This suite hotel is centrally located in Newport, within walking distance of many restaurants, stores, and the historic area. We were not expecting too much since the reviews here have been mixed but we were delightfully surprised. Our room had two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed, and a full bathroom in between. The bedrooms were located upstairs from the kitchen and sitting area. There were also balconies accessible from the bedrooms and sitting room, which on warmer days you can sit outside. So it was like a little apartment or an Airbnb. The beds were comfortable and clean and the bathroom shower area was large. The water pressure and temperature was good. There is also a half bathroom or powder room downstairs. There were plenty of towels. They charge $30 a day for parking which is manned by an electronic in/out system, activated by your room key. The hotel was once a working mill, hence the historic looking building. We were very happy with the accommodations and would gladly stay here again. …
Excellent location! The location is absolutely superb! Walking distance to so much great shopping, dining, and activities. It’s fun to stay in a building so historic with a bunch of history. Staff is friendly and rooms are spacious and clean. We sometimes feel like we don’t need a vehicle but when we do we love that they have dedicated parking.
First of all the lobby is in a strange location. If you follow the arrows you may go in circles. The front desk is behind a glass partition and many times there was not any person manning the desk, nor was there any obvious way to summon someone. As for the rooms they rate a big meh. The bed is tiny and the decor very dull. There is parking for a fee of $30 and there isn't much choice in the matter given the location. The location is fairly central and town center is in easy walking distance. No hurry to get back.
Large unit. Decks on both levels. Great location across from Red Parrot. Clean building & room. Daily cleaning. Limited kitchen appliances. Only parking for one, but the will assist with free parking around Newport. The Coffee grinder on the lobby level is great. Stop in to chat with the owner.
The hotel was beautiful and the suite was well decorated and very clean. Staff were friendly and the location is excellent for the cliff walk and town activities. The only reason that I’m giving 4/5 rather than 5/5 is that we weren’t told in advance the the parking cost an additional $30. I completely understand why they do they need to charge this with cost of living inflation but it wasn’t advertised at the time of booking.
We were here for one night but it was a home from home. A two level apartment, kitchen and dining area. Although it does say fully fitted kitchen, there is no oven or hob to actually cook anything, only a microwave. In the end we got takeout pizza from the restaurant downstairs and watched crappie American telly! Good Times.
This place was very nice, but we had no WiFi for 4 days, I know it's not the property's fault but it was an inconvenience for me. I wasn't sure if we had to pay for parking and I wasn't sure we had to pay for housekeeping on a daily basis, When I checked out there was no added expense, which I was grateful for. If anyone would like to use a pool, please note there is none. I had a great time, and will continue to check other RCI places in Newport. Many restaurants in walking distance.
Stayed one (1) week at the Newport Bay Club & Hotel. Not sure what to expect but the facilities were well maintained and VERY centrally located to the busy ports/entertainment of Newport. The Staff was very friendly. One saving grace was they had a parking space for each unit. Parking was a little pricy but so were others in the area. Also, the parking spaces are TIGHT. Glad we had them though as in-out privileges were also included. Great location and would definitely stay again. Try to avoid the street side if noise is a concern
Excellent location, on the front and within easy walking distance of all the restaurants and attractions. A car parking space is a massive bonus given the cost of parking in Newport. Spacious rooms, with living area and separate bathroom. Good facilities in the room also. Only negative was the Wi fi was down for 3 days …really ?
The hotel is located in Newport's downtown. It was a mill converted into a hotel...so if the charm of high wooden ceilings is what youre looking for , you'll love it. We had a suite with a loft. The stairway to the loft was sort of spiral. The stairs did have some type of slip proof material, that was pealing away but made me think I'd better be careful of them. The room had a refrigerator the you might find in a college dorm. The TV looked like it might have been 35 inches, so not the place to watch a game but good enough for the news. The room did have balconies over looking, Newport & Newport Harbor. The view was spectacular, but the balcony looked a little older & the the furniture on the balcony was nothing special and that was being kind. .The rooms were clean. Although when it came to towels in was like they were rationing them. We needed to call to the front desk for more in the morning. The person who answered asked if we needed them right away or if i could wait till they serviced the room. We were taking showers before we checked out. Honestly, who would call for towels if they could wait. There was one roll of paper towels under the sink, but I never saw a paper towel holder in the kitchen area. The was a towel holder in the bathroom, but it must have been there for a decoration...because there were no towels in it. The rugs in the hallway reminded me of indoor/outdoor carpet & they should really be replaced soon. And if you drive there they have very limited parking so you better carpool & bring your wallet because there is a separate 30.00 a day charge to park there. I also heard that parking is limited to one car per room. Oh yeah & if you forget your wallet in the room, the hotel staff will treat you like you left a half drank cup of coffee there. If I didnt stay there I would think I was calling a motel that rented rooms by the hour. I was put on hold for 4 minutes. I spoke with a women who zero help. She did give me her name. She was the only one in charge. But apparently the hotel has some trust issues because she couldnt get into a locked office where my wallet might be. I knew exactly where i left it. I would think that if the wallet was turned in someone would have contacted us, but after the non-caring attitude I got from her, I'm not so sure. I told her exactly where I left it in the room. She gave me her managers name & her assistant managers name. But that was the best she could do. My wife also contacted her and asked if security could just check the room...nope they cant. Like I said in the title, dont expect a lot & you probably would be disappointed. With so many other options, if I were to visit Newport, I'll look into them. This place is a one and done for me.…
