The Kahala is a piece of heaven situated in a neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. We were lucky enough to get the #813 suite with a beautiful view of sunrises, the beach and dolphin lagoon. This was my birthday trip and they treated me like a queen. Linda and Ricky at the front desk were amazing. Christina at the pool bar had great tips for beaches and hiking. We were only there for four nights but they were the best four of our trip. If you need to get into the Waikiki, it's a quick little drive if you avoid rush hour. You're only minutes away from Diamond Head and a short beautiful drive to Makapu'u Light House

Aloha and happy birthday, Amy! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for pointing out the fun things to do right around The Kahala. A drive up the coast to Makapu'u and just past it is breathtaking! Mahalo for sharing.

I'm one of those people who take hotels/vacations very seriously. I read all the TripAdvisor reviews and look at pictures. When booking my birthday vacation I went back and forth on which hotel in Oahu to book. I was reticent to stay at the Kahala only due to the distance between the hotel and Waikiki. As it was to be my first time in Oahu, I naively thought I wanted to stay at a hotel closer to Waikiki. What made me decide to book the Kahala was the reviews about the service, the beach, the fact that the hotel doesn't have resort fees, doesn't charge for beach chairs and the size of the rooms. Let me tell you, I AM SO HAPPY I BOOKED THIS PLACE. I honestly can't stay enough good things. Everything about this hotel was top notch. The service was outstanding. The concierge upgraded my room for my birthday, helped my boyfriend plan a few special surprises for my day and made sure I had a great time. All of the staff from the valet to the front desk are more than helpful. The beach is so clean and quiet. The Kahala neighborhood makes you feel like you're on a resort. Very upscale and luxury. The Dolphin experience, while expensive, was well worth the time and money. The rooms were large. The water pressure in the bathroom fantastic. The Royal Pine drink at the bar....AMAZING. We also rented a Porsche through the hotel for the day which ended up being cheaper than what Hertz was quoting for a Kia Soul. Ubers from the hotel to everywhere we wanted to go were not expensive at all. Waikiki was such a hot busy mess that it felt so good to come back to our oasis at the Kahala. I can't wait to come back to the hotel and stay here. For sure a 5 star property. We will return. P.S. Great COVID protocols

Aloha! Mahalo nui loa for the considerate and glowing remarks. Appreciate you noting the contrast between The Kahala and the Waikiki hotel options. We are a true resort, meaning we have a completely self-contained experience ... yet just minutes away from city or natural adventures! Thanks for taking the time to share your visit!

We leave tomorrow so I thought while everything is fresh i would write a review of this beautiful resort. I am not giving it a 5 star because it needs to be remodeled but the resort itself is stunning. We stayed here back in 2005 and I don’t think they have done much at all since our last visit. If they did a full remodel it would be 5 star worthy…. We originally planned to take our kids to Bora Bora but with the covid laws last minute we booked Hawaii. I wanted to be close to Waikiki for dinner and activities but i didn’t want to be with all the people so the Kahala is the perfect location. The service is pretty good but could be better at the pool and beach area but again it’s covid year so i know everything has changed. The plumeria restaurant had some maintenance issues so they moved it into the ball room. It was not the same but hey it wasn’t their fault right, some plumbing issue i believe. We ended up booking the golf- slight ocean view rooms and i wouldn’t book this room again. Every morning we were woken up at 5:30 am by them cleaning and cutting the golf course grass, it was annoying 😂. Next time, if there is a next time we will book a ocean view room. The room itself is lovely and perfect for what we need but again they are old and there are cracks in the tiles in the bathroom and the carpet has stains. Kahala spend the money and remodel this beautiful resort, it needs it!!! I would recommend the resort, it has a lot of potential and overall is beautiful and you can’t beat the location. If you don’t like to be around huge crowds this is the place to be!

Just arrived. Starving after the covid check at the airport. No restaurants open at 8:30pm. This is literally worse than a motel. Because a motel at least has a Circle K next door. Just not worth visiting until this Covid BS is done.

Although pricey, the food, amenities were very good. But the personnel were very polite, helpful, informative, and friendly. Hoku’s restaurant is very romantic. Has exciting food. And the servers are excellent. The Beachside poolside grill is very convenient and also has good food and drinks. Pool and beachside services are very helpful and polite.
