Our three day stay actually got off to a bad start because we didn't like the room we were assigned. We paid extra for one with a fireplace but the room was small and dark. The fireplace obscured the bathroom door making it awkward entering without tripping in the middle of the night. The water pressure was poor in the tub/shower and there was no place comfortable to sit other than the bed. The next morning we asked if there was any way to leverage my Gold status to move us to a slightly better room? The front desk was very apologetic and immediately located another room in the same catagory. This room was larger, brighter, better furnished and had a shower stall with good water pressure. It had a lovely private terrace too that we did not use because it was cold. We loved the second room and appreciated their willingness to move us (perhaps since the property was not busy in January, it might have been wiser had they assigned us the better room from the start).

Rooms were equipped with robes, bottled water, Bigelow bath products, a safe and a coffee/tea single serve machine. The mattress, towels and linens were of good quality making for a very comfortable stay.

We ate one dinner and two breakfasts in their restaurant Julia. It was good but not memorable. We did have dessert and after-dinner drinks in the bar one night. The atmosphere was more memorable there as well as the excellent food and drink.

Location-wise, La Posada was walking distance to most places of interest in Old Santa Fe. We only took our car out once in 3 days to visit Bandelier National Moment. Other days we walked into town and saw the Canyon Road art galleries.

Every person we encountered at La Posada was warm, friendly and helpful. Because of this we quickly forgot about the first room and enjoyed our stay very much.

The customer service I received at La Posada was exceptional. I needed a room last minute as a local due to home issues getting worked on. Laura, Lidia, and Ramiro were patient, understanding, and kind with all of my requests. And given the current covid situation this is no easy task, especially when distancing and protocol need to be strictly followed, and guests are impatient and condescending because of it.

I needed a chemical free room, and they each took their time with me to accommodate my needs. They reassured my partner and I that they would do everything possible to help us. And they did. Chemical sensitivity is not easy to deal with but I felt very taken care of.

I highly recommend La Posada for a short or long stay in Santa Fe.

Personal note: Any negative reviews here for La Posada should be regarded with an intelligent discerning mind..please get it that hotels MUST comply with strict orders to keep their guests and employees safe, with good reason. There is science to prove that covid is a very real, dangerous situation and many hotel amenities have to be eliminated. Given the hotel amenities that have to be forfeited during this time, I say it is a small price to pay for all the safety to be gained. And with staff who is understanding and kind on top of this, that's a HUGE amenity in itself. Beats all the rest.

I highly recommend a stay at La Posada. Let them take care of you during this tough time, and help you feel safe.

It was unfortunate. We had purchased a weekend for four at a fundraiser and paid quite a lot above their usual rate. (so glad it was for a good cause). From the time we checked in, very disorganized, to the time we left, we felt disappointed in service, etc.
Need to know that they do not make up the room. You do not get new towels, refill on coffee/cups/creamer let alone any cleaning or refresh of your bed. By the time we checked out, our room was filled with leaves that had blown in. Obviously, the changes are due to limited staff due to COVID, however, we have stayed at other hotels (bigger chains) and were not treated this way. The room did not 'feel' clean as other hotels have done. Glad I brought my own cleaning wipes and disinfectant spray!!

Dear CatherineC4727 Thank you for providing your feedback. I am sorry for any confusion at check in. We will look into this and take action. We do not automatically make up your room each day. Per New Mexico hotel guidelines, we are to respect the social distancing and provide upon request. We will take your comments back to our team and make some adjustments. Thank you again for your time, Derrick Pair

Let me start by saying we always picked this resort for years coming to Santa Fe. Never had any issues that we experienced on this trip, the hotel is under the new management and it shows. Cost cutting and avoiding service delivery.

They are doing housekeeping every third night now. We are only staying for 3 nights. If I wanted to stay at an extended stay property I would have booked one. After five conversations with 5 different people and 5 promises they would actually refresh the room, they did not. Complete indifference from staff and total breakdown in communications. Someone dropped off two trash bags filled with unfolded towels and water bottles shoved in there and dumped them on the credenza, see the picture. It was disgusting looking and felt like a low rent hostel. Really showed how much they valued their guests. They did not pick up any trash, did not pick up used towels, did not do anything at all. Had to walk to the front desk to stand there and wait for them to send housekeeping to the room. Clearly, they can provide housekeeping, they just choose not to do so.

