Our beautiful, private, seaside resort accommodation is tucked away in a secluded corner of Mac Payong, just 30 meters from the 2km White Beach. Just a short drive away from Moalboal and Panagsama, it offers a quiet, idyllic setting for your holiday. The location couldn't get any better for diving as one of the best reefs in the area is directly in front of your ocean view room. The reef is perfect for beginner divers, and also for snorkelers. However the step walls make an exhilarating dive for seasoned advanced divers. The resort's architecture is a blend of Mediterranean and native styles incorporating local stone and thatched roof with white arches and Spanish tiles. Each room has either a large arched doorway or huge glass sliding doors to provide guests with amazing ocean views. Fall asleep after a hard day's dive to the sound of gentle waves and the wind gently blowing through the yucca trees. Office hours: 8am to 8pm Email to arrange airport pickup with a minimum of 24 hour notice. Check -ins are to be arranged in advance if past or before normal office hours.

What can I say, The Blue Orchid is really just a slice of paradise on earth. I really appreciated the vibe of the resort, where your surrounded by trees, birds chirping and then it all overlooks the ocean with another island in the distance. Then you have the people, Michael, Narissa, Caroline, Nathan and the rest of the team, they really added to my whole experience there, great bunch of humans! I have to also mention that in addition to the diving, organising other activities such as diving with the whale sharks and sardines and organising canyoning was all very seamless and the resort just makes it all easy. Oh and the food, I really enjoyed my meals, top shelf imho. My time at The Blue Orchid was good for the soul!

We visited for Scuba diving. We didn’t stay, but the scuba was something I’ll cherish forever. The instructor I had for my Padi, called Adam was so incredible chill which elevated the experience for me. Amongst the chill, his experience and knowledge was evident throughout and he guided me to what is the best experience I’ve done to date. I panicked on my first dive when under, Adam was calm and relaxed me once we returned to the stop safely. I nearly bailed doing the next two days, but he took me aside for some personal lessons the next day and gained my confidence and now I’m super relaxed under the water. My friend, also called Adam did his advanced open water at the same time, also using Adam the instructor. He also really enjoyed the opportunity to dive to 30M, and do a night dive. Nothing was too much for the team to provide for us. Michael, the owner of Blue Orchid was preset around the resort and was extremely lovely to chat to about his resort and his life experiences. Overall, would highly recommend doing your Padi or other courses here with Adam if you want a thoroughly enjoyable, accomplishing and relaxed experience.

Five stars don’t do this place justice We came as 2 couples and stayed here for 3 nights. We felt extremely welcomed by Michael, Caroline, Nathan and the team. This is a great place for both divers and non divers. The place is well maintained and very clean. The food was also amazing and the staff were very attentive to our needs. The dives even just near the resort were incredible with abundant sealife such as turtles, dolphins, sea snakes, octopus and all types of fish. We did several activists such as snorkelling with the sardines, canyonerring, whale shark etc which were all breathtaking!

Fantastic Dive Resort - tucked away with gorgeous views. We went here because we had just finished our PADI certification, and wanted to do a lot of diving (and had heard bad things about the whale sharks in Moalboal). We could not have been happier that we ended up here; we ended up doing 8 dives with Jeff, who is the resident dive master. He was super helpful and friendly and so knowledgeable - he pointed out so many things we would have missed otherwise if we were on our own. There were so many great dive sites, and we would just go based on his recommendation. The shore dives were also fantastic, and the corals are beautiful. We saw so much, including loads of turtles and a sardine run. The hotel and the food was great too, and they had a well stocked bar. We ate most meals at the hotel, and there was plenty of variety. There is also a really cool town nearby, called Panagsama, which is really cool (15-20 minute TukTuk trip away, which the hotel would sort out). All the staff at the hotel were fantastic, and really made the stay, Narissa especially so. We stayed in the honeymoon suite, which had a roof top deck and chairs where you could sit out with uninterrupted views of the entire coast. The hotel are also really responsive on email, and Michael (hotel owner) answered all of our questions - directly worth reaching out to them and booking directly. Michael was also a great guy to have around, highly entertaining! All in all, fantastic stay and would absolutely recommend. If you want to dive, this is the place. One thing, which is not necessarily issue, there is limited phone signal, and the Wi-Fi is pretty slow, so if you are trying to work a bit or stay connected just be aware of it (its still manageable, but not for zoom calls or anything like that). Perfect if you want to completely disconnect.

