Hippocampus is set on wonderful Malapascua Island's Bounty Beach, an alluring strip of fine white sand that is cool even when the temperature is 32 degrees and humid. My room had twin beds with uncomfortable foam mattresses. There was a quirky side table lamp that added to the ambiance. The aircon was reasonable and fairly quiet. The bedroom was rather dark, and had louvre windows on two sides. The staff offered a mosquito net for my bedding but I declined and did not seem to be bitten much. The bathroom was adequate…
We had booked in advance via internet for a period of 6 days in this resort. When we approached the manager on day 4 to shorten our stay by 2 days since our plans had changed, he forced us to either stay the whole period or pay the full price even if we would not use the room. He told us that we should not have booked for 6 days and he would only let customers go without payment if they dont specify a period in advance. In case you ever consider to book here, never book at this resort several days at once. We stayed in a front seaview room which was ok, however, the beach in front of the resort is not very suitable for swimming due to the seagrass close to the beach and the low water level at low tide. Also the sand is mixed with coral pebbles.
