Middle of beautiful nature, only 10km from Anghiari (one of the many piu belle borghi d'italia in the region.) Osteria with own farm products and high quality Tuscan specialties. Beautiful swimming pool, relaxing atmosphere

We stayed in one of the apartments which is not far from Locanda del Viandante. The appartment was beautiful - very well equiped - one of the best we have ever stayed in. And the infinity pool is divine. The staff are very friendly and helpful and were eager to help with anything that we needed and also helped with organising trips. However our apartment was closest to the road which in itself is not a problem as there is very little traffic in the area. Sadly we had no privacy as the guests that come from the B&B to use the swimming pool have to walk past our terrace to get to the pool. I found this quite disturbing and never felt totally relaxed and comfortable. Plus the other apartment in our building provides accommodation for a very large group. The week that we stayed there were two families staying there with lots of children. There is little or no sound proofing so we could hear them constantly and the children made lots of noise both inside and outside. This is understandable with such a large group but again because we didn't have a private terrace we never felt like we could get away from it all. The children were constantly running through our terrace to get to the pool. And it did get very busy at the pool which is also a shame - I didn't find it relaxing at all. So whilst the apartment offers great facilities I didn't find this a very relaxing holiday - too many people on the one site which is a shame.

In the middle of nowhere you are served the best of food in a stunning environment overlooking the valley. A small little restaurant that we visited twice with family and friends while staying at a villa next door. The kids loved the meat and said it was the best meat in our 17 day tour of Europe.

Locanda del Viandante (inn of the traveler), is a beautifully restored old farmhouse-turned-luxury b&b tucked away in a not very traveled part of Tuscany, with a first-rate restaurant, a professional, gracious young staff, and the most reasonable rates we encountered in our two-week trip to Italy. Make reservations early -- it's not quite undiscovered -- and make sure to program the GPS for Ponte alla Piera, the little town on the outskirts of the town of Anghiari where the LdV is located.

Despite holidaying locally on a regular basis - we had only visited this restaurant once before. We really enjoyed it the first time and I have been nagging my husband to take me back for lunch which we did. When we arrived we were the only people there despite it being a Saturday. However, this did not detract at all - we sat outside on the lovely terrace and looked at the fabulous scenery. The lady who served us, came across as more than just a waitress as she was very knowledgeable about the menu. She reassured us everything was organic and locally sourced. The organic Chardonnay was the best I have tasted in a long time, in an area where white wine is poor at best. She was very pleasant without being overbearing, we were given all the time in the world to eat and chat and every course was served with interesting details about the origins of the food, and how it was prepared. When we came to pay, we commented on how nice the home made Cantucci biscuits were and we were given bag to take away. Cost wise it was in the upper end of what we would pay for a lunch and certainly more expensive thatn other restaurants in the area, but we felt it was worth every penny.
