Just a thirty-minute drive from the local airport (only a sixty-minute flight from Manila), on a long peaceful stretch of beach, lies the lush and luxurious Atlantis Dive Resort. Surrounded by an amazing tropical garden with some of the rarest plants to be found in the Philippines it is just a short trip to some of the most renowned dive sites in Asia - Apo Island, and of course the local Dauin Marine Sanctuaries. Want to explore more of the Philippines why visit our Puerto Galera resort

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favorite
PRE-Trip: Reservation team were the most outstanding communicators I’ve experienced in 30 years of dive trip planning. Timely, concise, and on point. (Jacky, Mench, Emily, Maribel: You ROCK!).
DIVE TEAM: Very professional, friendly, and over-the-top helpful. Dive Master Cyrus took incredibly good care of us - we’ll be recommending him by name to our friends that plan to travel here soon. The other DMs were fantastic too, we just got very attached to ours (Cyrus). Great dive briefings, accompanied by hand painted maps of the sites (delightfully professional). And as with any well-run organization, we also noticed that the DMs have a POD mtg every morning (Plan Of The Day).
DIVE SHOP/GEAR AREA & CAMERA ROOM: They obviously took great care in laying out the arrangements for divers. From where and how you store your gear to dry in between dives, to the benches laying out, to the awesome camera room, this is exactly our kind of place (a divers paradise resort!).
DIVING: I wanted to see new and different things, and my mission was accomplished. Multi-colors of feather stars, sea horses, octopus, giant turtles, vibrantly colored fish, ETC!
FOOD/RESTAURANT PERSONNEL: Food was outstanding. More over-the-top friendly and helpful staff. Chef was a good sport about my continual special orders. Annie, Tim, Allieta, and King (Bar), and others: Thank you for taking such good care of us.
RESORT: Beautifully appointed. Very peaceful and quiet location.
EXCURSIONS: Apo Island trip was a treat. They bbq the meats on board and lunch was waiting for us in between dives. Here again, the best on-a-dive-boat-lunch we’ve ever experienced. And then some fine ladies of Apo Island rowed to our boat and boarded to present their wares for sale. Talk about luxury service! We also did the whale shark excursion. Recommend doing this on a week day as it’s a bit of tourist attraction. The Atlantis team was very professional about giving us a PRE-trip briefing the afternoon before (what to expect, timing, what to and not to do, like no sunscreen). Brilliantly carried out. And another chef-cooked meal waiting for us after swimming with the whale sharks (DEluxe!).
RESORT MGMT: Joseph (Resort Mgr), Cedric (Asst Mgr) and Albert (Wait Staff Mgr) were very attentive to us. They made my birthday very special. We also lucked out in getting to meet CEO Steve who was on site during our trip.

After a great underwater photo workshop led by Brent Durand at the Puerto Galera Atlantis resort we spent the next week here at this beautiful resort. Once again we were impressed by the friendly staff upon arriving at the resort which is a short drive from the airport in Dumaguete. We had a room right on the beach in the front of the resort which was perfect for enjoying the beautiful sunrise every morning. Chef Varry made sure to to make tasty meals for my wife who eats a restricted menu which was greatly appreciated by us and once again the wait staff will go out of their way to make sure you you have a good experience. This resort location is more remote than the Puerto Galera resort and seems more laid back and peaceful. The rooms had been remodeled and updated with new comfortable beds so very easy to get a good nights sleep after a day of diving. After we arrived two large groups showed up but the way the dive operation was handled we never felt like the dive area was crowded which was impressive with probably 60 plus divers being there. The camera room here is larger than the other resort and well lite. Our dive master Genie was great at finding critters and I liked the close by muck diving sites for photography. Our trip to Apo Island was a nice change of dive sites and the large banka we used that day was a well run day trip. Both resorts are wonderfully staffed by friendly helpful people who make sure your stay is enjoyable so the difference of location is the choice for you to make.

We do believe Barry you got the best of both worlds by visiting first our resort in Puerto Galera followed by a stay with us here in Dumaguete, so you didn’t have to choose between them. It’s also great to get feedback when the resort is completely filled, especially positive words, and we’re so glad that you didn’t feel crowded. Thank you for choosing Atlantis for your Philippine’s adventure and we greatly appreciate your wonderful review.