The Blue Orchid was somewhere we picked originally for the location, and because the photos of the rooms looked clean and well presented. When you get there and see the place for yourself though, you’re in for a real treat! It really is a little slice of paradise. We chose to go swimming with sea turtles and canyoneering, both of which were very close and easy to get to by tricycle taxi. In the evenings, we’d sit and have a drink, looking out over the pool or the gorgeous sunsets on the beach. The room was very modern and the owner, Michael, and his staff were incredibly accommodating. They even went the extra mile and laid on a birthday cake, romantic candle lighting and champagne for my girlfriend’s 30th birthday! I honestly can’t recommend enough, and hope I get to go back one day to try some of the many diving programmes they offer…

Thank you to Michael and Nerissa for a wonderful family trip at Blue Orchid for a week. To get some things out of the way: yes, it is a bit remote and once you're here, you'll probably spend most of your time here incl most meals, since getting to Moalboal is a bit of a trek on a bumpy track. And if you're expecting 5 star resort accommodation that isn't what this is, and you'd be better off looking elsewhere (maybe Cebu City/Mactan). The rooms are lovely - clean, comfortable, good aircon, and we had no complaints - but it isn't the Shangri-la. But considering the location and local infrastructure, it is comparatively remarkably luxurious - when you think that there is no local piped water and it actually gets delivered by truck 6 times a day, the place is nigh-on miraculous to be honest. Now to the main part - this place is an absolute gem. The biggest reason for this is that Michael and Nerissa and the rest of their team are friendly and helpful to a fault. Every activity is organised around your needs, sometimes with just a few hours notice. Nerissa is super accommodating with arrangements, and is there herself to wave you off on all your trips, whether with a coffee before the 4am taxi to Oslob for whale sharks, or with a 6am breakfast mango to set you up for canyoning in nearby Kawasan falls. Michael is ever present too - hugely responsive from booking through to departure, friendly without being at all obtrusive, and happy to regale you with the most incredible stories! Their attitude filters down to all the staff, who are all charming and helpful to a man/woman. The onsite restaurant has a good range of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner - nothing fancy but all well made, well-priced and delicious. For me, all the other stuff will make the stay really pleasant, but the real reason to come is for the diving and snorkeling. If you don't dive (or if you do!) you can borrow a snorkel/fins and booties from the on site dive centre, walk off the shore to the house reef and spot soft and hard coral, reef fish, lionfish, and plenty of sea turtles. The dive centre is professionally run but v friendly and competitively priced - you can do shore dives and they have their own boat for local dive sites such as the Panagsama beach sardine storm (mesmerising) and Pescador Island. I hadn't dived for over 10 years but Jeff, one of the brilliant dive team there, helped me refresh my skills and got me up to speed to no time. Thanks to him at I saw 8 turtles in 2 dives just walking off the shore, eels and nudibranchs on a boat dive at T breeze, as well as a whale shark at the sardine storm - thanks Jeff aka "Shark whisperer"!! :-) Both Jeff and Adam (who was the instructor for our young teenage boys' padi open water course) were preternaturally calm and indefatigably patient with them on their novice dives - as was Nathan - many thanks to you all. Finally, some logistics - everything is payable on your room bill (incl activities, meals etc) so just bring enough cash for sundries and gratuities etc. There is drinking water dispenser in the pool/bar area and they also sell bottled water. The bar is staffed until 4am every day, although it isn't at all a party resort and is incredibly family friendly. The WiFi is generally OK in the restaurant/bar area but a bit hit and miss elsewhere - certainly not an issue but streaming/video calls probably a step too far. Most amenities available in rooms, but if you're desperate for a hair dryer then probably bring your own. Be aware that there is limited beach access - there is a beach which you can walk to, but only at low tide. I've never written a review this long and detailed for anywhere before, but really felt compelled to. Thank you again to the Blue Orchid team for a superb trip which we will all remember as a family for a very long time!

Starting our holiday in the Philippines at the Blue Orchid felt like stepping into a dream, arriving during one of the spectacular sunsets. Other than the beautiful setting, what we appreciated most about the Blue Orchid was Narissa and her team who arranged all of our activities (whale sharks, canyoneering, scuba diving, etc) with ease and made the experience simple and seamless. We loved how casual and friendly this resort feels, and while it’s a short tricycle ride from town, it feels totally isolated and serene. One of the highlights of our whole trip was simply stepping into the water from the bite and snorkeling down the coast to white beach - we saw gorgeous tropical fish and corals and a massive sea turtle :) I’d send anyone here for a stay in Moalboal.

