Rocabella Santorini was born out of Santorini’s whitest whites and bluest blues, a peaceful retreat for travelers who seek a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Literally meaning ‘beautiful rock’, our resort is located in the picturesque village of Imerovigli, a slice of heaven where you can enjoy the best sizzling sunset story of your life. The privileged location of the hotel, just far enough away from the bustle of the city, yet strategically positioned within easy reach of the capital, Fira and the dreamlike village of Oia, makes it ideal for every type of traveler. Our 42 rooms and suites have been carefully designed with minimal decor, simple lines, and ethereal charm to accentuate the Cycladic culture and authentic island life. They beckon you to a storybook world of sea, romance and dreams.

Nestled in a serene and picturesque setting, Rocabella Santorini Hotel captivates guests with its stunning views and tranquil atmosphere, ideal for relaxation and special events. While opinions on value vary, with some finding it overpriced, many appreciate the luxurious amenities, including multiple pools and elegant rooms that boast comfort and breathtaking vistas. Service at the hotel is frequently lauded for its attentive and friendly staff, enhancing the overall experience.
However, a note of caution: the atmosphere can occasionally feel pretentious, and events may impact the peaceful ambiance. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with the hotel maintaining immaculate facilities.

Detailed Reviews
The hotel provided a transfer from the Port - which was very busy and took them nearly 2 hours to get to us due to the traffic on the mountain roads, yet we were still welcomed with a friendly face and given cold water and a gift a bag, the staff were consistently friendly and helpful, we went just outside of season and received free room upgrade which was absolutely stunning. Woke up every day to a view of Oia and the Aegean sea. We had a hot tub outside, as well as the use of 3 different swimming pools. Room and all facilities were immaculate. Location was perfect to get to both ends of the Island - the staff organised for us to rent a car meaning we could explore & it was for a good price compared to other local companies. There was a wedding on whilst we were there, which was beautiful and made the atmosphere in the hotel amazing. The food was good - cooked breakfast every day was delicious and loads of variety. Have recommended this place to a lot of people since, and have even recommended this for weddings! Thank you for the amazing stay x

I have just returned from a week at this lovely hotel with my 18-year old daughters. A much needed break after a stressful year. As soon as we walked into the hotel reception, staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were offered refreshments, check-in was very speedily handled, our luggage taken to our room and a we were given a quick tour of the hotel. We had booked a Deluxe room for the 3 of us via BA holidays; we were expecting a regular double room with extra bed, but this far exceeded our expectations - 2 double bedrooms, a lounge and bathroom, small terrace facing the main pool area and a balcony at the back with a hot tub!! The hotel is all white in typical Greek Cycladic style, 3/4 pools, 3 outdoor bar areas and restaurant where we had breakfast each morning with the most stunning views. The hotel
is located just outside Imerovigli and about 15 minutes walk to the village centre where there are bars, restaurants and shops. About a 40 minute walk to the capital Fira and if you come during the cooler months, you can do the 1.45 hour walk to Oia. There are buses from Imerovigli to both Fira and Oia and from Fira more buses to the rest of the island. Otherwise hire a car or the hotel can arrange transport. The hotel is perfectly located in a peaceful location without the hustle and bustle of too many tourists you get in Oia and Fira. In fact, I much preferred being in Imerovigli and watching the sunset from there as Oia gets really busy even in the midst of a pandemic!! I can’t recommend Hotel Rocabella enough and would most definitely return. The room, facilities and staff were all amazing and really made our holiday in beautiful Santorini very special. Thank you everyone at Rocabella.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was amazing: they picked us up from the airport, organized taxi pick ups whenever we needed it, set us up with an ATV/Quad that got delivered directly to the hotel, helped make dinner and spa reservations for us, etc… The various pools all have views and it was just so peaceful laying out with cocktails in hand. It’s a great location if you want to be in between Perivolos (black sand beaches) and Oia (northern tip of the island). You’re right in the middle so the travel time in either direction is never too long. We were also a quick ride into the main towns of Fira and Imerovigli, where we had lunch and dinner many nights. They also have their own ATM and parking lot which made it super easy for us get cash and just hop on our Quad and go. The main hiking trail is also right in front of the hotel on the caldera side. We walked to Fira one day (great workout after all the food we had been eating). You could also walk to Oia, as well, so you have options to get some exercise in. Honestly, I liked this hotel because it’s more private and property is larger. The rooms aren’t stacked on top of one another, like most other hotels, where everyone walking by or dining can see you sunbathing on your patio. Can’t wait to come back!

