Overall 5 stars: Hands down the best luxury pet friendly hotel in Waikiki! From the exceptional service to the personalized details that made my stay an unforgettable one.
Service 5 stars: Upon arriving to the valet, we were met with warm greetings and had our bags unloaded by the guest service team. We were then escorted to the elevators that took us to the front desk. We were greeted with refreshing cucumber mint water and pineapple and star fruit jelly candy. Once we were checked in, our bags were on the same elevator going to our room. No waiting around for our luggage. Upon entering our room we discovered a special and personalized experience. There was a "Happy Birthday" Brownie in the refrigerator and plushy stingray for the little ones. There was also a dog bed and dog bowls already in the room for our dog. There was also a box of Beach Brittle and souvenir Ka La'i water bottles.
Amenities 5 stars: Our room had spectacular floor to ceiling window views of the ocean and the Waikiki coastline. The balcony had glass railings that made it safe for our little dog to go out on. Full kitchen with Wolf appliances and an enormous refrigerator. There was also a Nespresso machine that my wife used daily. The luxurious amenities also included a deep soaking tub with a window that could be opened toward the master bedroom. There was a separate shower that had the best water pressure. All in an Italian marble bathroom. The toilet seats were heated and had a bidet. There was also a washer and dryer in the room which made it convenient. There are many more that there is not enough room to list them all.
Location 5 stars: The Ka La'i is right across the street from the beach and the walk is a beautiful and short one passing the US Army Museum. There are many great places to eat and shop within walking distance of the hotel. I would say all within a 5 to 10 minute walk of the hotel. If you are staying with your pet, there are grassy areas all around the hotel and a nice park to take a walk in across the street.
Cleanliness 5 stars: This is a big one for me. From the Grand Entrance to our guest room, everything was spotless. I can't stand rooms that were not cleaned properly. The cleaning staff were very pleasant and helpful, asking if we needed anything, anytime we passed by them. And they all did so with a smile.
This is our favorite hotel to stay at in Waikiki and we will definitely be back there soon. If you want an unforgettable experience in Waikiki you have to stay at the Ka La'i.

After my daughter's junior high school entrance exam and COVID-19, we went on a family trip to Hawaii for the first time in 5 years. We were torn between Aulani Disney, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Ritz-Carlton, and Trump Waikiki. We decided on Trump Waikiki because it had the best benefits for the Amex Business Card, and because of the grade and size of the room, and the condominium-type accommodation, which allows you to stay like you're living there. In the end, Trump was the best! Although it was an extra charge of $109 per night, we were given a special upgrade for repeat customers, from a one-bedroom suite to a two-bedroom suite with an ocean view on the 28th floor. It was a luxurious time to be in the room and enjoy sightseeing, and we were able to enjoy Hawaii to the fullest without having to go out much. The breakfast buffet was included, so we started every morning with delicious fruit. You can order fried eggs, omelets, pancakes, and other items other than the buffet. There is no detailed explanation, so please ask the hall staff. (This was the only thing I thought was unfriendly.) The pool is nice, Waikiki Beach is close, it's easy to shop, and Trump is in a good location, so you can enjoy both the resort and the city. There are many Japanese staff members, so even those who are not good at English can rest assured. Also, the guests, both foreigners and Japanese, are all wonderful people, and when we said goodbye in the elevator, we all said "Hava Nais Day!" "You too!" It was like we all had an aloha moment. Ah, writing this comment made me want to go again! Aloha, everyone, have a great trip! Traveling abroad can change your life. It can change your life! Bless up!

Magnificent stay. Beautiful hotel, large room, with an elegant and simple decoration, extra large bed, small living room with a sofa and an armchair and a piece of furniture that had a very large TV, a kitchenette that was not very large but with everything essential to be able to cook if desired. , having breakfast in the room, etc., the magnificent bathroom, very spacious with a bathtub and a very large shower, the most notable thing is the extreme cleanliness with which the room was found every day, including the terrace (there are five-star hotels that do not have the terrace). They clean it every day), replenishment of water, many towels, in short, a real delight, the person at the reception who served us was truly sweet and very friendly, we did not have the pleasure of eating in the restaurant since we ate/dinned outside or in the room, the small pool, although having those beaches, who wants a pool?...for us particularly it is not essential... They provide you with towels for the beaches/pool, the beach is just across a very nice promenade full of vegetation, palm trees, birds...in short, if we return to Honolulu we would not hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended.

My children and I stayed at Trump Waikiki in December and then again in January when we laid over for 3 days each time on the way to Australia. The hotel is incredible, the staff goes above and beyond. The rooms are beautiful and large. Kitchen and W/D options in some rooms; but even the smaller room we had the second stay had a kitchenette. The pool was heated and had a separate hot tub. Check out Lahaina shaved ice next door, cut through the parking lot/sidewalk. The room service, and restaurant onsite, the food was delicious.
The only negative about our stay, was Dennis the server at the breakfast buffet. He was SO rude to my children and I. It wasn’t a coincidence, when we came back to the hotel 2 weeks later for our second stay, we groaned when they sat us in Dennis’s section again. He would acknowledge us, never fill water or juice, or clear plates we had to do that ourselves. It was bizarre because I noticed he was so nice to other tables from his same culture. He was blatantly rude. There is an automatic 18% gratuity in closed in the breakfast buffet, I’m guessing that’s why he does not care whether he is rude or does his job at all. I’m not sure why he is working at this hotel, he really needs to go. He did everything possible to make us feel unwelcome and that we were inconveniencing him by being at the breakfast buffet.