When we checked in, asked about breakfast, told they have breakfast at the restaurant but its not a Platinum and above benefit and "they are working on it." They are only offering 1000 points for the stay instead of breakfast. I specifically booked the full service hotel to exercise my Ambassador breakfast benefit that I always received at the same property (under different GMs) before. Bonvoy Elite guests, beware.

If I pick a full service hotel, I expect daily housekeeping service and breakfast benefit, since the restaurant is very much open and no, COVID excuse is not going to cut it, there is no difference in risk between daily room service and every three days. There is nothing in local regulations (and we checked) not allowing for daily housekeeping service. Other hotels in town provide it. This is pure cost cutting and money grabbing (just like the breakfast fiasco). Marriott Bonvoy elite benefits standards were reinstated on January 11, 2021 by Marriott corporate, yet this property chooses not to adhere to providing standard Elite benefits nor proving full service property offering.

When I reached out to the GM via email, he has not responded and no one from his staff responded so far. This is all you should know about how much they care or want to provide service.

Dear Kirianas123, Thank you for your review. I do want to make a correction. We are not doing cost cutting. We, like many businesses at this time, are short staffed. The demand has returned faster than staffing levels. The reality is that if we open up breakfast for free, we can't service it at this time. We simply do not have enough staff. We will be opening more as we hire more staff. We will get back to offering the free breakfast we enjoy offering and daily housekeeping we have always done in the past just as soon as we are able to. Thank you again, Derrick

Used our Marriott points to book a vacation with three other couples. We reserved four King Suites each with a Fireplace. We are longtime Starwood/Marriott members and have always enjoyed our stays. This location, however, was different.
We were all given rooms that were very much not up to the Marriott standard, and it is supposed to be a Tribute Portfolio Resort and Spa. The rooms are old and tired. Our carpet was stained and horrible looking (see photo). The shade/blinds did not close completely and one of them didn’t even cover the window (see photo); which is especially unfortunate on the ground floor.
The floor was very uneven in many places. We needed to ask for a bathmat as the bath/shower combo was very slippery and our guests had to go ask as well. The parking is atrocious! You have to pay $25 a day and there are rarely spaces by the hotel so you have to drive down the street up a very narrow windy road to a roof to park to go in and out. Each time you enter the hotel room the smell of must and wet carpet is evident. The housekeeper that was supposed to come every 3 days only came once in the whole week. The mini fridge was broken. There was a glass top on the only table surface and the glass was not anchored down and moved when touched. One of our guests tripped and fell with a big bump on her head as a result of this.... The very best part of staying at La Posada was the staff they were wonderful all of them. The location was walking distance to town which was a plus and if you need a ride within a 2 mile radius a car was available. We used it when we went to Geronimo, it was very convenient Herbert, our driver has been with the hotel 20+ years! and was very accommodating. the property itself is very nice but really as a whole it needs a nip and tuck. The grounds have plantings but most of it was rocky landscape. For the most part it was very well maintained. It was a shame that as Gold Status Bonvoy members an upgrade was not available ( nothing is guaranteed) because our room could have used some attention. It was an upstairs room and the view overlooked the roof of the adjacent rooms, not a great view. The room had a wood burning fireplace (too warm to use) wonderful wood beam ceilings and the bones of the room where fine, but there was a Hodge podge of furniture that just didn't match or give the feeling of being an intended collection. The room was also dark and the available lighting was not sufficient. The room did have a coffee maker which is always appreciated and towels and bedding were nice, along with robes. There was a nice size flat screen T.V. As mentioned this was an upstairs room so if you have difficulty with stairs you should note that when making a reservation. As we descended the stairs from our room there was a room with the window directly in the walkway which would have been a problem if it had been ours. There are clearly differences in the positioning of the rooms. There is a pool with a bar, I can't comment on it or the spa because we were too busy seeing the sites to experience them. As with most properties there is a resort fee which I wish all properties would discontinue and just include it in the price of the room so there are no surprise. Would I return to La Posada sure but I would be more specific with regard to the room location. Also shout out to Monique who helped us with luggage, getting car service and was just always helpful. The hotel is pet friendly.

My husband and I made the difficult choice of canceling our honeymoon at the last minute and decided to do a mini-moon to somewhere in the US we had never been before. We decided upon Santa Fe after reading about how charming and tranquil it was. After looking through the several hotels that had availability, we decided upon La Posada as it was a very central location to the places we wanted to visit.

