Location is perfect, close to wolf viewing, close to Moose spots and not from from Silvergate. Mountain views are nice and small creek with nice trail. The host also helpful and nice. The line starts to form early to get a spot as it filled up by 8AM. A fox took a hotdog bun from the person table next to my site.

Pebble Creek was our favorite campground in Yellowstone National Park. A less crowded area of the park, probably why we loved it! 27 sites and all are available first come first serve - no reservations! The location and lack of reservations make this a quiet, peaceful campground. It sits at 6900 feet elevation. All sites have a table, fire ring, and food storage locker - it is bear country! There are vault toilets and seasonally there is potable drinking water. Our first night there we stayed in one of the "pull out sites" on the west side of the campground. It was ok, however they are not true pull outs, you just park on the side of the park road.... not bad considering the low use of this campground. On our second night we scored a spot on the east side right across from Pebble Creek.... it was perfect! We enjoyed drinks in our chairs at the creekside and a beautiful night listening to the peaceful sounds of the creek. It appears they have changed the site numbers since we visited to add some tent sites, so do not pay attention to the site markers in our old nostalgic photos!

We camped in Pebble Creek for three nights in August 2019. It is a more primitive campground than the big ones in the park - no hookups - but water pumps and outdoor toilets - what more do you need? There was a large herd of bison that migrated close on several occasions, a red fox who stopped by, and the usual collection of birds. Our site was shaded and it was quiet every night. You have to drive some distance to get to some of the more popular geothermal sites, but you are right on the edge of the Lamar Valley, which is (in some people's minds) the biggest attraction in the park - it is full of wildlife, if you just take the time to stop and watch for a while. Highly recommend this campground.

So, this is a first come, first serve situation, but if you get a spot, you’ll be very lucky and very happy. We arrived at 6am and waited for the hosts to come out and tell us if we were going to get a spot. They know who is checking out, as they run this place like a well oiled machine. Once they confirmed which spots were opening up, we hung out (very quietly, and they are kind of insistent on this point) until the people left at 10ish....the sites are nice, and our 27 ft airstream fit in one very well. There was a beautiful creek nearby, and they even let you gather sticks for fires. From this location, we were able to go each morning to watch the wolves just a few miles away. It was amazing! The bathroom facilities are “eh” just pit toilets, but very clean ones. No showers or sinks. We didn’t mind because we have all the facilities in the trailer. I’d absolutely try to get a spot here again!

A great base camp for exploring the Lamar Valley. Sounds of the creek, great camp hosts, very clean. We stay there a couple of times a year. And close to Cook City for a great burger and beer when you want a break from campfire cooking. Love it here!
