After staying at the Puerto Galera resort, we were so excited to experience the Dumaguete location. The entire property is gorgeous, full of amazing plant and animal life. The rooms were spectacular, modern and spacious. We were thrilled at how comfortable and large the beds were - perfect for a deep sleep after 5 dives a day! The dive team at Dumaguete was so on top of it - we were amazed at how many divers they managed seemingly without effort. The muck diving just minutes from the resort beach led to the most incredible diving experiences I've ever had. Our dive guide, Genie, and captain Donald were such a joy to spend time with above and below the water. We've never laughed so hard in our life! The boat entry at this location was a bit difficult during bigger surf, but the dive team made sure to keep our hands free of gear so we can safely board the boat. As for the rest of the resort - the staff were very attentive. The entire spa team did not disappoint - highly recommend a body wrap followed by a deep tissue massage! The restaurant views were right on the water, with enthusiastic service from our favorite server Annie and manager Albert. I can't wait to return!!

I've just returned from my second trip to the Atlantis Dumaguete; the last was about 5 years ago. Since then, the resort is even better than it was before ! I brought a group of 4 friends, none of whom had been here before. From the moment of our arrival at the Dumaguete airport, we were treated like VIPS. The grounds are lush, stunning and meticulously groomed. Our rooms were large, spotless, large and well appointed. Beds were very comfortable. I cannot sing the praises of the Atlantis staff loudly enough. Everyone was outgoing, friendly, kind and very competent. They will all know your name by the end of your first day there. The cuisine at the resort restaurant was incredible at every meal. The dive crew were excellent, with a very special shout out to our dive guide Genie, who has the best eyes in the ocean ! The dive crew will handle your gear for you the entire trip, and even wash it for you on your last diving day. You will dive from the traditional Filipino bancas, large and stable in the water, or from smaller covered fast boats. The dive sites (except Apo Island) are all less than 10 minutes from the resort. Dauin is mainly a macro dive area (aka muck) with abundant small and unusual creatures. BE SURE you make the trip over to Apo Island for a day of stunning healthy reefs, hard and soft corals, abundant fish and some turtles. Bring some small bills to buy souvenir shirts from the women who canoe out to the dive boat at lunchtime. This is a VERY well run resort, with managers Kris and Marco actively "hands-on" and engaging with the guests. The Atlantis is truly a 5 star concierge level experience. My friends and and I are already planning our return trip !

Visited on a resort / Azores liveaboard combo package. 7 days at resort, 5 days on boat. Both resort and boat well kept. No issues. Low cost of the trip is hit with drink fees and dive fees every dive. Buy a rum and coke, pay for rum and pay for coke ! You are hit for park charges on every scuba dive. A cocktail a night and dive fees for the resort and boat cost us an extra $800.00 A lot of plastics in the water column. Yuck. Some dives were awesome. Whale sharks, turtles etc. Late afternoon dives sucked. No tipping culture in the Philippines, but they hit you up here. Good deal here ? Yes. Great deal, no.

Hello James, Thank you for your review, I am glad you had no issues on the boat or resort. The boat includes complimentary local soft drinks, beer, and social servings of wine, drinks are charged accordingly at the resort. Guests are responsible for paying marine park fees at the time of their stay on their personal bill; as these fees are set by local Municipalities they can change at any time. We do not include in the vacation cost as we only charge for the dives you complete, if you skip a dive you are not charged. The costs for marine park fees were also advised prior to booking. I am not sure how you managed to reach $800 with only a cocktail a night. While the Philippines does not have the tipping culture of America, tips are still common within the service industry. Tipping is at the discretion of the guest and shared between all staff members, from the gardener maintaining the grounds to the chef. the dive guide, all of whom contribute to your stay.

We had a great stay at Atlantis Dumaguete. From the moment you are greeted at the airport until you are dropped back off at the airport after your stay, you are pampered by the staff. They work long hard hours but always have smiles and kind words when you see them. The accommodations were spacious and comfortable, the food was very good and had plenty of options. After the first day, I remembered to order half-portions of everything. You will NOT go hungry! The diving was good. I love muck diving and also enjoyed the day trip to Apo Island. They have a large camera room for storing and servicing your photo equipment. The massages were heavenly and much-needed after the long travels. I’m looking forward to a return trip! Thanks, Atlantis staff!

Phenomenal! The entire staff, from the gardeners, wait staff, dive team, and beyond, went above and beyond to get to know each us. The chef and restaurant team bent over backward to address my complex dietary restrictions to make sure I stayed feeling top notch the entire time. The dive team made the diving seamless. The furthest dive sites are about a 12 minute boat ride. The trip to Apo Island is definitely worth it. Their tag line is, “Arrive as a guest. Leave as a friend.” They certain live by this value.

We visited as part of a large dive group. Everything was exceptional. The staff treated us like family and had everyone's names memorized by the second day. They accommodated special dietary requests without hesitation. As for the diving, the dive masters were incredible. The variety of critters we saw during the muck diving was world class - including flamboyant cuttlefish, wonderpus, blue ring octopus, and more "all stars" of Atlantis. We also saw gigantic turtles, tons of nudis, and beautiful corals. Our dive masters took care of everything. There was no heavy lifting for the divers at all. The spa is also fantastic and a great way to spend some downtime. Depending on how you dive, drying suits can be a little challenging in the humid climate. We brought some suction hooks for the shower and they worked perfectly. I don't think I have words to express how wonderful this resort is. We have traveled the world, and Atlantis has jumped to the top 3 in my book!

