I love this hotel. i have stayed here now many many times, and i have NEVER had a bad experience, so i thought i would finally write a DESERVED GOOD review. The Hotel is placed right at the heart of Dumaguete, everything you would want is with a few mins of the hotel, the hotel also provides trips to some of the popular tourist attractions. The rooms are always clean and fresh with daily room service, but in my opinion the only thing that lets the rooms down are the showers which sadly could do with more maintenance as often they are faulty in some way and poorly kept looking, but they still provide good supply of hot water. I have stayed in all of the rooms they offer, from their suite to the standard rooms, and all show the same levels of cleanliness and the rooms always feel welcoming. Free breakfast is provided and the restaurant is good and the food well cooked and presented , the hotel provides a full range of pampering service if you require some self indulgence. The staff are ALWAYS friendly polite professional and on hand for any reason and will always make you feel important and a valued guest. I have in all my stays at this Hotel had only ever had one problem which was dealt with professionally, immediately and satisfactorily,. This hotel is ALWAYS my first choice when i visit Dumaguete, and will continue to be so They have plenty of rooms and even as a walk in, i have never been turned away from being fully booked, Its always a pleasure staying here.... See you next time !…
It was a good hotel a few years ago but no longer. It is failing like so many hotels in the Philippines by falling into disrepair. Stayed here many times but this is the last, its just too bad now. The change in management is accelerating the decline probably due to profit taking instead of investment. Checked in for a 2 night stay 16th January 2023, wish it had been for only one. The only working lift has filthy hand marks on the doors on floor 7, the other lift is "under repair" but nobody is working on it. First room fail is a room safe that won't lock. Next was a cold morning shower, no hot water left at 7:20am. Reported and "maintenance" called after 9am and pronounced it working. Of course it was, the water had time to heat up. The suggestion was that I am stupid but despite the hot and cold labels being ambiguous I do know how a shower works and there simply was no hot water available. This hotel also has the now frequent trick of no hot water pipe to the basin, this is becoming more common. The room, 8702 on the 7th floor, odd numbering system, is small and grubby. There is a rough and dirty wall repair around the mirror, the paper roll holder is dirty and rusty. There is one easy chair, too low to use at the brown painted desk and the brown painted stool has an edge around the top to hold a seat and no cushion so after 5 minutes it is very uncomfortable. Is cheap local made brown painted fitted furniture really acceptable in a 3 star hotel in the 21st century? There are drinking glasses in the shower room, good, and in the bedroom along with cups, a kettle and a water jug, but nothing to put in them other than 2 small bottles of water. No coffee, no tea, no sugar and creamer, no spoon even. So what is the kettle for? Washing underwear in? Reception say buy drinks in the restaurant/coffee shop only. There is a fridge, empty, Bringing your own alcoholic drink into the hotel is forbidden, so why have a fridge? The basin has a safe, transformer isolated, hair dryer set with a safe socket for razors, very good. But it plugs into mains sockets right next to the basin in a wet area, highly dangerous. Is this wiring all over the wall for the TV and digital box acceptable in this day and age in a hotel? I don't think so. Admission to the breakfast used to be by one staff member checking at the restaurant door and seating you. No longer. There is a ticket system, you have each to collect a ticket in the morning from the office first, not handed out on the evening before. Then present it to another staff member on the buffet. A silly waste of staff time, belittling and frustrating for guests. Sadly this hotel is going down hill, I will never stay again, there are many good hotels in Dumaguete.…
The hotel is dated and tired. It is clean with personable hotel staff. It is worth its price which is around US$35 per night, given it's very good location in the city center yet very near the waterfront boulevard.
Been staying in this hotel on a two week basis for the past three consecutive months. The hotel staff are generally friendly and quick to attend to your hotel needs/requirements. Food is very good, but sometimes you need to wait for a bit longer to be served if the kitchen orders are in a long que due to the full house of the restaurant. The hotel is a bit old, but everything is functional and working. Generally very clean facilities even you notice some old fixtures.
We booked a tour with the hotels tour agency 'Hui discover travel' to Manjuyod Sandbar combined with dolphin watching. We firstly asked to be part of a group tour as it was very expensive to do a private tour. We were told this wasn't possible as the boat was fully booked and that we would have to hire a private boat. (Side note. We did not see a single full boat whilst we were there) . We went to the sandbar and spent about an hour there. We were then told by the boat man we could not do dolphin watching because the coastguard wouldn't allow it due to the weather. Fair enough you can't help the weather. When we arrived back at the hotel HOURS early, we went and spoke to the agency about getting a refund for the dolphin part of the tour. (Which is obviously the main part of the tour) we expected at least half of our money back. However, we did not receive this and all the company could offer us was 1/9th of our money back. They stated the reason for this was because the boat people had already been paid and they were refusing to give the tour company a refund. But as far as we are concerned, we paid the tour company for the tour. If they cannot provide it, it is up to them to provide a refund. I would book with a different company if you choose to stay here. About the hotel. Rooms were clean, very basic but that is to be expected for the price so cannot complain. The worst part of this hotel however, was the cold shower temperature as apparently this was solar powered. The breakfast was pretty basic. Not much selection. And the coffee was OK. But don't expect milk. Only creamer. …
Had a good stay with family. Affordable with the rooms clean and the staff polite. It's in the city center so you can just walk around the city going to the restaurants or Rizal Boulevard and everything. Hotel is a little bit worn out already but still worth a stay. They can improve on reinforcing COVID guidelines though. There were guests going around without masks, even near the the buffet area during breakfast. We told the staff but I'm not sure if they did anything. Overall it was pleasant, except for that one very important complaint, especially nowadays.
We arrived early in the morning at 8am, asking for 2 rooms for 2-3 days. We could immediately check-in without any additional fee. Hotel is greatly located at main road between southern Dumaguete and Airport. In the room, main road noise was not really disturbing. Room was very good compared to the "average Philippine standard", especially at this price. Spacious & clean. The restaurant was a big surprise. All the foods they offer, are very delicious.
Another stay in this deservedly popular hotel. Its conveniently situated in the centre of town with a good restaurant, and a spa. Excellent linens, beds and housekeeping. Good WiFi, free water, included breakfast buffet or a la carte if you want American or English cuisine. Bathroom in our room could do with a deep clean and TLC, fittings getting a little worn but still presentable. But this is no longer a new hotel and is very will used, always busy. Overall a great hotel to relax in, brilliant staff make staying a pleasure.
I stay here for 1 night and there’s no water in the room I can’t take a bath or any toilet things and staff can’t do anything just gave us an stupid answers just to wait until it’s working again and nowI’m writing this review still no water.DON’T STAY HERE
I always tell my guys to stay here during our Tour together. Its the only upscale place in central Dumaguete. It's not cheap, but the men appreciate the quality. They give me a discount since i am a regular.
