Plaza Azul Apartments is frequently commended for its cleanliness, including the well-maintained rooms and the inviting pool area, although guests have mentioned that some aspects could use a refresh. The atmosphere is often described as agreeable, with ample space and a lively pool bar, though the noise level and outdated decor have drawn some criticism. The rooms are seen as basic yet spacious, though updates would be welcomed. While the amenities like the sizable pool and self-catering facilities are appreciated, the comfort of the sun loungers and the policies on linen changes have not satisfied all guests. Opinions on value are mixed, as some additional fees seem to detract from the overall worth. The location is a highlight, offering convenience to local attractions, despite the challenging hilly landscape. Service is generally regarded as friendly and accommodating, with occasional lapses noted during the checkout process.

We stayed here at the end of November 2024 for a week, first impressions were that it was very clean, in fact the cleaners were out daily cleaning rooms and the outside. Only used the pool bar once on our last day as preferred the walk to the beach, there is a hill down to the beach takes about 10mins. The towels and bedding were changed once a week. True what everyone has said about the sun loungers, couldn't get 1 for love nor money, found it hilarious watching them late at night putting their towels out only to find on one occasion these had been took off and loungers stacked and chained, the faces next morning were hilarious. We hired the safe which was 15euros for the week with a 5euro deposit for the key which was refundable. All the staff were very friendly and eager to help. The rooms do look very tired and are in need if a revamp! Shower was good hot water all the time. We enjoyed our week here and would probably book again.

Room was clean but bath was extremely stained and looked like a bath mat had been left to rot and disintegrate not a good look.
Our room was always in the shade no sunshine what so ever.
The towel and sunbeds situation is a joke we are early risers and not once did we get a sunbed on the sunny side of the pool and this was low season. There is definitely not enough beds for the amount of appartments. The hotel needs to be stricter with towels on the beds as a lot were not even used throughout the day. On the plus side we had some lovely days on the beach not what we planned but the beach is lolvey. The only downside is we planned to spend more time in the hotel as we have walking difficulties and knew we were up a hill the hill is not quite cardiac hill but it's on par if you have health problems.
The reception were freindly and helpful and could not fault the reception.
Although having a tv is not priority on holiday we did pay a returnable deposit for the tv and was impressed itv bbc and we could sign into the likes of Netflix ect with a excellent connection, the WiFi in the room was very good.
Not sure I would book this hotel again.

I have recently returned from a last minute cheap deal with Jet2.com for 4 nights (18/22nd December) with my husband, toddler and parents.

The apartments are a good size with plenty of self catering amenities. The facilities within the hotel are good and the pool is a great size and the food at the pool bar is really nice.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a safety deposit box in the room charged at €15 with a €5 refund on departure. The TV is available for a €10 deposit again which is refundable.

However, there is a couple of small criticisms based on personal preference. The rooms are only cleaned every few days, towels are of poor quality and not effective (we had to buy our own as they were shocking!) these are also only changed every few days, bedding is only changed once a week.

For those with mobility issues or prams the apartments are situated at the top of a steep hill (we had a pram). However, a taxi is only a couple of euros if required.

All been said we had a brilliant stay and would happily return again (with our own towels lol).

Stayed here late October 2 adults and our 4 year old. Stayed in numerous places in PDC and thought we would give this place a try as we had walked past a few times as we prefer self catering as our little one is fussy with food so always find half board etc are a waste of money.
Check in was nice and easy (2pm check in) and always found the staff on reception very friendly and helpful. Safe was €15 plus €5 deposit and then €10 deposit for the tv and €25 for the fan for the week as the rooms don’t have air con and it was needed even in October. So €55 gone straight away (we got €25 back).
Rooms are very basic and dated. We had a ground floor room but it wasn’t round the pool and didn’t get sun which was a shame. Usual set up 2 beds shoved together in the main bedroom and then a sofa bed - which aren’t that comfy, myself and hubby took in turns to sleep on don’t think our backs thanked us. Loads of storage space, bathroom had a shower I was hoping for one with a little bath in as the little one isn’t that keen on showers but we managed but the shower was powerful and warm. Fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, 2 hobs and basic utensils. Enough to get you on for the week but you wouldn’t be able to make big meals which was fine and we managed. Maids came 3 times during our 7 day stay, 1 time it was quite late in the day 4.30ish so we just asked them to change our towels. Only on 2 of these visits did towels get changed.
Not a lot of sun beds and most have towels by 8am and they wasn’t very comfy and they stay laid down, I think you could hire cushions for them. Had a little pool snack bar with a range of drinks and snacks pizza chips etc which was ok. The little childrens pool wasn’t kept very clean and both pools were absolutely freezing. I also felt the music round the pool wasn’t very child friendly.
We used the laundry room a few times €9 for 2 tokens 1 for washer and 1 for dryer and then some powder for the washing machine did a decent job washer approx 30 mins and dryer approx an hr.
Check out was 11am, I did notice that you could ask to keep your room on for €60 but we were getting picked up at 1.30pm so it wasn’t needed and there is a room to store your luggage. I believe there is a courtesy room that you can also book.
A few little bits for children in reception like pool table etc. and a big bar but tbh I never saw this open. This hotel really lacks in entertainment in the day and evening, especially for children.
Location is really good supermarket across the road but we preferred the HiperDino supermarket down the road as more choice and cleaner. It’s just a short 5-10 min walk down to main strip or a few euros ride in a taxi.
All the staff we encountered were wonderful but I feel this place needs a big renovation and some liveliness putting it to it. All in all an ok stay but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Don’t be put off by the reviews, I read the reviews and was abit unsure at first. We stayed here for 10 nights and over all its a lovely hotel basis for what you pay for but rooms get cleaned every couple of days clean towels if needed little snack bar friendly bar man 2 pints for 5 euros nice food. There’s a bar in the reception area with big TVs so you can watch the football pool table and also arcade areas for the kids to play. You can hire a fan for 25 euros but 10 euros is a deposit but you get that back definitely a must. Shops are located just outside the apartment, 5 minute walk down to the main strip becomes a killer for your legs as the days go on walking back up but good exercise. You can get a taxi to the main shops where there a McDonalds and Burger King near by and it only cost about 4 euros. Would definitely come back again.

