We went to Mike's with 12 people. We were a big group with lots of different interests. And they accommodated everything! The staff were so great! The guys that went scuba diving had the best time. We all did Apo Island(divers and snorkelers) and it was probably our favorite day out. They arranged a day trip to hike waterfalls. They arranged massages every day for us and found sparkling wine to make mimosa's for us! The food was fantastic. We would absolutely go back!
Stayed with the whole family and it was simply amazing. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Staff are amazing, stayed for a week and never get tired of their food. Such a great variety and chef is so nice with all of our kid's extra request. Will definitely stay here again.
1st time to Mikes and very impressed. Large comfortable rooms. Well maintained gardens with landscaped swimming pool close to the beach. Good helpful service from all the staff. Tasty food with generous portions. The diving was professionally managed and the local guides are expert at spotting small and unusual critters on the reef. Mikes was the perfect place to chill and relax - too good in fact - it was difficult to get the enthusiasm to go diving :-)
Following my umpteenth visit to Mikes's, which is probably my favourite dive location in the Philippines, I've probably said everything in previous reviews so please excuse any repetition. The rooms are comfortable (with 8 original and 4 newly added) and set in a small resort with beautifully tended gardens and direct access to the beach. There is a small, well maintained, pool and an open air (covered) restaurant area, as well as ample additional seating throughout the garden. The cuisine is local Philippino, Mexican or European, with good sized portions of quality food, all cooked and served by the amazingly friendly and helpful staff who are all long term employees of the resort. The diving is exceptional. There are very experienced local guides, who take small groups of max 3-4 divers and, if there is anything to see, they will find it for you. The diving is done from either of 2 purpose built banqa boats and will take you to nearby Apo Island for superb corals, shoaling fish and turtles etc or locally along the coast for muck diving, where you see all the weird and wonderful - on just one dive this time, I saw 6 frogfish, ranging from minute to very large, 3 flambuoyant cuttlefish, devilfish, dragonets etc etc. Over the years, I have probably done close to 150 dives with Mike's and never tire of seeing the wide range of wildlife available. Numbers permitting, they will also arrange day trips to other islands and dive locations and local island trips to places of interest, if you're not divers or need a rest day. If you need training, there are excellent ex-pat instructors who can give the full range of PADI tuition. I am a BSAC Advanced Diver/Advanced Instructor and travel with all my own gear but the resorts hire equipment is of good quality and gear hire and dive costs are very reasonable. All in all, a great dive resort that I will be returning to in the not too distant future. …
We stayed at Mike's for 3 nights in February. We chose the resort as we were interested in the PADI diving courses and dumaguete is a great starting point if you want to do island hopping in the Philippines. Transportation from the airport to the resort was organised for us and was hassle free. The resort is lovely and the staff were kind and attentive. The rooms are cleaned daily and we had a beautiful view of the ocean and pool area from our room. There is bar/ restaurant where good and reasonably priced food and drinks are served from the morning till late. But most importantly: If you want to do the PADI open water certificate, this is the place to go! Our instructor, Jonathan, was amazing ! The Dauin marine sanctuary is just around the corner and we got to see incredible marine life during our training! We didn't even need to go to Apo Island for the turtles as we got to see multiple turtles right there! Jonathan knows the area really well and even knows the turtles by name :) They went the extra mile to get us certified in a limited amount of time and we really enjoyed every second of it. Highly recommended!…
The room is clean, comfortable, air conditioning is cold, the food is definitely delicious, the atmosphere is very nice, the dive site is good with small critters, all the staff is really very friendly especially the boat man and the dive masters, they really take care of us at every dive, this is a unforgettable trips for my groups, I will 100% say YES for this resort, no regrets to stay here , love all the facilities and the staff and the manager too, Nike, definitely will come back very very soon, 100% recommended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
An absolutely wonderful place to stay. Really nice gardens and outstanding scenery. I love the location, near everything and the staff particularly the boss is very accommodating on our request. They made our stay very comfortable and easy.
We chose to stay at Mike's because we wanted to complete our PADI Open Water dive course at a 5 star dive centre. From the first correspondence I was very impressed with the prompt communication and ease of arranging our diving schedule. Mike's is a very small and personal resort, the grounds are immaculate with plenty of seating areas. The rooms are spacious and immaculate, with extra large, comfortable beds. Walk in showers with plenty of hot water, air con and as with most places throughout the Philippines free mineral water to help reduce the single use plastic. Outside of your rooms are two very comfy chairs perfect for relaxing in at the end of the day. You also get a large clothes horse to hang all of your wet swimwear and any diving equipment on which was very helpful. We found all the staff from housekeeping to the dive team to be very welcoming and helpful. We was very impressed with the efficiency of how everything was organised and nothing was to much trouble. Transfers were arranged, last minute day trips, we couldn't have asked for better customer service and what made it so special was how personal it was made to feel. Nic is an excellent instructor and we was able to complete our PADI and enjoy several fun dives which were excellent. I can not speak highly enough of Nik and Mike's Beach resort.…
We stayed somewhere else as the resort wasn't available all of the days we were there but did all our diving with them. Very experienced guides! The dive centre was very accommodating and professional. They will group people according to their experience levels/preferences so everyone has an enjoyable time.
We enjoyed our stay at Mike's and made use of most of the facilities on offer. The food was reasonably priced and tasty but did sometimes take a long time to appear. Restaurant seemed to have good days and "not so good' days. Well located for our photography/diving trip with access to localish muck diving sites full of critters including lots of frogfish. Also trips to Apo island that offers beautiful coral in excellent condition and ample wide angle opportunities. A little windy (end Jan) so visibility was not great in the deeper water but on top of the reef at 6-10m was lovely. The room was spacious, comfortable and well serviced. The drainage on the whole site, bathroom plugs, outside drains and septic system is very dated and could probably do with an upgrade. The diving services were fantastic with great guides and boat staff. We will be back to stay when we're in Dauin and recommend it as a place to stay when visiting or diving in the area.…
