Close your eyes and imagine the ocean, blue, clear and uncontaminated, then think of a white beach where you can relax during the day and from which to observe a sky so rich in warm shades at sunset to leave you speechless … now open your eyes and come to experience this and more at the Tepanee Beach Resort. Malapascua is the beautiful little island of the Philippines that hosts Tepanee: an intimate and welcoming resort where you will have the opportunity to spend an unforgettable holiday of relaxation and diving, enriched by a tasty food and wine proposal, suitable for a varied international clientele. Link together the idea of your holiday with a truly unique welcome, staying in cottages overlooking the ocean.Rooms and cottages, built in perfect harmony between functionality and respect for the environment, overlooking the Pacific Ocean or on lush gardens adorned with frangipani, the fragrant flower that gave our name to this corner of paradise. It's holiday time: we wait for you! Malapascua is the beautiful small island of the Philippines hosting Tepanee: an intimate and friendly resort that will give you an unforgettable holiday. Tepanee stands on a small hill that rises up from Logon beach and our territory goes down to our own private sandy beach, an area isolated from the rest of the island from where it’s possible to admire breathtaking sunsets in an area secluded from the rest of the island and where we placed beach umbrellas, sunbeds, a gazebo for massages and our lovely Chiringuito beach bar. In addition, in the hill adjacent to the reception is our panoramic Amihan restaurant. The name TEPANEE comes from the name of the Polynesian frangipani plant, a tropical tree that graces our gardens with fragrant flowers of various colors. Historically, the concept for our resort followed a philosophy of low environment impact. Most of the building materials are natural and local: wood, bamboo and stones used for the main structures, roofs made of a typical straw named kogon. The buildings are almost invisible from the ocean, even if many are built right on the seaside. Opened on December 8, 2008, Tepanee in the beginning was consisted of 6 independent double cottages and one building of two storeyes with 4 triple rooms. We have grown, and can now offer you: Deluxe cottages: independent buildings with a superb ocean view, the best in Malapascua Island, facing the sundown. They feature: aircon, ceiling fan, en-suite bathroom, hot shower, minibar, safety box, balcony with sofa, queen size double bed with option for one or two extra single beds, bamboo and wooden furniture, wooden floor, entrance door and windows with mosquito screen and blackout curtains, free wifi, daily cleaning service. These cottages can accommodate up to four people. Superior cottages: independent buildings with aircon, ceiling fan, en-suite bathroom, hot shower, minibar, safety box, balcony with sofa, queen size double bed with option for one extra single bed, bamboo and wooden furniture, wood floor, windows with mosquito screen and blackout curtains, free wifi, daily cleaning service. Some cottages can accommodate an extra single bed for a fourth person. Some cottages have the ocean view, some have a partial ocean view, some have the garden view. Standard rooms: together in two different buildings of two storeys. All the rooms have a double queen sized bed and a single bed, a have private entrance, aircon, ceiling fan, en-suite bathroom, hot shower, minibar, safety box, balcony with sofa, bamboo and wooden furniture, wooden floor, windows with mosquito screen and blackout curtains, free wifi, daily cleaning service. Some rooms can accommodate an extra single bed for a fourth person. The Standard rooms have partial ocean view or garden view. Evoking an island feel, the resort boast of cozy and excellently constructed rooms that also utilizes natural materials such as bamboo among others. The rooms are decorated with colourful walls and unique bamboo beds, offering both air-conditioning and a ceiling fan with a year round availability of fresh ocean breeze that can be enjoyed from our spacious balconies. It is also furnished with a mini bar, a safe for your valuables and wifi connectivity throughout the property. One thing you won't find in our rooms though, is the television as we feel that this distract guests from all the natural beauty this island has to offer. We provide for the wifi in all the resort. Please, note that we are in a remote island and the service sometime may be slow or discontinuous. Since December 2012, you can eat and drink right next to our private beach, at the Chiringuito beach bar, where we serve breakfast and lunch, snacks, drinks and natural fruit juices, cocktails, with soft music in the background. In May 2013, we opened our new Amihan restaurant, in a panoramic position on the hill at the new entrance of Tepanee. We are serving the amazing Italian cuisine that Amihan had already become renowned for: pizza, vegetables, fish and grilled meats, pasta and pastries, tropical fruit, wine and much more. Tepanee Beach Resort is located in a non-flat area: from the reception to the rooms and the beach on the back there are stairs to go up and down. The steps are wide and low, but they do exist: please be aware of this when choosing our hotel for your stay. We do not provide hair-dryers and television. We provide beach towels upon request and with payment of the laundry service. We accept credit cards payments: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB (bank transaction charges apply). We also accept cash payments in Pesos, Euros and US Dollars. Check-in is possible from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Check-out must be completed by 12:00 noon. Reception is open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. During your stay you will have direct assistance with everything concerning scuba dives and diving courses, which can be easily booked through us. Please contact our reception for all the informations and to book the dives. Tepanee organizes transfers from and to Cebu City/Airport/Pier at any time by private van and boat: our boats arrive and depart from our private beach, located inside the Tepanee Beach Resort area. There are 144 kms of paved road from Cebu City to Maya, the port where to take the boat for Malapascua; then there are 8 kms by sea from Maya to Tepanee Beach Resort. The road ride takes about 3 hours, while the boat ride only 30 minutes. About pick up transfers, please note that the last boat departure allowed by the Government from Maya to Malapascua is 6:00PM, so consider to overnight in Cebu City if the flight is landing after 2:00PM. About back transfers, the earliest departure from Malapascua is 6:00AM and we have to schedule the departure from Malapascua at least 7 hours in advance if the for an international flight and 6 hours in advance for a domestic flight. Depending on the schedule of the flight, please consider to overnight in Cebu City the night before the flight: for example, if the flight is an international departure at 12:45, it's necessary to leave Malapascua at 5:00AM but this is not allowed by the Government, so it will be needed to leave Malapascua the day before (or choose a later flight, of course). Just contact our reception, please, for all the informations and to book the transfer. Our staff are delighted to respond to your requests, and we are certain that you will have all you need for relaxing and memorable holiday.