Do not be put off by the Star rating of this complex. Plaza Azul ticks all the boxes for a nice, quiet, family holiday hence this being our 4th visit in a row. Rooms are basic but clean, pool area intimate with perfect sized pool but the icing on the cake is the couple who run the bars on site. They literally made our holiday! Great snack menu coupled with fantastic price of drinks, good music and football being shown on the large TV in the main bar. We can not wait to go back this year and see them!

Can't fault Plaza Azul at all, the things that stood out to me, were how well maintained and clean/tidy the place was. Cleaners go in to the rooms every other day and make beds, swap towels etc. The apartments are basic, one double wardrobe and two single wardrobes each with 4 shelves and then one higher up which was great for our suitcase.
The beds aren't the comfiest but they did the job. There is no aircon so we took small fans, it was extremely hot last week and I'd have struggled without one, they do hire them out for €15 per week. The snack bar was great, and the guy who works there is very friendly, brought us out a little plate of bruschetta and some onion rings on separate occasions when we ordered our drinks which was a really nice touch. As with most places, when theres an abundance of Brits, sunloungers are all taken by dawn, after a couple of days there, we noticed they were chained up until the pool opened at 9.30am which was so much better and gave more people chance to get one. I'd definitely come and stay here again. There weren't any bugs in the whole of the place. And its a short 5 minute walk down to the strip to all the restaurants and bars. Theres also a supermarket straight across the road.
Also, we had a pool view from one side of the apartment and a sea view from the other, what a gorgeous sight to wake up to.
Thanks for a lovely holiday Plaza Azul.

We was greeted by a very nice receptionist on arrival. The pool is nice with a separate paddling pool. We went there expecting a nice quiet holiday. Which was good until they had a large group arrive of over 25 people, booked by Jet2.
They arrived with alcohol in their hands, shouting at the top of their voices. The next day they were by the pool making a lot of noise before 8 a.m. they then took over the pool and the bar like savages. The noise got louder as the day progressed.
Most people complained to reception and went to the beach as the noise was unbearable. Jet2 was informed and later contacted them, then management had a word with them too.
This is very disappointing to experience this behaviour after working hard and saving for this holiday in Lanzarote.
The staff there are very understanding in the reception, but since the new owner has taken over the pool bar the music is something to be desired to say the least and can be on the loud side.
Apartments are nice but minimal with very uncomfortable outdoor furniture. Sun loungers are usually taken with towels on before 8 a.m.
In my estimations this hotel has got worse since lockdown not better!!! We will not be returning!!

Couldn't fault it. The apartments are over two storeys around a central pool.
Large balcony or patio supplied with a parasol.
Kitchen is equipped with hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. My only gripe would be there is only one plug on the central island - you're having to move things around.
Decent amount of storage in the bedroom where you'll find two single beds. Sofa beds are comfortable enough, sheets and pillow provided with a woollen blanket - it does the job!!
Bathroom has bath and shower, never an issue with hot water no matter what time of day
Not sure if I'd cope during the heat of summer as there isn't any air conditioning in the rooms.
TV remote is available from reception for €10 which is refunded when you return them on departure
Towels were changed regularly. These cannot be used around the pool so bring one or plenty of shops around where you can buy one cheaply
The seafront and main area is about 10 minute walk downhill passing small shops, restaurants, bars and supermarkets.
Supermarkets- there is one small one straight across the road from the accommodation but a larger one is only 4/5 minutes away

During our stay there was only one morning where the sunbed wars got out of hand, by 8am there were no beds

The pool bar is ran by very friendly staff and it has plenty of drinks available and it's reasonably priced. There is also a small food menu, inexpensive and freshly cooked to order

There is a bar onsite in the reception area. Happy hour from 1900 to 2100

On bonus for anyone staying long term or with small children there is a self service laundrette onsite

Cleaners do a great job

100% recommend this place!
This was my 3rd solo holiday and it was honestly great. All staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect! They even have a courtesy bathroom to use if you have to check out but have a later flight, and a lockable luggage room.

I was in room A22 which was ideal as it was upstairs so i felt safer, and also perfect for me because it had the sun on the balcony all day!! So I had the choice to relax on the balcony, down at the pool or walking to the beach. Win win!

The room was so clean, spacious and well equiped - frying pan/saucepan/plates/bowls/cups/mugs/etc etc... Toaster, kettle, microwave, electric hob and fridge with small freezer inside. They even provide toilet roll, bin bags and drying up towel which I wasn't expecting as self catering.
Room was cleaned every other day and towels and bedding changed regularly.
Lola was lovely and friendly when cleaning the room and left it smelling and looking amazing each time!!

Location is great, less than 10minute walk to the nearest beach. 25min walk to playa Chica which is amazing for snorkeling and you can see fish even when less the knee deep in the water! You can hire a snorkel for €5 for the day.
Only a 9 minute drive from the airport!!

Lots of supermarkets near by - all very handy with lots of options. Reasonable prices and all roughly similar prices to eachother.
Restaurants and gift shops all within a short walk.

Thankyou plaza azul for being amazing!
