Only got one night here but we loved it.We had a room with a little balcony to the back of the property facing the hills...I wish though I had paid a little extra and had the supreme spot overlooking the surf and surfers of this beach..there are balcony’s facing the sea....try and get one of these...you won’t be disappointed. Staff are great,we had a fridge, and jug ....nice soft chairs for tv watching , great Wifi and a safe.highly recommend!!!...just letting you know though...aircon was very noisy!

I booked a family suite when I was still in Dubai to secure a room for my family when I get home. The booking thru Agoda was convenient and payment was fair. Their Queen room is big enough for 5-6 people with 2 queen beds, and 1 sofa bed in the living area. It is situated near the sea which makes the whole thing extra nicer. Basic appliances were available to use and were all functional. Bathroom is spacious enough but shower wasn’t working that day (we were informed that the water shortage was La Union-wide) but tap was okay though. Towels and linens were all clean and dry, coffee and water were provided, the resident restaurant served meals and there are a lot of nearby food hubs to choose from at night. Pros: Along the highway Spacious room Walking distance to the sea Near surfing area With resident restaurant Safe environment Cons: Rooms upstairs are not PWD accessible Possible water shortage (shower) No water pail provided

We checked in at this hotel yesterday and was surprised and blessed that the owner told us that because it is the second time for us to book there and because they are flexible (not fully booked) at that time, we can upgrade and opt to get the room with balcony free of charge. Of course we did opted for it, it is free after all. Staff, service and facilities are all superb. Nice to know that this hotel keep record of all their guests, we are there early last year. It is more than worth of what we paid for. We will definitely be back.

The room the was assigned to me was Room 3 located at the ground floor. Location: along the highway; beachfront Room: room was kinda outdated, most of my stay, tv was not functioning well (no signal). Also, i had a hard time opening the door, door keys wont fit well, i had to ask for help from the hotel crew. Linens and pillows though were clean. Food: i ordered their Longsilog, id say it tasted decent Crew: nice but they have to be very visible and attentive to their guest. When i woke up the following morning, there was no crew available. I was suppose to order breakfast.

The room we had needs a major upgrade and a lot of cleaning too. Our stay was awesome though because very near Surfmaid are an abundance of Bars and Restaurants. This is the only reason why we booked this hotel. The horel has a lot of history and potential though.

The place is as simple as it gets. That's all you need anyway if you'll be spending most of your time on the beach or outside. The area in comparison to boracay would be like station 3, the quiet side of town with cute acoustic set up at night by the beach. They have their own resto bar which is okay and the place is walking distance to every other spots to eat at in san juan. The rooms could get a face lift, specially the bathrooms but it is not something that you could not live with. Over-all average

All of the hostels and resorts were fully booked for our date except this resort so we grabbed this one. We did not have high expectations since we only wanted to have a room to sleep and put our things with but somehow we were thankful that we checked in here. Reservation was easy and they are very responsive to my queries. They gave us the room with the ocean view and that was one of the best selling point of this resort. Towels and soap were provided. The building is a bit old but the rooms are maintained though wear and tear are evident especially on the CR, the doorknob was broken. AC was functioning well. Linens were comfortable and we had a good sleep. The room was big enough for us, we were 6, we paid for extra mattresses. The beach just outside is not conducive to swimming due to big stones underneath. But it was also a good point since we feel like we were the only ones in that area so more good pictures! Swimming area is just a few meters away though. We didn't got the chance to try their resto but it was also a good thing that they have resting tables and chairs with umbrellas just outside near the beach. The room does not offer a complimentary breakfast though but we feel it was priced just fine.