We stayed here as a family of five. We had a good impression when we stayed at this hotel four years ago, so we stayed here again this time. There are two bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room, so it is perfect for a family trip of five adults. The room is equipped with two shower rooms, two toilets, a washing machine, a kitchen, and a full set of tableware, so even if we get tired of eating out and buy food from the supermarket, we can eat without any inconvenience. This time, we were particularly impressed with the timing of housekeeping and the carefulness of their work.

My stay @ Trump Waikiki was amazing . The Staff that maintained Room 1207 - Ms. Ella did a superb and fantabulous job of replenishing water, supplies and keeping it impeccably clean . You can never find a single strand of hair or any spec of dust or smudge on the rug, bathroom, kitchen and even the patio and its furniture . This is what guests are looking for whenever they get back from their vacay or beach activities - well cleaned, maintained rooms and linens giving you a feeling that is relaxed , at peace and serenity ...

Just after reserving at this hotel, we learned that the property was in the process of changing hands, and was now a Hilton. So we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised.
We had a very nice unit with separate bedroom, full kitchen and even a washer and dryer.
The service here is impeccable, discreet and mostly behind the scenes. You won’t see housekeeping carts, hear loud knocks or “housekeeping!!“ announcements. In fact, everyone we encountered was extremely courteous and pleasant.
The breakfast buffet is outstanding, and served on an outdoor terrace, protected from sun and wind, and several levels above the hustle and bustle of the streets below.
It’s true that the infinity pool is a bit small, which didn’t bother us since we prefer the ocean anyway. Near the pool area you’ll find a nice quiet area where you can relax on shaded lounge chairs.
If I could make one suggestion, it would be to install one - better two - handles by the bath tub. We had a deep soaking tub that doubled as a shower since there was no separate shower stall. The bathroom is all glas and marble, and climbing in and out of that tub with nothing to hold on to was tricky.

We had a great stay! This is the fourth Trump property we have stayed at and we are always so impressed. The food and drinks at the restaurants were all very good. The infinity pool and hot tub was very relaxing and it was great that you could order drinks to be delivered there. We enjoyed a relaxing couples massage at the spa here. The location was great as it was only a block to the beach and you can easily walk to many restaurants and shops nearby. The valet parking was very convenient to use. It was great that the concierge provided towels for a beach day on your way out. Our room was very large including a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and balcony and was more reasonably priced than similar hotels in the area. My husband really enjoyed the bidet and heated seat in the bathroom, so much so that he wants to buy the same model for at home! We always enjoy the cozy Trump robes and slippers in your room, and we enjoyed the coffee and bottles water that was free in the room. Would definitely recommend!

The Ka La'i is a top-notch hotel on Oahu. What attracted me to the hotel was the size of the rooms and amenities such as having a full kitchen in the room. We had a high floor two bedroom/two-bathroom room with an ocean view. I traveled with my spouse, son and in laws and the room provided enough privacy so that we didn't feel like we were on top of each other during the trip. The rooms were quiet, well maintained, and the housekeeping staff was top notch (for daily cleaning and turn down). I viewed a lot of places on Oahu before deciding on Ka La'i and we didn't have one issue. I used the gym facilities, and the machines were all in working order and the facility was well taken care of. The pool is on the smaller side, which is typical in the area, but the beach is across the street. The concierge will provide beach amenities when heading to the beach, which was convenient. The valet staff was ample and professional. All in all, when traveling with elderly people, you want to feel like you are in a space where you feel safe, and if something should happen you are well taken care of, and we very much did! Not one complaint from the in laws during our stay - so bravo! The hotel is a short walking distance from a variety of restaurants and shopping. We did not dine at any of the onsite restaurants, so I cannot review those but highly recommend Ka La'i.

If I could give this hotel 6 stars, I would. Staying here was just a fantastic experience all around. The hotel is so elegant, yet modern and relaxed. They are planning renovations in the new year, although I don't see any need for them. Everything was in superb condition. The location one block from the beach is terrific; it's just a 5 minute walk down to the water. Some reviewers have criticized the pool deck at The Ka L'ai; I found it to be a wonderful place to enjoy a sunny day. The views of the water from there are excellent, there are lots of shady places, the hot tub is great, and the pool itself is quite nice. I guess it could be just a bit bigger, but that is quibbling. Breakfast daily was the buffet and it was delicious, fresh, and offered many American and Japanese choices. The fresh fruit was especially plentiful and scrumptious. I had 2 deluxe king, ocean view rooms, one for my partner and me and one for my parents. These were basically large junior suites with a full living area, a balcony with table and chairs, a surprisingly well-equipped kitchenette, and a huge bathroom with a tub and separate shower. Everything was spotless and the bed was quite comfortable. The maids even did the dishes for us! The staff here are exceptionally professional, helpful, and courteous. Truly top-notch. I was traveling with my elderly parents, one of whom has mobility issues. The Ka L'ai staff were very kind and helpful to my mother. As my parents were flying home to a different city on the mainland than we were, I was concerned about departing the hotel before they did; Alex at the front desk did all he could to allay my concerns. He was a standout, even among his stellar colleagues.
