I think it’s important to begin by saying that I read the negative reviews on Google and TripAdvisor that have plagued the Hilton Netherland over the last month. I always take that into consideration but also know some people can be negative or overly picky, so I wanted to give it a try myself. You can check my other reviews over the years, I don’t only get online to be a keyboard warrior when I have a bad experience. Most of my reviews are 5 stars. Pretty much everything you are reading about this hotel is true. Whether it is the interesting attitude of the front desk staff, rooms with bugs, air vents that haven’t been cleaned since the hotel was built in the 1930s (in jest, but certainly not cleaned in the last year), sinks that have large cracks in them or barely drain, and we also had someone’s used plastic and melted ice water in the ice bucket. This certainly isn’t worth the nightly fee. Being a Diamond member and traveling often, using Hilton and Marriott, I can tell you there are literally tons of better options at this price. This hotel is what I would find in a $98 a night, 2 star hotel. Obviously they stay around because of the history and lore of the place. The decor is very nice in the parts the public sees. I’m sure it makes a ton of money on weddings and other events. But they certainly don’t put that back into the actual rooms. Not on maintenance, not on vent cleaning, not on pest control, etc. Lastly, I think for those of you who are Hilton Diamond members, we really need to think about what being Diamond means. I was told by the front desk, there were no upgrades and the hotel was sold out, which it was not. I’m not sure if they (Hilton corporate or management) don’t realize that you can go online and determine if a hotel is sold out and some will actually tell you how many rooms are available and which types of rooms they are. I’m assuming a lot of this is up to the person checking you in and I think most of them take pride in not upgrading you. And I’m sure some would like to be slipped a $20 - $50. So Hilton needs to figure this out before some of us just leave Hilton altogether. This is happening more and more at nearly all the Hiltons I stay with. And some of the hotels are now sending you emails after you book asking if you want to pay for an upgrade… No, I don’t want to pay for an upgrade, that’s the point of being Diamond, is to get a complementary upgrade. So, yes, these aren’t isolated events. Every negative thing you are reading is true. I think what makes it even worse is the fact that we know there are at least three people with Hilton reading this… a manager, an area manager, and hopefully a senior quality control person and their attitude must be ‘ah, who cares, we are historic, people will still come.’ Otherwise, why would there be the same little issues for over 4-6 weeks and people are still experiencing the same things? Don’t bother trying to use the message feature on the app with this hotel. I messaged them 72 hours ago and still no response. This is the only Hilton that didn’t answer within 30 minutes. Don’t rely on the hotel website either. The restaurant times are incorrect. In-room dining? It says there is on the website and the Hilton app, but there is no menu in the room and you can expect no one to answer the phone when you hot the ‘Room Service’ button. Tried it, many times. Save yourself the frustration and stay somewhere else.

Stayed at the Hilton a couple of weeks ago and had an amazing experience! We had a very rough day of travel and Monique who greeted us at the front desk and checked us into our room helped turn our day from a really bad one to a good one. Her dinner recommendations were spot on and just her knowledge of the hotel and the city were incredible. Room was clean, was a nice sized room, and had a great view! Hotel was close to so much in the area! We had breakfast at the restaurant the next morning and while not buffet giving the times it was very good. The overall beauty of the hotel was phenomenal and that every single staff member of the hotel was so approachable and helpful ensures we will stay again! Only suggestion would be to have better signage for the parking garage that is for the Hilton.

We were at the hotel for a wedding, and booked outside the room block to take advantage of our Hilton status-from the very check in it was an unorgainized mess. The front desk has no idea what's going on, hotel valet was full, on the 28th floor our AC was not working, the room had debris (used kleenex's and q-tips from previous guests). Now- the ballroom where the wedding was located was beautiful, and the event was very well run and planned...but the physical hotel just is so run down and the employees don't seem to have an agency to help or do anything. Our stay was $380 plus taxes and fees to have our room temp reach 83 at night? Never again.

I've stayed here for the last 8 or 9 years. Front staff and bar staff are very good at their job. Unfortunately, the hotel needs a big makeover to keep the rates they are charging. I had a King Suite. The furniture was nice, but the cleanliness of the room was terrible. Cobwebs above the window treatments. Walls have too many coats of paint. Closets need to be updated. Bathroom plumbing fixtures were dated and falling apart. Room 2738. Windows and plaster need attention. And my friends rooms were twice as bad with failing plaster above the windows.

