Great timeshare resort. We booked over thanksgiving 9 months ahead of time. We had a one bedroom and two bedroom suite. You have to book ahead for the grand vacation club properties.
I was a bit hesitant to book at the Hilton since the property is huge. I was worried about it being too crowded. Fortunately it wasn’t too bad, it felt like a nice spread out resort. Also the price isn’t that high compared to similar properties in Hawaii. You can pay the same rate $600-700 per night for a single room in Maui as you can get a two bedroom suite with kitchen here.
The room was fantastic. They promptly cleaned it every day in the morning, which is a rarity in hotels nowadays. The service was great. Staff was good. Room was nice and in perfect condition. Staying in Waikiki means plenty of restaurant options. The lagoon and beach are amazing, although the rentals for chairs, kayaks, etc are over priced. Surprisingly it wasn’t too hard to find a lounge chair at the pool.
Two bad things for the grand islander. One is the pools are cold and the other is that the beach is a long walk. Next time will try the lagoon tower. I wish they heated pools. The grand island we has its own pool, but no one ever went on because it was too cold in November. What a waste! The main resort pools are also cold. The super pool has no hot tub either. At the paradise pool, the hot tub was usually full of kids warming up after going down the water slides. Perhaps it is better in summer.
Be warned that the entrance is hidden and you can’t easily access the parking garage. It’s a bit of a a walk for overpriced parking.

Best hotel in Honolulu for families! The hotel is beautiful, centrally located, comfortable plus you can find everything you need just walking distance! We booked a two bedroom ocean view and fell in love with the view! The rooms where very clean plus the hotel had excellent guest services. Great amenities and walking distance to the beach…made great memories with the kids! Would definitely stay here again!

It was just after the New Year, and we had plenty of room for 3 adults and one 6-year-old, 2BDR. There is a dedicated front desk, so check-in is smooth. I was still wearing my winter clothes in the morning, so I could have changed in the toilet. I had some time before check-in, so I ate lunch in my winter clothes while sweating.
Towels and soaps are provided, but you can bring everything else with you or buy more at ABC Mart on the floor below. Shampoo also has a coconut mango scent, so if that bothers you, it's better to bring your own. The toilet is not a washlet. Tableware and home appliances are provided, but they are difficult to use compared to Japanese-made products. The instruction manual is available on the TV in Japanese, but it is still confusing. It takes time to get used to it. The shower is a headset. The shower was only fixed and hard to use, I wish it had a hand shower,
The road is close to the Islander, so it's convenient to take the bus, the Pink Line is also close, and you can walk to Ala Moana Center,
The yen is weak so it's expensive wherever you eat, I recommend buying food from ABC or the supermarket and eating it in your room, so you need to be good at using the appliances, reservations are required for small restaurants, and you have to be prepared to queue for cheap restaurants, plus you have to choose between three options for tipping, and it's hard to calculate because it even has the cents written down, so I just added the dollars in the cheap column,
There's no tipping in Japan, China, and Korea, right? We don't get along, but let's continue to get along and set an example for the world on this issue...lol

The property did not let us know that the workers have been on strike for the past month. There was nobody to come and clean our room or switch out our bedding. The bathroom was filthy with hair from the previous stay all floors show signs that they had also not been vacuum or cleaned. We also had to go to the 12th floor pick up our own clean towels and supplies for the room like toilet paper. I was traveling with my 1 year old baby and spent most of my time in the room cleaning to make sure she would not get sick.
Both of the poolside and beachside bars/food options were also unavailable which meant there was no convenient food or drink other than a distant food truck on the edge of the lagoon and the ABC store which was quite a distance away
From when we booked to when we arrived to check into our reservation we were not told about the strike and how we would have to be cleaning and maintaining our own room while on vacation. To add to this disappointment the protesters were screaming on mega phones and blocked entrances throughout the property which had a huge effect on the peace, and my family’s ability to sleep at a decent time.
When we finally had enough I brought my concerns up to management and was told I would have my room cleaned (floors cleaned and bedding changed) and we would be refunded our service fees, but neither of these things happened. I called The Hilton corporate office and they said due to the strike they cannot help and referred me back to the manager who did not follow through on her promises. I will never stay at a Hilton again due to the service I received after spending several thousand dollars. There was no remorse and little effort Given to make our stay better after we paid.
I’m sure none of the other reviews will go into this much detail about what happened during their stay if they have been compensated at all, but I am disgusted by the way we were treated as paying customers. Please research this Worker Strike for more info.

We asked for an ocean view and were told that wasn't possible, but then received a room with an ocean view anyway. It was a gorgeous view! My family and I stayed in a 1 bedroom for 8 days and the kids slept on the sleeper sofa in the living room. We had plenty of space. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. The bathroom included a soaking tub and separate shower, and the toilet (with a bidet) was behind frosted glass. The washer and dryer were located in the bathroom and laundry detergent was provided. They provided large bottles of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, as well. The kitchen was nice and included quality appliances. The hotel is conveniently located in the Hilton Hawaiian Village, which offers restaurants and shopping. There were several pools on the property, including a private pool on the 3rd floor. Cabana rentals and beach/ocean activities such as surfing lessons and whale-watching tours were offered for an additional charge. Every staff member we encountered while there was friendly and considerate. The beach is a short walk away. It was a bit confusing figuring out where to go for each of our Uber drivers when we left the hotel. Also, the hot tub was not working. That was the biggest disappointment for our daughter. She still complains about that when we visit other hotels with working hot tubs.

