Spent seven nights at the Yellow Bird Hotel. A nice small boutique hotel with well appointed rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. The onsite restaurant is excellent. Nice pool area. Great water views. Easy walk to other restaurants and bars in St Lawrence Gap. Would stay again!

My wife and I stayed at the Yellow Bird hotel, our room was on the 2nd floor, 1 king size bed, with a balcony and ocean view. The room was clean and spacious. Had a kitchen but we did not use it. Good if you are staying longer, can save money by cooking some meals. The room had a West Indies décor and updated bathroom, enjoyed the rain shower and water pressure.
The staff was exceptional, felt welcomed from the moment we got to the hotel. Everyone we interacted with was really friendly. The restaurant in the Hotel “On the Bay” was very convenient. We had breakfast every day at hotel, coffee was good. Although it had a small menu, the food was good, fresh ingredients. My wife loved the “Rum Sour” drink Antwan made, refreshing used real lime and orange and of course Mount Gay Rum.
The hotel is located at the entrance of Lawrence Gap “the Gap” as it is widely known. This is a popular area for tourist, safe, with lots of restaurants and little touristy shops, something to note, some restaurants are not open on Mondays or Tuesdays. There is no elevator but the hotel is only 4 stories high. The ocean is just across the street, you can hear the waves. I would say it’s not ideal for swimming as it is used by small fishing boats. You can walk 5-10 min down the road to Worthing beach where you can have more of a beach experience. The hotel is an older property but pretty well maintained and cared for.
Overall if you want to be in an ideal location that easily allows you to experience Barbados and not isolate yourself on a resort, Yellow Bird is a good safe choice. We had such a good experience we want to return and this time bring our teen age daughters.

I stayed at the hotel while quarantining, as per the government requirements. I was absolutely impressed. The staff followed all the set government protocols, however, you did not feel isolated. Service was great from the first phone call I made to make the reservation. Monique who worked at the front desk was very inviting and right off the bat I knew that this was definitely a great choice. When I arrived I was not disappointed, they offered me a welcomed drink, and I was escorted to the room. Each staff member was very courteous, Akeem who took my bags upstairs, was respectful and offered excellent customer service. Monique was at the front desk when I arrived, and she made an appointment right away for the Covid test that had to be done 5 days after my arrival. I had an issue with ants, which is common with being on the island, and they quickly took care of it for me; the manager even compensated me for this minor inconvenience. Any issue that occurred no matter how small was addressed expeditiously. I called downstairs on multiple occasions since during quarantine you had to stay in the room. I spoke on different occasions to Barry, Nicholas and Michelle, all of whom worked front desk, they were always courteous and willing to assist and go the extra mile. The room was immaculate and very spacious, if you wanted to prepare meals for yourself you could with the well equipped kitchenette. The balcony offered a great view of the ocean, and I watched the fishermen go out and return with their catch. The ocean view was quite beautiful and offered a tranquil feeling. The food was very delicious. Every single staff member was hospitable, I would peer down from my balcony and if someone was taking care of the grounds, or the pool, and they saw me they would greet me with a wave and a smile. Sonia from housekeeping was extremely polite and after my quarantine she cleaned my room spotless; it looked the way it did on day 1 when I first entered. The staff to me felt like family, and I felt like I was home. This is a great place to stay, and I just had to stay an extra day after quarantine because I wanted to experience what Yellow bird Hotel had to offer and the surrounding area. And I must say, it was not disappointing. I would recommend anyone to stay here, you would not regret it. I give this hotel top 10 ratings.

I would love to give this review 5 stars for the amazing ambiance but the service quality also has to be taken into consideration. While the check in process was somewhat slow I was quite impressed with the efficient covid19 facilities. The self service temperature check device and automatic sanitizing machine is a very nice touch. It was disappointing to see that after I received a call to reconfirm my reservation and gave them an estimated time of arrival, the front desk agent still had to go check to see if my room was ready. The room was hot as the AC unit was not turned on which is not the standard. The room was spacious, clean with modern living furnishings. There is also a full kitchenette and everything was functional. The view of the Bay from the room was simply picturesque. There was an issue with the toilet after staff left for the evening but security was very helpful and was able to provide a temporary fix until maintenance could resolve it the next morning. The only real issues I had with the room are 1. The safe provided is way too low to the floor so I think it should be resituated 2. I was surprised the floor and walls were so thin as I literally could hear the guests in the room above me walking around. The closing of room and vehicle doors and music from the nearby clubs was also coming through. The noise pollution issues should have been addressed when the hotel underwent renovations in 2015 so clearly a missed opportunity. The property is still ideal for getaways and vacations so I look forward to booking again sometime in the future. On checkout I had asked for a small balance to be removed from my bill due to poor service quality in the restaurant. Michelle I believe is her name the front desk agent said she had to speak with the manager regarding this situation. She asked if I could have a seat for a few minutes until she heard from the Manager but I was pressed for time I had to leave. I asked if she still had my credit card information in the event my request was denied. She said yes and I left. I have yet to get a call or email regarding the outcome of my request. I can only assume since my card was not processed that the charge was removed. I certainly hope this is not the standard of the organization.

