The Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort is a favorite for its prime location, offering travelers easy access to Waikiki's attractions and beaches, complemented by beautiful oceanfront views. Guests love the lively Hawaiian atmosphere, complete with nightly live music and cultural activities. While the rooms are celebrated for being spacious, modern, and exceptionally clean, some guests suggest adding in-room microwaves and note occasional noise.
The Voyager 47 Club and Outrigger Platinum Membership are popular for adding value, though there are mentions of the breakfast options being somewhat limited. Hospitality at the resort is top-notch, with staff members earning accolades for their friendly and professional service.

Our stay in Outrigger Reef Waikiki was made extra special by their very supportive staff. From the reception, concierge, housekeeping, tours and restaurants, they gave us superb service. We thank Kylie - guest relations. She really went an extra mile in helping us out. Likewise, we appreciate the warmth of Mary, our room keeper who made sure that she supplied all our toiletry needs. Surely, we will choose Outrigger Reef in our next family trip to Hawaii.

The only reason this is not a five star review is because of the first floor renovation going on. But even while we were there, they widened the hallway and put extra elevators into service. The finished lobby will be lovely. The rooms were renovated very well. We had a room on the 17th floor of the Pacific tower. Great views out 9f our views of the ocean. Yes one side of the building looked out at another building, but we understand that space is at a premium. We enjoyed our in-room time as much as our time out and about. We received a room refresh everyday that included fresh towels, bed made and floors vacuumed.
Pool got crowded sometimes, but no reservations were needed and it was still a nice space. Live music was played in the evening and the restaurant food and drinks were also very good. Staff was above and beyond friendly. Didn't speak to the conceigiere at all because the bell hops were excellent at helping us navigate around. They guided us to taxis or walking paths. They even traced routes out on maps for us.
The man-made beach is small, but right outside the hotel so easy to get to. There are two restaurants located out there and during the day you can rent chairs. We picked up towels from the hotel pool area each day to take out there.
We also discovered that most of the restaurants in a 2-3 block walking distance were excellent. It was so nice to have so many good meals.

My husband & I have stayed here twice and both times were awesome. The restaurant/bar is right on the beach. The check-in staff welcomed us with a beverage and hot moist towel to get us feeling refreshed after our long day of travel. That was a nice touch. We stayed in an oceanfront room which we love since it is right on the beach, unlike the other rooms which are set back and don't offer unobstructed views of the beach. (They're still nice rooms.)

We stayed for 2 nights in oceanfront rooms after a 7 day cruise. They let us check into one of our rooms early, so we could store our bags. We had 3 rooms on one floor -2 in corners(one facing Diamondhead, and one facing the other direction). The Voyager 47 package was nice, with very good brewed coffee, lattes/ cappuccinos etc, and a varied set of breakfast food options. For happy hour, there were beer, wine, and cocktail options plus heavy appetizers. Good views at sunset.
For beach- needed to rent chairs as apparently the beach is public access and hotels don’t have their own beach space.
Nice stay.

This is a difficult review to write. Many of the problems I will mention are likely to be resolved soon as they pertain to the ongoing renovations of the property. That said, I think they deserve mention as they may relate to how guests are treated.
When we booked the hotel, we were made aware that the hotel was being renovated. However, upon arrival we felt that we were misled about the extent of the renovations and what would be available on property. The largest issue was that we were told that there would be two restaurants open, and one would be the better on property restaurant. This facility was closed. Other things were broken or out of service like the soda vending machines (broken but no “out of order” sign posted).
The room was large and well maintained but not quite comfortable. It was the size of two rooms in some hotels I’ve visited but the space was empty. There was no chair for the small desk. There were no dressers or drawers to put clothes away.
The pool was nice but the area around it small. Chairs filled up by mid-morning. There was really no beach area to speak of.
The one restaurant that was open had a very limited menu and the food was not very good. To be fair the service was good.
The service in the hotel was mostly good. The employees were friendly and tried to be helpful. This wasn’t always a good thing. The cleaning person was always right outside our door waiting to clean the room. I know she meant to be helpful, but we felt rushed. The concierge didn’t seem to have a lot of local knowledge and would suggest we do things we weren’t interested in instead of answering our questions.

I chose this hotel because of the location on the beach, price, and availability. At check in they serve you a small glass of juice. The workers are friendly and courteous. We got a free upgrade to an Ocean View. The room had a balcony and overlooked a courtyard with a pool, and to the right was the beach. It is a narrow beach during high tide, but that did not bother us. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a free shuttle (trolley). It does not stop at the hotel, but at the Trump Hotel around the corner. It makes a short loop to a beach and the largest mall in Hawaii, and then a large loop to the beach, zoo, and Diamond Head. It stops at Diamond Head every 75 minutes so if you miss the bus you have to wait for more than an hour or get a taxi. The shuttle driver kept up a commentary on the sights along the way. If it is your last day, you can check out, leave your luggage with the bell hops, and keep your keys to get on the shuttle. The shuttle can save you a lot of money and the service is very greatly appreciated. The room price was mid range considering the location, but then does add on a resort fee. You might be able to get a discount with AAA or some other groups.

