The place is not a resort you will expect, compared to Boracay. I guess this is the best room in the island. The island itself needs rehabilitation as we saw some plastic bottle floating in the beach. The massage tho is highly recommended but you need to walk for 5-8 mins to get to the sister property, where the massage is offered. It is not in the resort itself, as they have advertised in the website. Food price is a bit high tho, compared to other places, yet you see no difference. Also, verify your food charges upon check-out, as I was charged twice for the lunch we had. Luckily, the reception accepted my dispute, as it was clearly same items. If I am to choose, one stay is enough. We don't have any reason to come back. Yet the stay was okay. We stayed 3 nights. Which, I could have spent more in other island in the Philippines.…

Probably the best property in town. Rooms are clean and spacious. Food is good. Staff is good. Location wise - 10 mins walk from the pier. In the evening, the bar and lounge area is very popular. Would definitely recommend it (price is bit higher in comparison to other properties but I think worth it.) They practice environment sustainable practices. No single use plastic water bottles, they provide refill. Con: Only refill at a nominal price (very nominal price) but it is drinking water, it should be provided free of charge. Period. hence the 4 stars.

Dined at the restaurant on 11/05/2023. The ambience and decoration is great and minimalist, clean and neat. A lot of flies though. Food was ok, not the best in the island. It is too salty and not very authentic cuisine. We ordered the cheeseburger, chicken adobo and a seafood pizza. This is the only place in the island that charges VAT for their food. And to top it off, ilyn their waitress that served us, was rude, impatient and sacarstic. Totally won’t recommend this restaurant.

Hello Chester, Thank you for coming to Ocean Vida Restaurant. We are glad to know that you liked the ambiance and decoration. Regarding your concerns, we would like to clarify: Flies: yes, at this time of the year we have flies around. We try to avoid the problem placing stick paper in hidden places or putting some Eucalyptus essential oil on top of the counters (they don’t like the smell). Of course, we keep our cleaning standards on a high level to minimize the presence of flies. Food: Our guests are usually happy with our food, so we are sorry you didn’t enjoy your meal. For the record, our wait staff approached your table to check if you were happy with the food, and no comments or complaints were addressed, dishes were removed from your table completely empty; otherwise, we would be happy to fix the situation on the spot ;) VAT: our business complies with the law. In the Philippines, you need to operate your restaurant with a POS system registered on the BIR, and then we issue an official receipt where the taxes are shown as a breakdown of the price. It doesn’t mean that we add taxes on top of the prices shown on our menu, you pay the price you see on the menu, and you just get an official receipt showing the percentage of the declared taxes. Regarding your comments about Ilyn, we don’t think is fair to say such comments about one of our hardworking staff without any base. This can hurt our employees, especially where there is no reason or fact supporting your comments, simply, you don’t give us room for further explanation. We are willing to hear and address any based complaint. We value all our guests and are thankful that you chose Ocean Vida Restaurant for your lunch. Best regards from Ocean Vida Team.

We stayed for a quick 3 night trip for my wife's birthday. Here's one of the ew downsides: It takes a bit to get to Malapascua. But the hotel aragnes everything for you. Smooth experience. The driver picked us up right at the airport, dirve to the port, 30min boat to the resort. The most friendly reception staff immediatley ushered us to a wiating area for a welcome drink. Room was available right away. You are literally on the beach. We had one of the new rooms in the garden section. I prefer this as you are away from the little noise around dinner time by the beach. The room was brand new. Good bed, good aircon, everything fine. Full marks for the room this far out in the province. Food. Ok. That's about the verdict. Price is great value for money. And: The spa! One of the best massages I had for something like 25% you'd pay at a Shang spa. Highly recommended. If you're looking to diving in Malapascua stay here. If the food would be cranked up a little it be perfenct. But don't get me wrong. It's good. Just talking about the difference betmeen ok and great. …

Last year we were among the first tourists to arrive in Malapascua after the pandemic. We had a absolutely wonderful experience and booked to come back one year later. We were concerned that now it was fully open to tourists Malapascua would not be the same nor ocean Vida. How wrong were we.. Ocean Vida have spent the past off season making improvements and they show. The WiFi is now excellent fast and reliable. The rooms are clean and freshly decorated. The staff is expanded but are all wonderful, helpful and at all times smiling. The facilities bar and restaurant are first rate and having two happy hours daily is wonderful. At ocean Vida every single staff member knew all customers by their name which gives a truly personal service. There is a wonderful dive center attached to the hotel which I will review separately. Finally special thanks to the Management team of Belain and Fabienne you went out of your way to make our stay fabulous and we thank you.…

Sits right on the beautiful beach. Well worth the trip to dive with the beautiful thresher sharks. Great dive service and rooms were nice. Restaurant on site overlooking beach and ocean with great food.

