Built around the history and culture of Providence, The Dean is a hotel that values collaboration with our neighbors. Filled with custom furniture, craftwork from local purveyors and found objects from Europe and beyond, The Dean revels in the details. This historical building has been elegantly transformed into a 52-room hotel in the heart of the Providence’s DownCity historic district - directly adjacent to the Rhode Island Convention Center, Dunkin Donuts Center, and within close walking distance to Brown, RISD, Johnson & Wales, the State Capitol and many corporations and historic sites. The Dean is host to Bolt Coffee in the lobby library, the Dean Bar, a European-style cocktail bar, north, our full service restaurant that cooks food and pour drinks that go in a lot of different directions, and the Boombox, a karaoke den with a bar and private singing rooms.

I booked the bunk bed room during it the Providence marathon, as I accompanied my son. I can't believe I paid US$ 374 for that hole…Not only for its small dimensions, no space fot 2 adults to stand up, also it had barely no amenities in bathroom… when it was advertised online that it had special amenities nor coffe or tea in the room nor in the reception…The cafeteria was not open until 8:00 am… The shower had no curtains, so the bathroom was a big puddle every time we showered. Also I complained in the reception for the room I got for this price, with no shower curtains and manager did not even offer a solution, the girl in the reception even said that they migh not want to give me any room bcs I complained too much..,very unprofessional and not the right way to deal with guests.

While there is always room for improvement, for me, the service people offer trumps any other consideration. James, Gracie, and Jeremy all gave exemplary service in storing and delivering my luggage (after an early arrival) to finding transportation to the airport when my Uber app failed. The hotel is older, my room was small, and the elevator is antique ( thank you, James, for the instructions). These were part of the charm of the place. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and the room very clean and quiet. I loved the location. It was an easy walk to the Rhode Island School of Design and to Brown University.

I had a lovely time at The Dean. It was a 5-day work trip. I came into the hotel with probably 3 hours of sleep and a long work day ahead. The front desk staff brought my suitcase and boxes up to my room. They even put my coat on a hanger before I entered my room for the first time. Everything was in walking distance. I loved this hotel. I will be back.

Great location, cozy room, kind of interesting decor and vibes. Loud Kareoke bar at night and a sparce cafe and reception area mix that could be improved upon. It felt a little seedy in the dark red lit hallways which was cool in a way but also made me feel like the space was dirty and not clean.

We could hear people from the nearby bars and restaurants outside up until 2am - 3am the first two nights we stayed here. The second night there was also a fight in the parking lot next door. Within the hotel, the thin walls meant that sound carried in a way where we would constantly hear people in nearby rooms and the hallway. I was trying to get rest for the Providence Marathon and the noise made it impossible to get the sleep I needed before the race. I don’t have any complaints about the service, the hotel staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. The location is also unbeatable and we enjoyed the karaoke bar downstairs. Overall, this is a decent little boutique hotel with a lot of charm, but at the end of the day, a hotel is for rest, and we didn’t get any during our stay.

Thank you for the feedback Kyle. I am so sorry to hear about the noise. IT was a busy weekend downtown with both the marathon and cinco de mayo celebrations and unfortunelty we did the best we could to try to midigate the issue. I am happy to see though you got great service during your stay. Feel free to reach out to me at Jeremy@thedeanhotel.com next time you stay and I can try to provide you one of our quietest rooms.

Cute boutique hotel and nothing the hotel could do about this but if you want to get a good night's sleep, don't come here. The club/restaurant next door is CRAZY loud. Staff switched my room but it didn't help. They brought me ear plugs and white noise machine (very accommodating) but none of it changes that this is the loudest room I've ever stayed in at a hotel. I see reviews like this all the time and think "wow, what a Karen" but really, don't come here if you're wanting to go to sleep before 2 am.

Thank you for the feedback Tessa. Unfortunetly the block party wasnt shared with us before hand so we had little warning about the noise. We did try to address with the business and provide what we could to midigate the issue. I do hope you do give us a second chance. Feel free to reach out to me at Jeremy@thedeanhotel.com if you decide to come back and I can guarantee to make your next stay quiet and relaxing.

Totally enjoyed my stay at The Dean. I was visiting Providence to visit my daughter at Providence College. The eclectic design, cleanliness, location, and overall vibe of the hotel was great. Parking was soooo convenient as it was right next door. Easy in, easy out which was great as it was pouring rain when I was checking out. The young lady at the desk even offered to walk me to my car while sheltering me with an umbrella. I was grateful but refused her kind offer. I've stayed at several hotels in Providence and would definitely recommend The Dean.

Wow, absolutely blown away how amazing The Dean is. It starts with how fantastic the staff are. Every single person was helpful, kind and knowledgeable. James, hands down, went above and beyond to assist me with arranging for a taxi in the early morning hours. He was incredibly helpful, prompt and friendly. Breakfast at the Bolt. The gentleman with the glasses made me one of the best lattes I have ever had. He timed the espresso shot precisely and took great care to make a quality drink. By the way, it was a lavender/thyme/honey latte, which I highly recommend. They also serve Knead doughnuts and they were delicious and fresh. I recommend the vanilla brioche. The bar in the evenings was the perfect speakeasy and the atmosphere was mysterious, warm and inviting all at once. The drinks were crafted with perfection and flavour. Bartender from Cape Verde islands, was soo friendly and she played old school Missy Eliott and it brought back such great memories! Aah and the room, cozy, warm and the linens were soft. The shower pressure wonderful and tolietries fragrant and of high quality. Clean room/hotel and the price will not break the bank. Walking distance to restaurants and historic sights. Thank you everyone for all of your hospitality and help! I had such a wonderful stay here.

Quick night at the hotel, Great bed and the hotel has on-site entertainment through an excellent cocktail bar. It made me feel comfortable knowing I can have a relaxing night while still having plenty of options to partake in.