We were absolutely delighted upon our arrival. The staff was so friendly and immediately gave us water bottles and gave us the rundown regarding the amenities of the hotel and that housekeeping would be on the third day of our stay. We splurged on a deluxe room with a king bed and a fireplace and it was absolutely worth it! The room was decorated beautifully and the bed was so amazing and comfortable, I never wanted to get out! My only regret was not asking the staff to come and set up a fire one night during our stay. As our room was pretty far out there, it was especially quiet and we loved walking through the enchanting grounds.

I can't say enough how friendly and accommodating the staff is at La Posada. Everyone is so friendly and gave historical background to the area and even gave suggestions on places to visit. We visited the restaurants and bars and the service was great and the food and drinks were especially enjoyable. Make sure you order the Julia-rita! You can't go wrong with a stay at La Posada and we can't wait to come back and visit again in the future!

We booked a stay in King suite. The furniture was old and uncomfortable. Kind of like garage sale furniture. I was not happy with the room.

The bar and lobby are both beautifully done and we enjoyed Tito’s guitar playing. This made the trip good for all.

We will try to find a better room next time we visit. The property was beautiful so I am hoping room 123 is not the best offered at this property.

We stayed at the La Posada for a total of 2 nights. Unlike most people at this resort, we had 6 rooms at this resort but we were all here for work. We checked in around 9 PM and the check in process was quick and effortless. The ladies at the front desk gave us a detailed run down of the resort, location of the rooms, amenities, etc. Being a Titanium elite, I was upgraded to the room with a Kiva fireplace.

The room itself is exotic and the whole resort has a historic feel to it. Its a combination of Adobe architecture and log cabin feel - very well curated resort. The amount of art around the resort was fantastic. it felt like we were staying in an art gallery.

The room itself was very good though a bit small. But it maintained the charm of over a 100 years with matching furniture, floors, beams, etc. to match. Because of that the number of electrical outlets was an issue. The biggest issue for me was that in Room #150 the wifi doesn't work. One of my co-workers who also had a room in that side of resort also had the same problem - Now this a problem that Marriott should solve immediately.

We had lunch in the restaurant in the lobby area and it was pretty good. We also had drinks at the bar one of the nights and it stays open till midnight but we were able to take our drinks and hang out at the library beyond that time. Room services was very quick and efficient, The valet staff was also very quick and efficient.

A very historic hotel with lots of charm. Would definitely stay here in the future when I am in town for work If they fix the internet issues.

Like many of us, I read reviews before booking my trips. I saw a lot of positive reviews for this hotel, but a few negatives as well. Digging in on the negative reviews it was mostly people complaining about the age and upkeep of the rooms.

I stay at close to 100 Marriott properties a year, with our family vacations typically at Marriott, JW, or occasionally Ritz properties. If you need the same cookie-cutter experience of perfectly clean/updated properties than, this may not be your hotel. This hotel is much more intimate and special. It doesn’t feel like a Marriott property in look and feel and that’s a good thing!! We had an incredible adobe style room with a fireplace that we had going 24/7 when we were in the room. Each adobe feels like its own mini home, with a separate entrance from the outside. I believe these were built in the 40s but they continue to update them but still have the old Adobe charm. There are areas in the room where I had to duck (going into the bathroom, I’m 6-3”), but that added to the authentic charm.

One thing I’ve come to count on especially at JW and Ritz properties is the service. Regardless of where you are you feel special. The staff at La Posada was incredible. First day they knew you by name and you felt like you were home. Amy at the front desk was incredible. We had an issue (our fault) that came up right before our stay and she went above and beyond to help us. She helped to create an experience that we will never forget. I was also leery about the mandatory valet I read about in reviews, but the staff was the best in Valet I have ever experienced. From the first day Richard felt like family to us. He knew our names and had the car out, seat heaters on, waters in the car. Incredible. I wish I had an Amy and Richard on my teams.

In summary if you want to truly unique and special experience with JW or Ritz type service, this is your place!

The casitas are not uniformly designed. You should ask for a detailed description of what is available. I don’t believe there will be a kitchenette, however. The prices lead you to think it will be very comfortable, if not luxurious. But they are “rustic,” and “charming” and not at all luxurious. Having 2 bathrooms will help. The bathrooms are small.

Try to find another hotel. La Posada was open as of last Friday July 23. However, very dysfunctional. They probably cannot answer the phone because they’re too busy pissing off their guests and dealing with the repercussions of their bad choices and lack of services, such as no valet parking and no midday food/beverage service. It’s very sad , used to be a nice hotel.

I dont know about Pa Posada. Although if you are in Santa Fe, you should try Inn and Spa At Loretto and eat at Chez Mamou the little French restaurant by the Cathedral.