Disappointed in this Hilton Hotel. Being a gold card member have stayed in many Hilton’ s in the US and in Athens Greece. Check in took more than an one hour wait. Cincinnati Reds game day and there were only 2 check-in personnel. Spent time in the Palm Court Bar…five stars to Ryan who was our bartender. Room 2311… great view, very clean, however, during the night air conditioner leaked resulting in wet carpeting. Woke up to wet carpeting Reported to front desk air conditioner leak @ 8 am and asked to Discuss with general manager and was told she would be in at 12 noon …. she kept us waiting until 12:45 to discuss room condition. Her first question was why we didn’t report earlier. No apologies. Did give 1/3 of cost credit and We canceled room for day 2.

There is no way this is a 4 star hotel. It’s old, run down and poorly maintained. We had 2 connecting rooms for a one night stay. The rooms smelled musty and dank. The carpet was old and stained. The linens were thin and rough. The bedsheets felt like sand paper. The AC in one of the rooms could not be adjusted and the room was cold. The greatest insult may have been that the showers in both rooms only delivered at most lukewarm water despite being able to get hot water from the bathroom sink. The only worse hotel I’ve ever been in was a $20/ night econo lodge. Unfortunately I happened to catch a glimpse behind the bedside stand and noted mounds of dust. We paid over $300 per room expecting at least a decent bed and hot showers and Hilton couldn’t even manage that. It will be a good while before I ever give Hilton another chance.

The hotel is neat in that it is an old hotel, but it also needs a lot of help because it is an old hotel. The staff at check-in were super friendly and efficient. The room was ok. It had a musty old man smell but otherwise was clean. The tub/shower had a spongey floor. I was worried that I was going to fall through to the next floor. Self parking was kind of expensive but the hotel is central to the ball fields, the fountain and several good restaurants, so you can park it and walk.

The front desk employees were the worst hospitality pros I've ever dealt with. We had a number of problems with the room, some of which were uncomfortable, some of which were dangerous. First I messaged them via the Hilton Honors app - no response. Then I called the front desk, let it ring 20-30 times - no response. We went downstairs to the desk and they called housekeeping and engineering to fix our problems. One front desk employee shrugged nonchalantly and said that the messaging app does not work. Housekeeping and engineering were very supportive. Engineer told us that they would need to close our room for repairs but that he knew of another open room that he had just repaired and that just needed to be vacuumed. He called the front desk to request a room change for us and they told him the hotel was full. He let them know he was done repairing the second room and that he was going to clean it up himself. He then helped us move all our stuff upstairs. I went down to ask the desk if they could give us a break on our bill due to the problems. They replied that because we used points to pay part of the bill there was nothing they could do to help us. No apologies, no acknowledgment that they dropped the ball. When I turned our key cards in this morning at checkout the employee behind the desk didn't say a word to me, not even "Thank you." I let the desk employees know that I would never stay at this hotel again due to their callous treatment of travelers just needing a comfortable place to sleep after a long trip. I don't believe it moved them in the least. It's a shame because it has a beautiful lobby and attached restaurant with an outstanding breakfast (excellent wait staff). If you choose to stay here you might want to prepare yourself for some from front desk foolishness.

Staff from the valets, desk staff and to restaurant staff was very friendly and we enjoyed the trip. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Bathroom fixtures are classic and were well-maintained and clean. Hotel was very quiet and comfortable walking distance to Great American Ballpark and Paycor Stadium.

It is a beautiful old hotel. The staff is friendly but this place is old! No sign for drop off luggage on the street. We used a parking garage and then walked over. The lobby is full of stairs. With no real direction for how to find the actual lobby. Many others were lost and confused too. Check in was easy and very busy. Once we got to our floor, the hallway was very clean but looks like the Shinning..... We had a king size bed, the room is very small. The refrigerator was warm, an almost empty roll of toilet paper and no extra in sight! The wifi wouldn't connect. Finally had to call down for toilet paper and about the wifi connection. The bathroom is TINY!! The wifi is extremely slow. We've been to Cincinnati before. Probably won't stay here again. Kind of a disappointment.