Stayed here with a large bachelor party of about 16. Normally had a good experience with Hilton but will reconsider where I spend my money after this experience. 1) told by Hilton customer support on the phone to request change to room reservation at hotel; at hotel no attempt made to make that change for our party and front desk person was very dismissive and short with me 2) significant issues with room service, repeated contact attempts with no access to the services; basically unavailable throughout the stay and this issue was present prior to the strike they had starting at 4 AM on 09/01/2024 (yes 4AM) 3) one member of our party found roaches in their room which raises concern for the sanitation practices at this location 4) only 2 elevators working on Saturday; took 30 minutes to go to lobby; some of our party had to go to down 19 flights of stairs so we didn't miss our planned events 5) protests occurring during our visit which were well organized and planned in advance (no notice given to guests to find other accommodation); first day started at 4 AM and they did not relent during the rest of our stay there; made it hard to sleep/rest and leave the hotel to make scheduled activities
Honestly never had such a terrible experience at a Hilton location. Don't usually write reviews but had to make an exception. This hotel does not offer good value, and I would highly recommend finding other accommodations to spend your hard earned money where you will get better service.

So depending on your priorities, this place can be a great option. We stayed as a family of 4 (two teenagers) so we needed 3 beds and wanted a full kitchen. We didn't mind not being right on the beach or having an ocean view. Check in was smooth and the reception and lobby staff were friendly. The parking (very expensive) is in a nearby building but you can pull up to the lobby to load and unload. The driveway is very easy to miss but once you know where it is, it makes the fact that the parking isn't right there basically a non-issue. The room was large - two doubles in the bedroom with a dresser and closet, a double pullout in the main room, and a good size kitchen. The bathroom was very large with two sinks, a separate toilet area with a door and a Japanese toilet :) There was a lovely balcony with a view of the sunset, and our room had a washer and dryer in the room. For us this was huge - hiking and beach make for many dirty clothes. As this is one of the newer buildings on the property, it was clean and pretty fresh looking. We really liked that there was a dedicated pool and hot tub for the building on the 3rd floor. It was nothing fancy but a lot quieter than the shared, beautiful pools on the property. Overall, for our purposes, this place was great and we would recommend it and stay again.

The hotel is very nice and wish we saw it while not on strike. 1,800 employees has completely taken Hilton to its knees with their biggest property in the world. Neither the strikers or the hotel shows concern for who really pays both sides salary. It is completely forgotten by Hilton the inconvenience and expense of the vacation. It was not just getting your own towels and lack of door man. Whirlpools did not work. People striking morning until night. In my wife’s 64 year birthday I pass the strikers and one turned the blow horn at my wife’s ear and was yelling out. Both sides have legitimate concerns, despite record profits Hilton still has not hired back 1/3 of its pre-COVID labor despite record profits. Meanwhile we go to a time share presentation by a man that was very high level management and hates the strikers but also goes on about how expensive housing is and how the young have to move of the island. Home prices START at a million and a condo 1/2 million. I didn’t feel like I got my money’s worth based on the expense and no offer of compensation from the Hilton. The unit I stayed in was supposed to be VIP but cooking equipment was lacking quality and I do cook. Unit also didn’t have a cork screw and the guest services suggested going down stairs and going out to the bar to open. Seems like this should be included with your VIP room. Later while I am missing the first part of the debate to get my bottle opened the bell hop recognizes me from checking in and said he can get a cork screw sent to my room. During the sales presentation it just seems like this is no way to treat your supposed VIP guests.

We visited as a family of 2 adults and 3 children. The suite was big enough for us all, very modern, spacious and cleaned daily. Our bed was big and comfortable and I slept well every night. We had a very large shower which had great water pressure. The en-suite bathroom was spacious with a Japanese toilet. Our first experience of one which was entertaining. I miss it! There was also a twin room with a main bathroom with normal toilet in. In the large lounge there is a comfortable sofa which converts to the most comfortable sofa bed I have ever experienced. The kitchen is big with a dishwasher. There is a cupboard with a washing machine and dryer. Balcony views with lovely. There is a fireworks display every Friday night on the beach which is definitely worth watching. The whole resort is well landscaped with ponds with fish, turtles and even a few ducks in. 🦆 There are lots of pools to go in within the Hilton area. They do get busy so get there early if you want somewhere good to sit. There are great shops around. There is an ABC store where you can buy groceries. It is expensive though. If you want to save money there is a big Walmart about 20 minutes walk away (near a park with 10+ cats in!). The other way there is lots of major shops and restaurants chains like Cheesecake Factory. Also beautiful landscaping in this area too. You can walk along the beach to it or along the pavements. About 20 minutes walk. The beach nearby is great. The sea is warmer than the pools. We did an activity called lei making. Made of real orchids. Really lovely. If you want a clean, modern, spacious hotel this is for you.

I am the owner of the Grand Waikikian, but this Golden Week, the only room available was the Grand Islander, so I made a reservation here. I had visited the hotel several times as a meeting point for optional tours, so I didn't have any problems with the location, and since the hotel was built after Waikikian, the rooms were clean and comfortable. I went there with my daughter, her husband, and grandchild, so it was nice that the pool had a sense of privacy. The kitchen and washing machine are easy to use, so feel free to bring your own if you want to take out or cook your own meals. (The same goes for Grand Waikikian) It's within walking distance from Waikiki, so I think it would be a good idea to stay here next time if there is space.

Sofa bed is not confortable or at least ours wasnt... you may need that extra pad. Coffee maker is weird and it works with like a pouch they provide. We didnt have a Keurig in our room.

They will not do a head count. My family waited in the louge near the elevators, while I checked in around the corner. They did ask for me to write down the names of who was staying with me. I did not include my baby on the list. We had a great stay.
