Nestled close to Waikiki Beach, the Waikiki Resort Hotel garners praise for its spotless premises and convenient location, beloved by guests for ease of access to local attractions. While the rooms earn points for cleanliness, some visitors mention they could benefit from updates and better soundproofing. The hotel's atmosphere strikes a nostalgic note with its old-school charm, despite certain areas longing for a modern touch. Service experiences at the hotel vary, with many guests commending the friendly staff, though others have faced less satisfactory encounters. When it comes to value, the competitive room rates and breakfast inclusives are often highlighted as key perks, despite calls for greater amenity diversity.

Very nice hotel right near the beach, with lovely terrace to watch the surfers etc.terrific shops, restaurants etc. Service was wonderful and the hotel Lobby is beautiful and open. Nancy at the desk was wonderful and very helpful. They have 2 places to eat in the hotel one is a basic breakfast lunch and a Koren place that was very good, and bar that serves small plates. They also have Massage Spa too! We did the Pearl Harbor Tour of the Arizona and it was great! We loved the tour guide as he was fun and very knowledgeable. I learned a lot about the history of Hawaii which was cool! However, there are a few things that need to be addressed, There towel system is the pits! You must go down to the basement to get and return towels which is a pain especially if have with knee injuries, as i do. I suggested they put a hamper near the stairs to return towels so you are not going up & down. I forgot to get our towels a few times because it out of sight and had to go all the way back to the hotel to get them. On our last day I took the towel from the room so I did not have to go back and forth. Worked great! The other issue we endured as my husband has back pain now and cannot walk very well. They are not well equipped to cater to the unimpaired or handicapped. There was not one holding bar anywhere in the bathroom and my husband feel in the tub because there was nothing to hold to & he broke a few of the plastic shower curtain hooks and the towel rack because there was nothing to grab. They were very good about as I did report the issue and they fixed those items right away with any hassle. Another thing is the toilet was too low and hard to stand especially with anyone with a disability, & the door was so close to the toilet you could not open the door inward, you can only close it all the way unless you are using it. Poor designing there. The pool are is nice & they have nice loungers, but the water is SO cold you cannot stay in too long and they have no spa tub. The sun does not hit the pool til like noon as the building block it until it comes up. Also beware you must pay to use the chairs & umbrellas on the beach. 2 lounge chairs and umbrella will set you back back $60 bucks! Way too expensive if you ask me. We did it the first day but when I went by myself I asked for one chair only they charged me $25.00. They next time I went it was $20.00......then $15.00 as I only stated 1/2 day only. But they guys there are very professional and nice. Other than that a Lovey place to stay!

Stayed here for 4 nights celebrating our anniversary. Can’t say enough about the friendly and helpful staff. Front desk, housekeeping and bell desk were above and beyond. Unfortunately that’s where the good points stop. The location is great; one block from Waikiki beach however we were given a partial ocean view; just a sliver of ocean was available with most the view from the balcony looking onto low-income style apartments; not what I had in mind. Our room overlooked the pool which backed to the same apartments; not any privacy so we didn’t use the pool. The property as a whole looks outdated and tired in much need of a facelift.
We appreciated the fact that they had a water bottle filler in the lobby and arranged for a shuttle to the airport for $15 a person.
For the money we spent; I feel like the property should be better maintained; not sure what can be done about the apartments behind the hotel but if I had expected a real Ocean view I would have been greatly disappointed.

I thought I scored a great deal on Hotwire at Waikiki Resort for 5 days. At first I was super excited- had booked a king size bed with what seem like a whole other room with a pull out bed. Two decent size TVs in each room. And the free dvd service is an interesting touch. I even had 2 lanais.

What they absolutely lost me was their bathroom. It does not match up with the feel of the “resort”. The sink is the cheapest and smallest sink you can buy that is only meant for washing your hands. The mirrors are awkward and faces each other but not you. There is virtually no counter space! What kind of bathroom is this? They could have easily taken some space from the extra room to make a bigger bathroom.

