Tobi at Taharaa made our stay comfortable and memorable. The lodge was beautiful, clean, and quiet. The sheets on the bed were so soft and breakfast each morning was delicious. Definitely try the steak house on site too. Delicious. I highly recommend a stay here.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I truly enjoyed having you two here—and putting you to work getting the fireplace going! ;-) It makes me so happy to hear that you had a relaxing and peaceful stay with us, as that’s exactly what we aim for. It was a pleasure to make your visit comfortable and memorable, and I had fun upgrading your room! Those sheets are ridiculously soft, and we definitely make sure you’re well-fed for the day! I’m so glad you had a great experience at the steakhouse as well. Your recommendation means so much to us, and we would love to welcome you back whenever you’re in the area! Tobi

The beautiful property has so much potential, but I would not call it a luxury stay or a bed and breakfast. I think it's important to have at least one person on premises at all hours to aid your guests with anything they might need. We had to figure out how to turn on the ac and how the hot tub worked. Their mattresses need a little TLC and you get one pillow per guest. I need two and would love an extra blanket. When the sun comes up, you're going to be awakened by the sunlight as they do not have blackout shades. The windows have a light shade and the upper windows of your room do not. This really bothered us. On the bright side, every room has an incredible view, the kitchen is staff is 10/10. Their food is delicious, fresh and the staff is very attentive. Loved getting our tray of coffee delivered to our room early in the morning so we could enjoy it on our private balcony.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the incredible views from your room, the attentiveness of our kitchen staff, and the delicious meals during your stay. It’s wonderful to know that you appreciated the early morning coffee service on your private balcony. We also appreciate your candid comments about the areas where we can improve. Your suggestions regarding 24-hour on-premises support, clearer instructions for the AC and hot tub, and the need for additional pillows and blankets are very valuable. We will review these areas to enhance our guests' comfort and convenience. We’re sorry to hear that the lack of blackout shades affected your rest. We understand how important a good night’s sleep is, and we will certainly consider options to address this concern. Our goal is to provide a relaxing and enjoyable experience for all our guests, and your feedback helps us to better meet that goal. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide an even better stay. Thank you again for your review.

What a lovely place to stay! My husband and I booked a room at the lodge for six days, so we could relax and hike. Our room was perfect. Large comfy bed, seating area, and a balcony with spectacular views of the mountain range . A full breakfast is included. Each morning the breakfast was varied and delicious. The Lodge has the feel of a B&B in that it is has only 20 rooms, and the owners are on site. The owner Thad has lived in Estes since 1977, so he was there to make recommendations for some amazing hikes. The highlight of the lodge is THE TWIN OWLS STEAKHOUSE, an exceptional, fine dining experience.. The vibe of the restaurant is laid back casual, not stuffy, and the views are spectacular. One of the best meals my husband and I have ever had.
Overall, our stay at the Taharra Mountain Lodge exceeded our expectations. If you are looking for a lodge with a laid-back, personalized feel, excellent staff on site to give recommendations, and quiet, comfortable rooms with excellent views, this is the place for you.

We were welcomed by General Manager Vicky right at check-in time...3pm. Vicky gave us a tour of the common areas in the lodge and then personally showed us our room and how to operate things like the heat and a/c, fireplace, and answered all our questions. Vicky even prepared breakfast for us one morning. We were also impressed that the owner, Thad, was hands on at the lodge and at the Twin Owls restaurant. They are very customer friendly and pay attention to the details. When was the last time you stayed somewhere and they changed the linens, made the bed, vacuumed, removed trash, etc. each and every night of your stay. They are treating you like you used to be treated pre-Covid. Thanks for a great stay. Our accommodations had perfect mountain views and everything was so clean!

My husband and I came here for 3 nights after a conference in Denver. We arrived a bit early on a Friday afternoon and Diane checked us in and showed us our room. It was very nice, with a balcony with a table and two chairs that boasted a wonderful view of Estes Park below. The bed was comfortable, but a little soft, with amazing sheets. The fireplace was warm and the thermostat easy to use. It was chilly when we arrived but the heat kicked in when we went to bed the first night and we had to discard the warm comforter. The bathroom had a shower and ample sink area; the shower had good pressure and stayed warm.
We had tried to make online reservations at the Twin Owls restaurant which is attached to the lodge, prior to arriving, but there were no available times. Diane was able to book us a table outside in their covered and heated patio and it was fine after they got the heaters turned on.
While Highway 7 does go past the lodge, it is not very loud at all and does not diminish the peaceful tranquility of the lodge. We found the lodge to be well located for visiting the Beaver Meadow entrance to Rocky Mountains National Park (10 minutes) and for going downtown to Estes Park. We also visited Lily Lake up the way on Highway 7 that was also close to the lodge.
Breakfast was included and was great every morning. Excellent! And they bring you coffee outside your door each morning upon request. Great owners and staff.
Overall, we would definitely return again. Highly recommend.