We loved this hotel as the location is beautiful with a fantastic view over the blue sea and the clear water. The little beach is protected which means, you can only go to sea for snorcheling which is fantastic as this hotel makes a big contribution to keep the seaworld as much protected as possible. Who does not like this or wants a place to swim and play in the water should choose another ressort. The rooms are beautiful and the food in both restaurants are delicious with a fantastic Italian focus. The manager Andrea is always there and you can see that he is putting all his effort in this wonderful resort. We had two dinners at the restaurant and really had excellent dishes. We will come back!

The hotel has a private beach for customers only, it’s the best beach on the island as it has black tip sharks basically everywhere! It’s shallow and has lots of sea life and coral, it is protected so you can not stand on the coral and there is a limit to how many people can go into the water at one time which we loved as you can really see they are protecting the sea. The hotel is also amazing and ensuring single use plastic isn’t used to also protect the sea. Room with a beautiful view, warm shower and amazing location. Would highly highly recommend. The food and drinks were lovely, we used the tab system so paid at the end which was nice not having to have cash with us all day. The sun loungers are of high quality too which make for a lovely sleep. The hotel arranged for a women to come and give me a massage in their spa room which was nice as she went outside to cut fresh alo Vera to use on my sun burnt back. Great place. Best on the island.

The bungalows are well equiped, clean and located on a beautiful spot. The service is excellent, great attention from the staff. However the breakfast is incredibly minimalist for the size and pricing of the resort. And, red flag, I have been charged almost one euro (50 pesos) for each page I had printed from the reception. Inacceptable when you pay, in the Philippines, more than 100 Euros for your bungalow. To the owners, you want to make money from your beautiful and well managed hotel, great!! Bud don 't be to obvious!!

My wife and I had 5 nights here during January with one of the bungalows overlooking the sea. Some positives and negatives regarding our stay experience; Positives: - Great view - Reception staff friendly & helpful - Room was clean and a good size for a couple - Private beach / good snorkelling Negatives: - The onsite restaurant (Amihan) was expensive, we had the grilled fish and a tuna steak which we didn’t think had much flavour or was particularly fresh. We didn’t go back. Other cheaper, restaurants on the island seemed to have better quality food, much more seasoning and better ingredients overall. - The bamboo bed was very creaky, any movement resulted in a loud noise. Our door didn’t close properly either. - The breakfast service was poor (again compared to nearby competition). Overall the island of Malapascua was great (including. Of the course the diving), unfortunately we expected a bit more from Tepanee based on other online reviews we had seen and their pricing which seemed to indicate they were at the higher end of the local market.

Loved Malapascua. Encourage everyone visiting to go for a long walk around the island...not coup up in resort. People are wonderful and so many hidden gems. Staff friendly here and helpful. Enjoyed likely the best suite. Food good...focus on Italian here....so pizza very good. No dive centre so you have to walk to dive centre which is 500m or so. TSD...Thresher Shark Divers so you can map it.

Thank you very much for you feedback. We also work very much with two diveshops offering to pick up and drop off the divers directly in our private beach, so no need to walk more than 10 meters from the hotel, which is very comfortable expecially with the early morning dives. This is a big advantage for our guests also considering that we don't have noisy diveshops in-house (no compressors, no banging tanks, ...). We hope you will come again soon.