Oh and so the hotel room also has a kitchenette with a sink. Brilliant me thought to myself, let me use the sink there instead (because I felt like I was going to bash my head on the sink whenever I wash my face or brush my teeth). The kitchenette’s sink doesn’t even turn on the correct way! I took a video to demonstrate the awkward way to turn the faucet on.

After 3 days I couldn’t stand the sink situations and asked the front desk on a Thursday if I could change my room. The woman responded that they are fully booked (ok I can understand that) but also “all the bathrooms are the same. I can try to get you another room but the sink is the same”. I told her I saw the website, that is not true. But she insisted and said she will look into it but I highly doubt it.

I can’t wait to get the hell out of here. All the amazing reviews here may be true but was not my experience. There are pros and cons but the bathroom is too big of a con for me. Stay away from room 901 and possibly from Waikiki resort.

Stayed here with our tour group, arriving a day early on our own. Price seemed reasonable for 2nd row from the ocean and we booked a high floor with partial view. Even on the higher floor there is a lot of street noise but it is a city and that is what you often get. (single pane glass seems to be the norm in Hawaii) Room had a balcony with 2 chairs and we could watch the surfers all day! Bed and pillows were acceptable and there was coffee and teabags. Bathroom was typical motel set-up with sink outside of shower/toilet area. Main suggestion is they need to do a deep cleaning asap in the rooms and some of the public areas. With so many choices you might find something a bit better for similar price.

Tours department are not helpful at all and are not willing to give you any other information unless it's related to their tours, which they were sold out.
Room Service would only change your sheets but wouldn't clean anything else unless you ask them and were not very nice about it.
Restaurant- Breakfast is included but it's only a grab bag with same food every day. Food cannot be eaten in the restaurant unless you buy something else.

Not bad but not worth the price at all. The hotel is outdated and the rooms are small. Also, booking through Expedia you don't get the free breakfast buffets that you would get if the room was booked direct and at the same price. Overall, a solid pretty ok.

My rating is based on the room I stayed in which was the superior studio. originally I booked a regular 2 double bed but we accepted the upgrade when offered. The check in process was great the staff was very friendly and always in a happy mood. The cleanliness was always great make sure to leave your daily tip :) the value for the location is worth it personally, 5 min walk to the beach, beach towels provided daily, lots to do within walking distance. Surf bar in the hotel has great atmosphere friendly bartenders ended our night there pretty much every night after our daytime activities. Breakfast on 2nd floor and vouchers for the ilima located in the hotel lobby. Personally we preferred the 2nd floor breakfast there was more variety. The room has iron, blow dryer, AC the water pressure was great for us no issues there. The only day I had trouble sleeping through the noise was on Friday morning but that was our last day so it wasn't horrible, still I suggest buying ear plugs if you're a light sleeper the buses literally started at 3am that day no clue why. Mahalo for your hospitality:)

The hotel was booked by my cousin, i typically stay and book marriott hotels but i was actually happy with this hotel. Its clean its meets your lodging needs. It even offers take away breakfast( pick it yo and leave to eat in your room). The staff even allowed us to check in at around 1pm which made it convenient to drop off our luggage in the room. The positive about the bathroom is the shower and toilet is behind a door, allowing others to use the bathroom sink. The negative the shower and toilet rest in a very cramped room, however it still meets your toileting and bathing needs. I give this room 4/5 because location is great, room was clean, open medium size balcony(ours faced other buildings).

We had a wonderful time at Waikiki Resort Hotel. The room was clean and bed was very comfortable which we were surprised about because we are quite picky about beds. It is an older hotel but has been well kept and maintained. There was cleaning service daily and you can get beach towels. The location can’t be beat. The Hyatt next door is a main stop for all the tour buses so it’s a few minutes walk away to access everything but by not being a main stop yourself there’s less traffic around the resort. The mini mart in the resort is very reasonably priced and you can get cute souvenirs for cheaper then places around. The complimentary breakfast was also better than we thought it would be and you can also order other food at the same time. My husband enjoyed the french toast for an extra fee. The fridge for the room is in the bathroom which was different and took us awhile to realize. Waikiki beach is like a two minute walk away and the water is so clear you can see the fish swimming around you. The sand is so soft. There’s also tons of places to eat within walking distance.
