We spent two nights at the hotel. We brought our two dogs. The cost of the room was $130 per night and $25 for each one of the dogs for each night. It is an older hotel and appears to have been renovated several times. Our room was in very poor condition And the floor was filthy. The washcloth and the pictures that I included is of my feet after just 30 minutes in the room. The other picture is of the furniture where apparently some dogs have been left alone and used it to chew on the little outdoor bar on the boardwalk outside the hotel was nice. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was only open for breakfast inside. It is a good location as far as being on the beach.

I’ve traveled many times and this is the first negative hotel review I’ve had to write. Don’t be fooled by the pictures. It may be close to the beach but that’s the only perk. Here’s a list of all the cons we experienced:

1) No elevator. May not be a deal breaker If you don’t mind hauling all your luggages up the stairs,

2) Floors in common areas were always wet and sandy.

3) Pool is cloudy looking and has sandy sediment

4) Outdated decor. Honestly looks like the place hasn’t been updated in decades.

5) Upon entering our room we notice the floor still had some sand from prior guests. And paper trash on the floor that wasn’t ours.

6) Terribly loud A/C

7) When we left for the day, we asked if housekeeping could clean our room. We were told “they clean at 3pm.” My husband says “great we will be out then, we’re at room 218.” The front desk clerk says “I’ll let them know.” We get back at 4pm and room is not clean. We ask when they’ll come to clean, when just to empty the tray, get fresh towels, and a roll of toilet paper. But we’re told it won’t happen until the next morning.

8) By the next morning, we are really in need of toilet paper and fresh towels. We ask again for housekeeping. Nothing. We head out. On the way out we see an employee cleaning the restroom by the pool. We ask him for a roll of toilet paper and new towels. He provided them immediately.

9) Trash cans in common areas — at pool, bar, at the steps leading to the beach were constantly overflowing.

10) Tons of young people partying there. If you’re young and can’t afford more pricey hotels, like to party, and don’t mind a filthy place to stay, then this place is for you. Bring your own toilet paper, trash bags, broom and dust pan, and plenty of towels, you’ll be good.

This hotel was cheaper compared to others. Though closer to the beach. That was the selling point for me. You’ll get what you pay for. If you want decent to above decent accommodations, spend some more somewhere else nicer, that’s at least 3 stars.

My son, daughter-in-law and 15 month old granddaughter came down from Austin to visit me in Corpus Christi; I live only 1 mile from the hotel. My son and I have lots of good memories of staying in this hotel many years ago when it was the Holiday Inn. This is the ONLY hotel in Corpus Christi proper that is on the beach (actually Corpus Christi Bay) and the location is ideal. Too bad the facility is trashed out and not well maintained, and attracts many generally undesirable people. Some of the staff were excellent and very customer oriented. For example, Reuben, the night security man was very kind and helpful dealing with the people in the room next door who were smoking weed. The smoke was coming into the room through the vents for a couple of hours on several occasions. Rueben knocked on the door to tell them smoking was not allowed in rooms. Reuben helped out after we tried to get the women at the front desk to tell the occupants not to smoke in the room. The desk clerks put us off and were very condescending. They need customer service training. Upon checking in, the room was very trashy and extremely unclean. After pointing this out, housekeeping was responsive and very friendly. Undoubtedly they are understaffed since the hotel was totally booked. It is the fault of management, not housekeeping, that the rooms are not cleaned well. Clearly better management is needed as well as more housekeeping staff. We also had a positive encounter with maintenance man Jerry who was working on fixing the outdoor shower - it was turned off during repairs and when he saw we needed it to rinse off the sand from our toddler he turned the pressure back on and was happy to do it. This hotel clearly needs lots of improvements and better management. If you are traveling with children be cautious because you will undoubtedly encounter people you would prefer not to be around (like the mother in the room on the opposite side of the smokers who kept yelling at her child to “shut the f**k up”). If you are a couple expecting a resort type experience, lower your expectations. The fitness room is closed, there no longer is a gift shop, the business room is closed and the outside bar isn’t open. If you want to be in a hotel on the water, you are better off staying at the Raddison on North Beach (by the Lexington) or the Holiday Inn on the Island.