I cannot say enough about my stay here. Definitely worth the money. The rooms are amazing, the food delicious, try the kinilau!!!. The atmosphere so friendly, like being in someone's beautiful home. The beach is well kept and you can snorkel with small black finned sharks! The owners are incredible humans ❤️. They do so much for the environment, people and animals on this island. They were really helpful when I got a bad ear infection. I'll definitely be back. Thank you so much for an amazing stay 🙏 Really this place is a gem.

The best thing about the place is the people. The service (facilities, manpower, breakfast) was all great and but the people made our stay really worth remembering. Andrea and Silvia were really welcoming. :) AnaMae and Daryl were also really friendly and helpful. They made our stay convenient (who wouldn’t want that?) and they had the best smiles i’ve seen on service staff. :) The rooms were spacious and clean. The wifi was strong as well. And, their watermelon shake didn’t have crushed seeds in them. Also, saw a lot of black tip sharks in their conservation bay. :) i applaud their conservation efforts.

First, I have been to almost 70 countries, ranging from the best in Europe to war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq. I have been to the Philippines multiple times and have dived all over the world more than 700 times. I did my homework and only chose Tepanee because an acquaintance recommended it. I read all the reviews online; sadly, most proved accurate. I kept an open mind and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, it was a mistake. Here are some of the events (some incredibly petty) that lead me to feel this way: - They DEMANDED full, upfront payment when I started enquiring. According to a few other divers we met, this is different for the island. - They messaged me on WhatsApp multiple times demanding credit card details. I had to give it to them manually, risking my credit card security. - Because of massive delays on our flight, we missed the port closure deadline. They then informed us we would stay at an extremely basic hotel at the port. The “hotel” did not know about us when we arrived, and we could’ve risked it being full. The hotel knew we were going to miss the port deadline and couldn’t even call ahead to the hotel to check availability. We had no roaming; there was no way we could’ve read the messages they sent telling us to book the hotel ourselves. - They also did not bother to pay the port fees. It was such an insignificant amount. After spending more than USD100 for the transfer, you’d expect them to pay a few pesos as the port to make the experience smoother. Mainly because the port staff “apparently” didn’t have change. - You get a full briefing on all the don’ts when you arrive. Including you will be issued only ONE SINGLE beach towel for the duration of your stay. I was booked for ten days. - Despite the empty resort, they decided to check in guests on top of our room. The rooms are super noisy. Every step upstairs could be heard. We had 4 am wake-ups every morning for diving, and the upstairs guest was super loud, deep into the night, until 1 am on most nights. Could they not space us out a little more? - Breakfast was a very unpleasant experience. We had a buffet-style breakfast on mornings when there were “sufficient” guests. The food was low quality, and the amounts were minimal. When asking for more fruit, the staff would simply say no. They don’t have more. On mornings with insufficient guests, they give you a set menu. Again, tiny serving sizes, limited options and NO flexibility. After asking for fruit this morning, they replied, “We don’t have any”. - Most of the time, the staff refuse requests, not even wanting to find a solution. Just simply no. When questioned why there isn’t enough food, for example, the answer is always, “Because we don’t have guests”, while looking at me, a guest. - They said they didn’t have it when asking them for another local business’s (a well-known local spa) WhatsApp details. After asking them, if they could call them, they decided to take an hour just to give me the spa’s phone number off their website; something I could’ve done). They did not want to pick up the phone and call the spa. - Dinner could be better. When I asked last night if they could drop it off at my room (roughly 50m away), the staff told me, you guessed it, no. - The shower was never hot, but I didn’t even tell them. This is not it, but I have limits on how much energy I’m willing to put into this resort. I’m sure you, as the reader, get the point. And I hope the resort owners see this and understand that their staff needs urgent hospitality training.

Stayed at Tepanee for a week. Had an absolutely wonderful time. One of the reasons for selecting Tepanee was their private cove.. It was a good place for snorkelling, though there were strong currents during high tide. Saw barracudas, Octopus, and some schools of fish. The rooms on top of the hill were excellent, nad had really great views of the sea. The room was extremely comfortable and spacious, along with a large balcony. The bed and pillows were tempting to stay in bed, and skip the early morning scuba sessions. Water was provided, and the staff would happily re-fill the jug of water, thus reducing the need to use plastic bottled water. The breakfast was really good, eggs made to order, choice of ham / bacon. Had a couple of lunch / dinner at their restaurant. Their Pizza was good, some of the local Philippino dishes were also quite good. My only issue with the room was the safe. While it was digital, the keypad was disabled, and one had to use the key provided. The key was within the keyring for the room, and accessing the safe meant removing the key from the slot, and the electricity turning off. The staff was excellent, and always ready to help out on anything that was required.