We moved to the Rocabella from our previous accommodation due to them being fully booked, and it was a chance for us to experience a different part of the island to which we normally stay.
On arrival check in was quick and easy, we were offered water or champagne and our luggage taken to our room. We followed, and were extremely lucky to have received an upgrade to a premium room. This meant we had our own secluded hot tub on the balcony (room 104). The front overlooked the main pool, the rear faced the reception area and the road. This wasn’t a problem, and also meant if you are early birds you get to see the sunrise from the large bathroom window! The room was very soundproofed so we were not disturbed by this.
The bed was comfy, the pillows a little like marshmallows for my comfort. There are plenty of facilities in the room that you would expect. TV with a multitude of foreign channels, coffee machine, hairdryer, pool towels etc. Do remember an eye mask if you prefer a darkened room. This room was extremely light in the mornings and lit by several lights in the room at night!
The bathroom I thought a little odd, with a bath not in keeping with the hotel - red plastic in a beautiful white hotel? The shower wasn’t great, the water was hot but the head was small and probably needed a clean. Also it was a wet room, which made the floor lethal after 2 people had showered.
Breakfast was excellent given the challenging restrictions hotels are facing right now. The only thing is there are no menus given, and as we had left our phones in the room, we were unable to download the QR codes. This meant the waitress had to recite the menu. Not an issue but an inconvenience to both to us and her. This could have been mentioned at check in, or a note in the room.
Service for drinks in the evening was a little haphazard. Prices however reasonable given the location.
The Rocabella is situated about 10 mins from Imerovigli by the cliff top path. Very walkable but a little rough in places. We walked into Fira and back which was a 40 min walk each way - doable, but avoid the heat of the day, and try to get back just after sunset as the path is not lit.
The main pool was very quiet during the day, no clamour for sun beds, despite there being less than normal due to restrictions. There seemed to be very few umbrellas though.
There is a small spa onsite, I can’t comment on this as we didn’t use it but I popped my head in, and it smelt lovely!
Some rooms pools seemed to be overlooked by passers by, or your next door neighbours, but our room was perfectly situated so one to request if you are wanting this room type.
A beautiful hotel, in a quiet area. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this would be for you. If you want to be a bit closer to the action, something more central would be your best option.

+1
Large hotel for Santorini standards, but a bit dated as it is 30 years old. We initially took a superior suite with a plunge pool, but since the room was too small we paid extra for an Executive room with caldera view. The view was mind blowing and offered the best caldera and sunset views. The al carte breakfast was delicious, room service also great. The staff were always friendly and approachable.
Cons- No places to hang clothes, towels etc in the room, water seeps in from the bottom of the windows when it rains. Off season is a good time to visit to avoid the crowds but renovation work happens in the hotel which can be noisy and intrusive at times. No free shuttle provided by the hotel and taxis to Fir Nd Oia are very expensive off season (buses don't seem to run either). 4.5 stars overall.

Dear gracepanchuau, We would like to cordially thank you for staying at our beautiful retreat for your holiday break. Indeed Rocabella Santorini counts over 20 years in the hotel reality of Santorini but nevertheless has undergone various renovations over the years in order to always stay updated and to give off a sense of chic simplicity. We are delighted you enjoyed our location which is considered the best on the island since it offers the most beguiling and breathtaking views to the Caldera and the renowned Santorinian sunset, successfully competing and even prevailing to the views of enchanting Oia. So glad to know that our a la carte breakfast options and room service, which are carefully chosen to provide a variety that will satisfy every taste were to your liking. Our team is always willing to cheerfully serve and accommodate any of your wishes. Being a boutique retreat our rooms vary in space and in type but there is a certain diversity of choice and an accordance to space with the type of room you select and reserve. Nevertheless our rooms offer all the amenities necessary for your stay including a ladder shaped rack where you can hang your towels and/ or clothes. We only wish you had reached out to our housekeeping service who would have been more than happy to indicate the said rack and take care of the condensation turned into water at the bottom of your window due to the humid and cold winter weather. Although we remain open all year round, winter season tends to be quieter and offers an opportunity for our renovations for which our esteemed guests are advised well in advance both through our reservation sites and our welcome letter. However we do take extreme care to confine them in levels where no disturbance is generated to our guests. Again we feel that since we have your wellbeing as a priority it would have been most welcome if you had reached out and most certainly we would have made sure to keep any noise and/ or inconvenience at an even lower level in order to keep you happy. Our free shuttle operates from April onwards but there is a bus service that works all year round. It was really a pleasure to have you with us and we really anticipate your return during the summer season when you will have the opportunity to encounter a warm weather and all that is entailed thereof. Kindest regards

We got married at Rocabella and it has been an experience that we will always remember. We got married on the 8th of September 2020 on an open terrace. The wedding planners Katerina and Maria were fabulous, proactive and designed the big day in a great result. I highly recommend the place for a wedding ceremony and party.
The hotel itself is so luxurious and in a beautiful setup. The view is breathtaking and the suites very traditional an elegant touch of decoration. They have a great anti-Covid policy and everything feels very safe to use.
The food and wine were amazing in the restaurant. The receptionists were always happy to help and very professional.
The only things that I did like were the pool was extremely cold and I could not enjoy my swimming, the decoration of the suites should change and they should put a safety ribbon on the stairs as they can become very slippery if you are walking around the room with wet feet AND dangerous. Nobody wants to fall down and hit themselves on their wedding day...

