This hotel is in an good location to explore the caldera side of Santorini. It’s a quieter location but well served by restaurants. The views are excellent, although the extent of the view depends on your room. I can’t imagine that any are not good though. Very good service and breakfast. The hotel has a small, outside restaurant but we did not try it. The rooms are very individual, many extend back as they are of the cave type. Ours was very small (too small for a week). Many others we saw were very generous and were the same price category. The pool area is small but very lovely and there was never a problem getting a bed, as some rooms have their own beds/plunge pools. There are multiple steps, in line with this side of Santorini!

This hotel is perfectly named. From everywhere you can have the breathtaking views of the sunset over the sea. It is also located perfectly on the caldera for walking into Thira. The rooms are built into the wall of the cliffs. Our room was gorgeous, as you walked into the room in cliff caves you could really enjoy the arched architecture ending in a private cave hot tub. The hotel staff arranged for us to have a private wine tour where we visited four local vineyards. The tour van was very comfortable and was high speed wifi equipped. It made for a perfect day. Breakfast is very nice with a private buffet and then menu for egg dishes etc. The staff here could not have been more lovely. They gave us excellent recommendations for dinner, were warm and welcoming, and wonderfully helpful during our entire stay. Should I ever have the opportunity to return to Santorini, The Chromata will be my first choice hotel.

My wife and I stayed in a Junior Suite for 3 nights. The location is between Thira (a mile walk) or Oias (10 minutes by car). The views of the caldera and volcano are just spectacular. We had a great time. Accommodations were as described with an attentive staff. The hotel offers an affiliated car service for airport/ port/town transfers in new Mercedes with professional drivers. While a nice feature, the charges were higher than we would have thought given the distances involved. The restaurant offers an outstanding breakfast each morning with a small team of dedicated staff who aim to please. Breakfast was consistently excellent, from the bread boxes of freshly baked pastry to the menu offerings. We utilized the hotels concierge for restaurant suggestions. While very good, the recommendations we received were to sister hotels restaurants and felt like they were shepherding business in a certain direction. I would recommend doing your own research on restaurants as there are many and most offer a good meal at a fair price. (The recommended restaurants were for fine dining at very high price points. We enjoyed one but the price reflected my earlier comment.). We were glad we went in May as the weather was perfect and the summer crowds were yet to arrive. Overall, it was a wonderful experience at a breath taking location.

Siyuated at Imeovigli just in front of the caldera, peaking on the sea, the Chromata is a fabolous and unique structure, made by rooms (very different in size, location, confort and price) at different steps, but all facinig the sea. I had one with private pool, large terrace and spacious and confortable inside. I would say PERFECT ! Excellent service and cleaning, all measures taken against the Covid, very flexible and prompt response from the consierge (thank you Mr. Panos!), delicious breakfast with a fantastic view on the Aegean Sea. What else could you ask to spend an unforgerttable holiday ? Just nothing. Enjoy !

This is a special luxury property with a great staff, amazing breakfast and of course great views. The village of Imerovigli is one of the highest points along the rim of the crater and offers great sunset views from the northern edge of the village (a five minute walk from the hotel). It is centrally located and doesn't suffer from the hordes of sunset crowds of Oia and cruise ship crowds in Fira (a 20 minute walk). Most rooms are in caves, which sounds dreary but their large size, the architecture's soft forms, white walls and flooring and very thoughtful lighting create a welcoming feel and the quiet gave me the best sleep of any hotel on our trip. Many of the rooms (including ours) don't have private terraces so guests and staff pass by, just like in a hillside village, but people are focused on the steps and not you. If you really want privacy on your terrace check with the hotel. The hotel's Chroma restaurant is quiet, romantic and serves great food. Our server studied wines and provided a mini-lesson in the different wines of Santorini (worth trying many!)

From pre-arrival planning until the moment you set foot in the airport to leave, Katikies Chromata staff work to ensure your vacation experience is the incomparable standard for what a luxury hotel can provide. We were fortunate to reserve the villa, which exceeded expectations in comfort, functionality and ability to remain connected to the broader hotel. Large private lounge space and pool were a key reason we chose the villa option. Whether it’s through WhatsApp, personal visits or the phone, staff took care of all requests; breakfast, lunch, drinks, bedding, etc. Always attentive, highly professional and friendly. Stella and her concierge team are next level. Arranging meal reservations, a wine event at their sister hotel, private boat through Katikies club all with personal service and consideration. In every event someone checked in personally to make sure the experience was enjoyable and up to standards. Private Transportation to island destinations was always available, and really appreciated their use of an EV fleet for comfort and carbon neutrality. Hotel location is excellent for those that want to walk and explore of stay put and relax. Hotel pool while small is as expected for Santorini properties on Caldera side, and nicely situated with bar and restaurant for breakfast and lunch.

