Our beautiful, private, seaside resort accommodation, just 30 meters from the 2km White Beach. Just a short drive away from Moalboal and Panagsama, it offers a quiet, idyllic setting for your holiday. The location couldn't get any better for diving as one of the best reefs in the area is directly in front of your ocean view room. The reef is perfect for beginner divers, and also for snorkelers. However the step walls make an exhilarating dive for seasoned advanced divers. The resort's architecture is a blend of Mediterranean and native styles incorporating local stone and thatched roof with white arches and Spanish tiles. Each room has either a large arched doorway or huge glass sliding doors to provide guests with amazing ocean views. Fall asleep after a hard day's dive to the sound of gentle waves and the wind gently blowing through the yucca trees. Office hours: 8am to 8pm Email to arrange airport pickup or check-in out of normal office hours.

We stayed at Blue Orchid for three nights and wish we could have stayed longer. It is by far the most unique resorts I’ve ever been to and had the most welcoming staff we experienced during our time in the Philippines.

The resort grounds are well maintained, but very rustic. There are trees everywhere and much of the resort is not paved, but this added to the uniqueness of the resort for us.

We had a double deluxe room on the second floor and the view was amazing. The rooms are simple but clean, and we really enjoyed sitting on the balcony just enjoying the view.

Since the town isn’t walkable we stuck to the resort restaurant. The prices for food and drink were more than fair and everything we had was delicious. It is mostly Filipino and Asian dishes, but there were a couple western options to choose from.

The beach was fairly small, but the resort wasn’t crowded so we didn’t have any issues getting a spot. However, the beach was definitely designed with divers in mind. The sand is very hard and rocky, and the only water access is via stairs. But the resort had an incredible reef in front that made it worth it, and we still really liked lounging on the beach with a cocktail.

We booked the canyoneering tour and wish we could have done more activities with this resort. The tour was very well organized and definitely a once in a lifetime experience. We also booked a massage and really liked that the massage room opened up to the ocean.

Overall a great resort if you are looking to connect with nature and get away from it all. Friendly staff, good food and great views made this a 5 star resort.

The Blue Orchid is a fantastic hotel, tucked away from the busier towns with everything you need available on site. We were able to book tours and airport transfers through the hotel and did a beginner's dive with them as well which was very good. The house reef is great to snorkel on and the pool area is very relaxed. Anna-sara and Richard were great and we especially loved Maple the dog! The food was delicious and well priced but service could be a little slow and meals would often arrive with quite a large gap meaning one person would be finished before the other started eating. The staff were are very lovely and friendly though and we would love to return!

We loved the Blue Orchid! Richard and Anna-Sara are great hosts and a credit to the hotel. Same goes for all the staff from barmen to cleaners. The resort has a very family feel to it, resident pets that have been rescued from around the island, you forget you are in a resort feels like home quite quickly. Richard and Anna Sara check you in and also are responsible for taking you out on the dives. We had bad luck with windy weather so didn’t see a lot on the first dive but the sardine run was a once in a lifetime sight to see. Booked other trips and motorbike hire which was all very convenient and fairly priced - canyoneering is a must too. Resort was emptying out towards the end due to the Covid-19 but this is probably one of the safer places to be, it’s tucked out the way and secluded!

Long review, but worth the read 😊

Be prepared for a true 4 hour drive from the Cebu city airport. The drive is bumpy and windy but if you are looking for a resort off the beaten path then it is sooo worth it.

As you approach the drive leading to the resort you are asked to pay a one time fee of 50php for the environmental fee. This is not part of the resort, but something to be aware of.

The staff and owner were very kind and welcoming. The restaurant was one of our favorite parts of our stay. There were many options to chose from and all very delicious. The restaurant hours were reasonable, 8am-8pm, and if you had an early morning trip to Oslob, the staff would have a sandwich prepared for you in the morning if you asked! The bar is open until 4am each night which was an impressive bonus for those that like to indulge in a cocktail or two.

The rooms were spacious and decently clean. A thorough dusting would significantly improve the rooms cleanliness. The bed itself felt clean but we were given only one thin sheet as a blanket for sleeping which is one of the main reasons I can’t give this place 5 stars. Upon request we were given another blanket. The bathroom was clean and had good plumbing. The outdoor balcony was a bonus for each room! The views were stunning.

The facility had a pool with lounge chairs which was nice for downtime when we weren’t diving! The dive shop was well stocked and maintained. The rental gear was taken care of nicely which added to our sense of safety while diving. The dive guides were knowledgeable and friendly.

This resort offers lots of excursions and activities to fill your days. Canyoneering, diving, both shore dives and boat dives, massages, diving in Oslob with whale sharks and more. They come at an added cost but they are reasonably priced and include the driver if needed.

Overall this place is a great resort in the wild for anyone looking to get away from the main cities of Cebu.