Our holiday in Honolulu was simply amazing! As someone who is more of a relax around the hotel and go out for short amounts of time, I wanted to stay somewhere with wonderful service and amenities. My husband and I were NOT disappointed. The pool and spa were magical, our room was spotless, the location was perfect and to top it off, each morning he could go down to the lobby to buy me a morning coffee from Starbucks. It was perfect! We even went to stay somewhere else and couldn’t stand the disappointment, so on the very same day that we had arrived at another resort, we were able to turn around and come right back. Our welcome was just as wonderful as when we had first arrived and we finished our holiday blissfully.

We booked our Wedding/honeymoon trip in Hawaii and were very excited to stay at the Outrigger Reef. Our first bad experience started when we arrived - construction zone. everything was boarded up and it was very loud. We booked a partial ocean view room and got to look at the hotel next to ours - wonderful. We're especially displeased with the $35 ($40 after tax) resort fee which does not give you anything. The gym was closed, the spa was closed, no activities, except music at the restaurant which is overpriced with no discounts for hotel guests. The pool had to be reserved for one hour slots and only 20 people could be in the water at a time. Our room was skipped for room service, and when we confronted the front desk they asked "have you scheduled your room service". This is absolutely absurd, as I have stayed in resorts and hotels all over the world and have never heard of having to schedule room service. It's very disappointing to come home after a day at the beach and not have clean towels, the trash cans full, and no new soap.
We also indicated that this was our honeymoon trip and the website stated that there would be a bottle of champagne for the freshly married couple - none of that of course. I would really appreciate a response from the management. I am usually not one to write poor reviews, but this hotel should not be open until they figure everything out.

Located at the northwest end of Waikiki is this gem of a resort! The resort location is what I would call the "bookend" of central Waikiki. It is close to the action, but far enough away that it isn't crowded. Three streets lead to this resort, and on all of them, (Saratoga, Beach Walk, Lewers), there are restaurants and ABC Stores, as well as Waikiki favorite, Henry's Place.
The resort was excellent, starting with the Front Desk staff. Very welcoming and informative. We were lucky enough to get a room upgrade to partial ocean view, with a small balcony. The room was very modern in design, yet it did lack a proper dresser. The closet is on the small side, but the two-queens room did not feel crowded. Housekeeping kept us well supplied.
The pool area is very nice. There are cabanas and specialty lounge-sofas for rent. The general seating for the pool fills up by 11:30 a.m. Servers make the rounds for lunch and drinks from the Kani Ka Pila Grille. The towel kiosk offers free sunscreen, there are clean restrooms, and a water bottle refilling station.
The resort is currently going under a large makeover, so expect some construction noise while you are out by the pool.
We dined twice at the Kani Ka Pila Grille. Both occasions I ordered the Local Boy Burger. It is that good! There was enough variety on the menu, but both nights that we dined there, I was in a burger mood. There is nightly live Hawaiian music here, and the magical sounds echo throughout the hotel grounds and pool area. We enjoyed the music every night from our balcony.
The beach area in front of the resort is very, very small, but Fort Derussy Beach Park is right next door, and it is the widest plot of sand in all of Waikiki.
The Parking Valets were also very good. I like how they would inquire where I was going, and give me tips and advice, especially on where to eat. They worked fast and were very friendly.
We were also able to get a pass key for the fitness center at the Embassy Suites across the street, since the fitness center at Outrigger Reef is currently under a remodel.

I loved loved loved this hotel.
All the staff were welcoming - especially my check in agent Ambrose. He was wonderful! I can not stand false niceties and he came across really genuine. I could not fault his service, it was exceptional. Check in was great and I appreciated Ambrose taking the extra time to link my two reservations (I added an extra night) to ensure I would not have to change rooms.
The room was bigger than I was expecting, very clean and comfortable. The only things that can be improved: the robes and towels are tiny. I’m averaged size and could not wrap around me. The pool/beach ones would be a better size. And when people come and go the doors slam. Next time the hotel is renovated (it’s not needing to be) investing in soft close doors would remove that irritant. Also happy hour by the pool advertised more, I would’ve spent more money if I’d realised!
The pool area and hot tub were clean and inviting. I loved spending time down there and it was easy getting towels etc. all the pool bar/service attendants were great and make one hell of a cocktail. I loved that they were attentive but not pushy - makes a world of difference!
Housekeeping were wonderful, everything was replenished daily and all traces of sand removed.
The most important things to me when travelling is feeling secure - needing a key card for lift met that, and the area around the hotel was nice. Staff being genuine, which they were, and hotel cleanliness. All of these the outrigger smashed.
This was my first visit to Outrigger, but I doubt will be my last as they have set a high bar. I can not wait to return, and when I do come back to Waikiki I look forward to another stay here.
