Based on Macyone's review we stayed here and were not disappointed. Value for $ with helpful service and prepared breakfast when requested for early departure.
Not five star but clean, comfortable and quiet about 10 minutes from city centre.

Since we will be having an early flight to Manila via Kalibo coming from our Boracay weekend get-away, our group (me and 2 friends with her family) decided to stay there overnight. After searching the net, one of the hotel/inn that caught my attention was Suburbia Garden Hotel. The communication with the manager/owner (Mr. Mike Abello) was hassle-free. They answer your queries right away. Upon confirmation, they will take note of your flight details. No downpayment/reservation fee required. You have to pay the full amount upon check-in/out. I am not sure though that they accept credit cards for longer stay. Although, I don’t think it will be an issue to other travelers since their rates are very reasonable (P1,300/room for triple occupancy).

Upon arrival in Kalibo, we are fetched personally by the owner. It was a nice gesture on his part. It made us feel very welcomed even though we will be having a very short stay. Check-in was handled efficiently. We were shown to our rooms right away. He asked us if we’ll be doing some sight-seeing while in the area and gave us a map of Kalibo and showed us where we could eat, buy our pasalubong (bring home gifts) and places where we could visit with our time-constrained stay.

Suburbia Garden Hotel is located 10-15mins away from Kalibo Airport. The town proper is just a 10mins drive. There are banks, restaurants, a mall and a few supermarkets near/around the area. Transportation is not a problem. There are plenty of tricycles plying in-front of the hotel. They could take you anywhere you want to go at any time. Security is also not a problem. They have a guard on-duty. For add-on security, the owner also said that they don’t usually allow walk-ins late at night and those without reservations.

The hotel is a two-storey building with (I think) 12 rooms that can accommodate 2-3 persons per room. They are situated away from the main road so noises are kept at a minimum. The place is so peaceful that you can hear the birds chirping in the morning. Another plus for us are the plants and flowers right outside our rooms. It’s nice waking up to see green around you and not other rooms’ walls/doors. Upper rooms have balcony. Although, the rooms have modest furniture/appliances, they are well-kept, clean and spacious. The beds are comfortable. Free WiFi in some of the rooms. Just ask for the password at the reception. The rooms have Cable TV, clothes cabinet with hangers, dresser w/ chair, luggage table. A/C unit is properly working. They have clean ensuite toilet and bath with working hot showers and towel rack/hook. No mirror inside the bathroom though. You can use the one at the dresser facing the bathroom. Also, I hope they put extra bathroom floor mats so water dripping after bathing will not go to the bedroom. Fresh, clean towels and bath soap are provided. Now, if you need coffee or water, they have a hot/cold water dispenser in their mess hall. Cups, glasses and other utensils are readily available. Before going to the airport, they served us with a cup of coffee. Hope they also include choco drinks in the future for non-coffee drinkers.

All in all, our brief stay at Suburbia Garden Hotel was something worthwhile and satisfying. We personally like to thank Sir Mike and his family for being a gracious host, making us feel at-home away from our home. We will definitely be back!

Given all the positive feedback for this hotel, we decided to look for the contact number of Mr Mike Abello to make a reservation. We had witnessed the hospitality of Mike, also as described by the other visitors here. Booking was hassle free. We arrived quite late and never had dinner yet. As public transport was a bit hard that night. He even offered to drive us to nearby restaurants so we can buy food for dinner. We thought of eating outside, in the hotel's dining area, which was already closed then and asked his permission. He didn't just allow us to use the chair and table... He even asked the staff to set up the table and provide us plates, cutleries, water etc. Note that all these were complimentary and was done in our favour. We had to be at Kalibo airport quite early. Going to the airport for an early flight is not a problem, as Mike, personally offer a service to drive the guests from hotel to the airport for a small charge even as early as 4 or 5 am. It may not be a 4- or 5- star hotel but it's clean and the hospitality of the owner, who personally looked after everything, is superb. Recommended!

I would agree with all the positive feedback about this hotel. It maybe a few minutes farther from the city comparing to other hotels but I don't have any regrets on choosing this hotel. Tricycle cost from the hotel is P10.00 or if you would like to take special trip , cost is P60.00. Mike(the owner/manager provided us with tips on the rates of transportation.

The hotel,is a bit old but the rooms are very clean! door mat, towels , soap, water, utensils are being provided with no extra cost. Food is also available in case you wouldn't want to go out. I'm also satisfied with the Filipino food that they served to us. Mañang who happened to be the cook was so friendly and accommodating as well, they served fruits even we didn't ordered for it.

In checking out, Mike even offered to pick a tricycle for us and pretended to be a relative so we will be able to get cheaper rate to the airport. Fare from hotel to the airport is 90.00. In case I will be back in Kalibo, I will still chose this hotel because the manager/owner went extra mile in providing ver good customer service. I would like to,personally thank him for a worthwhile stay in kalibo.

