We stayed at the Exotic with the hope of seeing Thresher sharks. Every time we visited Kimud shoal we saw upto 10-15 sharks. This was due to the highly experienced dive guide Paul and his team. His knowledge of how to interact with the sharks was exceptional.
The exotic resort is nice and staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was fine but pretty basic for the amount paid, there was an additional charge to have water in the room. The food was really good and they also had their own pizza oven which was great! Dive centre resort was super nice, they were very helpful and ran dives in very small groups. The thresher shark dives are amazing but are pretty far from the island. Finally the beach… there was rubbish all over the beach including plastic, bottles, can and glass. The locals and the staff didn’t seem bothered about the rubbish at all and it meant that not many people were leaving the hotel to visit the local village. If they cleaned up the island it could be great for diving tourist but at the moment I wouldn’t be in a rush to go back.…
Arrived at the tourist Centre to book a seat on the boat to the island..there is a charge just yo enter the area..100 pesos for Filipinos..500 pesos if you are white...this is separate from the boat ticket and no explanation about this charge. The boat fare was also much more for a white person than for a Filipino..absolute discrimination..finally arrived at Malapascua Island to find the beach strewn with rubbish ..and I picked up numerous handfuls of broken glass from the sand as I was walking..I entered a toilet near the beach front and refused to enter.it was absolutely filthy...ended up peeing in the sea..I was told the island was beautiful 10 yeas ago..but it has certainly a health hazard now.
Excellent hotel right on the beach. Extensive menu selection with a good bar. The dive team really looked after us and there was some excellent diving. Great rooms clean and changed daily. The staff are super friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. I would definitely stay here again
Visited this resort many times. Feels like coming home. Room is perfect (Beach Front Room). Always clean and good service. The staff is so kind and friendly. The best dive master an extra demanding diver like myself can ask for. The owners will help you to the best! I hope to come back soon!
Unfortunately, we couldn’t reach the resort as all ferries were canceled due to the unexpected typhoon. Very disappointing that the resort didn’t agree on at least a partial refund, knowing we won’t be able to enter the island. So we ended up paying for all four nights plus four more nights at a new resort where we got stuck.
Simply put the place to go that has the balance right from affordability to value. Food is beautiful, staff friendly, diving team amazing. Accomdation spot on. Highly recomend for families and dog friendly. The island is a great place and im sure other resorts are amazing as well.
The hotel is nice. But the food! Serving takes a long time but it is worth waiting for: excellently prepared, arranged, seasoned and served. The chef/cook has worked in Singapore at Clarke Quay area where good food is highly appreciated and only the best make it there. Exotic is blessed to have him here. We stayed for 11 days and tried the entire menu card. Not one disappointment! Our room was also excellent, paid extra for S01, the bridal suite w balcony facing beach front and wrapping around the corner. Money well spent.
Around the island you can only find trash on the beaches and in the sea. A dive around will allow you to see dead coral and very few fish. It is the most desolate sight I've ever experienced. I guess the overfishing or years of tourism without caring for the environment killed everything!?!
Decided to go to Malapascua as a side trip to get certified for Advanced Open Water Diver and it’s one of the best decisions that I’ve made so far. If you have problems with your buoyancy, I strongly suggest you take the course with Chris Dickerson. Chris is an excellent dive instructor who will make you kiss weights underwater just to improve your buoyancy. Grumpy at times, his strictness and discipline will challenge you to do better and improve your skills. I have mini panic attacks just before descending but he is patient enough to let me take my time and assure me that it will be fine. The skills that I learned from him made me confident enough to jump to Technical diving. Aside from the excellent PADI courses, Exotic also has very good rooms that are well maintained. I’m a messy person but my room is always clean whenever I get back from training. Thanks to Manong Toti who tidies it up even without me asking. Food is superb. They have the best pizza and pasta in the island care of Chef Marco. And the girls (Jackie, Nica, Nisa and Roxane) will make sure you never get late for Happy Hour lol. If you’re going to Malapascua, stay in Exotic. You won’t regret it.…