Thank you so much for taking the time out to share with us your Yellow Bird experience. We are thrilled you enjoyed our ambiance, including the view from our property and the amenities our rooms offer. You are indeed correct; service quality must be considered and is extremely important to us. After investigating your check-in experience, we would take ownership of the seemly lengthy check-in process, as we are trying our best to follow protocols and ensure a clean and safe environment for all of quests and of course our team. As you know, we are also a quarantine facility with this high touched areas are sanitized after guests; which is what our Front Desk Agent was trying to ensure happened prior to you making your way to your room. Although we did indeed receive verbal confirmation from you with regards to your arrival time, you can appreciate in such a climate we receive last minute cancellations especially from unsecured reservations such as yours although guests have confirmed an arrival time. Additionally, it is not our standard to turn on the AC in a guest room prior to arrival for two main reasons; 1. We are a green property and as such that action wouldn't be considered environmentally and or energy saving/ efficient. 2. Some of our guests typically enjoy the fresh air and head right to the patio upon arrival. We prefer to give our guests the option when they arrive. In 2015, during our last major renovations, the loud challenge was addressed with double glazed windows and a level of sound proofing for our rooms. We do however understand and offer our apologies for the noise you experienced during your stay. With regards to the small balance on your F&B bill and your experience, we were confident that this was addressed in the restaurant the same day and time you dined with us and therefore did removing the balance we thought was fair. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and for of course sharing your experience. We are thrilled that you would consider staying with us again as we look forward to welcoming you and improving upon your experience. I really enjoyed my one week quarantine stay at Yellow Bird. I'd heard good things about the hotel and choose to stay here above the other government approved quarantine hotels.

My room on the ground floor was large, with a good size patio and wonderful view. AC, fast WiFi and excellent kitchenette (which I did plan on using but never did because On the Bay food is delicious and very reasonably priced!).

I was asked on arrival if I wanted a public or private 2nd Covid test, I opted for the public one and everything was arranged for me (you only pay for the taxi which will wait for you and bring you back). I was in and out of the medical centre within 10 minutes and result received by email from the Ministry of Health within 24 hours. These times may increase as the tourist figures pick up but the hotel will send you to a Medical Centre with the shortest wait time so your not waiting around longer than necessary.

Staff are very efficient and helpful. A special thanks to the room service staff.

Rooms are not cleaned whilst in quarantine/until you have the negative 2nd Covid test (for obvious reasons), but you can request fresh bed linen, and you do have to stay in your room. Barbados had to tighten their protocols because people were breaking the rules so I completely understand this. To be honest staying in my room for a week with a lovely patio wasn't a hardship for me. Everything will be explained to you via a pre-arrival email. If in doubt email the hotel and they will respond quickly.

I highly recommend this hotel for quarantine and non-quarantine stays.

Thanks to all the team :)

This hotel was amazing for our large family group.

Firstly the reception staff were brilliant they advised our group several different events and trips to take, all of which were organised by them and helped make our time on the island. They also worked to get tables booked at multiple restaurants which wasn’t easy for a group of 15. They was alway glad to help and couldn’t do enough to make our holiday memorable.

The bar/restaurant staff were also great for our group we have a 2 year old who the staff was excellent with from playing with him to making sure hot dishes were placed away from him at the table. The staff took the time to learn everyone’s name and make us feel so welcome each visit. The food was good and the selection was great from basics for the kids to some local favourites for the adults we actually thought the restaurant was better quality than certain local restaurants.

The room staff were so accommodating sometimes when they come to clean the room our little boy was napping and they simply moved on and said let reception know when he’s finished and we will come back to suit you. To add to that the room was spotless every time they had been.

Also over the road from the hotel was a little beach mostly used by fishermen but we on most days borrowed snorkels from reception and went swimming with turtles literally meters from the hotel!

All of the staff and of course the quality of the room/hotel all helped make our family holiday one to remember! I honestly can’t thank them all enough you all individually made us feel welcome.

We hope to return in future and see you all soon.

We’ve just had a week at the Yellow Bird Hotel. We had originally booked a couple of years ago but our holiday got delayed due to covid.
We arrived from the airport by taxi after a pretty long and a bit stressful time getting through the airport due to long queues and hassle with covid paperwork.

