#11 of 16 hotels in Malapascua Island
Malapascua Island is situated two and a half hours away by car and four hours away by bus from the city of Cebu. A barangay of the town of Daanbantayan, Malapascua Island takes pride in its world class diving spots and pristine white sand beaches. It is widely referred by locals as the "Boracay of Cebu." As a diving destination, Malapascua Island has become known for its beautiful coral gardens and excellent local dive spots, as well as further out sites like Gato Island, Monad Shoal, and Kemod Shoal. Monad Shoal is an underwater plateau where thresher sharks and manta rays can be seen on a regular basis. The town's name is derived from two Spanish words, "mal" and "pascua", which translated in English means, "bad" and "Easter" or bad Christmas. According to locals, the Spaniards named the island that way after they arrived there on a stormy Christmas. Malapascua Island is a promise of a great dive and a relaxing beach experience, making it a popular travel destination for local and foreign tourists alike.

I love how they price is not so expensively with really great set of menu in their restaurant. We always stay here and tried their bungalow and really good airconditiong with the hear in the philippines. When we stayed in the presidential suite, the airconditioning is not as cool as from the bungalow rooms by the pool. Nice pool with a pool bar. The presidential suite has a good view on its terrace facing the bounty beach. Room is big and clean. The toilet im not so sure though, its just old i guess. And found the toilet for a little small for a presidential suite.

This is by far the worst & one of the most expensive hotels on the island. The hotel and rooms have none of the services they claim to, i paid for a “superior room” and got put in the standard room, this would not have been an inconvenience, but I was not told that I was paying a higher price, it took over 2 hrs combined for me to check in and out, even though I dropped by hrs before check in to leave my stuff, agree with other reviewers staff was lazy, I was over charged on EVERYTHING presumably assuming I would check, etc. In short, this island is a lovely place with plenty of good hotels, just stay away from this one!

Staffs are very lazy. Watches TV & are in their phones the whole time. No sense of hotel service. Our room was very warm and AC was broken. The place is very dirty and it feels dirty. There was a huge cockroach in the bathroom. Pillows are very flat and lack cotton. Towels are dark & dirty. Most of the equipments in the room are not working. Never again.

room is big. swimming pool is big. filipino food is good. a very basic room. u get a thin sheet of cloth for blanket. shower can be tricky as the hot water is unpredictable. there is nothing on tv except repeated cable tv commercials. breakfast is oily sausages and ham. DO NOT try the “shabu shabu” at the restaurant. we waited 1.5hrs for it, and had to wait another 45min for the broth to be properly heated. broth turned out to tasteless and beef slices came with 1.5 inches of fat. the lady at the reception (also the bar singer) was very unfriendly and practically threw the bill on the desk when we were checking out. i’m very sure we did not give her any trouble during the stay.

We've been lucky. We went with my girlfriend to Malapascua for 1 day trip, but the bus from Cebu city was toooo slow - instead of 3hrs drive it took 5,5hrs. We had passports, and everything in Cebu city, only we had was some money. So we decided to stay 1 night at this beautiful island. We were lucky, this hotel was absolutely at the beach, clean and nice. Also good food in the restaurant! :)

Traveled here with family to enjoy the water.... The rooms are spacious, clean and well attended to... the spa was out of service and could have used some upkeep. Loved the dining area and that served as our central place for almost all of our meals while there for 4 days.