We had originally booked our stay at Chromata in 2019 for the trip to be taken in May of 2020. Unfortunately, it got cancelled due to Covid. We FINALLY got to take our trip in October 2022 and our stay at Chromata was well worth the wait.
The moment we arrived, it was incredibly welcoming and a quick check in process. We were given a tour of the property and our room. The staff up front, Jota and Kristina were absolutely wonderful. They also gave a what’s app number readily available to help answer any questions or provide recommendations. After forgetting to pack some make up, they even helped provide options where to shop in the nearby town! They also helped schedule a private wine tasting and transfer to the port as well as a dinner reservation on the property and off the property.
Our room was very nice, with a walk out view of the caldera.
We ate at Chroma our first night which is upscale/fine dining. The service was great and food was wonderful. Our server, Panos was very attentive and friendly. We continued to see him throughout our stay and was always so happy and friendly!
Our favorite meal was always breakfast by the pool. We received a tray with assortments of pastries, bread, cookies as well as another tray that changed daily with an assortment of marmalade/jams/butter and honey. We were always served fresh squeezed juice and any choice of espresso/coffees. We then would order from the menu and everything I ordered was always fresh and amazing. We never had a breakfast after our stay at chromata that would ever compare. It was just an incredible “experience” as well. All of the servers were so amazing, but Evie is who waited on us most mornings. We were always greeted with a smiling face and would teach us a new Greek word/saying each day. The pool service was wonderful and again, I can’t say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff were. I wish I could list each person, I unfortunately just never got their names.
The private wine tasting was booked through the sister hotel at Selene restaurant in Fira. It is the number one restaurant in all of Greece! I am not a “big wine person” but it was such a fun experience. Our sommelier, Katrina was so wonderful. We learned a lot and had a blast! I would recommend this activity to anyone.
Our driver, Demetrius was so sweet and nice!

Spectacular views literally in every direction! A perfect midpoint between Oia and Fira that is quiet, with beautiful rooms, and friendly staff. A wonderful romantic, tranquil location that you just can't get bored of the views. The trail walk (not really a hike except for a couple short areas) to Oia is fun, will burn off breakfast, and can be done by most in 1.5 - 3hrs depending upon how often you stop for pictures. - Tennis shoes are fine for walk, but I wouldn't recommend sandals / keds. Oia is high end shopping/pricing and the streets get filled with cruise ship visitors by noon, so plan accordingly. The walk to Fira is ~10-15 minutes and has plenty of tourist shopping and great restaurants if you don't want to eat on premise. I believe you are about 1,000ft above the water at the hotel, which makes the views incredible, but there is no beach/water access here. If you want to do an evening catamaran cruise, the place to schedule and pickup is across the street, and the grocery mart / Jimmy's Gyros is a 30 second walk from the hotel. Lastly, you are staying at a hotel with rooms dug into the cliffside, so there are steep stairs / no handrails, so plan accordingly. You can ask for a room at the top to minimize stairs if need be. We stayed at the bottom which meant the most stairs, but I believe the views are the best there. That said, there are no bad views. Lastly, the hotel pics are legit - what you see truly is what you will get. Overall a great place to spend a 3-night stay.

My friend and I stayed here for three nights(10/22-10/24/2022). It was like a dream, we were in the middle of these majestic surroundings. From my experience, this hotel is perfectly located in the Imerovigli, which is between Fira an Oia. Imerovigli gives us quiet, uninterrupted relaxation with a majestic view. We watched sunset from our balcony every evening. It's a 20-25 minutes walk from the hotel to Fira on a path with stunning Agean sea and caldera view. About 8 minutes walk from the hotel, there is a bus stop and we rode a public bus to Oia. The ladies at the concierge service, were welcoming and professional. They gave us all the options to explore the island, and answered all of our questions. We had deluxe breakfast every morning by the infinity pool and looking at this amazing view. The restaurant staff was professional, friendly, and provided excellent service. House keeping would come at evening time to check on us and to give us extra water. This hotel gave us an exceptional experience in Santorini. I can't wait to stay here again.

Our room had an unrestricted view of the islands in the atoll as well as being perfect for the sunset. The food, accommodation and staff were absolutely wonderful. Located north of Fira, which is a 15 minute stroll downhill, it is ideally placed in a bible of calm. The sunset cruise reception arranged for us was excellent with pick up and drop off very near the hotel. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Hi:
Most rooms are in fact in the mountain - you will be staying in a cave. All rooms have a great view from the balcony. Both my wife and I found it quite Kool. I would ask for a room closer to the top as the lower rooms are close to the pool and restaurant and less private. The pool is very small and open to all gusts. The good news is that we were there for 4 day and no one used the pool. Enjoy
We also went in mid May and the crowds were very manageable in Fira yet the hotel area was easy to get around and in walking distance to many restaurants which we had the hotel concierge reserve tables for us about a week to all the way up to the day and never had trouble getting seated immediately. Everyone is right ,the pool is on the cool side but it is hot by that time of summer and you will get a lounger because the hotel staff is great at accomadating the guests in the pool area. The junior suites have great views and the Hotel ,if they can,will almost always try to upgrade a room grade for you. It's an easy walk along the caldera towards Fira and the views are amazing in Imerovigli. The sushi restaurant at the Hotel is delicious and the breakfast was always fresh local food and made to order. The only time we encounter big crowds was in Oia but everywhere else was fine.
There are more places to choose from in the Imerovigli area.
