Detailed Reviews
Hotel is in a central location and most of the stores, bars, restaurants and nightlife are within reasonable walking distance. Staff usually helpful and friendly, but sometimes staff at breakfast were not. Breakfast was ok, but not great, but I persevered as it was included. Nice room, but thin walls, I could hear persons in corridor and rooms next door. On one occasion I could even hear the person in the room next door getting a massage (fortunately just a regular massage!). The door handle on the ensuite bathroom door came off completely while I was inside and I was momentarily trapped, not being able to open the door. I had to shove the handle forcibly back on and was fortunately able to get the door open. The one time I requested a room clean, housekeeping threw out the hand soap and didn’t replace it. They also didn’t replace / replenish the shower gel or toilet paper. The rubbish bin in the corridor was not emptied for several days. I asked housekeeping to empty it and they did not. It was only emptied after speaking with front desk staff.

Book last minute for a Twin Room and it has exceeded our expectation for a budget hotel. The room was well kept and pleasing to the eye. The beds were comfortable and smells nice. The bathroom was well-kept, too. I could say that the hotel has look through this details very well.
Was a little disappointed with the Breakfast though, foods were bland and not warm anymore (had our breakfast at 9:00)
The staffs were very friendly and helpful, too. And, always shares a smile with everyone!

The Henia has some pluses
- fast check in
- good elevator
- family rooms are spacious
- my bathroom was clean and in working order
- the bed itself was acceptable and the duvet and pillows were ok
- they now cook breakfast on site, so it’s hot which is a plus
- Location is across the street from Dumaguete Central Market
- bottled water provided
The not so nice
- it’s downtown and there is a lot of road noise
- no real bell service but the guard can help with your bags
- The USB outlets by my bed did not work. I talked to a coworker and hers did not either
- hand towels are dingy and thin
- check out is slow because they do a room check
- The desk chair is small and cheap
- Everything is very low to the ground, the beds, chair, lobby furniture….everything
- Internet is slow
Overall I will likely to continue to stay here because despite its flaws this is the best option I’ve found in Dumaguete

We already felt the warmth before we arrived with hotel rep Christa ably and promptly answering all our queries when we were arranging our room reservations.
We like that it is a moderate sized hotel (5 floors only) so there are not too many guests. Rooms are comfortable with quality beds and linens, simply furnished just the way we like it, not too much clutter and kitsch.
We booked 2 suites, 1 family room and 3 doubles. Breakfast buffet is included and it is ample and filling with good coffee, fruit, bread, garlic rice and a selection of 3 or 4 other dishes. There was even arroz caldo one morning.
The breakfast staff is efficient and gracious. Actually all the hotel staffers we encountered seem well trained and aim to please.
Location is central and walking distance to the church, Rizal Blvd by the sea, several restaurants, and a spa. It is also just across the public market where you can enjoy a halo halo at Bading's for only 30 pesos and the different kinds of suman at the row of painitan, buy dried fish and fruits, and even get a manicure or haircut!
Hotel rates are reasonable. Great value for the quality of service and accommodations.
My only beef is water pressure could be stronger but it was OK.
I highly recommend this hotel.

+1
It's just right in front of the public market and going to the usual restos is only a mere 10-minute walk. If you don't want to walk, getting anywhere within Dumaguete City (except the airport) is just PHP 10!
The bed was very comfortable with its white duvet linens. The room was spacious for a solo room and complete with water, towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, lotion, sewing kit, and kettle for hot water. You can just request for a hair dryer if needed.
The down side of the room is that the bathroom can have a weird smell - - something that I read about in previous reviews. It can be overcome though with may be some spray. There was also one pointy fly that got inside the room. Good thing I got to kill it.
As a heavy sleeper, the thin walls didn't bother me. It might be for others.
Breakfast was served buffet style with scrambled egg, adobo, maling, Italian pasta, porridge and some bread. Coffee, tea, and juice were available.
The receptionists were warm and very helpful.
Would stay here again.

Hi Denise, thank you for your detailed reivew! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. From our room amenities, to our convenient downtown location, to our breakfast buffet, to our friendly receptionists, we're glad we were able to make your stay something worth coming back to. We are definitely looking into the issue of the bathroom smell and looking for ways to remedy it. We appreciate your feedback and will take note of the points we can improve on. We look forward to seeing you again, and we hope you had a lovely time in Dumaguete. Sincerely, Christa

Booked 2 rooms in this hotel for our family's trip based on reviews. The facade appeared clean and well-maintained. It's location is strategic ... just across the public market, near the cathedral and the belfry. One can easily go out and hail a tricycle for a little more distant destination. The lobby was clean and neat. There's adequate seating for other guests when one is checking in. The rooms appeared adequate for 2 guests. The bathroom was a little tight but manageable. I'm not much with room amenities as long as the bed is comfortable, the bathroom is clean and the airconditioning is working. Unfortunately, one of the rooms didn't have a bathroom door. It appeared like the door got broken and management didn't even consider fixing it. They just hang a curtain the served as a door. The airconditioning was not cooling the room enough. The reception desk was very accommodating. She had us look at different available rooms, but it seems like all the airconditioners were not as powerful to adequately cool a room. It's not all because the room where my parents were was comfortable. I guess it's just our luck. So based on this I should be rating it 2-1/2. But the staff were so accommodating, from the reception to the dining area to housekeeping (EXCEPT for one who said they didn't have plastic utensils when we requested for one, but eventually found out they did as we were given one by another staff). I would say it's value for your money. But it could definitely improve.

We stayed in Henia for one night before our transfer over to Apo Island.
It is in a perfect location for everything. The public market is across the road. The bell tower is less than a 5 minute walk away and the promenade is about 10 minutes away.
The beds are super comfy, shower is luxurious. Thank you :)

Be careful if booking a double room in this hotel, as there is NO WINDOW in at least some of the double rooms. They do not alert customers to the lack of a window in Agoda, but do mention it in Booking.com. I booked on Agoda. When I asked to be moved to a room with a window, I was told it's because I booked a double room and I would need to upgrade to a family room or suite.

Their clean rooms can accommodate 4 indeed! 2 queen-sized beds with comfy pillows equals good night's rest. Clean bathroom with hot and cold shower and basic toiletries. Very hospitable staff. Downside is lack of parking and all-day dining. Several eateries around to choose from though.

Visited family staying here and it is in a great location - across the local market, near banks and other local establishments. Most local attractions are walking distance, or a tricycle ride away.
Contemporary decor inside, and though space is tight it is utilized well and looks good.
Staff is friendly but not particularly vigilant (pretty much anyone can walk in and use the elevator to head to any floor), and even in the dining area, my aunt had to go down and ask about breakfast as there was no one attending the area.
Rooms have large and comfortable beds, standard amenities and good lighting.
Certainly a good addition to the hotels in the area.