Decided to book one night at Suburbia after reading the reviews at trupadvisor and I was very happy I did. We arrived kalibo 7.15p and had arranged for Mike to pick us up 2 adults and 1 5yr old girl. He was already waiting outside when we arrived with placard and his big smile. He offered to drop us off at any place to eat or we could have home cooked meal at the hotel. We were given a choice of nilagang Baka (beef in broth soup), fried bangua and lechon liempo (Filipino roast pork). We decided to go straight to the hotel and ordered the lot and it was a good choice. The food was prepared quickly and deliciously. We were very full and satisfies to say the least. The rooms were more than adequate for our overnight stay and like the entire place was very clean, staff were very attentive to our needs and not surprising after mike said most were under their employ for more than 10 yrs. it was very quiet so we were able to get a very good nights rest. Breakfast was also very good I recommend the hamonado longganisa (Filipino pork sausage). I arranged for drop off at 9am back to the airport for the trip to caticlan then boracay and Mike was again there on time waiting for us with his usual smile. He even advised us the best way to go to caticlan. You know how sometimes when you ask hotel staff to do something for you nicely you feel that you are an imposition on them? Well we never felt that even for 1 second during our stay at this placet We even met Mike's parents and family and they were just as nice as him. All this for less than 2000 pesos. The place felt very homey and comfortable. I wouldn't think twice going back to Suburbia again and recommend them to my friends and to you the reader. Go for it! Thank you again Mike for the wonderful hospitality at service. I hope you and Suburbia the best.

Stayed here for one night July 15, 2012. Booked the hotel due to the good reviews from tripadvisor. Contacted them from their facebook as they do not have a website yet. Was picked up by Mike the manager owner himself from Kalibo as my tricycle driver could not locate his hotel. He did not charge me for this. I have stayed in so many hotels and I have not seen such great hospitality as given by Mike. His hotel is about 10 mins from downtown. It is just next to St.Barbara church in Tigayon. So it is quiet and no noise from tricycles. Mike showed me how to get downtown by tricycle. Cost only 9 pesos. Room is clean , air condition, hot water and had wifi. Had also free cold and hot drinking water. Next morning, Mike even SMS me to make sure I woke up on time. He even took me to the airport which is about 10 mins from the hotel. 100 % recomend this hotel for those who want a good rest and have an early morning flight out from Kalibo.

Host Michael Abello picked up our family at the airport and helped greatly with touring information and with bookings for Boracay. He and his wife, Sherry, are very pleasant and helpful. Next morning, Michael also dropped us off at the van for Caticlan / Boracay. We left two suitcases and laundry at the hotel for pickup on our return.

Our ground floor room for three (couple plus 17-year-old son) was of a reasonable size and very clean. The hotel is off the highway and not in the cetre of town - so is very quiet, which we value for a good night's sleep. The curtains are of a lace scrim, so eye shades are useful if you like a dark room to sleep in. The TV was small but OK. The free wifi was good.

We ate at Aquafresh and got very fresh and delicious seafood. The town is a pleasant stopover, with a nice town square area and cathedral. A tricycle into town is PHP 9 per person.
Breakfast was tasty brewed coffee and local Filipino food.

Very nice experience. I just texted the manager, Mike, and he immediately assured me of the reservation. He picked us up at the airport. On our way to the hotel, he asked us if we had dinner already because he can dropped us in some restaurant before proceeding to the hotel. But he also offered if we are fine with some home cooked meal and it's for free because it was his kid's christening that day. We ended up eating in the hotel of course together with some of his relatives. As we were leaving the next morning, his mom were early picking fruits from their rambutan tree and offered us some. Superb accommodation and customer service.

Instead of going straight to Caticlan/Boracay, we decided to stay overnight at Suburbia Garden Hotel - an 11-room hotel at Brgy. Tigayon, Kalibo owned and managed by the Abello family.

We pre-ordered plated dinner - 3 orders roasted chicken, 2 orders grilled liempo and mixed vegetables. Soup and bottomless iced tea is free. And so is 3-in-1 coffee and green tea! The meal is simply delicious and satisfying. Breakfast the morning after is native longanisa with egg with choice of iced tea, coffee or juice.

The place is clean and safe. The rooms, though simple, have ensuite bathroom with shower and heater, television, free wifi access and are airconditioned. The beds and pillows are comfortable; the sheets and towels look, smell and feel clean- meaning, really clean!

Oh, did i tell you that there is a bunch of flowers in a vase on the night table? My daughter discovered the flowers are real, planted in the vase and not cutflowers! The place has solar-powered lights, too.

The Abello family are truly, genuinely gentle, gracious hosts! They make their guests feel like they are friends visiting from afar instead of transient hotel clients. Even the charming 2-year old Adelle knows how to welcome their guests 😍. The hotel "mascot" 9-year old Macy a Lab/Golden retriever mix is so gentle she didn't mind us fussing about her.

We decided to stay overnight again on our way back to Manila as our flight is very early in the morning.
