The general quality oh hotels here in this price range is poor to average. There is nothing bout the facilities here to rave about but the position is good, the cafe produces a decent brewed coffee and more importantly the staff are so pleasant and helpful, the experience they give keeps me coming back here. The decor and general presentation is dated and pretty dowdy but it's clean and reliable. The major disadvantage is that there are no refrigerators in the rooms. The lack of room facilities seems to be a consistent feature of Filipino hotels at this price level.

We are regulars at hotel palwa. At around 1200 peso a night it represents a good value. You get an air conditioned room, bed and shower. Basic soap and towel. Anything else you need to supply yourself. It is centrally located and easy walking distance to the boulevard. I'm sure there are plenty of other hotel options in Dumaguete, but for the price I find this place quite acceptable. The staff are helpful and friendly. Noise has never been a problem.

The Palwa is located near the center of Dumaguete, a nice little town with a pleasant seafront boulevard. The room was small, but clean and comfortable and the staff pleasant and helpful. It is a basic hotel, similar to many I found in the Philippines, but it did have a nicer atmosphere about it.

A tip for travelers on the run like me - there is a laundry service one street west and about 50m south that did my laundry in 4 hours. All the other laundries I found wanted until 6pm the following day.

For a short stay, I would be satisfied to stay here again.

Had to get up in the middle of the night and move to another room, 1 the noise 2 the A/C was not working correctly, but they would put in a fan HA HA with temperture around 33 C. All I could get out to the them was SORRY.. that didn't really help the bad night.

Centrally located, within walking distance of shops, malls, restaurants, city landmarks & the waterfront was great value for the price.

Rooms were clean & comfortable with WiFi, aircon, cable TV & warm water. Staff were friendly, helpful & courteous.

Breakfast was adequate.

A buy hotel, probably because of price & standard,

My wife and I stayed here late October 2011 for 4 nights in their standard double room (Php 850-950.00). It is located a couple of minutes away from Rizal Blvd.; you can walk it but I recommend taking a tricycle cab instead (only Php 8.00/person). There are nearby restaurants/fast food chains within 5 minutes walk - Mang Inasal, Mcdonald's, Jollibee. The room is small but you get a built in cabinet to put your baggage and hang your clothes, mostly the bed occupies a large area of the room but you still have space to walk around. You also get an LCD flat screen TV (I think its 24 inches) with cable and the reception is good. The bathroom is large enough and the shower has good water pressure and the heater works as well. The air conditioning is silent and get the room cold fast. 2 Out of the 4 nights we stayed there we were in the Double Deluxe room then went to the Standard Double Room; the price difference was only Php 50.00 and the only difference is the bathroom tiles changed from "bamboo-like" brown tiles to your regular blue tiles and the heater was now only connected to the shower whereas in the deluxe it was a multi-point heater. Aside from the bathroom changes everything in the room and its size were the same. So if you want to save Php 50.00 get the standard room instead. Their free breakfast gives you the same choices everyday: ham and eggs - you can eat it at your room with Php 11-16.00 additional charge or take it in their canteen at the 5th floor. Its not much but is highly appreciated you at least get something to munch on while taking your coffee. The staff are very accommodating and answers your questions/concerns with a smile. I highly recommend this hotel for budget travelers!

I always stay at Palwa when in Dumaguete, and have reviewd before, howevr they have now finished their extensive renovation, adding two floors to the hotel. This place is now even better than before, particularly the brand new 5th and 6th floors, new bathrooms and flooring complement the tasteful remodel, highly recommended at 999php for double including breakfast

A good value for a family room for only 1,500 pesos! There are 1 double bed, & 2 single beds, clean & cozy, good view, comes with a nice Samsung flat screen TV, good air-conditioning & a small fridge and a spacious bathroom! Inclusive of breakfast also. Currently they are renovating the lobby.. their location also is pretty accessible to the commercial areas, market & Silliman University. I would definitely recommend Hotel Palwa for families, couples & friends who would love to explore the simple beauty of Dumaguete City.

Overpriced and expensive food and drinks in a very small kitchen!! They even had the nerve to charge me for 2 extra pillows (50 pesos a night).... Even Motel 6 in the States would never do that!! Wi-Fi signal also very weak!!

Also charged me for electricity to keep my very small box of food I brought back from a restaurant in their refrigerator for one night!!

BEWARE.... DO NOT STAY THERE!!! They are ONLY after every $$$ they can get out-of-you!!
