Inspired by the modern simplicity of Scandinavian interiors, the Henia Hotel is sanctuary for the weary traveler. Conveniently located in downtown Dumaguete, the hotel is a short walk away from Dumaguete Cathedral and Belfry, Rizal Boulevard, and Silliman University. A quick tricycle ride can take you anywhere from the sea port, to the malls, or even to the airport. The Henia Hotel is right across from the Dumaguete Public Market, where many locals and tourists enjoy the tastes of a simple painitan breakfast of warm chocolate and sticky rice. Bask in the busy activities of a small but bustling city, enjoy the various travel destinations around Negros Oriental, or jump off from the port and experience nearby Siquijor, Cebu, or Bohol.

The Henia has some pluses - fast check in - good elevator - family rooms are spacious - my bathroom was clean and in working order - the bed itself was acceptable and the duvet and pillows were ok - they now cook breakfast on site, so it’s hot which is a plus - Location is across the street from Dumaguete Central Market - bottled water provided The not so nice - it’s downtown and there is a lot of road noise - no real bell service but the guard can help with your bags - The USB outlets by my bed did not work. I talked to a coworker and hers did not either - hand towels are dingy and thin - check out is slow because they do a room check - The desk chair is small and cheap - Everything is very low to the ground, the beds, chair, lobby furniture….everything - Internet is slow Overall I will likely to continue to stay here because despite its flaws this is the best option I’ve found in Dumaguete -

We originally planned to stay at another hotel but it was full so we decided to try Henia. Overall it’s been a good experience and I think this is probably the best option in Dumaguete, which for some reason has a very limited selection of hotels. The good: - The rooms are reasonably sized. They only had twin rooms when we booked. While they are basic, they are up to date, clean and reasonably roomy - The bathroom is decent quality, with expected amenities such as shampoo, toothbrush kits, etc. The shower is spacious. - The wall air conditioner works well - They bring the included breakfast to your room. You choose from a number of Filipino options each day. There is no western breakfast option. - Everyone I have dealt with has been friendly and helpful - The elevator, which is a rarity in Dumaguete hotels, is decent sized and very smooth The not so good: - There is a lot of traffic noise - The water pressure is not great - The internet is not strong. It’s virtually impossible to even upload things - The key card is very touchy, so it takes a long time to get the door open Overall, given the other options, I would recommend this hotel

Had bed bugs!!!! There were signs once I got to the room which I only associated later, so they (as professionals) sure needed to notice that before. Considering the fact that when I checked in the toilet paper roll was half used and the soap bottle dirty and used as well, not surprised if they didn’t even change sheets (it also had lots of dark stains) Could only blame myself for being too tired to notice all these and go away once I checked in. The staff did transfer me to another room at night and helped me with the clothes that touched the infected bed, but considering the fact that a google search for an unskilled eye showed clearly that there are bed bugs, it is still the hotel’s complete fault, in this case, to not notice in advance. (And in the second room there were LOTS of hairs in the blanket) If they would apologize and maybe suggest some kind of partial refund at least upon check out they would come out much better. Too bad they didn't, it's pretty basic. So if you’re coming to this hotel, please at least check your sheets very well and search online how to check, hopefully, it won’t be relevant to you… Bed bugs can happen everywhere, but it's how to place prepares for it, and handles such an event is that matters. Other than that- Breakfast was embarrassing, I’m not spoiled but didn’t even want to eat it. (Hard-boiled, non pilled, eggs and a few vegetables that looked bad) Had drilling noises in the morning, not sure from where Could hear very loud everything from the hallway and whenever another room’s door was open the noise from there I can say that the location is nice

Book last minute for a Twin Room and it has exceeded our expectation for a budget hotel. The room was well kept and pleasing to the eye. The beds were comfortable and smells nice. The bathroom was well-kept, too. I could say that the hotel has look through this details very well. Was a little disappointed with the Breakfast though, foods were bland and not warm anymore (had our breakfast at 9:00) The staffs were very friendly and helpful, too. And, always shares a smile with everyone!

We already felt the warmth before we arrived with hotel rep Christa ably and promptly answering all our queries when we were arranging our room reservations. We like that it is a moderate sized hotel (5 floors only) so there are not too many guests. Rooms are comfortable with quality beds and linens, simply furnished just the way we like it, not too much clutter and kitsch. We booked 2 suites, 1 family room and 3 doubles. Breakfast buffet is included and it is ample and filling with good coffee, fruit, bread, garlic rice and a selection of 3 or 4 other dishes. There was even arroz caldo one morning. The breakfast staff is efficient and gracious. Actually all the hotel staffers we encountered seem well trained and aim to please. Location is central and walking distance to the church, Rizal Blvd by the sea, several restaurants, and a spa. It is also just across the public market where you can enjoy a halo halo at Bading's for only 30 pesos and the different kinds of suman at the row of painitan, buy dried fish and fruits, and even get a manicure or haircut! Hotel rates are reasonable. Great value for the quality of service and accommodations. My only beef is water pressure could be stronger but it was OK. I highly recommend this hotel.

-The hotel is right across the public market and a 10-minute walk or less to the Church/Boardwalk. -The twin room we stayed in was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and smelled nice. They had more than one luggage rack. I could hear the noise from the street though. -We had difficulty using the keycard. The lock didn't read it immediately at times and we had to ask for assistance from the hotel staff. -There were sufficient choices in the breakfast buffet. If I remember correctly, there was at least 4 viands. The food tasted good. -No issues with security during our stay even though I did not see a security guard manning the front door all the time. -The staff were friendly and helpful. They seemed to be genuinely welcoming. I wouldn't mind staying here again.

Reasonable hotel for a quick stay, located in the centre of town close to bars and restaurants. Breakfast included which was a good variety of foods. The staff were friendly and the room was nice and large. Definitely one of the better hotels in town. The view out the window is normal for town hotels in busy Philippines. Would definitely stay here again as other hotels in the area were full of old American men with young girls. This hotel is very clean and quiet.

From the moment we arrived and had to get out of car to remove sign board while staff watched us I thought this is ominous. Had booking with agoda which was according to staff mixed up so we ended up in a small cubby hole window less room which was very unsuitable. No wi fi. No hot water just semi warm. My opinion, this hotel is highly over rated and far better options available in Dumaguete. Parking is next to impossible an no guard on duty during day.

It's just right in front of the public market and going to the usual restos is only a mere 10-minute walk. If you don't want to walk, getting anywhere within Dumaguete City (except the airport) is just PHP 10! The bed was very comfortable with its white duvet linens. The room was spacious for a solo room and complete with water, towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, lotion, sewing kit, and kettle for hot water. You can just request for a hair dryer if needed. The down side of the room is that the bathroom can have a weird smell - - something that I read about in previous reviews. It can be overcome though with may be some spray. There was also one pointy fly that got inside the room. Good thing I got to kill it. As a heavy sleeper, the thin walls didn't bother me. It might be for others. Breakfast was served buffet style with scrambled egg, adobo, maling, Italian pasta, porridge and some bread. Coffee, tea, and juice were available. The receptionists were warm and very helpful. Would stay here again.
