Detailed Reviews
We chose to celebrate our honeymoon at the magical Iconic Santorini hotel. The caldera views and the staff really make this place. If I was giving feedback on the staff alone (especially Vaios, Elizabeta, Anastasia and Vilson), I would give them 6 if I could! They are extremely attentive, friendly and nothing is any trouble. The hotel is stunning and lives up to the photographs. It is extremely clean and the breakfast is out of this world! Due to our budget, we stayed in a deluxe room (we hoped we might be upgraded like hotels often do for a special occasion as it was pretty empty, but we found out everyone was celebrating something. It’s definitely an island of proposals, weddings, anniversaries and honeymoons!). The room was gorgeous and huge — and the bed was bigger than our first flat in London! We had ordered a bottle of champagne (paid for) to our room which was waiting upon arrival — a lovely touch! The only downside of the room was that our table outside hugged the building as opposed to the cliff edge like most of the other rooms. We felt a bit tucked out of the way and didn’t get morning sun for breakfast until 11:30 onwards. We therefore made the mistake one morning of moving to an adjacent table in the sunshine (all rooms next to us were unoccupied for the majority of our stay so we didn’t think this would be an issue). Alas, the manager told us off and said we couldn’t move around due to Covid. We appreciated this but it was a bit confusing as there are many communal sun loungers and tables by the pool that everyone uses. It would’ve been nice to suggest an alternative for us, but we did that ourselves and went back to the manager and asked for a solution and she kindly gave us a semi-private table next to the restaurant for one morning in the sunshine. This was much appreciated. My advice is to choose your room carefully and maybe check that the outside space is what you want. My only other qualm was checkout. Majority of guests we met were given late check out until 5/6pm. As our room was in demand, we were told we had to check out by 1pm but could use the spa facilities. This was a nice gesture so we packed accordingly and went walking to Fira once we checked out with the hope of showering when we got back. When we returned, we were told other guests were having massages in the spa and we had to wait. Again, this wasn’t an issue at first (but it could’ve been avoided by realising there would be a clash and perhaps offered us another room — Covid can’t be an excuse for everything as the spa would need to be cleaned anyway), but we waited 45 minutes. With 10-15 minutes before our taxi departure, we were allowed to use the spa. We would’ve planned our day differently had we known this wouldn’t be an option. Finally, upon departure we were told we’d receive a lovely gift! We were very excited! But we left empty handed as someone had obviously forgotten to give it to us :(. I would love to give this place 5 stars but these things added up and tainted our stay. I think it’s important to make every guest feel valued and equal.

This hotel is something else, perched on the edge of the Caldera. We were upgraded to one of their suites with the most fabulous view over the Caldera. The suite was spotlessly clean and the hotel's Covid hygiene procedures were second to none. We felt 100% safe in the hotel, everywhere in fact, but particularly in our wonderfully comfortable and superbly furnished rooms. In these troubled and worrying times it's what we were looking for: a place to relax, chill out and not worry about Covid. Totally achieved. The breakfast which can be ordered at any time during the day and which was served on our own personal terrace was absolutely fabulous, with a variety of fruits, yoghurt, eggs, cheese, ham, pancakes, waffles, bread rolls and much more. All staff were always friendly, polite, helpful and efficient. I can highly recommend this hotel, particularly if you're worried about infection. I've never seen such careful attention to detail when it comes to deep-cleaning, or cleaning on a daily basis. One of the best palaces we ever stayed in!!

Greetings from Iconic Santorini! Sincere thanks for reviewing our tranquil retreat following your visit to this magical island. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the property's idyllic setting on the rim of the caldera in picturesque Imerovigli village. Our utmost goal is to provide magical moments to cherish and in these uncertain times, we remain fully committed to providing a safe setting. As such, your kind compliments regarding the service, cleanliness and hygiene protocols are highly rewarding. Chef Mattheos is happy that you found the daily breakfast offerings to your liking. Several of our visiting friends decide to remain at the hotel throughout their stays and in addition to the tranquillity, another main reason is the ability to savour breakfast at any time of the day desired. This special amenity continues to be a true luxury for romantics, honeymooners and those seeking an escape from the routine of daily life. Please consider yourselves part of the Iconic family, it would be a great pleasure extending a warm welcome back to your Greek home away from home in the not-too-distant future! Well wishes from the Cyclades and kindest regards from us all, Marcela Alfaya

The views from the hotel are amazing we personally found the service to be disappointing, we got end of season vibes. Breakfast was lovely although only warm one day out of 5, and did not expect the cleaners to be mopping the floor round our feet as we ate. The turn down service seemed to happen at an odd time, as everyone was getting ready to go out neither us or the room next door had the service while we was there. Found this to be odd when keys are left at reception so they know if you are in or out and also most people go out for the sunset. The bed was so un comfortable we had to keep swapping ends as the mattress sank. Unfortunately for us lacked the experience we would except from a smaller boutique hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and we are very sorry that your stay did not match your expectations. We certainly wish that you discussed these issues prior to your departure. The beds have an additional top mattress for extra "fluffiness". It can be easily removed for guests that prefer a firmer mattress. Our housekeeping team has constantly been praised for the quality of their work as you can witness from this same platform and try as much as possible to balance efficiency with discretion. We are truly sorry if we fell short in your case. Although by no means we are perfect and we always try to learn and evolve, if we were aware of the difficulties, we would have of course corrected all the issues and you would have been able to enjoy your visit more. We do hope to have an opportunity in the near future to welcome you again and offer you the true Iconic experience.