I stayed at Atlantis for the second time (my first was in 2010) and it is just as amazing now as it was then. The staff (all of them!) actually know your name within an hour or so of checking in. They are so friendly, always offering to help with whatever you need. The food is fantastic, the rooms are very comfortable, modern and the dive team is extremely knowledgeable, organized and helps make every dive a beautiful experience. by our last day I thought I must be in a dream, and did not want to leave. This is the absolute top location to stay for a dive trip (or a beach vacation) in and around Dumaguete. The hotel management and owners are there and are a part of this amazing team creating an amazing resort.

12 day dive vacation cutdown to 5, I will go back.
The room was spacious, scrupulously clean, and quiet. The landscape was a tropical dream with each room feeling very private. The restaurant is open air with fans for cooling right on the beach. The staff knew us by name after the first meal with us. They remembered preferences and in my case allergies. Special shoutout to Rea and Lia.
The dive staff were just as great. The initial briefing for diving and the daily briefings were clear, well thought out and ontime. Our assigned guide was Harnold and he was phenomenal. I pointed to something I waned to see (like a clown frog fish and he found them as well as making sure to find me underwater to show me. He kept track of his entire group, and was clear in underwater direction.Another shout out to the brand new dive manager. When my D90 failed with an issue that couldn’t be resolved without a Nikon service center, Yoshi loaned me his personal D40 setup. He refused to allow me to pay him a rental fee.
Other highlights were the Spa where services are inexpensive compared to the US but to the same standards of a high end spa here. The resort manager, Phillip, who was visible and around to talk.
Too late to make it short but the resort physically, the food, the staff, and the diving were all fantastic. I actually spent more days traveling than I did diving due to COVID-19 disruption but it was still worth it. I will be going back.

Room totally overpriced (and without any balcony/window to open?!).
Twi times the a/c stopped working and require maintenance.
Food mostly good.
But restaurant is under-staffed, take too long to get attention of one of the few busy waitress, also bad if you like spicy food (like us), some dishes are advertised as spicy and totally lack of spicy.
Staff are friendly and helpful, same for diving staff!
Totally disappointed by the massage, they told us "trained in the us", not sure how it is in the us, but when you explicitly write that you want a strong massage and she was really like sleeping..should get trained in the Philippes first.
To co conclude, great for diving, but you can find far better room/food/spa in similar price range in the same town (with similar high value diving).

I've just returned from my second trip to the Atlantis Dumaguete; the last was about 5 years ago. Since then, the resort is even better than it was before ! I brought a group of 4 friends, none of whom had been here before. From the moment of our arrival at the Dumaguete airport, we were treated like VIPS. The grounds are lush, stunning and meticulously groomed. Our rooms were large, spotless, large and well appointed. Beds were very comfortable. I cannot sing the praises of the Atlantis staff loudly enough. Everyone was outgoing, friendly, kind and very competent. They will all know your name by the end of your first day there. The cuisine at the resort restaurant was incredible at every meal. The dive crew were excellent, with a very special shout out to our dive guide Genie, who has the best eyes in the ocean ! The dive crew will handle your gear for you the entire trip, and even wash it for you on your last diving day. You will dive from the traditional Filipino bancas, large and stable in the water, or from smaller covered fast boats. The dive sites (except Apo Island) are all less than 10 minutes from the resort. Dauin is mainly a macro dive area (aka muck) with abundant small and unusual creatures. BE SURE you make the trip over to Apo Island for a day of stunning healthy reefs, hard and soft corals, abundant fish and some turtles. Bring some small bills to buy souvenir shirts from the women who canoe out to the dive boat at lunchtime. This is a VERY well run resort, with managers Kris and Marco actively "hands-on" and engaging with the guests. The Atlantis is truly a 5 star concierge level experience. My friends and and I are already planning our return trip !

We were told to expect perfection but this resort staff took perfection to a level that I have never experienced before. After a group of 27 people arrived at 1:00 pm the staff new everyone by their first name at 6:30 dinner. Restaurant staff from Annie, Rachael, Sam, Alliyta, Rea, Jed and Lauren all of the chef and his team were top class. In the dive shop Marco and his team of dive guides and boat crews worked so hard we never lifted a finger touching any of our gear from set up to clean up. Wing was our primary dive guide and wow he was superb, his knowledge about all of the marine life and his care for the ocean and all of it’s creatures was overwhelming. He knew where to find all of the beautiful and rare life to see. While Cyrus was not our primary guide cusps to him as well he was just as caring for us as Wing in the few dives we were with him. They keep you laughing and having a great time under the water and on the boat as well. Do t forget Gail and Wilma in the spa they kept all of us healthy with all of the messages (our group did a lot). If you want a world class experience in diving and vacation go stay with this team at Atlantis. Love you guys and can’t wIt to see them again.