Myself and my fiancé stayed at the resort for around 8 days, we absolutely LOVED it! Now it is isn’t perfect, but it’s these things that make it pretty much perfect for us! It’s not the 5star resort type place that if I’m
Honest, I’m more accustomed to, but other things make up for that. The grounds are beautiful, full of greenery etc. We were lucky enough to be given an upgrade to the honeymoon suite which is HUGE and beautiful, it has a big seating area and more impressively an incredible rooftop balcony! The views up there are mind blowing and it’s completely private! The people are incredible, always smiling and polite, the managers Richard and Anna always came and had a chat which was nice! Even the owner took time to talk to us ( shame he’s a Liverpool fan), and was a nice chap. We did a dive/snorkel with the hotel which was great. And they organised us transfers to and from the airport which is a great service as it’s around 2-4 hours away! All in all just a wonderful time had here! We hope this stupid virus doesn’t effect them and urge anyone even considering going to Moalboal to go stay at this resort! Thanks all! Say hi to our guard Dog Maple! Paul & Emma.

The host, Michael & his wife, are very friendly & helpful. They tried to make us feel at home. The staff are in general cheerful & helpful. Much appreciate.

The room assigned to us on the first night is very unsatisfactory - with very little water running from the shower , we just could not take a bath properly. For the toilet, we're advised not to flush the toilet papers, not hygienic! The room is small, not enough space to place our stuff.

Due to our compaint, we were moved to a better room the following day.

The compound is small, not much place to roam around. It's in the remote part of the town, difficult to move around except with car or hiring a taxi. But it's at the seafront, quiet & beautiful.

Response from Blue Orchid, General Manager at The Blue Orchid Resort

Thanks for your review. Yes I remember the water pump for that room was defective and we moved you to the other block. Had the new pump installed the very next day. I think all pictures of all rooms are online. I feel all our rooms are a very good size but the best way to judge is from the photos. As you say our place is beautiful and the staff are great. I built the resort here exactly to find a nice quiet bit of beachfront away from the hustle but still close enough to get to town ( 13 minutes by motorbike or tricycle)We have the best snorkeling right in front of us and all snorkel gear is free. Our dive gear is new and top quality Cressi. Dive boat visits all major populr sites and we organise canyoneering and whale shark trips. Our land is 1.8 hectares. and 165 meters is shoreline. There is no problem flushing toilet paper only we ask that sanitary towels are not flushed and every toilet has a bide..which i find more hygenic. Your review was kind and nice to us staff and owners. we wish you very very well. Stay safe.

We arrived fresh out of the city with 2 families, and a small entourage after being locked inside for 6 months due to Covid. The staff and owner welcomed us and were extremely accommodating, even making some last-minute adjustments to our booking to make sure we were as comfortable as possible.

The resort has a beautiful swimming pool, and is surrounded in trees, giving it a very natural appeal. There is a small beach with a wonderful sea view. You can walk 5 or 10 mins to White beach via the beach.

Although the kitchen was closed, we were able to cook for ourselves which suited us perfectly.

This resort is ideal for a family or couples. The Internet was a little spotty, but so is most of the Moalboal area. It's a little far from the main town center, but that was fine with us.

Will definitely stay again.

My partner and I stayed there on a friend's recommendation and we were not disappointed. The hotel is in a stunning location, the facilities are great, amazing spot to watch sunset, little private beach where you can sip on your cocktail. The food in the restaurant is so amazing! Definitely recommend the Chicken Red Thai Curry!
Our room was spacious and the bathroom was good too, just what you need.
They have a pet dog and a pet native bird called Esmeralda who does the funniest sound, pretty cool.
Really wish we could have stayed longer in this little paradise but the place was fully booked which isn't surprising. The staff was super helpful and friendly, felt very welcomed and looked after from the moment we checked in.

The Blue Orchid was somewhere we picked originally for the location, and because the photos of the rooms looked clean and well presented. When you get there and see the place for yourself though, you’re in for a real treat! It really is a little slice of paradise. We chose to go swimming with sea turtles and canyoneering, both of which were very close and easy to get to by tricycle taxi. In the evenings, we’d sit and have a drink, looking out over the pool or the gorgeous sunsets on the beach. The room was very modern and the owner, Michael, and his staff were incredibly accommodating. They even went the extra mile and laid on a birthday cake, romantic candle lighting and champagne for my girlfriend’s 30th birthday! I honestly can’t recommend enough, and hope I get to go back one day to try some of the many diving programmes they offer…

We had an okay stay here at the Blue Orchid. We arrived late after a long ride from Cebu and everyone seemed a bit confused. We got settled in and had many issues with Wifi and AC. The next day the AC was mostly resolved and the owner was able to offer some new rooms. The kitchen was open for breakfast on the first day but then not consistently available. It is quite far away down form the main area in Moalboal, especially considering you can only take a tricycle so it takes 20-30 minutes to get there on a very bumpy dirt road. The accommodations are fine but did not meet the expectations based on other reviews and the photos we saw.

We were able to get a good deal on some discover Scuba diving and they helped arrange transport. The hotel is on a beach. The owner Michael was friendly. Jeff the scuba instructor was also nice and helped arrange us to rent a go pro for our dive.

Hi Yes you can but I would advise you to wear rubber shoes as the coral is quite uncomfortable under foot. Make sure you take a snorkel and mask with you as it’s beautiful. Enjoy 😊 Mary
