Detailed Reviews
The room was small, bed clean and comfortable, bathroom clean and properly supplied. View from 7th (top) floor was nice looking down the valley with mountains and such. Reception was helpful in getting us checked in earlier than the normal 3pm check-in time. Some of the general areas of the hotel aren't entirely clean, in particular the interior piping structure (load bearing form and function touch) fronting the large windows toward the outdoor dining area were thick with what appeared to be a quarter inch of dust. Looked like they hadn't had them cleaned in about 10 years (or perhaps since the hotel was opened). I was happy to see that housekeeping pays good attention to the rooms, and this was just an isolated instance of a special cleaning project that just doesn't seem to get on the "to do" list. We would definitely consider staying here again mostly due to the convenient location.

We have stayed here a number of times because it is super convenient to the U of U Orthopedic hospital. Regardless, we'd have been happy staying here for any reason. The rooms are clean and well kept, and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. It doesn't hurt that there's a Starbucks in the lobby either. The building is beginning to show its age but I'd still recommend it for the price, location, and views of the Wasatch range.

Looking to step back in time, about 25-years to a Marriott of the past? Check this place out. Minimalist service and dated rooms await you.
The rooms don’t look like they have been touched since the place was built. Ugliest lime green carpet I’ve ever seen, and “classic” Marriott furniture that has seen better days. A coffee pot that hasn’t been cleaned since it was installed might just be a Petri dish for the local tech park (that’s fixed now, you’re welcome).
Meh internet speeds, older non-internet enabled TV’s, and a phone that belongs in the Smithsonian round things out. As well as a loud and not fully effective HVAC unit.
Things are not all bad or historical. Ultimately you stay in a hotel for sleep. The bed was comfortable with decent linens. Also, when we thought we might not make it in from Denver on the first night of a pre-paid stay, they indicated a willingness to cancel the first night.
Not an awful stay, just terribly dated. Located where they are, you’d think they would offer a stronger product.

We were extremely disappointed and will never stay in a Marriot again. We were here because my husband had eye surgury. Room was $150.00 per night and we were told they don’t offer any amenities. Not even complimentary coffee. No breakfast. No microwave in room. A tiny tiny one available at front desk but nothing tAller than about 4 inches would fit. Plus long walk from our room. No ice machine on the floor we were on. Had to beg small portions from bartender. Because no food offered also no plastic ware which was very inconvenient since we planned to eat in room. Thus no salt or sugars. There was one of those cheesy plastic single cup coffee makers. If you want real coffee the only option was Starbucks. I was told rather rudely that you had to earn free breakfast and coffee by staying 75 times. Who on earth would do that? Refrigerator in room did not work well and had no freezer. Restaurant was horrendously expensive. We only wanted a place to heat up a frozen dinner and a way to keep it cold. I honestly don’t know how this place stays in business. Oh and poor quality remote that didn’t work well and TV okay but certainly smallish and dated. It was clean.

Stayed on our way from west coast to Denver. Ideal location, close to I80. Given all the changes related to COVID-19, difficult to provide full assessment (e.g. gym and restaurant were closed). Nevertheless friendly staff, wearing face masks (thank you!). Room pleasant, great comfortable bed, good pillows. Shower good (sufficient water pressure), enough amenities. The room was quite, completely dark, for a great overnight rest. The room does have coffee machine but during pandemic, you need to order the coffee, tea, sugar, creme from the front desk. The only thing that really needs attention is the old, smallish TV that provided mediocre picture. We decided to forget about the TV. Overall very good experience, would recommend.

We stayed here for three nights while attending a wedding. The hotel was packed, but due to a soccer tournament’s team exploits the week before, only one elevator was working for most of our trip. Not good. The staff was courteous and helpful, Sunday buffet very good, and room cleaned when we asked(though we found someone’s underwear behind our corner chair the first day)😳
My complaint is the lack of thoughtful bath hardware. There were no towel racks. So one hook for two bath towels(no way!), and none for hand towels. I am tired of hotels hiring designers who design minimalist bathrooms that simply do not function. They had two(!!) shelves for one glass each in the bathroom. Why not use that space for a makeup mirror or towel ring??? And it seems every hotel we have stayed in recently has changed their doors to sliding frosted jobs. At least this one stayed closed, but the light still shows through, which is an issue when someone else in the room is sleeping. Other than that, room had a beautiful view and was comfortable.

