Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach earns praise for its warm staff and a variety of amenities, including a complimentary breakfast that guests enjoy. It's situated ideally for beachgoers and those eager to explore local attractions, though the bustling location contributes to noise issues that can detract from the comfort of the spacious and clean rooms.
While the hotel atmosphere and facilities like the pool receive mixed feedback, concerns about additional fees and parking charges have led some guests to question the overall value of their stay.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favorite
We stayed at this property for the first 4 nights of our trip to Hawaii and we can honestly say we preferred this over our 3 nights at the Royal Hawaiian hotel.
Location is excellent. It was a short walk to the beach, under 5 minutes. While walking to the beach you will pass an ABC store where you can buy your snacks and drinks for the day. It is the same distance to get to the main strip of Waikiki, where you will find all of the restaurants and shopping - we walked there and back every evening with no issues. There is Dominoes on site and there is also a Denny's 1 block away by the Honolulu Zoo. We noticed a small farmer's market on Sunday morning about a block away from this hotel - near the Denny's and Honolulu Zoo. There are also food trucks open each evening directly beside this hotel.
You get a $5 per day credit included in the destination fee - if you don't use it , you lose it so we stopped and grabbed drinks for our room each evening when passing by. There is a full bar in the lobby and there is also a microwave with disposable plates and utensils in case you want to heat up any food.
The hotel offers beach chairs & beach towels you can pick up daily in the lobby - this is a huge savings compared with other hotels on Waikiki that are charging as high as $100 per day for lounge chairs on the beach.
Fitness room was being renovated during our stay. Laundry is also available on 3rd floor $4 each for washer and dryer.
Breakfast daily on the 3rd floor. We thought the breakfast was excellent. Eggs, rotating protein, and baked goods such as waffles, banana bread were available in addition to cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, granola, bagels etc. Coffee & tea was excellent and it's provided free in both the breakfast area and the lobby. They also provide 2 reusable water bottles and there are refill stations in a few locations in the hotel.
The room was spacious, comfortable and pristine. We were on 7th floor with partial ocean view, the balcony was a good size and we enjoyed sitting outside with coffee each morning. The bed was comfortable, good quality linens and towels. The room also had a large desk, a fridge, a sofa bed, and lots of storage. Bathroom & shower was a fair size & everything was in good condition. Toiletries provided were nice quality.
The elevator was a bit slow but we often took the stairs down to 3rd floor during the busy breakfast hour.
We did not use the pool but the pool area was nice.
Staff was friendly and accommodating, the front desk & bell staff were pleasant & helpful each day.
Public parking is available just across the street at Waikiki Banyan for $35/ day.
We are Explorist level with Hyatt and we were offered 2PM check out for no additional charge - vastly different from the other property where we stayed which charged $150 for late checkout.
After checking out we responded to a Hyatt survey and the general manager sent us a personal reply, non-automated. I was very pleased with the quality & level of service provided at this hotel & look forward to future stays here & exploring the Hyatt Place brand further.

We are a family of 4 and we had an amazing time in Hawaii thanks to our stay at the Hyatt Place! Check-in and out was so smooth and easy! We received a complementary upgrade upon arrival for one of our rooms! Staff at the desk were so helpful all the time and answered all of our questions. The Breakfast was really good and they had so many options. Staff serving breakfast were running around keeping the place clean and full with food! The hotel was extremely clean thanks to their nice housekeeping amazing staff. Both our rooms were on the second and sixth floors, and housekeeping staff were kind and professional especially Adelma who worked on the sixth floor and always took care of our room! Location wise the hotel is just perfect! Very close to the beach, restaurants, and a parking garage (if you are renting a car). We enjoyed the location because it was an easy in and out everyday. Their food is also really good and we order a few times from the hotel kitchen and we were really impressed with how good the food was! I really cannot think of any cons from our stay at this place. Everything we needed and wanted was put in place for us. All the staff went on and beyond and what we loved the most was how cheerful everyone at the hotel was. Not sure when we will be returning back to Hawaii but if we ever do it will be at the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach!

We had only a one night stay at this hotel prior to moving to a one bedroom condo nearby.
The girls at the front desk were a delight and were most helpful when we needed them.
We booked a king oceanview room with a balcony. Balcony was super small but we did have distant ocean views.
The king bed was comfortable and whilst the room was on the small side it was quite adequate. It is was also dated but was very functional.
Breakfast was included but there are not many hot dish options. The breakfast hot dishes were only scrambled eggs, sausages, potato dish and pancakes.
Whilst there is not a lot the hotel can do the birds are a real nuisance and swoop on your leftovers of food once you leave. Breakfast is mostly outdoor so can be a concern in bad weather. We experienced a very windy morning so food was getting blown around.
Location is really good and it’s not far from most places along the Waikiki strip. We regularly walked from the hotel to places of interest.
We found a great food truck selling empanadas in the side street to the hotel where there are other food trucks as well.
The hotel is a reasonable option but the lobby could be made more inviting and the rooms require some updating.

I travel A LOT all over the world and have stayed in some of the nicest hotels most would ever stay. And I must say, I was VERY pleased with our decision to stay here at the Hyatt Place. The location was near all of the shops and restaurants and Waikiki Beach. It appeared a little sketchy with a few homeless people, but even they were friendly! I never felt unsafe. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and provided EXCEPTIONAL service. They had processes in place for bag breakfast served by staff and also gloves for self-service coffee station. Masks were mandatory in the lobby and they provided one if needed. I was initially hesitant to choose the Hyatt Place as I usually stay in higher end hotels for vacations like this. However, I am very glad we decided to save a few dollars on hotel to put that money into other experiences. I did not feel as though I was staying anywhere different from a higher-rated accommodation. The service was definitely A-1! I am Explorer status with Hyatt, but I truly do not feel service would have been any less otherwise... Stay here! You will NOT be disappointed!