Thank you for your wonderful review. We are looking into fixing some interior malfunctions. If you happen to return to us in the future, we are doing a 10% off the rate for returning guests. This is if you tell the booking person to find your name in our database. However this does not apply to holidays, and special occasions. The 10%off saving you can use in the restaurant for breakfast :)

It was a last minute decision to go to san juan since we were already in La Union. Most of the hotels were all fully booked so while surfing the net, i stumbled on this one. Called the hotel, there was an availability, boom! it was reserved. The following day we drove to san juan and checked in. They have a good parking area. Shaded by trees. The building from the outside looked okay. However, inside is a little outdated. (Loved the wooden doors of the rooms). We got an ensuite upstairs. Inside was a ? queen bed. Comfortable foam and pillows. The airconditioner was well functioning. There was a safe which was great however the electronic isnt working so you’ll need a key to access it which they have provided. There was a small table and two comfy chairs. The shower room isn’t the biggest but i’ve seen worst. This one is livable. The shower pressure was okay. The water coming out from the tap and shower was salty. They have provided towels and foot rug. The room and shower room were both clean. There was a small balcony but the view is horrible. Roofs of your neighboring resort. It was awful so we’ve kept the curtains drawn. The general look of the bedroom was really outdated but its livable unless You’re there to stare at the place. We have paid 3000 php per night. We thought its quite expensive for what it has to offer but hey.. its last minute booking so cant really complain, right? There’s a bar downstairs that serves food and drinks at certain times. Also, the scene at night time by the beach was relaxing. There were mats and tables set up if you feel like hanging out. Also, there’s a small kiosk of a bar where you can buy your drinks from. The people/staff were very pleasant and helpful. So massive thanks!

We are very glad you accidentally bumped into us. Basic is actually a very good description of what we are, at the moment. We do plan on doing some renovations sequentially till the end of the year. We do not pretend to be the best hotel in Urbiztondo (#surftownsanjuan), of which that honor goes to Kahuna Beach Resort. However, we are most certainly not the worst. We cater to a particular crowd, of which those are more avid surfers. You may have noticed we are on the coral entry side of the beach, and when the swell arrives, it creates waves for more experienced surfers. That is the reason why surf instructors are just a little walk down the beach, on the sand entry side. Yes... The rooms are not to stare at, as it is designed to be easier to manage with all the sea water, and sand that comes in. It is most certainly livable, but most of our customers do their living outside the room. We discourage openly people that want to book with us who are business travelers. We hope you give #surftownlaunion, another visit. We would recommend you book early as well. Since the closure of Boracay it is nearly impossible to get a room on a Saturday, or any holiday. We would also recommend Kahuna Beach Resort, or Awesome Hotel, which is a little further down the road, but they also offer beach-side high quality accommodations. And yes, we do have the best doors :) Thank you for staying with Little Surfmaid, and your very accurate review. Rg, Management.

It was a decent place to stay that is near the beachfront. Accommodation does not include breakfast and checkin time is at 3pm. The room was clean and also the bathroom. However, the place needs improvement. Since it was a labor day weekend, there was an event and the loud music can be heard in the room. Past midnight there was a guy knocking in our room thinking it was their friends room, which was annoying. We werent able to inform the receptionist since we are about to checkout the following day.

Thank you for staying with us. Thanks to reviews such as yours we have been made aware about what to improve. We apologize for the interruption of your sleep by some of our other guests. The noise however is, even though loud, is what is advertised and expected at "Labour Union" weekend. This is held every year. In fact we are right in the area where surfers, and party goers tend to gather. San Juan is a wonderful place to come to for a beach experience. If you do return, we would recommend Awesome Hotel, as a place to stay. It is on the quieter side of the beach, a little north of San Juan. And they are a 5 star hotel. Thank you again for your review. It is important for us to know where we can improve.

What we like: - Good location! If you like to surf, this is the best place to stay. Rooms are big and affordable. - Front desk staff are nice! We arrived very early in the morning and asked if we could just lounge in their restaurant area, fronting the beach. They readily allowed us and even allowed us to leave our bags while we toured nearby places. - No breakfast but you can order food from their restaurant or go to neighboring restaurants along the surf area. What we don't like: - Hot shower takes time to heat up. - Toilets in the restaurant area are dirty.

Thank you for your review. Yes... Indeed the showers do take time to heat up, because the water circulates from the water heater in the roof of the hotel. This problem will persist for a while yet... But we are exploring putting in individual water heaters in the rooms. Yes... I did check the toilets in the restaurant area after your review. And you are right. The restaurant and bar are leased to Blue Surfers Lounge, but I have voiced your complaint to them. I will monitor their progress. Thank you for staying with us, and we hope to see you again :)