I do apologize about the soccer tournament. We are going under renovation - not sure what the plan is for the bathrooms. I will be sure to bring it up.

Rooms out-dated with wobbly, damaged furniture, stains on walls and carpets, etc.
Had to change rooms due to extremely noisy fridge in room.
Front staff friendly but unattentive to guests. Did not even mention how to connect to WiFi, benefits of my Marriott Gold status at the hotel, etc. Had to pull information from clerk.
2 computers in lobby (for boarding passes, etc.) not working. Both of them frozen and inoperable.
Heating in room inadequate with cold air coming in from the windows, while heating vents are mostly in other rooms, making the room with window (bedroom, in my case: #402) FREEZING even though other rooms too hot.
Shower head is at least 15 years old, leaking, poor water output.
No anti-slip mat in bathtub; very dangerous while taking a shower.
Drain closer in sink unable to be operated, because faucet installed too close to wall. This is unacceptable; it means one can never close the drain. And it also means that the hotel has tolerated this for years.
"Check-out" option supposedly by choosing "menu" on TV remote (according to handout at desk) but this is not possible. TV checkout does not even exist on the remote or the TV.
Not enough lighting in the parking lot at night; too dark.
Automatic turning door at entrance only working half the time. The other half of the time, you have to literally "dance" in front of the sensor to get it to move.
Dirty toilet plunger in bag outside of my room, beside my door, when I checked in at 7 pm. Obviously, it had been there all day and evening. Never removed until next day.
It is obvious that no one really cares about the hotel or the upkeep.
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I used to love this hotel for the amenities but they now don’t do any of them. They used to have a shuttle to the university - not anymore. They used to give you a voucher for a free starbucks in the lobby - not anymore. They also make you pay for parking which we never used to have to do. The restaurant had less than half of the menu options available and after saying 5+ things we were like “so what is available on the menu” which was pretty ridiculous. The cleaning staff came into our room a little after 8am without even knocking and we weren’t even checking out that day. All the two stars are only for the location. The rooms are also pretty outdated considering the price.

I got a last-minute deal while visiting my son at the UofU. Loved the area it was in! Great staff, easy checking in, and got a nice corner room #400. The room was beautiful with nice views. The bed was comfortable. Loved the dual shower heads and that the tv remote was sanitized in a bag! Lobby areas are really pretty and nice to have a Starbucks. Be careful though, they will charge you $15 for a wifi fee. Good stay, will come again. Wish I had more time here!

We came to tour the University. The exercise room is dated. There are definitely some areas of the hotel that need attention. The location to campus was good - although it is still a drive. Paying for parking is odd given you are staying at the hotel. The member lounge is less than most other Marriotts. Our room was nice and comfortable - we had no complaints with the room. There is a small refrigerator, we had cleaning service each day (which we did not expect). The air conditioning was not very cool in our room but seemed fine in the lobby, etc.
The bright spot of our stay was Riley at the front desk and a student at the U. He was friendly and extremely helpful. I cannot say enough about how helpful he was - giving us directions, information about local places to eat and see, making sure everything was good with our room, etc.

I still have the receipt from my stay there, it says University Park on it. The hotel is about 2 miles from U of U. I have a GPS in my car and it took me right there. I don't know that I would have found it without it, it sits in a kinda funny spot. When I was there the wi-fi was almost completely non-functional. I wouldn't stay there again because of that alone. U of U has a brochure on lodging near the hospital:
healthcare.utah.edu/patient-family-services/pdfs/hotel-accommodations-list-9-2019-web.pdf
no, it used to. not anymore
The UTA (Utah Transit Authority) has a really great system there. I would call the hotel and ask the desk clerk and I would imagine that they would have an answer.
Good morning. Unfortunately our Hotel has a courtesy shuttle with a 2 mile radius from the hotel. We are able to arrange a cab for you which is $30.00 one way with Ute Cab. The most economical choice is Uber or Lyft. Please let me know if you have any further questions. David Saarinen Director of Operations, (801) 581-1000.
You might also want to consider having the shuttle take you to a location where you can catch the hop on hop off bus tour of SLC. That would give you access to all the local attractions.
