We stayed in one of the older casas and they have seen better days. The windows don't seal shut, and the drawers are slightly warped and you have to slam them to get them to stay closed. We usually didn't have hot water to take showers, but of course it was 95 degrees outside so I guess didn't really matter. The lights in the rooms are also very dim for some reason so its just dark at night. The beds were pretty comfortable. With all that said, the AC worked great and the rooms were large and very clean. Housekeeping did a outstanding job every day. The grounds are beautiful. The pools are lovely and are cleaned every day. There are howler monkeys always around and beautiful birds. There isn't much of a lobby and no AC so it's not that pleasant during the day to spend any time there. The hotel staff was AMAZING. Like beyond! There wasn't anything they wouldn't do for you. The beach wasn't that pretty. Its a public beach and no lounge chairs or anything. W went for a walk a few times that's.about it. If you aren't overly fussy, the hotel is perfectly fine. Especially if you are spending your days doing activities and trips. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was great and like I said the AC in the rooms was perfect! The newer rooms were much nicer so I would book there.

On a bay sheltered from the Pacific Ocean, this small (about 80 rooms) is a great place to kick back and relax beside either of the two swimming pools or venture steps to the sand beach. We were there in 2020 and it was booming! The four bars were all alive with people and the buffet restaurant was filled with tempting dishes. This trip was post apocalypse and on the first night, there were only 20 souls. No buffet but a menu with three mains. As the days passed, people began to check in for the weekend and it was “happening!” That Monday dinner was packed and a very good jazz musician entertained with his saxophone. Tuesday lunch and supper and Wednesday lunch were, frankly, inedible! We looked to book a hotel near Liberia’s airport! Then it all changed! We met Jose, the brand new food manager. Very nice young guy. The resort knew they had problems. Food problems! He and his small personal cook staff had been hired to make BIG CHANGES! Dinner that night for the five remaining guests was a MARVEL! Jose said he’d make changes and if left alone, the Casa Conde may well become a “foodie destination!” If Jose is there, book with assurance. If he’s not, you were warned! The food photo is Jose’s bbq tuna, shrimp and octopus! Fabulous last dinner!

As a caveat, this review concerns only the standard room. We understand that the superior rooms are substantially better. First, the staff is phenomenal. Without exception, they were cheerful, friendly, helpful and efficient. The room AC worked very well. It kept the room comfortably cool but was not as good at dehumidifying. The room was quite spacious and seemed even more so because of the vaulted ceiling. The grounds were very extensive and the rooms and grounds were meticulously maintained. There are two pools, one salt water (but not very) and one fresh. Direct beach access but the beach is not very attractive. That’s the end of the good stuff. Even if you were a Spartan, you would find the room very spartan. There was no chair to sit one and no mirror except in the bathroom. The furniture was old and shabby and most of the drawers stuck. Now for the really bad parts. The lighting in the room doesn’t deserve the name. There was not nearly enough light for the size of the room. Most important, there was never enough hot water for two people to take a shower consecutively, or even singly much of the time.

I booked this hotel for March 2020. Covid hit and travel shut down. Understandably the hotel was thrown into the same chaos of everyone else. I had booked through booking.com and they decided their customers were due refunds for bookings not completed due to Covid. The hotel promised me a full refund and asked me to be patient. I have been patient. Too patient. Now I can’t get anyone to even speak to me about my refund. The one time I got to speak to the general manager she told me she hadn’t received any of my many, many emails. She magically found one while I was on the phone with it and said she would read it and get back to me. She has not, neither have any of the people I have spoken to in the last 2 years. This hotel and the people running it are a disgrace. Unfortunately I’ll never get to know if it’s an actual good hotel to stay at.

This hotel is not worth the amount of money that is charged. The rooms are run down and need to be redone. However, the staff were amazing and friendly and the pool area and restaurant are nice. Be careful about the taxi service recommended by the hotel -- the taxi driver that the front desk booked for us demanded double the rate when we arrived at the airport.
