Hotel's Favorite
We have just had the best time at Sol Arona. All areas lovely and clean, sanitiser everywhere for use. Maids cleaned on a daily basis. Pool also very clean and always sun loungers available, life guard was sanitising loungers when people left ready for new people. Lovely activities in the day for the kids at the pool. My son had a bash of heads which caused a nose bleed, the life guard immediately dealt with it and another lady from hotel came to make sure he was ok and helped with first aid. So professional and caring. Food in restaurant was lovely, brilliant variety for adults and children. Lovely selection of fresh salads, cheeses, meats and breads, along with lovely hot dishes and speciality foods. Bar outside all friendly and helpful, singer every evening. Mini golf also a hit! Reception staff and temperature checks when entering brilliant. Reception also happy to print off covid certs and other paperwork for return home. Thank you Sol Arona. Would definitely recommend.

First night we arrived it took a while to get checked in due to only 1 member of staff working. Rooms were very basic, the top of the headboard on the 2 single beds was hanging off and the beds were thin and hard. If you got in the cramped shower you got out to a pool of water on the floor as the shower curtains didn't stop it and also stuck to you while you were showering. 2 of the lads rooms had loose floor tiles on the floors which wobbled as you stepped on them. My brother for reasons unknown currently fell from the 3rd floor balcony to the 1st. Were both 6ft and the balcony rail was below waist height to us, how they deem it safe is unbelievable yet they advertise this as a family hotel. When questioned about the rail height and how some rooms had high rails they claimed they were for families, yet we had one and some of the higher rooms also have the small rail. It wouldn't surprise me if things like this have happened before hence the effort to start changing the railing height. First aid? Absolutely none offered. The hotel staff opened the door and stood there, allowing me to run in not knowing the condition of my brother, they then stayed stood about until paramedics arrived which was around 20mins. God only forbid if that was a child who fell or became ill and no one on the premises was first aid trained or able to offer assistance. On meeting the jet2 rep Amanda who i couldnt fault at all the staff raised the first issue of one an incident in which one of the lads had apparently been in, although we were all in bed and the hotel had no evidence of. Then proceeded to fine us 400euro with the pay or leave option. First thing mentioned, no sorry about your brother, how is he? Absolutely nothing. Throughout the full holiday the staff showed not one bit of concern and didn't ask or check how he was or even check with us. We approached the reception on Saturday to ask how to obtain a police report for the insurance and were told the police were closed until Monday and they didn't speak English so we'd have to enquire when home. After speaking to the consolute we find out the hotel have actually misadvised us and the police were open weekends and able to provide someone to translate. They also told us it would be massively difficult to obtain a police report when home and we'd have to possible speak to a lawyer in tenerife. We also spoke to an elderly lady on the 4th day who had slipped and broken her leg after exiting the shower (probably due to what I mentioned above) and she said the staff had a 'water on the floor it was your own fault attitude'. The sun terrace they speak about, the walls all around that are no higher than a sun lounger with no rails or barriers, if you look over its a sheer drop to the ground. Again I don't know how they claim this hotel to be family friendly as there's no safety there at all and the steps leading down from there to the pool, some are loose and wobble. I wouldn't return to this hotel if I was offered a free stay and I couldn't stress enough how much I would not take my family there. If anyone with young kids etc reads this, do yourself a favour and find somewhere to stay that's safer. Ideally where the staff can offer some assistance in case of accidents instead of standing at a door and leaving someone who could of been dying for all they knew, laid on the floor. The only good point was the cleaners were good and done their jobs and were friendly even if we were in the room they came in and made beds etc. If I could give this less than 1 star I would.

First of all I would like to say that my standards of a 3 star hotel are not very high but this place is on another level. First of all at check in there was 1 person to deal with around 40 individual guests, whilst the rest of the staff just walked about watching without intervening or offering any assistance. First impressions from the outside weren’t great, this then somehow went even further south upon entering the lobby, the smell was like a nursing home, it stunk of foist and just general uncleanliness. After checking in and going to the room, we discovered No Aircon No free safe No kettle No iron 2 rock hard single beds A sofa that was thick with dust Cracked floor tiles Outdated decor Peeling numbers on the doors and the strong smell of paint as if it handle been poorly touched up prior to arrival A few hours after arrival, one of our taller 6ft6 guest horrifically fell over the balcony of floor 3 and landed on floor 1 causing horrendous injuries. Upon discovery we informed reception to call an ambulance and to open the door of the room he had landed in. They opened the door and stood back, offering no medical assistance and stood in the doorway like a spare part. The ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital where he was treated for 4 broken ribs, a broken shoulder, a bleed on the brain and a cracked spine. All this due to the laughable balcony railing being at the r same height as the top of his legs, the staff couldn’t have cared less and offered no sympathy, empathy or even a “how is he doing” Further to this, we managed to speak to our Jet2 rep over 24h later to find even though they had been in the Hotel the following morning the hotel had NOT EVEN INFORMED THEM! So Jet2 had no idea what had happened. A few hours after getting back from the hospital we discovered the floor was soaking wet upstairs and a fire extinguisher had been let off, the hotel somehow thought that we had done this even though we were 60 miles away in the hospital and threatened to kick us out of the hotel unless €400 euro was paid. (They still hadn’t asked how the injured party was) That aside and I’m trying to stay impartial here, it’s a struggle to actual find a single positive about this hotel, the food was something that would be served to a third world country, the beer was terrible, the only decent thing was the Soft drinks in the full place. However let’s be honest you can’t mess up Coca Cola on draught. To sum up the stay at “Sol arona” I think I would have rather have Corona than visit this place again. Health and safety is clearly not even given a second thought and they are taking no responsibility for how low their balcony’s railings are. This is meant to be a family room, god help any family’s that visit this place It’s an El Dumpo Basically a distance wish from what the online photos portray. It looks nothing remotely close.

I am currently holidaying at this hotel and am totally disgusted with the attitude of the staff. After complaining about guest squirting water at an elderly couple who were minding their own business I told manager and they have done nothing to help these elderly guests. Everyone at the pool were disgusted at these four drunk and incapable girls and to allow them to carry on is a disgrace. I have been here 5times but will not be coming back as this is not what I expect management to allow actions of 4girls to disrupt a poolside full of guest.
