoyed my 2 week stay here with my wife and daughter The location is perfect , most of the staff are friendly, pools, grounds and rooms are very well kept The only problem we had is the bar near the main pool. It was such a large area and we thought it could have made more of. Half the time they run out of plastic cups and they just seem very well prepared..i don’t know why they didn’t serve burgers or hot dogs at lunch time as you had to walk up to the Ocean Bar to get any food…that was my only complaint…other than I thought it was perfect

Much work is needed here!!! Soooooo outdated!! Great staff!!! Beach is nice, but always rough waters, so not good for swimming. A car is a must if one wants the true experience of the island. The resort is close to many restaurants in walking distance. Probably will not stay here again, but again staff were great.

We had a great week here and got a warm welcome upon arrival Swift check in Apartment was very functional with separate lounge/diner and bedroom. We only really used the bathroom and bedroom as we were out all day but it was spotlessly clean Bed was extremely comfy and bed linen was also very comfy Loved the swimming pools which were all maintained to a high standard Would recommend and shall return

Our week at the Divi Southwinds was part of a TUI holiday following a week's cruise. We had a ground floor "garden view" room (123) which is on the north side of the building so no sun! The rooms are mini-suites with separate bedroom/bathroom and lounge/kitchenette. The lounge settee is a pull-out bed suitable for children. The kitchenette is well equipped with a large fridge/freezer including ice-cube maker. There is also an oven and microwave. The hotel is divided by the St Lawrence Gap road with the breakfast/dining area bordering the beach. We were on a B&B deal but the breakfast was mediocre/average with cold plates for the 'hot' food which was kept in containers over small heaters and varied from cold to warm but never 'hot'. It also would have cost BD$153/US$77/£64 for 2 people and there a several local 'cafes' for a cheaper breakfast. The hotel website 'photos are accurate and the pool is a good size. There were very few guests there so no proble with sun beds (although it is peak season for the Caribbean). The Divi is a TUI crew hotel so it must be kept going financially on that contract. Barbados has become a very expensive option for UK visitors with mail meals costing BD$50 to over BD$100 with a 15% gratuity expected (Too much American influence!). We found the "Pronto" restaurant (10mins east on Dover road) to be reasonable.

The hotel is really an apartment hotel with full self-catering facilities in your room. We found the room great and roomy and ended up making our own breakfasts & snacks. Location is great just close to the beach and right in the middle of the St Lawrence Gap area, so loads of bars/restaurants to walk to locally. This is probably just as well as the bar/restaurant on site are not great and devoid of atmosphere. The only time it gets going is the Tuesday evening Manager's Cocktail Hour, which was nice. The pools are fine and golf and croquet is available. The grounds are OK but no real shade apart from a very limited area around the main pool. The beach area is much better with a great beach, shade from trees and enough sunbeds/umbrellas. Sea can be a bit rough but not dangerous. Final comment would be on staff, which is generally mixed. Some fine, others didn't really acknowledge you as a guest. The cleaning service was also hit & miss - staff coming to service your room at 6pm is really not great

We had a great holiday at the southwinds. Very warm welcome from reception, even if a little confusing with the tourist tax/credit card deposit in USD/BBD on arrival! Just me trying madly to convert though. We had an excellent 1 bed apartment room on the 5th floor, overlooking the pool. Everything in it we needed(had to ask for hairdryer) and we sussed the oven out eventually. Location here is perfect, Dover beach just a short walk away with loungers. Quite big waves here. Plenty shade from trees and comfy sofas to lounge on. Happy hour cocktails were a bit and miss, managers cocktail party on Tuesday was a nice touch before heading out. Would love to go back but TUI don’t seem to be going here next year. If they do we will definitely return. For value for money this place is hard to beat.

I've stayed all over Barbados and found Divi Southwinds a very nice place to be. We've got the "cheap seats" but who cares as the grounds are so expensive that the road noise is acceptable. Pool area is perfect. Rear gate onto the Gap (where the night action is) and onto the gorgeous south coast beach is very handy. Strong swimmers only on this beach. Aqua aerobics guy is superb. Yes the rooms are dated but the linen is good and so is the AC. Ya pay for what ya get and this hotel is unfussy and a perfect spot to be able to buzz around the island.