I have just returned for a week at the Atlantis Dumaguete for a Hyperbaric Medicine course. Although not a regular contributor to trip advisor, I felt that the staff at Atlantis deserved to be acknowledged. They really achieve a wonderful balance of professionalism and friendliness. Their helpfulness navigating the airport at Manila when we overnighted on our journey to Dumaguete and on our return journey between Domestic and international terminals was very appreciated. The resort is lush and green and I loved the wall of foliage outside our room. The food was superb and the setting by the ocean was charming. The dive guides were extremely knowledgeable and I felt very safe in their hands. All in all a delightful trip.

My son and I have been scuba diving for about five years and have been on our share of trips--alone and with our local dive shop (East Coast Divers-ECD- in Boston). This year, ECD ran a trip to Atlantis Dumaguete that allowed us to dive for eight days and then, to clear before our flights home, to snorkel with whale sharks. As we headed home, my son and I agreed that this was not only the best dive trip we'd ever been on, but one of the best vacations we have ever taken. Why, you ask? First, the resort is very comfortable and very well-appointed. He and I shared a large, comfortable, bright, and relaxing room. Each day it was impeccably cleaned and ready for us when we returned from a day of diving. Second, the food was amazing. Meals were included and abundant. There was an ala carte breakfast menu. Lunches and Dinners had a daily menu, each with a choice of one of two starters, four entrees (including one vegetarian), and a dessert. Everyone in our group raved about every meal and people started asking for bites of the items they didn't order. And, if that wasn't enough, the kitchen staff was willing to make special orders. The bartender had a great repertoire as well as a daily drink special. My son could not get his fill of smoothies. And between dives, we were offered cookies or fresh fruit. Third, the staff was amazing. By the second day, everyone from the front desk to the wait staff, the dive masters and boat captains, groundskeepers, and everyone else seemed to know my name. I couldn't walk from my room to the restaurant without hearing "Hello John!" at least three times. And the wait staff--especially Rachel and Annie--got to know me well enough that they almost didn't have to ask what I wanted (no starter or dessert, vegetarian option with no mushrooms or eggplant). Albert, the restaurant manager, ran an amazingly efficient operation and was always available to ensure meals were a great experience. Fourth, the diving was first-rate. Five dives a day were included--with nitrox for free. They went out at 8:00, 10:30, 2:00, 4:00, and 6:00 (night dive). Most were short boat rides up or down the local shoreline, and all were fantastic. Frogfish, seahorses, octopuses, blue spotted stingrays, hawksbill turtles, flamboyant cuttlefish, and countless other amazing sea creatures were on nearly every dive. The night dives were great and the optional fluorescent dive was interesting, but the blackwater dive (diving in the open ocean in the cone of light provided by dangling lights below a floating bouy) was a singular experience. The three-dive excursion to Apo Island was great as was the dive at the local underwater hot spring. Fifth, the dive guides were there for us. There were two dive guides per boat and each seemed to be assigned to a small group of divers (or they adopted us after our first dive). Warfi and Jason handled our boat with eight divers. My son and I, together with a father-daughter pair, dived nearly every one of the 36 dives we did with Warfi. Warfi was absolutely the best divemaster I have ever been out with. He would spot a thumbnail-sized frogfish or a tiny nudibranch from yards away, write down what he saw on his slate, swim up to it, and point it out to all of us. He got to know us as divers quickly and made sure that we all had a great experience every moment we were in the dive shop, on the boat, or under the water. He seemed disappointed if we chose to skip a dive because I think he loved diving so much--and his enthusiasm encouraged us to dive more. While all the other divemasters seemed great (we dove with a few on different occasions), Warfi was absolutely amazing and we would ask for him again if we ever went back. Honestly, we didn't want to leave and my son asked me when we could go back. Given that he is a high school senior, I know one way to get him to spend a few summer weeks with us after he heads to college is going to be to dangle a trip to Atlantis Dumaguete in front of him.

While the resort itself, the food and the diving are all stellar, it's the staff at Atlantis that make it 5 star. From the front desk crew to the divemasters every single person there will know your name within a day, and greet you as if they're so happy to see you every single time. I swear they must take your passport photo and put it on a flashcard to study it daily prior to your arrival! Every single team member was happy to help with anything you need at any time, including relocating me to a room upstairs when the electricity in my room shut off in the middle of the night (it was fixed immediately in the morning) A special shout out to the dive crew, especially Jason, Warfi, Genie and Cyrus, who made out groups' dive experience so amazing. They were professional but also a ton of fun, and prioritized finding the critters we wanted to see most. We loved the small dive groups (we had a max of 5;1, often less) and spacious, stable boats to dive from. And the valet service made everything so easy- no need to carry your own gear, or walk up the ladder with it on, the crew handled everything for you! Special props to the guides for regularly collecting trash and nets/other debris from the reef on our dives. They truly care about the ocean and keeping it healthy! We had a medical emergency in our group during our stay (they're fine now) and the management team handled it wonderfully, even having one of the restaurant crew accompany us to the hospital, with a phone to leave us in case we had to stay longer than he was able to. The food is also amazing and there were plenty of options to keep everyone satisfied. There were so many great choices for breakfast that I didn't even get to try all the things I wanted to! I guess it just means I'll need to go back soon?
