I travelled to Kefalonia with my wife via a TUI holiday for one week. We have been to Greece many times and have always travelled self catering in a small apartment as we enjoy trying different places to eat and the tranquility of Greek hospitality. However this time we booked a hotel with half board dining. On the transfer we dropped people off at various place s which looked nice but when we arrived at teh 9 muses we both said WOW. It is across the road from the beach and looked fantastic from outside. Check in was easy and we were allocated a room at the back of the hotel. We were taken up by buggy and our cases followed a little later. Although we did worry a little about some of the steps. Our room had the most fantastic view over the sea and was next to the pool. The room was large and very nicely laid out. Twin beds and very modern and tasteful. At the rear we had a toilet on one side and a large wet-room on the other, The basin, mirror and shelf were in the middle . The balcony was large and had table and chairs. The view was to die for. The hotel had three pools but we mainly used the one next to our room. It was styled on a beach and was easy to walk into. Plenty of sunbeds available(no towels put out) and each pair had an umbrella. Now onto the food. We had said before arriving that we would most probable eat out some nights. This didnt happen as the quality and choice of food available was absolutely fantastic. Much better than some expensive all inclusive hotels that we stayed in earlier in the year. The Breakfast had hot and cold food and a great choice. The restaurant is open to the public and had excellent choices of traditional home cooked food. A good range of drinks too. All staff were very friendly and very professional throught our stay. This hotel provided everything you could want from a holiday and would recommend staying here if you ever choose Skala for your holiday.

Room Tip: We had room 508 at the top of the hotel grounds. Bit of a walk uphill but worth it for the view

We have just returned from a week at this hotel. The layout has a village feel with exceptionally well maintained gardens and flower beds. The standard of cleanliness is high throughout, without exception. I will reiterate previous reviews when they say that Tui website photos do not do this hotel justice. Our room was lovely, but the very noisy air con fans on the outside wall prevented us using the patio as we would have liked. They also disturbed our sleep. The pool areas were lovely , always plenty of sun loungers in the adult only pool but the other pool seemed to be more popular. Some Greek or easy listening music at the adult pool would have been welcome. Food was tasty and plentiful. The staff were welcoming, helpful and approachable. Just one receptionist could have been less officious when we asked for an early breakfast pre flight. As per literature left in our room stated that we could ask for an early breakfast , so we did. Only to be told that we could have it that evening and put it in our fridge for the morning. There would be no staff in to provide a cooked breakfast at 7.30 am. We declined and risked going to the restaurant by 7.50 am and we did have a cooked breakfast ! Perhaps the literature needs to be clearer what is meant by requesting an early breakfast. Overall we did have a lovely holiday despite some niggles.

We stayed as an extended family group of 17 in August 2021 with the full gamut of ages from 7 to 83. Everyone had a wonderful time. The hotel is very well situated. The lay out worked for us all and we all found the rooms better than we expected (I don't think the images on TUI's website do them justice). The main thing with the Nine Muses is that it is run so well. Maintenance is obviously important to them and the odd thing that needed attention was sorted immediately (for example, we had a problem with our son's room key - sorted instantly, another time our other son's shower was backing up - I think another guest had put a nappy or something down the drains - and they were on it immediately and thoroughly cleaned my son's bathroom after, with a smile). The staff are fantastic and longstanding. We didn't see any kids in the adult pool as some other reviews have mentioned. The adult pool btw is beautiful. I especially recommend the chicken caesar salad up at the adult pool bar. Food generally was excellent and they were very accommodating when all 17 of us decided to eat in the restaurant at the the last minute on a couple of evenings. Where they really outdid themselves, however, is the care and support they gave when my mother in law suffered a medical emergency during our stay. The managing family were amazing and totally helped us sort everything out and ensured that all of us were able to make the most of the holiday despite my MIL being confined to her room for the rest of the stay. Lovely hotel, lovely staff. Go!

This was our second time staying at 9Muses, we ended up coming last year as our original holiday we had booked in the Caribbean was cancelled due to Covid, which I’m glad it was or we may never have found this lovely place! We absolutely love it here and will definitely be visiting again. It is a lovely traditional Greek hotel and is family run which gives it a really friendly feel. The location is good and the main town is only a 5-10 mins walk. The beach is directly in front of the hotel. The only con for me is that you have to pay to use the safety deposit box, which I have never encountered before. We had another wonderful holiday, met lots of lovely people and look forward to coming back!

Our 3rd visit here since September last year. Many returning guests. Stayed in the newer adult only area which is clean, modern and peaceful. Perfect location in skala for local tavernas and for renting a car to explore the island if you like to do more than relax or visit the beach across the road. You do need to stay on a half-board basis to be allocated the new superior rooms. The restaurant is overlooking the beach and all our meals were great ( portion sizes immense ).The hotel is perfect for our requirements but what takes it to the next level are the personnel. Literally every member of staff is so friendly. I don’t know the names of all of them but a big shout out to Nikos, Aris, Emma, Athena and the irreplaceable Manos behind the bar. Hopefully back next September. Mark & Louise
