Quiet. Very good bed and mattress. Staff friendly and well trained to respect guests. Nice location close to Ala Moana Shopping. Real free arrival cocktail prepared to order by bartender. TV and internet worked well. Will come again. Priced right.

Hotel's Favorite
We did a layover in Honolulu and we aren't fans of big brand hotels as they are just high rise concrete jungles. I found the Equus which is a very sweet family run hotel and booked straight away, I'm so glad I did, what a little gem in this big loud city! The rooms are comfortable and the shower is actually the best we have experienced on holiday! There is a lot of road noise but guessing all hotels on the strip would suffer the same problem. I'm a really light sleeper and it didn't stop me from sleeping, just the odd reversing lorry woke me up briefly at dawn! What we really loved about this hotel was the personal feel, anything you need and the staff would assist straight away, and it had a cute bar where we chatted to other guests and Matt the bar man would get involved and had us all laughing. On our check out day, we got stuck up Diamond Head as someone climbed it without water and had a medical emergency so we were stuck for over an hour at the top in the heat waiting for a helicopter to rescue them. We rushed back half hour late and panicked but the team were so sweet and made a joke of it, it really was appreciated as we know how busy they are during change overs and we made their life harder! Not sure I would recommend any changes to this hotel, it's a great price, perfect location, staff are amazing and it just has a good vibe, something you can't achieve in the big crowded hotels. Thanks for making our stay fun and comfortable, we loved Honolulu and will be back!

A place with true aloha! When you walk up the stairs you are welcomed and made to feel at home. The people at the Equus are super friendly and always helpful. I love the aloha drink, just being able to sit and relax in the nice bar area as a way to start my visit is great. Equus is located within walking distance of every you need, the beach, the mall, a beautiful park, the boat marina, Waikiki, everything is close by. I have stayed at the Equus several times now - it is my go to place when I am on the Island. Until next time! Aloha

This is a very charming hotel that was clean and comfortable. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the horse-themed décor and it is conveniently located. There was a bit of noise from the street, but nothing that kept us awake at night.

Visiting Waikiki is a challenge. The only positive things I can say is that the bed was comfortable and the location near magic island and Ala Moana park were good. Their description says parking on site was available, but it wasn’t. We had to use a nearby garage at $28 a night, and lug all of our luggage down flights of stairs across a major crowded thoroughfare. Their site did not describe how to arrive and they didn’t offer luggage drop off or pick up. The room was okay except there were BUGS crawling all over the countertops and in the keurig. DISGUSTING. This meant I couldn’t make coffee and when I mentioned this to the waitstaff at the cafe, he wouldn’t comp me a coffee, so I had to go out and buy it. The staff was the most unwelcoming I had experienced on the island. It was like they could care less whether you were there or not. Oh and be careful not to bump your head on the bamboo canopy bed, or get a splinter from the bamboo chairs (did both). Very pricey for what you get.

The friendly staff of The Equus exude a genuine welcome of Aloha. The accommodations are comfortable and well maintained. Little luxuries at the on-site bar enhance this boutique hotel. I recommend The Equus as a destination stay in Oahu.

I had the fortunate opportunity to spend a week at this boutique hotel. I plan on returning for a longer stay. I would highly recommend it for anyone that is looking for a unique place to stay that has a wonderful staff - everyone from Lincoln checking you in, housekeeping, and the crew at the cafe/bar (Matt, Ben and Yulia). I have to say Ben and Yulia are my favorites! Ben is wonderful (always friendly, smiling and helpful. Ben made my stay a wonderful experience - everything from bringing my bags up the stairs from sidewalk, my first Paniolo punch, great recommendations for local food establishments, great conversation daily and my first lox and bagel breakfast. Yulia is really friendly, funny and great with everyone. The hotel has a pretty patio and pool area, with an open-air bar/cafe. The pool water is cold but felt great after a long day shopping. The open-air bar is a great place to meet other guests and locals. The room was a little crowded with furnishings and a little dated. However, it had everything I needed and then some... fridge, coffee maker, quality toiletries, very clean and the king size bed was amazing. I did ask for a blanket (I need to sleep with weight), I didn't get that, but they did provide two extra sheets. ;) It all worked out! My room had a balcony on the 5th floor, a view of the trees which had beautiful birds singing every day. There is a ABC store close by and a Food Pantry grocery store. The ABC is good for essentials, but the food pantry is an actual grocery store and is just a couple blocks away. The Ala Moana open air shopping center is about a block away and has everything from a target store to Nordstrom and EVERYTHING in between including a large food court. I spent most of my time at the Magic Island Beach/park which is just across from the shopping center. Nice beaches with lifeguards, great for snorkeling, swimming and chilling. The park has some beautiful trees, lots of benches, plenty of bathrooms and outdoor showers, very safe and clean. To sum it up, the Equus Boutique Hotel is my new go to thanks to the Equus team, the convenient location, the value and overall experience!

Clean and convenient location but, Elevator not working, doors to balcony did not close so it was very noisy, pool was full of leaves and looked abandoned. Although a lesser expensive option , it was not good value.