We had stayed at three hotels during our extended stay in Honolulu with this hotel being a three star hotel compared to our 4 and 5 star hotel stays. The Hyatt Place is about a block off Waikiki Beach with no views except maybe on the top floor. The complimentary breakfast consisted of a Jimmy Dean meat and cheese sandwich, an orange, yoghurt, coffee and orange juice. We rented a car and there was only a valet option for $39 per night. A room was only serviced every third night but additional towels can be requested.
The 2 queen bed room with a sleeper sofa was spacious. The bed and pillows were really comfortable.
Good restaurants were within easy walking distance with most being less than a mile away.
If someone wanted a reasonably priced no frills hotel in Waikiki, I would recommend this hotel. The toiletries were less than ideal though.

Considering the destination it was a reasonably priced room. Staff was helpful, but being spring break sometimes you had to wait a bit to be served. In easy walking distance to the beach, and a variety of beach options, one can take part in the calm waters created by a sea wall and bring the kiddos who can't swim too well, or one can amp it up a little on the opposite side of the wall and use a boogie board, or for a longer stroll down the sidewalk you can surf the waves. There is some snorkeling nearby, but be careful as it is a shallow area where you see the most fish congregated. There is "The Bus" that runs right by the hotel which is very reliable and the bus stop is jut beyond the hotel. One can walk or take the bus just a about a mile up and visit Lenard's Bakery, and Baily's store with tons of Hawaiian shirts, this same area has a market and what appears to be cheaper more affordable local eats. So the Hyatt place is a good location, also right there is a scooter rental place, which I recommend you reserve online and show up 10-15 minutes before they open so you avoid the rush of the rest of the public. My room itself, a little on the small side, I am used to seeing bigger rooms in the Hyatts I have been to. Things were kept clean. Staff helped me out on several occasions starting at check in when I struggled with the Hawaiian government website the clerk helped me access it. Considering the pandemic, the breakfast was fine. I had stuff left over that filled the refrigerator that I never got around to eating. I will add that the gift shops in the hotel the prices seemed on par with other stores in the area, and for some items even cheaper, I would recommend checking them out, this way you don't have to carry your purchases too far.

Firstly, this hotel is in a great location - close enough to walk to the shops and restaurants along Waikiki but far enough to be out of the noise; 1 block away from the beach where there is a walled off section, great for families with young kids.
The hotel staff were very accommodative when our flight was delayed 15 hours, providing us with a late checkout so our 18 month old daughter could have her sleep and also a room for 30minutes prior to our taxi to freshen up - all free of charge!
Room was big and very clean. All the staff were also very very friendly and helpful.
Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed here twice. The first stay we had a deluxe king mountain view room. The room was nice but overlooked the garbage and the garbage trucks and noise kept us awake.
Breakfast was like a zoo. They ran out of everything iand it was so windy everything went cold quickly and there was nowhere to eat inside. Staff tried to help but overrun.
Reception staff changed our room for the second stay. Much better. Ocean view. Lisa Catherine on front desk was very helpful.
Also it was not explained to us that we had $5 credit at the gallery cafe every day included in our resort fee.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Good location.
Expedia staff on activities desk gave us misinformation about Pearl Harbour tours but did recommend good local restaurants.

We know our complimentary breakfast buffet is popular, and we will take your feedback to heart, in order to ensure a more relaxed experience for you next time. We will be sure to let Lisa know her services at the front desk proved so helpful, though we share in your frustration that you were not made aware of all the perks included in our resort fee. Overall, it was very pleasant stay, like my previous stay. Check-in staff was polite and quick. My room was immaculate, comfortable, and cool upon entry. Staff also stocked extra hygiene products I requested last time and delivered WorldOfHyatt benefits (bottled water) in the room before my arrival, which was heart-warming. One problem was that I noticed a leak at the vanity area at about 9pm. Heidi promptly arranged engineers to come fix it and clean the area. Moreover, she offered WorldOfHyatt points to off-set the inconvenience. I think this continued to show that the team at Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach sincerely care about their guests.

We were looking for a dog friendly place for our staycation which is harder than you think. However, finding out that this Hyatt is pet friendly, we checked it out and wasn't disappointed.
Staff are super friendly, doesn't smell like dogs and very clean. There is a one time charge of $75 for pets up to 7 days. Yes it's true the coffee in the lobby is lukewarm by the afternoon. Due to covid, breakfast is grab and go. You get a breakfast sandwich, yogurt, fruit, boiled egg, muffin, juice, coffee and and assortment of teas.
Pool service is limited to 4 due to covid. We couldn't go on the 1st day as it was maxed out, but went on the 2nd. It is by honor system. Don't expect much from the pool.
Housekeeping does not come daily but you can get extra supplies at the desk. We had a pipe leak under our sink and they responded quickly.
There is a Thai food truck behind the hotel that I went 2x.
For kama'aina, resort fee and parking is waived during this time. We were even upgraded. The parking lot was full which was a bit of a disappointment, so we were directed to the Banyan across the street. The hotel reimbursed immediately.
Is this the most deluxe hotel? No. Amenities are scarce due to covid but it was extremely clean and again, dog friendly. Many dogs we saw and yet you heard none. I would definitely come back if doing a staycation for the family that includes our dog.

Aloha Mandyk668, thank you for your message. We provide cribs in our room. They are clean and we did not have any concerns about comfort.
Beach chairs and towels are complimentary. The hotel did run short of chairs a couple of times so pick them up earlier. I don't believe umbrellas were an option.