There's no secret to why we've been loyal patrons of Rocabella Spa and Resort for the last twenty-five years. This was our third time visiting the island and we always like to stay in different towns, on this occasion we chose Imerovigli since reading comments on this website, everyone spoke of the impressive sunsets of the Caldera. So we chose Rocabella thinking that it was a good option given the images on their page and the favorable comments they had. However, the experience was disappointing, it is overpriced for the service they offer and the facilities they have. We stayed in one of their largest rooms since we traveled with children and upon entering the room it had an outdated, neglected appearance, the closet doors were stuck, they were swollen due to lack of maintenance, I could not use the hair dryer in the main bathroom because when it was plugged the power went off in half of the room, we could never use the mini pool that the room has because it was very dirty and the water was extremely cold.
At breakfast the options are limited, the waitresses always greeted us kindly but their service is very inflexible with simple things such as requesting some fried egg well cooked or asking for pancakes without all the elements they included, they answered was always "not possible because the chef says"... and some weird explanation.
The rooms near the caldera lack of privacy since the terraces face the backstreet and people and service vehicles constantly pass by, interrupting the tranquility that you could be experiencing while sunbathing.
The room service is deficient, to make a single delivery of what we requested, the person came back 3 times, once to deliver the dishes, another to deliver the cutlery and the third to deliver the drinks, the layout of the hotel doesn't make it easy to transport the service in carts, but they could think of another solution that doesn't make guests wait so long to be completed a single request.
They definitely have no idea what it is to offer a luxury service, this accommodation is a 4-star hotel, very average the service they currently offer.
They don't offer anything special that is worth paying for.

Stayed in September, which is a lovely month to be in Santorini for the weather. However, be prepared for wedding month (look at all the reviews for weddings!). If you are not part of the wedding, you are a bit of a second class citizen and lose access to part of the hotel. Room was nice and spacious and the pool was lovely and cold for those hot days! Wasn’t made to feel particularly welcome but the pool bar and restaurant staff were excellent, particularly Loukia, who was a massive plus point! It is very pricey to eat and drink in the hotel…overpriced for what it is. It takes about 10-15 mins to walk up the hill to Imerovigli for some excellent restaurants and a supermarket for reasonably priced goods. If you have a late flight, don’t bank on good facilities for changing after a final day in the sun. A hot toilet block with smelly shower water was unpleasant and not a great way to get ready to travel home! Compared to other places we have stayed in Santorini, definitely lower down the list and not what it says on the tin.

Response from George Kalfopoullos, Owner at Rocabella Santorini Hotel
Responded Sep 20, 2021
Dear adC8093NH, Thank you for your recent stay at Rocabella Santorini Hotel and Spa for your holiday break. We are delighted you enjoyed the comfort of our rooms and the convenience of our pools. Please rest assured that we will gladly pass your kind words to Loukia and the pool bar and restaurant staff and let them know that their attentive service made a difference. We appreciate you spared the time to share your comments however, we are concerned since upon checking our records to obtain more information about your experience there was no feedback on your dissatisfaction with our services. We would unfortunately have to disagree with some of your comments and more specifically to those related on the lack of attention you received as well as the loss of access to part of the hotel and your dislike to our prices. We are popular for our hospitality and our idyllic wedding events and as such when a nuptial event takes place there is a designated venue in order to achieve the unhindered stay of our other esteemed guests. No access is impeded whatsoever other than that to the wedding venue. Furthermore all our guests are accordingly advised well in advance and prior to their arrival at our beautiful resort, that is to say that wedding events do not come as a surprise to our guests at all, on the contrary it is information well shared beforehand. On the issue of our prices although we do acknowledge that this is your personal opinion according to your private circumstances which we respect immensely kindly note that Santorini is a challenge in terms of commodity prices as most products need to be either ship or air freighted in. Nevertheless we regularly check with our competitors and know that we are providing better value for our guests. Thank you for alerting us on the issues you experienced after checking out, on the complimentary use of the hotel amenities you were granted. We will be looking into this matter further with our team to ensure that in the future our guests receive the seamless experience we are renowned for. Once again, thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor and for your constructive feedback. We only wish you had reached out to our Management team during your holidays so we could have the chance to turn you into a happy guest. We wish you all the very best in the future and we hope you will consider staying with us again as we are confident we can provide an even better experience. Warmest regards