We had an ocean facing room on the main floor. The view was exceptional. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Even though there were beach activities well into the night, we heard very little noise in the room when we drew the curtains. The island inhabitants were very friendly and kind. We felt safe and welcomed the entire time we were there. a 2 to 3 day stay at this resort is about all you need to enjoy the diving with the Thresher sharks.

Room - comfortable and cleaned everyday; this pulled my rating from 2 to 3 Service - Customer service needs a lot of improvement. We ordered sandwiches for breakfast (for our early morning dive) but they were not delivered to our room so I ended up diving the next day (full day diving) with an empty stomach. Luckily, the boat of Atlas Diving had some bread and banana. When I came back I asked what happened and the lady at the bar did not give an explanation. So the other staff, probably a manager, offered a free sandwich instead that evening. I had some clothes sent for laundry. Because they kicked me out of the room after 12 and was in a hurry to catch the ferry, I only got to check when I arrived in Cebu City. I lost 1 shirt! Obviously they do not record what they received and do not countercheck if they received everything. Check out - I went diving and the night before I asked the staff if I could wxtend because I might only be back at around 1pm. I was willing to pay extra. The next day when I came back all my staff were in the reception! Straight from the sea I had to take the ferry without taking a shower. Staff said I could use the outdoor shower for rinsing! If they will kickout guests they should at least have a decent shower room for use! And to be kicked out just like that is another story! No apologies from staff and all they can say was that itnis their policy.. their policy to kick out guests?! The owner (not sure if she is the owner, a foreigner) only greets my friend when we meet her. Probably because my friend was the one who booked?! We both paid for our stay. She ignored me several times. Food - Food was ok, not a lot of options for breakfast. This place is overpriced for the service received. For that price I expect more professionalism.…

Dear Joseca, We are sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your stay at Ocean Vida. We have investigated what happened during your stay and this is what we can tell: **Customer service: it is true that your free pack breakfast wasn’t delivered on time, it was a mistake from the person in charge; but it is also true that when our GRO found out what happened, she offered you a free sandwich for dinner. We felt you were happy with the proposed solution, as you thank our staff for that. **Laundry: we have checked the laundry area, and our in-house guest’s laundry and all the laundry was delivered to our guests. Usually, when our guests leave any belongings behind, we contact them and send it to them. This wasn’t the case. **Check-out: we have verified with our reception staff, and yes, you asked the night before for the possibility of having a late check-out or at least a shower since you would be arriving late from your diving. You were properly informed that late check-out is possible unless we have an arrival on that day, you were also properly informed that we would be fully booked the day of your departure, and you were asked to pack your things in case you would arrive late from your dive. You arrived at 1 pm from your diving, and your packed luggage was taken care of in the reception area, as the incoming guest were already at the resort, and we were in the need of preparing the room for them. It is stated in our policies, as well as in the House Rules we have in the rooms or the check-in form, that the check-out time is 12 noon. We would be happy to allow you to take a shower if we would have an available room, but it wasn’t the case. **Greetings: we greet all our guests the same, we are happy every time we have guests at our resort. The manager went to talk to you when you arrived, earlier than the check-in time and ensured that you were comfortable in the hang-out area, and offered you beach towels in case you wanted to spend some time at the beach before the check-in time. We apologize if the experience at Ocean Vida was not as expected, and we hope you come back and enjoy our resort to the fullest. Best regards from Ocean Vida Team.

Very well run dive resort. Rooms were clean, personnel friendly and attentive to any requests being made. I have not stayed at other resorts on this small island; but, it appeared as nice or better than others I saw. Sea Explorers, the dive operation associated with the resort, is on site and also very well run operation, helpful to everyone's questions and needs. Thresher sharks are seen on sites here and we had some dives they were observed. Our divemasters were very good and mine was Marissa, who I felt did an excellent job of locating and pointing out many species of marine microlife which I would not have seen on my own. In my opinion this dive operation had the nicest dive boats on the island.