The Divi Southwinds resort is located in a highly-desirable spot in the St Lawrence Gap area. You won't be lacking in activities within walking distance, or a short taxi ride away. The service here is quite good, with attentive front-desk staff, excellent groundskeepers, and quality cleaning crew. The resort has a notable perk with their location on Dover Beach, a very walkable stretch of beach with good sand and good surf (if that's your thing). It was never an issue finding loungers on the Divi stretch of beach. The nearby Pure Ocean restaurant and bar is within easy reach for a bite to eat or a good drink. A handful of monkeys seem to make this resort home, and could be seen some mornings. A number of beautiful birds also dwell here. Some birds, clearly comfortable with humans (and likely being fed frequently by the guests) will happily land nearby on your balcony. The pools tend to be quiet, with an older crowd and occasional families. The pools were cleaned each morning from roughly 7:30 to 9:30. A small pool, 2' deep sat beside the main pool, which had depths ranging from 3' to 7' on each side, and 5' in the centre. The main pool was spacious enough, though not infrequent morning rains could send one scurrying for cover. The large building near the main pool is the site of what must have once been a restaurant, "Bajan Breeze". It now hosts a bar that doesn't seem to see much activity (it seems to have only recently restarted service?). This seems like a lost opportunity. Was this once an all-inclusive resort, with this having once been a main restaurant? Some activities are available at the resort, including mini-golf and tennis. A building near the main pool serves as the hub for the activities as well as getting towels. The rooms themselves are adequate for a self-catering trip, with a fully-stocked kitchen. This included a stove, cookware, utensils, a microwave, a filter coffee maker, a toaster, a refrigerator w/freezer (which included an ice-maker). Supermarkets are within walking distance (although you may want to take a taxi back from a place like Massey if you buy a lot). For a basic, self-catering trip to the region, this Divi is essentially a hotel with a few private spots. There are some downsides that knock this hotel down a few pegs, and it isn't related to the staff. The rooms are clearly well past their prime. Shower doors don't work well. Our balcony door was difficult to open and close. The room setup was also a bit cramped: to reach the bedroom one had to pass through the washroom. There was a separate door to the toilet and shower. The nonstick frying pans seemed to have been gouged by someone who didn't know they shouldn't use metal utensils on them. There were a rather limited number of television channels, though this didn't really affect our stay. Wifi quality ranged from somewhat usable to non-functional. To connect, one had to choose a from one of many seemingly-random (probably based on room number?) network names using the same password for all. Some of them never worked. The ones that did tended to get overwhelmed. It was generally possible to check emails and basic social media. But this would not be usable at all for any kind of real work, if that were a need. You'd be much better off getting a local SIM card from Flow or Digicel. This is a towel-card resort, meaning you are required to exchange cards for a limited number of towels. It was generally easy to get new towels, but the card system may be a negative for some. This is also a wristband resort, so be prepared to wear a wristband for the duration of your stay. This may be a negative for some as well. Overall, while I think the staff works very hard and are the stars of this resort, you can see why Divi doesn't tend to highlight this place in their social media. Considering their other locations in the Caribbean, this resort seems unusually-average.

A family of 4, on our first visit to the Caribbean, we stayed in a one bedroom pool view suite at Divi Southwinds for 2 weeks over Christmas / New Year. Greeted by lovely reception staff and a complimentary rum punch or non alcoholic fruit punch. We requested a room on the ground floor along with the sofa bed already made up for the kids, both of which were provided. Less than 24 hours after checking in - along with our TUI rep - we visited reception and asked to be moved. The patio door didn't lock properly and the whistling frogs were very loud at night! (I completely understand the frogs were there first!). Reception staff was absolutely fine about this and we were promptly moved to a pool view room on the first floor, new the tennis courts. The room was immaculately clean with dish cloth/washing up liquid/tea towels/oven gloves provided. Bins were emptied daily and towels replenished almost everyday. Shampoo/conditioner/moisturiser provided. The shower pressure was sometimes weak but not an issue. Cleaning staff were very friendly and always had time for a chat. Don’t take beach towels. On check in, visitors are provided with cards to exchange for beach towels - change for fresh ones daily. Plenty of glasses/plates/utensils are provided in the rooms. We had a convection oven in our second room - tricky to work but with help from a cleaner, we fathomed it out. Ice making machine in the large fridge/freezer. As said previously, an electric kettle would be helpful. TV's in the lounge and bedroom aren't very well tuned in, but we didn't visit Barbados to sit and watch TV! Very comfortable beds, fans and A/C, very efficient. The WiFi signal was brilliant throughout the hotel. Beautiful gardens and trees and plenty of sunbeds around the pools and on the beach. Convenience store on site too. Special mention to Tyrone who answered many of my questions prior to visiting. He's based in the Activities Centre - next to the main pool. He can help with arranging trips and providing recommendations. He knows everything and everyone! Amazing to see parrots flying around. Monkeys sometimes ran across the grounds but kept their distance, hens + chicks, Hummingbirds and Kookaburras and finches on the balcony - incredible! And we did get used to the whistling frogs after 2 weeks! I would give this hotel 5 stars if they’d made better use of the ‘Bajan Breeze’ building next to the pool. Cheaper poolside snacks / drinks and activities could be held here. However, this was perfect for us, brilliantly located and we highly recommend to anyone.

On arriving after an eventful day, we was automatically greeted by fantastic staff on reception. We felt at ease straight away. The reception itself is beautiful aswell as the staff. We were staying in PH7 which met our needs as 3 adults. The rooms are clean & spacious. Throughout our 2 week stay we experienced nothing but great customer service from all staff at Divi Southwinds, they have to be some of the best I have ever had the pleasure to meet. The Christmas Day evening meal at Pure Ocean was fantastic. The pool areas and grounds are kept immaculate. Only reason we are not giving this excellent is just a few small personnel preferences and this really isn't a criticism just think this would make the place perfect. In the rooms, we feel an electric kettle would be suited more (you know us brits like our tea) and the hob takes quite a while to boil when you are in need of your morning cuppa. Secondly drying towels is difficult so a maiden would help. I would 100% stay here again & recommend to anyone. Well done Charles, Candra & team you are amazing.
