Detailed Reviews
The resort is generally tastefully setup i.e the location, architecture and rooms are well done. The staff are very pleasant, professional and so helpful.
My husband and I stayed there over valentines weekend. The room was a large suite that had a fireplace and it was enjoyable. Clean linen. Sufficient towels. The place was very cold but the hotel tried ensuring we were warm; provided hot water bottles, warm duvets and lit our fire.
However for such a well done resort the food is a huge disappointment. The menu items are well selected but the food lacks in flavour greatly. There was over use of parsley (dania) in everything even in salads where it had no business being. The salads were overdressed. E.g the coleslaw on 14th had too much lemon juice making it too tart.
The beef stew was colourful but grossly bland. The meat was super tough and flavourless. You could barely taste an ingredient. Again it was sprinkled with a generous amount of parsley. The pastries for dessert were dry and imbalanced in flavor (too much of this or that).
We had two dinners, two lunches and two breakfasts and all of them were poor in flavour. The french toast on 16th was seasoned with dried herbs and too much salt and needless to say was horrible to eat.
The hotel needs to invest in a really good chef who can assist with restructuring the recipes used to cook the various items.
Finally, considering the location of the hotel and the weather in the area, there is a high likelihood of not swimming, I suggest the hotel considers a shaded heated pool to allow patrons enjoy the pool.

Guess it was our lucky night or it was meant to be, we were originally planning to do our stopover at The Parade Resort but our "confirmed booking" was booked wrongly and rates given for our family room were wrong and we had to leave.. Tired us with our babies but that led us to our perfect hotel.
Tafaria was perfect from the time we stepped into the property.. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The ambience of the place made one just relax and take a step back from all the day's activities.
The staff were just exemptional...check in was quick and since dinner was already on, my husband proceeded with the check in as we headed to the restaurant.
The waiters were accomodating and ensured we even got food for our 8 month old baby. All hot and kept it so till when we were leaving for our rooms.
Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and wasn't a surprise that we slept the whole night through.
Breakfast had a nice selection and appreciated the leaders and waiters who kept asking how we were doing, and on hearing of our journey with kids, gave us a "care park" of snacks for them wrapped up beautifully in foil paper and fashioned into a duck.
We didn't get to enjoy the play grounds and the pool but a must visit place again when in Kenya for the whole family for a longer period of time.

This resort is a dreamland for families with children. The place is very well maintained. The gardens are clean and manicured. They have various activities for children and grown-ups like 🏹 archery, mini golf ⛳️, swimming pool 🏊♀️, board games ♟, reading 📖 room, a large piano 🎹, horse 🐎 riding, chariot riding. The museum and the Centre for arts 🎭 is an amazing place, within the property, which is huge. Beautiful flowers 🌺 all around, cool mountain ⛰ breeze blowing, birds singing in the bushes and trees - ah ! Heavenly.
We stayed in the Lord’s Private court, the room was big, bed was clean and comfortable. The room service is very good and prompt, as well as the housekeeping. They regularly sanitize the door knobs, and vacuum clean the floors. The bathroom was big and nice.
Food was awesome 👏🏻. Overall, our two nights stay passed away like a dream. My son didn’t want to leave. I will surely bring our family here again.

I have literally just checked into this hotel and I already know that I won’t be coming back. After driving 3 hours to get here, after nightfall and in the rain, the hotel receptionist, Terry, informs me that my room is no longer available because her colleague Bernice have erroneously given it to someone else with a similar first name to mine. No apology, no effort to correct the situation & give me what I requested for. Just an expectation that I will understand this error has occurred. I have ended up in a double room yet I had specifically requested for a twin room. As a result, we have been forced to share a bed. In addition, I was promised that the fireplace would be lit as soon as we checked in but this was apparently a false promise. Terrible customer experience.

So after all the hype we decided to try out a new getaway to Tafaria Castle with family and we were not disappointed. From advance booking to departure, the team led by Ms. Winnie were brilliant.
The food is average but palatable, our waiter during the stay Mr. Josiah Izaka was very accommodating and ensuring our table was always attended to.
I would recommend that they give options of soda or fresh juice as many people don't like soda especially the adults.
The rooms were good and providing hot water bottles a plus .
Lots of activities for the whole family

My family and I stayed here and we enjoyed the family atmosphere and dedicated service. The meals were good with necessary flexibility for children's tastes. What inspired us most was the history and vision that was apparent in so many aspects of the property from the pageantry of its architecture to the various pieces of art by the resident artists. The attention to detail and the personal touches in the Castle's story truly did make you feel that you were seeing the property through the eyes of the young man described in the quote on the plaque in the forecourt whose dream this was . Clean and warm rooms , a diligent approach to the covid health protocols , well manicured lawns and a range of outdoor activities all set against the spectacular backdrop of the Nyandarua ranges made for a memorable visit.

Enjoyed the weekend away with the family. The place is nice, with well manicured lawns and plenty of outdoor activities at a very fair price. The food was amazing and a special shoutout to Josiah who went out of his way to make sure we were served well at the restaurant.
Another thing that works in its favor is its close proximity (about 2 hours away) from three national parks and reserves - namely Mt. Kenya National Park,Abadare National Park and Ol Pajeta Conservancy.
Would recommend it for anyone looking to avoid traditional beach holidays at the coast.

Tafaria Castle is a short drive from Nairobi, approx 4 hours. It has an old world charm to it, with buildings in the shapes of castles and themed around this throughout. There are various activities available, including swimming, rest all chargeable including mini golf, horse riding, pool table etc. Exploring the place can take quite a bit oftime, as there are wonderful art pieces strewn all over with some info about them. Generally a good place to visit, though some areas were not too clean especially around the swimming pool.

hey betty .... it depends on the kind of room you pick ... a single goes for 9900 and the double rooms range from 15 to 25k a night .... that was the rate we got last time I was there.
between 250 ( horse riding ) and 500 to 1000 for the chariot ride .... its about 7km from the main road
