Back to Malapascua after a year, we stay in another resort but we still have our dinner in Hippocampus everyday, the food is definitely the best on the beach. The quality of food is as good as last year we experienced, it's difficult to keep quality and Hippocampus is doing well on it.

Loved it here, nice hotel, rooms are very clean, sweet and very friendly personel. Diveschool at the hotel, so that is perfect! Beautiful beach, so nice to have breakfast here. The Young Hotel manager who listens to his clients and is very friendly and helpfull...great assett for the hotel!

We stayed there for 4 nights and dived with Devocean. The superior room is basic but has pretty much everything you need if you are here to dive. Comes with hot water, a/c, fan, safety box and mini fridge. They changed the towels and made our room everyday. Beach towels are available at the reception. When we first arrived we placed the bathroom floor mat outside our room. After we got back from our first dive in the afternoon, we realized they replaced it with an actual door mat. It's a small gesture but speaks a lot on how they look after the customers. The only cons- they don't provide blanket but instead give an extra bed-sheet to double as blanket :( The bar/restaurant offers excellent foods and drinks. Love love love their pizzas!! Stayed at this hotel from the 1st-3rd Sept and enjoyed our stay here. We arrived at the island at 6am on the 1st Sept and waited at the lobby for the reception to open at 7am. Slept by the beach in front of the lobby in the meantime. When the staff arrived, my partner asked them if we could check in early and rest and they gladly allowed us to enter our room. We were so thankful as we were really tired because we traveled from Cebu city by bus for 3 hours plus (bumpy ride all the way). Up north the roads are bumpier hence try taking the V-hire (van) instead. We had a rest till afternoon and woke up to find lunch and a cheap diving shop. That's where we found a local who recommended Ging- Ging dive shop called Sea Slug Divers. I recommend diving with them as they are a local…

It's just what you need if you come to dive. With a great dive center on it. So you just check in and enjoy your diving! The only thing that I would improve: the Wi-Fi doesn't exist in the rooms. The restaurant is really good and you are in front of the beach!

We just spent 2 Lovely Nights at Hippocampus. We stayed at the beachfront room and it was just lovely! The beach is literally at your door step. I just enjoyed waking up and a few steps away i am already in the water. The Staff at the resort were Great too. Very friendly and efficient. Definitely. I will be staying again and hope to see the dog who kept following me around.

We had the deluxe room with sea view right next to the Devocean dive shop. Room overlooks the beach in front. Very lively atmosphere around the bar area - ideal for a friend group holiday vibe. The bar from the dive shop plays music and sometimes host a live band until around 11pm, and the restaurant has many good food options. Breakfast is nice, too. Rooms up to standard, with mini fridge, a safe lock, wardrobe, and amenities that you would usually need on a short-stay holiday. Beach towels available at reception. Rooms cleaned every day, neat and tidy always. Well done to the staff manager Mayet and her team, we had an enjoyable stay!

Stayed here for 6 nights back in May and had an absolutely amazing time. I came primarily for the diving and would highly recommend the dive shop here, Devocean (reviewed separately). Hippocampus was a perfect place to stay and hang out around all my diving. The owner was really welcoming on arrival and explained everything brilliantly. All the staff are really friendly and helpful and I felt very well looked after during my stay, particularly by the bar and restaurant staff who are really fun. The bar and communal area has a really warm and friendly vibe too. I spent most evenings hanging out down here drinking cold beers and STRONG cocktails, meeting other travellers and having a lot of fun. I visited Malapascua in early July 2017 with 8 work colleagues for our "AGM". My colleagues chose to stay elsewhere on the island but after reading multiple online reviews Hippocampus seemed like an obvious choice to me. It turned out to be 6 days of pure bliss. The management here is first class and they made me feel instantly at home. The staff are all extremely friendly and polite and went out of their way to ensure my stay was as relaxed as could be. I booked the cheapest available room via trip advisor and have absolutely nothing to complain about. I had a lovely ground floor fan room that served me well. We stayed here for a week and had a great experience. Beautiful resort footsteps away from the sandy beach and epic sunset. Very clean accommodations with friendly and welcoming staff. The staff was also very knowledgeable about diving and other activities on Malapascua Island. They organized catamaran excursions, diving and snorkeling trips for us. In my mind, the restaurant had the best food on the island, along with an amazing view overlooking the beach. We usually ended our days at the beach bar which often had live music and always cold beverages! Planning to go back. Would definitely recommend Hippocampus for families, couples and solo travelers.