However we immediately began to relax when we got to the hotel. Check in was smooth, temperature checks and sanitiser on reception and everyone wore masks.
We were in room 404 which was a top floor , spacious room with balcony overlooking a lovely bay.
Big bed, firm but fairly comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space, safe, tv, decent bathroom with a good shower. There is also a kitchen which we didn’t use other than to make drinks. It was useful to have a fridge though.
Only possible negative were the towels which were thin and seen better days.

The room was cleaned every day and the housekeeping staff do a great job. All the staff we found to be friendly and pleasant. Everything is clean and well maintained. There is a small pool at the front of the hotel with some very comfy sun beds and good umbrellas.

The hotel is situated near the end of the gap with nice sea views and lovely sunsets. There were often turtles in the water and I also swam in the sea here.
We only had 1 breakfast at the hotel as 8am was a little late for us as we are up and out early. We also had a dinner here on our first night. All the food was great.

All in all a great stay. I’d certainly be happy to return and I’d recommend it if you want a small hotel in a convenient location for St Lawrence Gap, bars restaurants etc.

Hotels in Barbados have gotten very expensive but the Yellow Bird offers good value and is surrounded by restaurants. Staff is friendly and accommodations are very nice but don't expect 5 star luxury. Staff is very friendly. Visitors should note that the hotel has free parking but no elevator in case you book an upper floor room. Also be aware that St. Lawrence Gap can be noisy at night.

We stayed two nights in a deluxe king room. The room was clean, comfortable, very large and had a full kitchen and large balcony overlooking the sea. The staff were wonderful. This was a great location in St. Lawrence Gap, and especially nice if you're looking for a hotel that is outside of the city and isn't a large brand-name hotel.
We enjoyed a dinner and breakfast in the hotel and the food and service were great.
Fair warning regarding COVID-19 restrictions. We traveled from the US, have been fully vaccinated and had negative pcr tests, all compliant with the immigration requirements. We were surprised when we arrived at the Barbados airport and were tested again for COVID-19 and quarantined until the test results came back, which could be up to 48 hours. We were told the hotel would tell us the quarantine restrictions and were very surprised that we had to remain in our room or on our balcony, could not go outside to the pool (away from people). Our surprise was due to the fact that we were fully vaccinated and had just tested negative. The hotel was very strict about compliance with the quarantine but all staff were kind and helpful and I felt that they were complying with the country's safety requirements. I spoke with Barry, at the front desk, about how I could speak with someone with immigration regarding the quarantine. He had someone from the COVID hotline call me within 5 minutes, which was much appreciated. My "fair warning" is that during the pandemic, don't be surprised if you have to quarantine despite "passing" the immigration requirements. But the hotel managed this professionally and appropriately. If you will be traveling there during the pandemic, be sure to book a room with a balcony for your quarantine period. Fortunately we received clearance the next morning and were able to enjoy St. Lawrence Gap.
All rooms face the sea. The hotel no elevator, only stairs, so request a lower floor if you have difficulty with stairs. They have staff who can help getting your luggage to your room.
If/when I visit Barbados again I will plan on staying at this lovely hotel without any second thoughts.

The Yellow Bird hotel is a great hotel to stay in Barbados. It was very well located in St Lawrence Gap close to many restaurants and bars.

The staff was warm and welcoming, always offering advice on where and what to see. I originally booked for a 1 week quarantine stay but then extended to a full month as I wanted to benefit from the hotels amenities.

Housekeeping was very good, especially considering the additional ash from the La Souffriere explosion. The hotel was fully cleaned with little trace of ash in 2 days. The only amenity that was affected was the outdoor pooled that had to be drained and cleaned of ash. While the ashfall was out of the control of the hotel, they still compensated me with 60 USD of restaurant credit due to the pool being disabled for those couple days which I greatly appreciated.

10/10 would recommend :)

Hey, Yes they do! So please leave yours at home... more space in your suitcase for shoes, clothes hehe. There is a $70 deposit for 2 towels but once you return them in the bin by reception you won't be billed. You can also have them swapped for fresh towels too. Have an Amazing trip, we most certainly did 😊😊

there is no entertainment at the hotel, it is a small building. there is more than enough to entertain you in the gap or slightly further along the main road, all easily walkable. the hotel is opposite a small beach which you can see from the pictures. there is a fabulous beach with chairs parasols toilets and a couple of small bars five minutes along the road, where the turtles regularly appear. food and drink is slightly cheaper than here in the south of england but only marginally, except where you get the happy hours. ou wont regret a holiday in this hotel.