An absolute wonderful vacation destination. Atlantis - Dumaguete checked all the boxes. Be ready to be greeted daily with smiles and genuine reverence. The lush gardens surrounding the rooms is a tropical paradise. The staff was incredibly accommodating and the scuba diving experience was world class. The restaurant on-site was phenomenal. The management (Joseph, Marco, and Albert) went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed to unwind and just enjoy our stay to the fullest. Our Dive Master Cyrus was incredible and very knowledgeable with all of the exciting ocean dwellers that we encountered. We had a few small issues underwater, and Cyrus was right there to remediate the issues so we could continue our dives safely. Dive Master Harnorld was a constant source of entertainment on our dive boat but I felt like if I needed something, he was there to step in and provide assistance. It was comforting to know we had 2 very well versed Dive Masters on our boat. The boat crew (Irvin, Rolley, and Donald) had all of our gear loaded every day and setup before every dive. They made it extremely easy to just grab your mask, fins, and camera and jump in. I highly recommend the Apo Island day excursion. We were able to go twice and I was ready to sign up for a 3rd trip to Apo Island. The diving there was incredible with experiencing different dive sites and things to see. The restaurant packs a lunch that the boat crew prepares as "family style" dining, complete with white linen table cloth and silverware. The restaurant was incredible, the staff was so nice and accommodating, and the food was amazing. The restaurant posts a daily menu with choices for every palate and they will prepare your meals with modifications if requested. Make sure you schedule a visit (or several) to the spa, the staff was professional and courteous. For me, this experience will definitely be on my list for a future return trip.

The ride from the airport was through a bustling city with not one stop sign in sight. Pedicabs and small buses were everywhere, sometimes coming within inches of our van. But don't let the ride fool you. Once you enter the resort, the bustle is behind you and paradise awaits. This tiny resort offers gargantuan service. The facility was beautifully maintained, the staff felt like family and the food was gourmet in both taste and appearance. Be sure to try the soups. Despite the tropical heat, you'll want a bowl with every meal. The rooms were large, modern and very clean. But that's not all! The staff was beyond compare. Each employee knew every name of every person in our 27-strong group within minutes of our arrival. And their service and attitude were magnificent! After a few days we learned most had been at Atlantis for many years. The dive trips were mostly muck diving, so bring your magnifying glass. Trips to nearby Apo Island offered the chance for reef diving and many kinds of fish and other sea creatures. Try Atlantis Dumaguete. You won't be sorry. I guarantee it.

This was the most accommodating resort I have ever been to. The staff were all excellent, personable and very caring. Our dive group of 24 had a bug go around that put us down for 1-3 days at a time. The staff would bring meals to our room, made ginger tea and anything they could think of to help.
The dive staff and guides took excellent care of our gear and completely cleaned, hauled and set us up for each and every dive. Some divers required extra help navigating the surf and small boats, and they tended to every need. The chef was unbelievable. He worked with special vegan and dairy free meals, besides the regular menu (which was awesome). The spa was wonderful, the people could have not been better. One of our group fell and broke their leg on our last day, this would have been a terrible mess without the help and guidance of the staff at the resort. I would love to go back and highly recommend to any diver out there who wants to be completely spoiled in every way!!

We were part of a group from Boston on a dive trip, so all of us had our own. We used the shop's tanks and weights, but little else.
That said, in looking at others who were using shop gear, it appeared to be of recent vintage and to be well-maintained. I saw quite a few people doing their open-water certification classes there and they all seemed to have good equipment. I would not have any worries about using it myself because this is a first-rate operation.
The house reef at Dumaguete is an artificial reef, but it has been in place long enough to have coral growth and LOTS of marine life. Tides/currents need to be taken into account when diving the house reef, but the DMs can advise you about that.
Hello Helen,
Apo Trips depart at 8am
We do not have laundry facilities directly at the resort, but laundry serve is available as a 'send out' service with usually a 2-3 day return.
Oh...you can charge your phone because all ac plug in adapters are rated for 115-220vac 50 or 60Hz.
They can supply you with a step down transformer. I would contact the resort directly. They will answer any question you have. Like I said they are so sincere.
