I stayed at the atmosphere with friends for 5 days - we were a 12 PAX (6 kids and 6 adults). My friends were expecting similar experience as with the Shangri-La, I was not so my feedbacks are fairer! :) The resort is most definitely beautiful, grounds are kept pristine. The 2 main swimming pools were a hit with the kids. Rooms are huge, our bed was very comfy. Housekeeping was OK, but some effort should be made on amenities (for e.g. a 5* should typically provide disposable toiletries such as a toothbrush/toothpaste kit). Food was generally good, varied enough for 5 days but frankly overpriced. If you can, do hire a van/Taxi to go experience food (esp. seafood) in Dumaguete, you won't be disappointed! As for entertainment, the front beach is very nice for relaxing (swimming is rough though ). The resort has a PADI center. Our kids (8-15) got diving lessons with pro instructors who clearly were very good with kids, who had a blast and can't wait to do it again! The bar area was also entertaining, with 1 hour happy hour late afternoon. There is an open gym which is OK. The resorts also organizes some excursions, also grossly overpriced to be frank. Our trip to oslob was not a great experience. Finally, I must say that the service was excellent!. Staff are always pleasant and very responsive to guests' every need. All in all, I would rate our experience as good but not really value for money. But post pandemic, I am glad we did this!…
happily impressed with the level of attention to detail in this property. staff is friendly, knowledgeable and warm, without being overly intrusive. rooms are very spacious, well-maintained. beddings top notch. food options, while a limited (maybe there are off-the-menu items), always consistently good. must try their ceviche and fish and chips! we would definitely return. house reef is a huge attraction. the well-manicured space plus 2 large pools always give you eye candy from every corner of the property.
The place is so beautiful and perfect but the food not good and prize is so expensive.Small portion that why we did not give a tip to the wait staff and the drink very expensive. Our group always go to a resort every weekend
Stayed overnight in one of their private villa with the pool. Their place in undeniably beautiful however their downfall are the tiny details, food and the service. Our room didn't have any complementary coffee or tea. Not even one. No extra tissue within the room and there’s only one roll of tissue in the toilet area. No extra towels and toothbrush provided. The soap and shampoo was not filled. We ordered coffee at the bar and it was the worst coffee I have ever tasted. It tasted like iced water. My partner asked me to just let it pass as the attendant could be new or whatnot. The portion serving of food at the dining area is less given how pricey it is. The pasta tasted horrible - it’s was like the cheese used was either expired or spoiled. Good for a one time experience but I will never come back. It’s also good for just an overnight stay not for a longer stay.…
This review is for the Atmosphere Resort’s restaurant. The setting in the treehouse was exceptional. The staff arranged a heart on the floor around the table made of flower petals and lit with candles. It made our special celebration really special. Overall the food was good, but the small portions were surprising and it made each dish more expensive than what was listed on the menu. The scallop appetizer was well prepared.... but only two scallops? The kinilaw was also very tasty, but also a very small portion . On to the entrees... The Nasi Goering was good, but the shrimp were very over cooked- super firm to the bite. This was the only dish that was generous.... maybe because it was mostly noodles. My Seafood Sampler was the most disappointing in regards to portion. The pan- fried grouper was delicious but, again, so small.... again, only two bites. The plate was really a child-size portion. The meal ended with some delicious chocolate mouse and vanilla chocolate mouse . I would like to return another time to sample other dishes on the menu.... because I think the food is really well prepared and above average, and would hope for larger portions next time.…
We spent a long weekend in Atmosphere in February as a family with three small kids, and we had a great time! Our room was a Family Suite – a large room with bedding for 4 people and an additional baby cot (no charge!). The room was beautiful with lounging areas, a spacious terrace and a massive TV, but the best was the bathroom! It was set partly outside with a small garden, and even a lounging chair. It was about the size of a regular hotel room and we loved having showers whilst listening to the chirping of the birds! We are not scuba divers but did a lot of snorkeling. The house reef is great and shallow enough for the kids to have a go. The snorkeling equipment is included in the room rate which is unusual. The rest of the time we played in the pools, on the lawns and ate. Food was so awesome with a lot of choice (two of us are vegetarians) and we found it very hard to stay away from the cakes and sweet desserts! We noticed that there were yoga classes going on but we didn’t have the chance to try it, and we also didn’t try the spa but next time we’ll avail of the babysitting service and go crazy on activities. We will be back! Fam Bannink…