I had envisaged a more upmarket resort from the description and reviews so I was initially disappointed when I pulled into the Blue Orchid, but this didn't last long. Michael and his wife Nerissa and their staff are so hospitable and friendly you just relax and chill and want to extend your stay. I had a large spacious room overlooking the ocean with very good air-conditioning (though with no fan, tea or coffee making facilities, or cupboards). It was very clean, but I had to climb up some steep steps. This didn't bother me, but you should let the resort know if you have mobility issues so they can give you an appropriate room. WIFI is the best available for the area and fine for checking e-mails. They have same day laundry service at a very reasonable price and the masseuse is very good. The food is wonderful, among the best I had in my five weeks diving in the Philippines Michael had his mother a few years ago and teach the staff to cook meals that Westerners will like, so you don't find the usual sugar laden dishes and pork based menu. Phew! Michael's pancake recipe is excellent--very French. It was my go to breakfast choice. I'm a vegetarian and I had no trouble finding a variety of dishes for the five nights I spent here. (The resort is remote and you will need a taxi or TukTuk to take you to eat elsewhere, so it is important that the food is good.) I came to dive the sardine run which was wonderful. I liked it so much I wanted to do it twice. Michael and his wife boarded the dive boat on my second attempt with their sick son in tow to make sure I got there. That is how kind and hospitable they are. We ended up not finding the sardines, but saw a whale shark instead! The diving outside the resort is also good as there are lots of turtles to see. Speaking of whalesharks, they also arranged a whale shark snorkel trip to Oslob Bay. You get up at 4 AM and drive for around two hours and then wait around until just after 8 AM depending on the priority number the transfer co. manages to get for your group that morning. (Be warned there are lots of Korean groups that nab the early morning spots.) I found it a worthwhile experience as a snorkeler, but if I came back I would do it as a diver. Divers don't have to wait for a time to get into the boats that go out a short distance to see the whalesharks, but can dive in from the shore any time they want. This means you don't have to get up at 4 AM and can go when the light is better a bit later in the day to get better video. You can rent your dive equipment, snorkel, GoPro at Oslob Bay (they provide mask only). I loved my stay at this resort!

The host, Michael & his wife, are very friendly & helpful. They tried to make us feel at home. The staff are in general cheerful & helpful. Much appreciate. The room assigned to us on the first night is very unsatisfactory - with very little water running from the shower , we just could not take a bath properly. For the toilet, we're advised not to flush the toilet papers, not hygienic! The room is small, not enough space to place our stuff. Due to our compaint, we were moved to a better room the following day. The compound is small, not much place to roam around. It's in the remote part of the town, difficult to move around except with car or hiring a taxi. But it's at the seafront, quiet & beautiful.

Undecided where to go, got so lucky we found Blue Orchid resort. Greeted by Nerissa the first time I meet her she is like my long lost younger sister,so sweet and kind. We wanted to do the sardines run so badly we barely made it on time, Nerissa stopped the boat and gave me a chance to get ready, that was so sweet of her without checking in. Now remember she did not know us, we walked in, she did not ask me for anything except how can she help us. The boat staff unbelievable! So helpful and kind very professional. The water was a little rough that day, I was a bet concern without telling anyone in the boat, Rey guarded me and my husband very closely he was our guardian Angel in the ocean, the sardines run is unbelievable! The food was amazing! Off course, behind the scene the kitchen was lead by wonderful Aiza( I might misspell their names) I feel like home but a bit spoiled 😍. I want to join the kitchen staff, that’s how nice they are. I meet a little girl name Ella who kept me entertained I want to take her home so badly as my souvenir. Now time to fully unwind, a whole body massage overlooking the ocean, at first I said no because I don’t like massage because I’m ticklish but my husband beg me to try so I did. Wow! talking about relaxation 100 % achieved! Michael the CEO at first I thought he was just a super friendly guest, then I realized he runs the place, he keeps checking on us and the entire guest. In summary, Blue orchids Resort is a 5 stars ⭐️ Very clean, huge room, spacious bathroom, love the nature environment, beautiful view, great food, very affordable, guest safety is their number 1 priority, above all amazing staff! Yes we are coming back .