We started off excited to stay at this property. We overlooked some negative reviews and upon arrival there were several warning signs but we were happy with the location and premise of the hotel so we proceeded. Then it all went terrible…

1) bugs including roaches. Lots of them in our room.
2) French fries and jewelry not belonging to us on the floor
3) broken door frame and mold on the bathroom ceiling.
4) puddle of some unknown water leaking from behind wall and sofa
5) hot tub warm but jet broken, dirty
6) dangerous stairs - family fell down them, staff didn’t care
7) extremely rude and unprofessional staff - especially Alyssa the “supervisor”
8) restaurant closed/gone
9) many work out machines broken
10) homeless people wandering around in property
11) odd smells and people partying

We informed the front desk of bugs and multiple issues in our room. They refused to refund us, even half we were willing to accept as fair. Alyssa the “manager” was unprofessional, mocking and sarcastic tone and told us this is not her problem and she will not refund us. We will contact her manager and the bank as this is on going. They lack empathy and there is zero work being done to this property with potential. If a better company purchased this it could be amazing.

You think it’s a perk to stay on the beach and have a huge pool with a room that walk’s literally right into it but do not give in. This was the most disgusting hotel with rude staff I have ever been to. We felt unsafe and dirty here. We transferred to a wonderful hotel 3 minutes away from this place and they felt so bad about the situation down the street they gave us a discount saying lots of people complain about that hotel we came from.

We paid over $300 a night for our premium bay front room and night after night the partying on the beach gets louder and louder. I spoke with the manager inside about a partial refund for the inconvenience of listening to multiple genres of music, adults yelling in the rooms below and kids screaming. The video attached is from 1130 at night next to the premium bay front rooms. The manager said since “the beach is public, that a patron would need to call if the noise is a problem”. Funny, I thought public beaches/parks close at sunset. I’m really surprised at the lack of spine this manager has. We are canceling the remainder of our stay and finding a nicer hotel that rents to actual adults. I chose this place because it looked family friendly, it was until the sunsets then the various smells of competing weed wafts to our patio which is tame until the music comes out and kids scream until 2 am. Do not rent here again until they have a management turnover. I will be sharing this with the base and the fire department as this hotel needs to be blacklisted from the armed forces vacation website and ITT travel. On a different note half the arcade games did not work so that was disappointing. The locals put up cones in the parking lot and take up several premium parking spaces. It seems all they have to
Do is lift the “gate” to drive into the parking lot. Multiple gates and entrance doors were broken where the room key wasn’t even necessary. I’m pretty upset, I really wanted to like this place. I’m also disappointed there was nothing the manager could offer to offset this major inconvenience.

They need to close this place down. If I could, it would be given a negative negative.
Save yourself the disgrace of staying here.
From the moment we arrived it was dismal failure. The automatic doors did not work (both the rotating one and the regular doors).
You come in to a very dated front desk area. Granted it an older hotel, but a little cleaning goes a long way. It would not have been so bad the light fixture/ chandelier wasn't dirty with bugs and water stains on the ceiling. I booked 2 rooms with a request for connection rooms, as we are visit with younger kids (ages 7 all the way to 17months, 5 kids in total).
They didn't have the rooms on the same floor, after inquiring then about cancellation beavuse I'm not going to have my children sleep by themselves, Curtiss, the Front manager on duty, informed me that if I cancelled I will be charged for the Saturday both rooms and just refunded Sunday even if we haven't checked in to the hotel. He went to check some other rooms and came back and told me he can put us in the same floor but next door. Next door meant 20 doors down!!!. The beds were nasty (bugs and other stuff) the other room was not even cleaned. We got moved to another floor (connecting rooms), it got worse....MOLD and nasty beds.
Needless to say that we all spent the night in one room without the mold. 3 adults and 5 kids in 1 room with 2 double beds. We did check out that morning. This was a horrible vacation and thank.you to Emerald Beach Hotel for ruining it. I have a lot more to say but do not have the energy to exhaust on it. I just want a FULL refund back and NOT the partial one they sent.