I stayed at Atmosphere Resort (AR) based on feedback on Instagram and other social media platforms. Let me start out by first saying as always the local filipino workers were fantastic and friendly. Unfortunately they have a management that has an attitude of grab as much tourist money as you can. For eg. At breakfast they have a fantastic coffee machine. Ask for a straight coffee no problem. Ask for a Latte or Cappuccino that's extra sir. Happy hour is just that happy 1 hour. Local San Miguel is 180 pesos. (If you walk 15 mins down the road you can buy the large bottles of the same beer for 105 pesos and keep it in the fridge. I am a solo traveler so paid for that on my booking. I wanted to book a trip to see the Whale Sharks. Sorry you are a single so we have to charge you for 2. 17000 pesos about $400 for a 8 hour trip which was 3 hours spent in a car! I was there for 4 days and each night at the bar I heard similar stories of 'gouging'. A request for a taxi to take a family of 5 to Dumaguete was 2500 pesos ($50) The local bus stops out the front for 20 pesos per person. A 120gram 3oz steak for 1900 pesos($40). Local travel agents will not recommend this place due to the negativity from their additional pricing. I have spent 4 weeks travelling the Philippines and have stayed in 5 star locations and this would be middle of the road. Staying in 5 star places will mean additional charges but I have never had a 400% markup on local beer. Call it the Big Mac index of bars (apologies to the Economist) but it is a good example. Their gym is nonsense. Website has this open air gym where you can work out and commune with nature. It looks like a jungle gym from a kindergarten. The 2 weight bars they have are rusted out. I would hate to do any clean and jerks. The rest of the 'equipment'is a bunch of left over 1970s Rocky Balboa workout regime. No Cardio equipment, nothing for the 21st century workout needs. Oh and the Wifi is non existent unless you sit in the bar or the restaurant. I wonder why? Choose to stay but be prepared to keep putting your hand in your pocket.…
Family fun weekend...Mom, Dad, children 10 and 8. Bubblemaker for the kiddos with Kirsty was a wonderful introduction to scuba diving! They loved it. Apo Island also a very nice snorkel trip, Aldi was a great guide. The grounds were lovely. The children’s pool area was perfect or a mixed age group. The views from all the pools and dining were just what you would expect from paradise. You will need booties or sturdy aqua shoes for playing in the surf. We also did the ATV mountain tour - fun way to see the country side. Wind at this time of year can make for white caps, but also provide a splendid breeze. Highly recommended for a relaxing weekend retreat! Thank you Atmosphere!
Atmosphere resort by far is the most luxurious of all the resirts in Dumaguete area. It has 5-star accommodations that can compare with other 5-star beach resorts in the Philippines. The property is vast with huge gardens for strolling. The beach tho is rocky so bring aqua boots. Good snorkeling in front of the resort but if the waves are strong this is nit for the weak of heart. Staff is excellent and very accommodating. Food tho is catered too much fir the foreigner taste. If you are looking for traditional food from the area, you will not find it in your breakfast meals. Traditional Filipino condiments are not readily available. We preferred to go to the city for the delicious seafood restaurants which is plenty in Dumaguete City. You will need to rent a van tho for 1000 pesos per way. But considering the food prices at the resort, you will end up paying this much anyway. Fun activities are also expensive at the resirt. We booked our activities with Dumagetme tours at much reasonable prices. Accommodations are excellent with cable tv and airconditioning. No sea view from rooms tho. You can cook upon request for utensils as some units have kitchens.…
Giving 4 stars instead of 3 primarily because of their Wine Expert Mr. Ed and how he made our anniversary dinner a little extra with his well placed chit chat and check ins. First time we also finished an entire bottle of wine! ☺️ I must also mention their superb The Sanctuary spa/massage service. My husband and I got their Atmosphere Signature Massage and it was really good! It's been a while since we got a thorough, I'd even say "scientific" massage. Well, it felt that way, all movements - precise. Although it was great, I still think it was quite expensive for Php 4590. We had a similar package in Cambodia, a signature 4-handed massage and it was around Php 2500. The only difference was that there is a beautifully scented bath prepared for us after. Again I don' think that should cost an extra Php 2000 each. I was really looking forward to our stay in Atmosphere because of the reviews. It looked promising when we were able to request for a pick up from another hotel for our check in date, with no hassle. Atmosphere van arrived before time and off we went. The hype didn't stay that long though. Upon arriving the driver pointed us to "walk towards the end for the reception". All good I guess. We can walk. I must say however we were cautious as we were trying to find the straight path to reception because it's not like there is a paved path all the way to the reception and we were walking on apartment grounds already. It felt awkward we were by ourselves, unregistered guests, right there outside the doorsteps of occupied units. Anyway, mid way, another personnel met us to take us halfway to the reception. First impression matters but we decided to brush it off. The next thing that disappointed us were the food choices. Very limited and very expensive for the serving. Their Filipino dishes did not taste anywhere near authentic. It was appalling. Sorry, that's how bad I felt. If you must know, it's the Bistek rice bowl. And I really love to eat! We do a lot of order-ins on our stays but we did not do it here. The dish prepared on our anniversary dinner was superb. I love the seafood platter (Php 1890). We also welcomed the different approach on bicol express (Php 700). The price comparative to serving was still unsatisfactory, especially since we have been going around Dumaguete and we know how fair priced the food and delicacies are. The last item that stained our stay was the AC in our bedroom. For some reason, a timer was set on it and it kept on turning off even when we called their technicians multiple times to have it fixed or reset. For the two nights we stayed, we had to open the living room door to get cold air inside. We had swollen mosquito bites when we left. You may ask then, why stick with 4 stars. Their personnel were professional and courteous. The place was set up for luxury and it has aptitude for it. It just didn't deliver the full package for us when we went there.…
