It was our first time to have an official fam vacation since the pandemic and with kids in tow, safety was our ultimate priority. Cala Laiya definitely provided that! As a start, the casitas are far from each other, the dining area and other areas to lounge around are placed in a way for you to not get mixed with a group of people. The entire time, not once did we worry about proper social distancing. Room was spacious compared to the other resorts in laiya and everything is complete from the hair dryer, sanitation kit and lemongrass shampoo/soap in a bottled glass (which is a big plus since I hate single use plastic!). They even put a crib for my 1yo which I did not expect at all. Staff is friendly and the tablet they gave that works as a “concierge” is so helpful. Unfortunately, it was low tide during our stay but the pool was really nice and ocean view by the shore is incredible. Menu selection can improve (pls add more inihaws, pinoy faves, ensalada etc) and perhaps an in-house masseuse? One of your servers, Alona, is super nice! I did felt bad for her at some point because she was the only server during our 1st morning running back and forth in the sand and gravel. But in summary, we had a pleasant stay and planning to go back soon! :)

Thank you for the kind words and the helpful feedback. We will continue to improve our service and offers. We used to have massage services available however, because of the pandemic, we would are restricting direct contact as an added safety measure. We hope for your kind understanding. We look forward to seeing having you in our resort again.

We have been hesitant to travel due to the pandemic, but we are extremely glad we did this one!

We really like that everything is outdoors, that's a huge factor for us. No closed corridors or dining halls - the moment you step out from your room, everything is open. You can choose to dine in the open pavilion, next to the sea, in your room, or even in the cabanas! That flexibility is another one we greatly appreciate during this period.

We stayed in the garden casitas, which was just nice for our small family (2 adults and one 6 year old). The garden casitas are furthest from the beach (not that far at all), followed by the 2 bedroom and the ones closest to the beach are the 3 bedrooms. The 2 and 3 bedrooms come with a sofa bed for extra persons and they are all beautifully designed!

The sea front is very unique. Depending on the tides, the beach can be covered completely by seawater or partially covered by seawater or exposed entirely once the water recedes - all this within a day! When it is high tide, we get to see the fishes swimming next to us, and when it is low tide, we enjoy seeing all the different sea creatures left behind on the shore. The in between tides, our kid enjoys the sand play.

The rich marine life is something to be mentioned. It feels like a visual course in marine science unfolding right in front of us! Over the weekend, we saw many snorkelling boats from nearby resorts stopping right in front of Cala Laiya! There was one day when the water was clear, we could see the reefs from our kayak without even snorkelling! The kayaks and stand up paddle boards are also free for use - another perk we appreciate too. Apart from the sea activities, there is also badminton, a little playground for younger kids, bean bag throws and activities for kids such as scavenger hunt and cooking!

The food is ala carte for now, great cooking and able to accommodate requests that you may have. We are Singaporean PRs so it is quite heartwarming to see the Singaporean food they have over there! The variety of dishes is considerable, you can certainly have your pick.

The most outstanding aspect of Cala Laiya has got to be the staff. I see them giving their best, responsive, going above and beyond in how they run the place. It is filled with warmth, friendliness and understanding! Special shout out to the wonderful chefs especially Chef Noah, Bea, Arvin, John, Carl, Jhona, Aimee and others whom we have encountered and may have forgotten.

Thank you for making our stay memorable!

Staff was very helpful and food was very tasty. Adequate areas for planned activities too.

The room was also upgraded (minor things that add up to a better experience) with things like bathroom liquids dispensers, an upgraded shower head.

The new pool area is also quite nice!

I know you’re at the beach to disconnect, but you also want to be connected at some level. Here it’s almost 0 mbps. Even the net they provide. I would even recommend them to have their pldt disconnected for it being worthless.

However the good points are

Very affordable food that’s quite generous in serving
Very delicious food
Very friendly and hospitable staff
Nice accommodation

But don’t expect too much at the beach, almost unswimable

It’s just there for photo op nothing more

Thank you for your helpful feedback. We are constantly striving to improve the internet connection in Cala Laiya but it continues to remain a challenge because of the locations of the cell towers. We have spoken to an internet provider to find solutions but at the moment, this is the best that can be provided. We hope for your kind understanding.