An absolutely stunning hotel with incredible views of the caldera. The rooms are beautiful with your own private terrace where the most beautiful (and huge!) breakfast is served. After noting I was peanut and gluten free, they made arrangements with the breakfast, that meant I could enjoy the daily offerings without feeling like an afterthought.
The beds are incredibly comfortable (also huge!) and the cave style rooms are just the right level of traditional and modern. The level of hygiene and cleanliness is extremely high which is comforting given the current climate.
What truly makes this hotel is the incredible and attentive team. Every member of the team we encountered over our week stay made us feel at home, and showed such attention to detail, arranging excursions and dinner seamlessly.
Dinner was also beautiful, would highly recommend the local orange pie! We can’t thank you enough and can’t wait to come back. Until next time!

Kalimera from the tranquil village of Imerovigli, Utmost thanks for your time taken to review our haven of tranquillity. The team and I are delighted with the feedback, a stay at Iconic Santorini is intended to feel like you are in the home of a Greek friend so your warm words of praise are truly motivating for us all! It is most pleasing to know that you were comfortable in the assigned residence and enjoyed the heavenly sleep experience of an all-natural 4-layer bed by COCO-MAT. Chef Mattheos is always ready to adapt when it comes to the dietary needs of our visitors and is grateful for the compliments regarding his fresh daily culinary offerings. It would be a real pleasure welcoming you back in the future and many thanks once again for the lovely review! With warm regards, Marcela Alfaya

It is hard to find more superlatives provided by other guests. I would emphasize that unlike other luxury boutique hotels the staff were genuine, warm and eager to break rules to meet my particular needs. It is a unique experience in that most of one’s time is spent outside at private lounge chairs and individual tables. The cave rooms have no windows, but they aren’t needed because one only goes to one’s room to sleep. And the sunset views over the caldera are extraordinary!

We had a fabulous time here - it’s such a magical place.
The bed was enormous and we loved having our breakfast served everyday on the terrace - including freshly made juices and coffee.
The staff were so friendly and helpful - we absolutely loved this place.
Like all hotels in this area, there are steps involved so bring some trainers!
The village has a number of good restaurants and Fira is just a 30 min walk along the cost.
Beautiful!

When travel limitations were briefly lifted we decided to make the most of the situation and visit Santorini at a time when we wouldnt have to battle the crowds. This was our first couple's holiday for many years and we were so desperate to get it right! We searched relentlessly for the perfect place to stay. We did not choose wrong. Perfectly placed in the centre of the islands with arguably the best view of the sunset. Central to all the nightlife, culture and history of the island. So many fantastic restaurants are on the doorstep and it is perfectly placed to explore. Everyone at this hotel went out of their way to make this week special, whether making bespoke cocktails (Christina was queen of this!), managing a mid week change in rooms as an end of week treat, arranging bookings and just generally being fantastic hosts.
The rooms are just fantastic, we started the room in a cycladic suite. Beautiful room with the most exceptional view. The bed was big enough to get lost in and the toiletries were better than the ones I had packed! The breakfast served on the terrace was fantastic every day and I loved the relaxed attitude as to when it was served.
For the last couple of days of our stay we upgraded to a cycladic suite. An equally fantastic room but now we could enjoy the amazing view from our own jacuzzi. We watched beautiful sunsets, sipping fresh cocktails, eating local food. Ultimate bliss.
I cannot thank this hotel enough for the experience they gave us. It truly felt like a once in a lifetime holiday but I really do hope I am wrong.

Greetings from Iconic Santorini, Many thanks for taking the time to review our serene retreat! We truly appreciate these warm words of praise and it is wonderful to hear that your first holiday in some time was a most memorable one. The tranquil village of Imerovigli at the highest part of the caldera is indeed perfectly positioned between the cruise shopping port of Fira and the sunset crowds of Oia. It is most pleasing to know you were comfortable during the stay and that our warm Hellenic hospitality has left you magical moments to cherish. Thank you once again for choosing our boutique cave hotel and we hope for an opportunity to welcome you back! With kind regards, Marcela Alfaya

We went to Iconic in August to enjoy our honeymoon. To put it in simple words: just amazing. Everything from food, location, staff and rooms there wasn't anything which didn't exceed our expectations.
Espacially the staff will do everything to make sure that you can enjoy this breathtaking atmosphere and scenery to the fullest.
Also the breakfast served on your private terrace is remarkable.
We'll definitely be back.

We spent four nights in the Cave Suite this September, and our experience could not have been better. The setting, views, and service make the high price worth it — the Iconic is a fantastic place for a romantic stay, and the views of the caldera from the property are nicer in my opinion than Oia, Thera, or other vantage points. The suites with private patios and outdoor hot tubs are especially nice, and both the daily breakfast on the patio and the food at the onsite Pergola restaurant were wonderful. Maria Elena at the front desk was particularly helpful and welcoming and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. We also appreciated the staff's help in securing local restaurant reservations. Would absolutely stay here again.

Our stay at The Iconic was wonderful. The staff couldn't do enough to help you. We were collected from the airport and our bags were transported seamlessly up and down the stairs. We stayed in a Caldera suite and breakfast was brought to us every morning to enjoy outside with the wonderful views. I would recommend staying in Imerovigli it is less hectic than Oia and Fira. There is an element of other guests passing you as you relax but these are only the hotel guests with a room next to you not general tourists walking by which we noticed with other hotels. The cave rooms are fun to stay in and spotlessly clean. There is not a great deal of storage space however, a very small wardrobe area with a small 3 draw unit so pack lightly! If the hotel perhaps had bed side cabinets with draws that could be helpful but in no way did it spoil our stay and we would definitely recommend. It is in a great location for the coast path walk to Oia/Fira and Skaros Rock if you are feeling active! Hotel food was good and lots of restaurants and a supermarket close by.