What a fabulous experience. The staff was more than accommodating, taking care of our every need or want. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and a good size. The complimentary breakfast was unexpectedly fantastic. It was cooked fresh and served with fresh fruit, juice and coffee. The owner was present and making sure all the guests were taken care of. They are located 5-10 minutes from downtown. The location is quiet and beautiful.

We have eaten @ Twin Owls many times in the past and agreed that a stay at Taharra Mountain Lodge would be on our list. We spent Sunday and Monday night at the lodge after enjoying the awesome food at Twin Owls restaurant for Mothers Day including the Dry Rubbed New York strip. The two night stay at the lodge was beyond our exceptions, Each morning prior to breakfast we enjoy the view from our private deck in our room with a warm coffee. The prepared breakfast to our orders each day while enjoying the beautiful view from the Breakfast Dining Room was stunning overlooking Estes Park. We will definitely return for another adventure of fine dining and amazing Junior Suite Spa room. The staff was amazing and catered to our requests.

The lodge is staffed a small part of the day, check-in for example is 3-5, but be sure to ask for an extension before you go because signal strength on the phone can be poor in the area.
The room was lovely and the view superb. The AC was very difficult to use. The ice machine is downstairs, outside the building by the onsite restaurant. Yes, you have to go outside, unless the kitchen is open (again, limited time, 8-10 or so).
Paid $450+ for a one night stay and they expected me to tip housekeeping, carry my own coffee tray to the kitchen and tip for the included breakfast.
Would not return.

We apologize for the confusion with the ice machine, you do not have to go outside to get ice. There is access from inside the lodge, again we apologize if that was not clear. We are glad that you were happy with your room.

We stayed in the Cattle Baron room and I would not recommend this room. It is located right over the restaurant so it is very noisy until late in to the night making it difficult to sleep, visit or relax. The jacuzzi tub, TV in the living room, Fireplace in the bedroom, Fireplace fan in the living room and bathroom heat light all did not work. We reported all issues and were told that they probably could not get them to work during our stay. We were not compensated for the inconvenience. Dinner in the restaurant was wonderful and the massages were excellent which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of 1. Would probably not stay there again and definitely not recommend the most expensive Cattle Baron room.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re of course sorry to hear that your stay didn’t meet your expectations. The only issues you brought up was the fireplace in the bedroom, that's what wouldn’t have been a quick fix and TV, which I tried to address and followed up with a text message, but I didn’t hear back, so I assumed it had been resolved. Unfortunately, I wasn’t made aware of any other concerns, or I would have addressed them right away. I feel it’s worth noting that your stay was on Thanksgiving, one of the busiest nights of the year, so we understand the noise from that would have been frustrating, but thankfully I didn’t hear about noise being an issue the other nights. I hope you can understand our perspective regarding the other issues and compensation. This is the first time compensation had been mentioned. It’s disheartening for us to learn about these additional maintenance issues through a review, as we value the opportunity to address and resolve matters while you are here. On a positive note, glad to hear that you enjoyed dinner at the restaurant and the massages. We truly appreciate your kind words about those experiences. Your feedback is important to us, and we’ll use it to make improvements where possible. Thank you again for your comments, and I wish you all the best..

We held our board meeting at the lodge last week and had a very enjoyable and productive meeting. The meeting accommodations were appropriate for the size of our group (8). Each guestroom has an incredible view of the mountains surrounding Estes Park and seeing sunrise reflecting on the snow covered mountain was a great way to start the day. Breakfast each morning was delicious and varied during our stay. The owners, staff, and general manager were extremely helpful and even drove us to dinner one night in town. Highly recommend this lodge and if travel brings me back to Estes Park, this is the place I will stay. Thanks for a great experience!

Breakfast is served from 7:30-9:30 everyday.
10 minutes from lodge to downtown Estes Park. Best way to get to park is to go to the visitor center and take the shuttle, another 10-15 minutes
I don't know if there is a map of the layout, but if you click on individual rooms, it will say at the top whether they are on first or second floor.
"Avoid Twin Owl restaurant. Poor service and food was just ok. Better restaurants in town!"Read full review
