Don't let the budget price fool you, Roos is genuinely nice. There's no aspect of staying here that feels like you are roughing it like most budget lodging.

The room is nice and clean, the bed is comfortable, the wifi is fast, the included breakfast is tasty, and the shower is hot. The owners Werner and Hanna (and their little girl Amber) are extremely helpful and the women who work for them are absolute saints. Werner even found me a place to sing karaoke with some new friends when all the regular karaoke places had live bands on a Friday night.

Roos is on a quiet side road so the only noise you here are roosters (unavoidable in small town Philippines). A white noise machine or ear plugs will do the trick for them. It's a 2 minute walk to the main road where all the restaurants are and maybe a 6 or 7 minute walk to the beach.

The company they recommended for Kawasan Falls canyoneering did a good job, but leaving at 9 am is a recipe to be with a billion other people between the group you're with and other groups. I strongly recommend trying to go much earlier in the morning even if this costs more.

It's more than a perfect accommodation. The staff will not treat you as a guest, but as a family. Hospitality, accommodating staff, you name it, more than a 5-star hotel. Kudos to ate Badin and kuya night shift and to the owner Sir Werner & Ms. Hannah. Experience is really unforgettable and will surely refer to my friends and family. God Speed Roos Guesthouse ❤️❤️❤️🌊🌅🎉🎊

Werner and Hanna made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. They are the sweetest kindest people. They really go the extra mile for each of their guest. The staff work so hard and they keep this place so organized and clean all with a smile. I actually saw Hanna vacuuming the mattress in between guests. They even dusted the top of window sills....

Wonderful breakfast, free for each guest. Brewed coffee, eggs and toast, fruit bowls, pancakes with bananas.... Best pancakes we've actually even had in Asia.

The location is also perfect as its walking distance to all the restaurants and beach but in a quiet area.

The sardines are walking distance from guest house and I saw a turtles each time I snorkel in this area too. But I recommend renting a bike and going to whites beach or any other area outside the town as the coral is in better shape away from the boats...

Tip:. Bring some Rum and next door they have the best priced fruit smoothie at only 50 pesos. Cocktails on a budget while you relax at Rios Guesthouse.

Pros:

- well location
- good vibes (hana and the staff are super cool)
- good size rooms (chance of a/c)
- breakfast included
-hot showers
- good WiFi

CONS:
- strong bad smells inside the room coming from the Pipes. Is tried to be covered with air fresheners = strong chemic smells.
- extremely noisy area
- bit overpriced
- water for refill was warm

That was my experience.
I will not recommend or disrecommend, just letting you know what you will find.

I booked a stay at Roos and was very disappointed, room was really small and very very hot, opening the window meant you could hear all the noise from reception and the really loud building work from Chinese restaurant across the road.
Booked three nights stay but left the next morning because off noise.
Hand on heart one off the most disappointing places I've stayed in for the price I paid in twenty years off travelling.
Plus my booking got deleted from booking.com as soon as I left making it impossible to write any sort off review
Stay somewhere else there's loads off better quieter places to stay in moalboal.

Hi, Unfortunately its impossible that your booking in booking.com gets deleted when you check out, even if you having a real bad experience. As booking.com will always give you the opportunity to review a place where you stayed. I'm very open for bad reviews and we always want to learn from criticism, but this review smells too much to somebody not staying with us at all, but just want to give us a bad review to get us down. You always welcome to email us and provide us your booking details to prove I'm wrong. ❤ Werner, Hanna and staff

Just had a 3 day stay at roos and it was just exactly what I needed. Less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and dive shops means you are close to the centre whilst also enjoying peace and quiet at night.
Spotlessly clean, good breakfasts and incredibly attentive and knowledgeable staff.

Thank you.

Look forward to coming back.

My husband and I are currently on a year travelling trip and had booked to stop in Cebu city before regretting that decision on the first night and looking for somewhere else! By chance we found Roos guesthouse and booked one night.
When we arrived we had a welcome drink and Werner met us to explain about the guesthouse and what was around - it was an amazing touch such a small thing but really loved it and made us feel so welcome.
We wanted to stay an additional 2 nights which was an issue as the room we were in was booked but Werner sorted us out with an upgrade but worked with us to make it affordable and within our budget.
The rooms were immensely clean - you can tell the staff take pride in the guesthouse, everyone was incredibly friendly and more than happy to help in every way.
There are maps and advice on where to eat in Town, what to do etc, plus the free snorkels - brilliant on our first day we swam with the shoal of sardines and saw sea turtles in the evening and all for 0 cost!!
We also hired a bike and unfortunately had an accident - Werner, Hanna and the staff was absolutely amazing - I admit I was probably a bit dramatic and upset but they were amazing - not once did I feel I over reacted (although I know I did!) and instead they went about making sure I was ok and felt comfortable - honestly it was like staying with good friends.
Absolutely everything about our stay was brilliant and this has been the best place we’ve stayed throughout the Philippines if not anywhere while we’ve been travelling - I will definitely be back!!

Hi Chelcey, Never ever can you overreact after a motorbike accident. We had one ourselves and we know how it is to be hurt, to be scared in a strange country dealing with a damaged motorbike. Going hospital etc. So you were for sure NOT overreacting. Luckely we could help you to calm down and take care of what needed to be done. And we are so happy it ended well in the end with only a few scratches and a bit damaged motorbike. Thank you so much for your kind words and we are happy we could give you that feeling of being home with good friends. I'm backpacking myself for more then 10y and I work in tourism for 12y, so I quiet know now what backpackers wants. And we hope we can give that to our guests with Roos guesthouse. See you back one day ❤ Werner, Hanna and staff

I wish I could give more than 5 star to this Guesthouse.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay. Werner and Hanna (and their cat Monkey) make you feel like part of the family.

Pros:
- the best wifi we have had travelling in the Philippines.
- REALLY comfortable beds and pillows.
- the rooms are spotless
- flexible breakfast options and also breakfast times (convenient if you decide to dive or explore early)
- great water pressure
- extra amenities like lock boxes, water refills, scooter rental...
- warm welcome and friendliness of staff :)

Cons:
- Honestly can’t think of one...

Really great value for your money. We stayed in double aircon room and loved it so much we extended our stay 4 more days. They were pretty booked up and we had to move rooms for one night but it was worth it as we did not want to leave!!!
Would recommend 100%
Thank you Werner & Hanna.