We reserved a room for two nights 8/23/2023-08/24/2023 at Emerald Beach Hotel where they charged $255/night. When we first occupied the room we found the door was jammed and would close only when slammed shut, TV not working, phone not working, and hot water not working. Also, the tub had sand and hair that washed out under the shower mat, mold and mildew around the entire base of the tub, and there was sand throughout the room on the floor. After calling the front office through the external number on our personal phone since the room phone was inoperative, the maintenance man was able to spend 30 minutes to reset the TV and after another hour he explained he could only get hot water to the room when he ran the hot water in 3 other rooms so the hot water could get to us. The next morning, there of course was no hot water for a shower so we checked out to go to another hotel where we could shower. The Manager said we would not be forced to stay there another night, but refused to provide any discount for the night we spent at his poorly managed hotel.

This hotel advertises and charges rates that are consistent with the nicer hotels in Corpus Christi, but it provided us a dirty, non-functioning room where we could not even take a shower. By charging us a full rate for a night where we did not get a room with even basic services, I believe they are a hotel that should be avoided at all cost.

I would like so much to give this hotel five stars because she was quite the beauty back in her day. The staff was lovely, and the food was good. They don’t have room service. You order from the bar then go pick it up. We did that twice and the food was good both times, as was the all you can eat breakfast buffet for which you pay $9.99 during the week and $12.99 on the weekends. They have a really cute outdoor bar complete with bay view seating that makes great Mai Tais, and free parking. Unfortunately, she is now like a sweet old lady that has not been taken care of. Deterioration is everywhere! We had a King Bayfront room with a bay view balcony. It could have been so nice, but; somewhere above our bathroom was a leak that was slowly deteriorating the office style tile ceiling, it took my husband and I both pulling together to open the door to the balcony, the bathroom door was misaligned and made a big thud when you closed it that actually scared our dog the first couple of times we closed it, the entire room was obviously old and in need of attention, and the real kicker - we couldn’t get hot water from the bathroom faucet (which also leaked) or the shower! We were there for two nights, at the beach with sand in everything, and unable to shower. I have sensitive teeth and need warm water to rinse when I brush. I had to heat water for rinsing in the microwave. If not for those things, I would have really enjoyed our stay. As it is though, we won’t stay there again. It truly saddens me to say that, but until someone with some money cares enough to take better care of the property, I don’t recommend it.

This hotel was built almost 60 years ago and has survived a couple of hurricanes. There is a major renovation taking place in certain areas and it is obvious that they are doing everything possible to make it a five star hotel again. Also, they have employees mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, polishing, and scrubbing everywhere you look.
There is a large beautiful pool with 70 chairs surrounding it and also includes a game room.
(shuffleboard & ping pong are free)
We had a gulf view room on the 7th floor and spent a good deal of time sitting on our private balcony enjoying the waves and the sea birds.
Our receptionist, Nubia, was very welcoming and was able to answer all of our questions about the restaurants and attractions in the Corpus Christi area. We designated her as our "go to" person.
If you are looking for a place with reasonable rates, a quiet beach, and a friendly & caring staff, then make your plans to stay here. You'll be glad you did.

I wish I had read the reviews before booking…the air conditioner did not cool the room even after having maintenance come and look at it. Mold in the room (pic included). The soda that they sell at the front desk and vending machines are expired and flat. Elevator buttons broken. Very outdated and dirty throughout the hotel. Only good thing about this hotel is that it’s very close to the beach.
