Aqua Natura Bay earns rave reviews for its immaculate cleanliness and comprehensive amenities, including a rooftop pool and spa, which guests have called out as highlights. While some visitors have commented on the air conditioning and room size, the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms are generally celebrated.
The hotel's serene location by natural pools with stunning sea views is popular among guests, though the on-site restaurant's prices lead many to dine elsewhere. The staff's friendly and attentive service adds to the relaxing, spa-like atmosphere that defines the hotel's elegant charm.

An amazing hotel in an idyllic location.
On arrival we were offered a glass of wine and in the room we were treated to a bottle of moscato.there were chocolates layed on the bed every day and a nespresso coffee machine in every room with capsules.
The rooms themselves are modern and fresh with a huge bed and large tv with a wide selection of Chanel's. The views from the rooms looked across the coast and the sun rise every morning. The breakfast was served in the restaurant which was a light spacious area with yet more views. Theres a roof top pool and sunbathing area .you also get free access to the sea pool lido in the resort. The gym is well appointed and modern .

First, I was sceptical when booking this hotel. Looks great on the pics and the price is great. What's the catch? The answer: there's none. This was literally my best hotel experience in the last decade.
We were pampered with lots of surprises (welcome drinks, gifts). The hotel staff is exceptionally helpful and kind. The rooms are modern and equipped with everything you need (including tea, coffee, bathrobe, slippers). Our balcony looked over the sea so we could enjoy the sunrise from our room.
The breakfast was amazing - you seldom find such diversity and quality for breakfast. The pool and jacuzzi were great. We also dined at the hotel restaurant and the food was really delicious and good price-quality ratio.
First, I booked this hotel for our whole stay in Madeira. Later, I split up our stay between this and another hotel on the other edge of the island. A mistake we dearly regretted.
If you go to Madeira for nature or wellness, this hotel has it all. There is also the rock pools just outside of the hotel, great hiking trails nearby (Ribeira da Janela valley, Fanal, Achadas da Cruz, Levada do Moinho, Ponta do Pargo, Fontes 25, Cascato do Risco...) and the beautiful sunsets you can enjoy from one of the numerous viewpoints on the west coast.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
Porto Moniz, which is an absolute gem in the north outside of Funchal's noise and traffic, is home to Aqua Natura Bay. Yes, I had high expectations due to the good reviews. And yes, my expectations were exceeded.
Staff was exceptionally friendly in every single interaction, always wearing a genuine smile and willingness to help you with any question you might have.
We stayed in the family room, which was much larger than we anticipated. It was very comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen. There were four beds, so we slept comfortably and the beds were very high quality. Bathroom had a bath and the balcony (in the third floor) a beautiful view of the sea.
Breakfast was very good, as expected from the other reviews, but the staff, again, exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast chef was always ready to help with anything.
Downstairs there were two saunas available for booking with no extra cost, a pool and a jacuzzi that were freely available. The indoor pool was heated to be very comfortable. On the roof, there was another pool, not heated, but it didn't stop us Finns from swimming in it.
And I do have to mention the cleaning, the room was exceptionally clean. The cleaning staff was very friendly, again, and did an exceptional job keeping us comfortable during our stay.
Overall we definitely found the place to go back to whenever we're going back to Madeira

Porto Moniz and the surrounding countryside are well worth a short visit, we stayed two nights (which was enough in this small town). Good base for walks around Rabacal. The Aquanatura is a pleasant, clean and very welcoming friendly hotel, located right beside the impressive natural volcanic sea pools - borrow a towel from the hotel and head straight across the road. Rooms clean and comfortable, if a little on the small side. No direct air conditioning, but a mobile unit available on request (unfortunately quite loud in operation but does the job).
Nice rooftop terrace with pool. One of the better places to eat in the evening , if a little lacking in atmosphere.
Special thanks to the reception team who very kindly arranged for postage of some lost property.