Cala Laiya is a place for intimate time with your loved ones. Had a 2-night stay at the garden casita with my girlfriend. The room was small but decent and comfortable enough for the two of us. The food was a tad bit pricey but delicious. The pools were nice although it mostly cater to children. What disappointed us was the beach. You should lower your expectations on the beach. We didn't really swim near the shore because it had a lot of leaves and grass below. Not to mention the mangroves beside the beach. However, we enjoyed swimming during our boat tour , which brought us away from the shore. Water was clear and the snorkeling experience was fun. I'd recommend bringing your own kit and renting the Balsa instead of getting a boat cause you can get the same experience at a lower price. For me, the staff was the difference maker, they were really hospitable and courteous from our arrival to the time we were about to leave.

Thank you very much for your helpful feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the balsa raft. The boat however would be able to take you farther to the coves. Hope you can check them out next time you come. Looking forward to your return.

We stayed at a Garden Room Casita and the aircondition unit was deffective. 4am in the morning It made a loud noise! Which ruined our sleep just imagine how tired we are that day.

We were transferred to another Casite the following day and unfortunately there was a gecko (Tuko) on the ceiling and kept making loud noise 2am in the morning.

Paying a premium price for this kind of accomodation is definitely not worth it.

Would rather stay at other hotels in Laiya next time.

The place is quiet, relaxing, the resort is fully booked when we visited but you won't see the place as crowded with guests as the casitas are located with good distances and common areas are spacious. Pathways are well lighted. They even have alcohol/disinfectant areas all over the resort. Very safe place to visit with children. Good food selections and very delicious, i love the tomatoes and garlics on every dish.

We had an excellent experience at Cala Laiya. The resort itself was wonderful the pools are clean and inviting, the Cabanas are beautiful and just a stone throw away from the beach, my Lola (80+y/o) didn’t have a hard time to explore and enjoy since the staff are always ready to assist her in navigating to and from the cabana. They also gave my mom a complimentary birthday cake that we truly enjoyed.

Complimentary breakfast would have made the trip perfect but overall, the Resort is highly recommended! A big shout out to the friendly and accommodating staff that made our stay outstandingly enjoyable.

This is the resort I would never go back to for the following reasons:

1. This is the first time I experienced to stay in a resort that a breakfast is not part of the cozy rate.
2. The quality and quantity of food served is not commensurable to the worth of its price. The beef tapa is so tough, the beef salpicao is not the one that i normally know, the grilled liempo is only pan grilled and the meat is no longer good for consumption, etc, etc. But, the pizza is fair and commendable. Lastly, I had to wait for about an hour for my ordered breakfast and another 20 minutes for my ordered extra rice.
3. The beach is not swimmable because it’s muddy and only ankle deep. The guests would still need to spend to rent a boat that will them to swimmable spot. Also, the swimming pool is small.
4. What saddened me the most is that they have no buffet from breakfast to Dinner.

All in all, we haven’t enjoyed our vacation that much.

We enjoyed our stay here in Cala Laiya. The food is so amazing, kudos to the Chefs! Presentation and quality are all there. You wouldn't expect this kind of quality food for its price. Service at the restaurant was snappy as well - we really liked the tandem of Jane and Alone. They're very cute and cuddly!!! Always wearing their smiles as if it was part of their uniform.

The rooms were not as good as one would hope. I mean it was clean and well organized. Housekeeping asks and updates if we need anything. Special mention to Igoy for always checking in. We stayed in a 2BR and the quality and material of the room itself so bad. You can hear everything from the outside, feels like the room is about to break. There are wall stains everywhere. The stairs are too slippery. They used window type ACs so it made everything worse whenever it tries to hit the temp needed. Something to think about...

The tours was so fun! Imu and Nick were fun to talk to. We had the Balsa ride. T'was so nice!

Overall, service and food made up for how bad our experience was with the rooms. We are planning to comeback, but we'll be staying at a 3BR. We think it's more quiet since the materials there are up to date.
Shoutout to Tony and Jessa from the reception. Remarkable service from reservation to arrival experience. Great tandem and chemistry! Tony is very bubbly and charming while Jessa was more mellow.

We hope to see our Cala Family soon, hopefully with more improvements.