Aqua natura bay was the second hotel we visited on Madeira island, so we could compare. We arrived at the hotel after a strenous hike from Pico Areeiro to Pico Ruivo and back and a long drive. We arrived late in the evening and were very surprised by the very friendly and warm welcoming, a free cocktail and we were still able to eat diner in the restaurant. Because of this warm welcome, we felt immediately comfortable in the hotel.
The beds were huge and soft and had enough pillows. We were also welcomed with free (cooled) champagne in the room! I have read the hotel was recently renovated and it showed: the room looked fresh and new.
The nights are pretty quiet here: we were able to sleep with the balconydoor open on some nights, the area surrounding the hotel is quiet at night and yet you are surrounded by a natural pool, an aquarium and a small harbour. A little further you find a lot of small shops, a coffeebar, a restaurant and an ATM. During the day it might happen tourists are dropped off at the natural pools in front of the hotel. Still you have the feeling your hotelroom is a private little corner.
We also used the amazing infinitypool on the top of the hotel. It's amazing! We notived there was an outside bar where you could order food and drinks and restingbeds are available, which made the experience relaxing.
The restaurant in the hotel is very good, but a bit pricy compared to surrounding restaurants. Service in the restaurant and at breakfast was friendly. At breakfast you are offered a wide range of food and also some local specialties to try.
Some nice extras:
-you can refill your waterbottles with cooled and fresh drinkingwater at the frontdesk to lessen the use of plastic waterbottles.
-every morning you can enjoy the sun coming up: the whole hotel has its rooms pointed towards the sunrise.

This hotel is absolutely superb. The staff were brilliant and the the hotel was spotless. The breakfast is excellent and the food in the evening had a good choice and was beautifully presented. We had paid for the deluxe room but they gave us a choice of an accessible room when we got there which wasn’t on the booking form so we opted for the accessible room as my wife is a wheelchair user . Swimming pool and jacuzzi were great but the the pool upstairs wasn’t accessible which was a shame but a small thing really . Parking outside was good but it was in November.wonderful views and very quiet at night even when the window left open . Good electric keyboard player one evening . One of the nicest hotels I have stayed at

This property in Porto Moniz is a true gem! Its location is ideal, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and easy access to the charming, well-maintained town. The natural pools are perfect for relaxing after a day of trekking. The house is newly built, beautifully designed, and meticulously maintained, with all the essentials provided, including a Nespresso machine, which was a nice touch. It's just a 2-minute drive or a 5-minute walk from the main hotel, allowing you to enjoy peace and tranquility while still having access to all hotel amenities. The rooftop pool offers an amazing panoramic view, ideal for unwinding. Despite being a separate property, guests can take full advantage of the hotel's services, which is a major plus. The staff was incredibly kind and responsive, quickly resolving a small issue we had. A special mention goes to the abundant breakfast, packed with fresh, local products that made the stay even more enjoyable.

We booked a family room for our 4 adult children and a private room for ourselves. The family room has a kitchenette and a door separating it from the bedroom. Our bedroom had a huge bath tub with an amazing view over the coastline. As a family we couldn't have asked for better hotel accomodation. Our children's room was on the same level as the rooftop pool and with easy access which really delighted them! We were also very lucky with two glorious, warm sunny days out of the the three days we had booked. Not very usual at this time of the year! The breakfast was really good, big variety, always fresh, tasty and always replenished when needed. The staff are really friendly, helpful and efficient. A special mention to the receptionist, Judite, who went out of her way to try to satisfy our needs. Always friendly and helpful. Definitely will be going back and bringing other family members with us! Thank you!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left this stay was such a lovely experience. This kind of level of attention and service is a rare thing it seems these days but the team at the Aqua Natura Bay have it in spades!
The hotel itself is beautifully designed . The interior design immediately creates a calm and peaceful atmosphere , that goes right through to the delightful bedrooms. Really I can’t say enough good things about this place!
The gym and the spa facilities are great for a hotel of this size, and the indoor pool is such a bonus! Unfortunately the weather didn’t give us the best opportunity to use that fantastic small but beautiful outdoor pool.
The view from the rooms is a stunner, and the great sized balconies really do give the possibility of sitting and soaking in that view!
The room was one of the best rooms I have stayed in for years! Beautifully laid out and appointed. Great facilities and THE most comfortable bed.
But all this would be just wasted if the staff weren’t who they are really. Whoever heads up this team should be justifiably proud of them. They all have had the best attitude and everyone of them we came into contact with were faultless in their work . Absolute joy.
Sadly Porto Moniz by night is a bit of a cynical place for me .pretty disinterested once the day trippers have gone away..but that said..I would definitely return to this hotel just because of the welcome it offers.
Thanks to all the team..you really are the best.

We had an absolutely amazing 10 day stay at the Aqua Natura Bay at the end of last month. From the moment we arrived, every single member of staff was incredibly friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. A special mention must be made of Lucie who absolutely brightened our day at breakfast each morning with her cheerful smile. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and with a great choice. Evening meals were delicious with a good menu choice and a lovely touch was a complimentary bottle of wine in our room.
I am a wheelchair user and we stayed in a wheelchair accessible room (104) on the first floor with a roll in shower and height adjustable sink - a good sized, bright and airy room with a balcony and sea view.
The entire hotel, including the pool and jacuzzi area were super clean and bright.
This is a truly fabulous hotel and I would stay here again in a heartbeat,
